At Beastro, Chef Helen Nguyen Uses Her Pastry Chops for Truly Original Brunch Fare - Eater Portland

"Beastro changed more than its name: Instead of specializing in Filipino and Hawaiian fare, the restaurant transforms from an eclectic brunch spot to an evening Korean restaurant each night. Beastro co-owner Jun Park, who also owns Pacific Northwestern sushi franchise Musashi’s, developed a Korean dinner menu of stews, stir fries, and snacks, like budae jjigae and tteokbokki. But executive chef Helen Nguyen’s contributions are a playful testament to the chef’s professional and personal background, creating a truly unique Portland brunch." - Katrina Yentch

Google
Went because we were curious why Marshawn Lynch's name was tacked onto a Korean restaurant and were pretty pleasantly surprised. It was quite good Korean food and the place itself was nice. Maybe if there's one gripe, it's a tad overpriced, but in their defense, you can tell what the price will be before you even see a menu, so it shouldn't come as a surprise. In the end, worth it. Might go again if we're in the area.

Thank you London for amazing service and hospitality! Brunch after PSU graduation was perfect! While Beastro is adjacent to a swanky hotel, the flavors are amazing and the prices are so reasonable. Enjoy watching 80's Vevo and experiencing Marshawn Lynch's touch to Korean/Hawaiian fusion cuisine. Every visit has been perfect thanks to London.

Super Fantastic

Google
I ordered the Korean chicken wings. It was authentic & delicious... the perfect combination of sweet, salty & spicy. I should know bc I'm Korean. I could tell it was fried twice bc it was perfectly crunchy with the right amount of gochujang marinade . The Korean ajumma (lady chef) put her heart into the food. I didn't mind that it cost more than regular fried chicken since it takes more time, ingredients & expertise to get it right. The restaurant looked elegant in a downtown chic kind of way. I sat at the bar & chatted briefly with both the bartender & server, while watching a movie on the T.V. It was a chill & comfortable vibe while enjoying one of my favorite Korean comfort foods. if you haven't tried it, you don't know what you're missing.

I’ve never had a breakfast sandwich that tasted this good. The bacon and brioche bun was sweet. This is the best bacon in the world! The fried potatoes were nice and crispy and full of flavor. The service and atmosphere was good too.

We enjoyed our stay at The Vance and dinner at Beastro! The staff was attentive and personable! The drinks were creative and enjoyable! The food was delicious and it was nice to just walk back to our room!

This restaurant, located in Hotel Vance, is a neighborhood gem. For breakfast and lunch, they offer American and Hawaiian dishes. After 5 PM, they switch to a Korean menu. I ordered the Mochi waffle with Korean spiced popcorn chicken, served with warm syrup and hot sauce. It was one of the best-tasting waffles I've had and was visually appealing. The restaurant is spacious with modern furnishings, and the service was fantastic. I brought my husband dinner and ordered the KFC, Army soup, and kimchee pancake, which were very tasty.

Google
Don't let the downtown Portland address detour you! I made a reservation and was pleasantly surprised to see it upon arrival. We ordered the Marshawn punch, and khalib and garlic prawns were so flavorful! They were out wings but substituted party wings that were just as well. I will definitely be back to try more items on their diverse menu.

This is our last night in Portland and we were STARVING! We came to Beastro and as we got into the restaurant, it filled up and became very busy very quickly. There was only one server on the floor, she seemed to have a food runner, but our server(can’t remember her name, dirty/light blonde hair) was extremely busy by herself, yet she managed to take care of the entire floor by herself and got our food out quickly! We were very happy with the service and quality of food, especially with how busy they were. Overall good experience, and a huge thanks to the staff!

Yelp
Tonight's dinner was at BEASTRO in downtown Portland! This was my first meal at the restaurant. I started serving here this week and figured I should give some of the food a try, so I know what I'm working with. I am writing this review in a non-biased mindset --- as a first time customer. I can honestly say it was great! And the service we received was excellent as well! Out of the two drinks we ordered, I think the BEAST MODE was my favorite, because it was a bit more on the tangy/citrus side. The Notorious POG was good, but sweeter and had more floral notes. That's just my personal opinion, though, and both were great! The Army Base Stew was delicious. Spicy, without being overbearing. Plenty of meat. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy SPAM in a stew, but the bits I got actually went so well with the umami of the broth and mushies. Loved the presentation, and that the hot pot had the camp stove with it to keep it warm. (It's a hefty amount of soup, so it takes a while to eat...even with three people sharing it, as we did. We even brought some home in a to-go container.) The Duk Bok E was an interesting dish. It was a lot sweeter than I expected it to be. The different textures of the dish were exciting. It had an enjoyable level of heat, especially with the addition of the cheese to tame it a bit. The Local Boy cheeseCAKE was to die for. Lovely espresso notes with a cookie crust. I liked being able to drag my bites through the chocolate syrup streaks and whipped cream. Super yummy and a great end to dinner! Pictured are: Army Base Stew Budae-Jjigae - 부대찌개 : Korean-American fusion noodle dish made from umami-rich broth, Korean hot pepper, kimchi, spam, sausage, and mushrooms. Duk Bok E - 떡볶이 : Stir-fried spicy Korean rice cake and fish cake, add cheese. 808 Local Boy cheeseCAKE: Kona coffee infused cheesecake with an Oreo cookie crust with chocolate ganache, kokoleka shavings and light whip. Beast Mode Margarita: Pineapple Infused Libelula Tequila, Hennessey VS, Sage Infused Agave, Fresh Lime, Activated Charcoal, Bubbly. (We ordered it spicy.) Notorious P.O.G.: Vodka, Passionfruit, Orange, Guava, Amaro, Fresh Lime, Club Soda.

Yelp
Smallest portion of calamari I've ever seen anywhere. There was like 6-7 small pieces of calamari with the appetizer. The bar is also too bright, I felt like I was at an airport bar.

Yelp
Been meaning to visit for sometime as Marshawn is one of my favorite all-time players. First, I've worked in South Downtown for 20+ years and there's rarely a venue - other than an occasional food cart - that has impressed. And you''ll rarely find value. So Lynch's place gets props for a clean and aesthetically appealing interior. And our server, Jasmine, was great! The Kahlua Pork sliders on Happy Hour were meh, the bun kinda dry. Unfortunately, the ample portion fries were my least favorite kind: beer battered with spice. This is not their fault, but as a fry aficionado I can't stand this variety. Others may love them. The cocktail menu looks tasty. I'm gonna try breakfast and lunch and hopefully raise my experience. The menu isn't focused, this place could be so much more.

Yelp
Had the breakfast here as part of the hotel stay. We ordered the ube mochi waffle, pandan mochi waffle, the continental breakfast. The mochi waffles had mochi texture but no ube or pandan flavoring at all. The popcorn chicken that came with it was fine but the dipping sauce was watered down sriracha instead of gochujang sauce. Service friendly and nice ample seating. Not impressed with food, service and location was decent.

Yelp
When I saw Beastro by Marshawn Lynch I had to dine. I was a huge fan when he was in the NFL. The food, service and options did not disappoint. I opted for the safe choice as I'm not a huge Korean food fan, and know I love bulgogi so that was what I chose. YUM! A generous portion with a side of rice $23. The flavor was on par with offerings I've tried previously and thankfully it wasn't mostly onion. I dined at the bar and the bar tender was very knowledgeable on the menu to answer questions. I would most definitely recommend Beastro and would dine here again if travels bring me to downtown Portland.

Yelp
Quiet eatery, found within a hotel. Lots of booths and ample tables to sit at, seems like a great place for a quick coffee chat. Staff were kind and food was brought out quickly. My boyfriend really enjoyed his eggs Benedict. My pandan mochi waffle was a let down though, the batter could've definitely been cooked longer. It was very gummy and thinner than it presented itself to be. The chicken though was good, had a nice crunch from the mochiko flour they used to batter it. I'd be interested in checking out their lunch menus next time instead of breakfast. Pretty cool to see the fusion foods provided.

Yelp
What a strange place. I gave this place a chance because I wanted something nearby but what a disappointment it was. The presentation of the dishes reminded me of cafeteria food. The plate the kalbi was served on was huge and made this dish look really sad and sparse. The price didn't really justify the small portions either. This is supposed to be a hotel restaurant I guess? The interior decor felt very sterile and corporate. I could see this place getting traction for those working downtown and need a nearby spot for lunch. Don't be fooled though, service was on the slow side even though there were only 2 other groups of diners that afternoon.

Yelp
Best happy hour I've been to in Portland since the happy hour glory days circa 2007-2008! The food was really good for such a reasonable price! We went on a Saturday around 3pm and the place was pretty empty and quiet so the attention we received was superb. Of all food ordered, the poke salad, shrimp tempura, chicken strips and spam musabi were the favorites. Spicy chicken sando was most anticipated yet least loved.

Yelp
I've been a huge fan of Marshawn Lynch, when I found out he was making an API-themed restaurant in hommage to his Filipino heritage I was impressed. Here was my experience. AMBIANCE: Parking: It's in a hotel so you can do hotel parking or there's metered parking on the streets. Seating: Inside seating for about 50 people with your option of groups or bar seating. Vibes: The area is in Portland so it's an eventful place from cars passing by, local activities in the park, or traffic of other restaurants. The place itself is pretty neat. I enjoyed the natural lighting, the 90s music, the hip and vibrant logo, and the clean look of the bistro. It's a great place to get work done, network, or watch a game! FOOD: Spam Musubi (Recommend) $10~ A slice of SPAM marinated in island sauce, with a block of rice wrapped in seaweed wrap x3! A solid fulfilling choice. The SPAM was cooked and well-marinated for a sweet and umami taste. The seaweed gave it a nice ocean-salt flavor and the write helped fulfill and neutralize the flavors. Spicy Party Wings w/ Fries (Recommend) $15 For your classic comfort, this is your go. The portions were pretty generous, the fries were crunchy and well-seasoned. The wings weren't that spicy but still had a nice kick, it wasn't overwhelmingly sauced up which was good and what stood out was its strong crunch. Purple Drank (Recommend)d $13 A little sweet and a little tart. I'm usually used to sweet and creamy things associated with ube but the lime gave it that citrus kick and the orgeat provided some sweet flavors to it. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Amber was a sweetheart. Bubbly, professional, and knowledgeable with the menu. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. This place was great! Good selections, reasonable prices, and a pleasant ambiance. I was hoping for more Filipino flavors but hopefully, that'll be part of this restaurant's growth. I will certainly come back as I would like to try their other dishes throughout the day. Until then, best wishes to Marshawn "Beast Mode" Lynch and his team at this restaurant. #SupportBlackOwnedBusinesses #FilipinoFoodMovement TIPS: * Their menu changes - breakfast, happy hour, and dinner so come accordingly.

Yelp
Spent a fun and chatty dinner here with my milbrat bff. Casual people of Portland do visit here and enjoys a select menu that's very palatable I had some appetizers while my bff had a fusion noodle with chicken plate. Food was good and delicious

Yelp
It was just ok! I have to admit the menu was a little underwhelming. The service was excellent and the atmosphere is good. The tempura was undercooked. The ramen was ok it came out hot but lacked flavor. The best thing I tried was short ribs which were yummy and the pot stickers.

Yelp
Tough to review this one because the food is SO much better than the service, which makes for a bummer in-between space. First, be aware that you cannot customize or make substitutions to ANYthing on the menu. We were told that the kitchen staff does not speak English and cannot accommodate any changes to dishes because of the language barrier between them and the front-of-house staff. That's fine, but it also meant that our server couldn't answer a few very basic questions about what was IN some of the dishes, like when I tried to find out if something I wanted to order had mushrooms in it (to which I'm allergic). Not ideal. Wait. let me back up: It took our server ages to get to us in the first place, despite the fact that only two other tables were occupied. Eventually, someone else approached us and simply said, in passing, "You ordered, right?" We told her no, no one had been to our table yet. Our server, who came over a few minutes later, was rude and short with us, barely looking at us or uttering any sort of friendly word. She left before we could even order drinks, so we weren't able to place those orders until we were almost done eating. The food we ultimately did order was good, though. Beastro's menu is broad and varied, spanning different types of cuisines. My kimchi pancake was crispy but not greasy, full of flavor and with a really great dipping sauce. My mom's japchae noodles were also very flavorful, and the veggies tasted very fresh. I loved the Purple Drank, a creamy ube cocktail, so much that I ordered it again the next night from the bar (because we were staying in the attached hotel). With better service, I'd be able to highly recommend this place -- and when we sat at the bar on other nights, the service was much better. All of the other food we saw come out of the kitchen looked great, and we loved our drinks. A solid spot, food-wise, but it could use some work on the friendliness front.

Yelp
Great location right off Broadway in downtown PDX. The restaurant is not big big it it is part of the Hotel Vance. We ended up stopping for a quick breakfast. Prices were in line with other restaurants and service was spot on and super friendly. Restaurant is very clean and air conditioned. We got a breakfast sandwich with Portuguese sausage with the DingDing spices. While the sandwich and presentation were just ok, the actual sandwich was delicious. I would totally eat it again. It came on a lightly butter brioche bun that was toasted and that extra crunchiness made it delightful. I'm sure their other dishes are just as delicious.

Yelp
Ugh. What a disappointment. Headed here for lunch before a show at the Keller. The restaurant is pretty barren and a tad industrial. Not sure what they were trying for, but a miss in that department. Server was a tad terse the menu looked great! Breakfast or lunch was available. We were a 4 top and all opted for lunch. I chose the beef ribs and pork plate. The pork was nicely seasoned and the ribs were great! The Mac was bland, not the best. The rice was fine but no sauce or options were served with it. Another ordered the pork sandwich - it was alright, nothing exciting, served with battered fries from the freezer. My other 2 friends ordered plates with chicken and one with shrimp and the other pork. The shrimp was great. We dug in. The drinks were served 3 Hawaiian coffee and a claw. The food comes out, it took a long time to arrive. There was only a 4 top and a 2 top that were already eating. We dig in. Had to flag down the server to get some soy sauce for the rice, no other options were offered. Here is where things went south quickly. Took a bite of the chicken - uncooked. Not just uncooked but cool and uncooked. Yikes. Gross. Flag down server to alert her to the problem. One friend is beyond grossed out and stopped eating her meal. The server came back to get evidence that the chicken was raw. At this point the meal was ruined. The whole event sullied. The server could have done so many things to have saved the meal. Nope. "Not a lot of oh my goodness, or oh I am so sorry. What can I do. " She comes back and gives us attitude and says her boss will kill her. Blah blah blah. Hey server I don't care! YOUR KITCHEN SERVED RAW CHICKEN. I am more concerned with my stomach causing issues during the show. Finally she takes 2 meals off the ticket. Okay. That great but no need to be annoyed with us. No need to serve up attitude we weren't yelling or screaming. We were shocked by the RAW CHICKEN. Shocking I know... but I will not return.

Yelp
We visited Beastro by Marshawn following the 2022 Shamrock run. The restaurant is located inside Hotel Vance; a Marriott property. The restaurant itself is surrounded by big windows which would normally be great for letting in a lot of natural light. However, typical Portland, it was drizzling and overcast. There were low and high table tops as well as booths to choose from for seating. The ambiance was a bit modern. The restaurant was clean. The staff were nice. The food is marketed as Island and Korean Fusion. I found the menu a bit limited, but decided to order the Portuguese Sausage Fried Rice* (gf) $15. It consisted of fried white rice with Portuguese sausage, carrots, peas, scrambled eggs seasoned with "Aloha" shoyu. It was a large serving, enough I would say to share with four (4) people, but it was predominantly rice and very little sausage. My husband ordered the Breakfast of Champions* $15. It consisted of 2 Eggs, Choice of Protein (Bacon, Sausage Patties, Spam or Portuguese Sausages), Choice of Side (Garlic Country Fried Potatoes , Rice or Fresh Fruits), and Choice of Toast (White/Wheat/Sourdough). It was a very small portion. This wouldn't be on my return visit list or recommendation list for a breakfast spot for friends coming into town. In re-reading the reviews, most are higher ratings but for their dinner service.
google avatar

Anthony A.

Yelp
We stopped in after the Shamrock run. The area is open and airy. Plenty of space to sit and eat. Comfortable booths for a party of four. The food is subpar. Everyone was underwhelmed about the food. Is bland was a food group, all of the food here would be pictured. The drinks I heard were above average. I don't drink so I guess anything with alcohol is good. Go for the drinks avoid the food. The staff is great! They're friendly and attentive. They did their best to make the meal and stay enjoyable.

Yelp
My sister is visiting from out of town and mentioned this restaurant. I got us reservations and today we finally experienced it. I will say reservations were probably not needed for a Tuesday night but they did give us great seating with my name on it so it felt extra cute. The restaurants ambiance is very underwhelming, it's very much a hotel type of decoration and it was a little let down. For parking it's at a hotel so there's plenty of parking I'm assuming but we had a ride. The drinks were amazing, the purple drank, the POG and the seasonal drinks all came out looking and tasting amazing. The food was also amazing. It's mostly Asian style dishes and they all were great. The kimchi fried rice I highly suggest! The dessert was AMAZING. 10/10 will dream of it tonight. Overall was a great experience and I'm very satisfied. Staff was friendly and fast (I broke a glass and staff members came out so quick to help clean and reassure me it was fine!) It's a low key spot with great food, and drinks!

Yelp
I know what you're thinking: why does Marshawn Lynch, who is from California, have a restaurant in Portland?! I have no clue. But as I love the Seahawks I had to check it out when I was in town with my mom. I will say the food is good, but not amazing. This is the PNW. It takes a lot to stand out as great Asian food. Highlight was the mimosa's. They had several different flavors and all that we tried were delicious. Service was slow, but I don't blame our waitress. She was the only one on the floor (the place isn't big) when we arrived. I am not sure it if was just being short staffed or not. She did her best though and was friendly. Ambiance is casual-ish. We were there at brunch/lunch time, and there was a mix of families, groups of friends, and couples. It's one of those places that wants to be super trendy but is not quite there. Overall, I'd go here again if someone I was with really wanted to visit, but it's not my first choice.
google avatar

Jez V.

Yelp
Finally got to try brunch at this place! We immediately noticed that there was only one server on the floor, which was quite a surprise. I agree with the other review below regarding low staffing. The server, however, had excellent service. He was so apologetic about the wait for our food (at least 45 minutes), made sure to always refill our drinks, and checked in with us frequently. We got the pandan mochi waffles with popcorn chicken and the Hawaiian breakfast. The waffles were very sweet and definitely had the chewy consistency that mochi has. I was hesitant about pairing it with the popcorn chicken but it was pretty good! I'm not sure if I enjoyed the furikake seasoning on the waffles though.. I guess it was seasoned on the chicken but it's inevitable that you will be eating it with the waffles too. The Hawaiian breakfast was mediocre, but that's my personal opinion. I'm definitely looking forward to trying the food from their dinner menu one day though!
google avatar

Malinda K.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service! I've gone there a few times and it's always a great experience. I would prefer dinner menu but lunch still has a pretty variety as well
google avatar

Beau S.

Yelp
I have been here 4-5 times at various parts of the day. I will say what I have enjoyed the most is the Hawaiian options the most. The fried rice is amazing and the Hawaiian breakfast burrito they used to have on the menu is what I crave the most. I would say the service has been very hit or miss and I assuming mostly just shorthanded. I do enjoy the layout of the spot and could be fun with the right crowd at night.

Yelp
Food (5/5): I stayed at Hotel Vance, which is connected to this restaurant, for several days so I got a chance to go to this place multiple times for breakfast and a bit for dinner. For a restaurant connected to a hotel this place is surprisingly well priced and delicious. Usually most hotel restaurants are overpriced and not good, but Beastro has excellent food options and uniquely has a lot of great Korean Hawaiian food. Since I'm part of Marriott Platinum they gave us daily breakfast for two. While the options were limited the offerings were quite good. I particularly liked the ham omelette and country potatoes which had a well made omelette plus crispy and nicely seasoned potatoes. The fit and flex granola breakfast was also surprisingly good. For dinner, we enjoyed the army stew, Kimchi fried rice, and bimbimbap. Venue (4/5): Well spaced restaurant with large windows and appears clean. Overall a nice and modern looking restaurant. The improvement I'd recommend is that the place gives off the vibe of a regular sports bar American restaurant rather than a Korean Hawaiian fusion place. It'd be great to be more in line with the food theme. Service (5/5): Having gone here multiple days, I'd say that most of the servers and service here is excellent. The first day for breakfast, the waitress was a bit curt and while helpful wasn't particularly friendly. However, the following waiter we had the rest of the breakfasts was super friendly and helpful. Also for dinner, the waitress was also extremely friendly and even chatted with us about why the restaurant decided to do a Hawaiian Korean fusion. Most of the times, the food also came out fast and efficiently.

Yelp
Conveniently located in Downtown Portland, but just a super random menu. Like American meets Korean meets Hawaiian? Don't know the words but it's an interesting concept. We came in for brunch and it was not that busy, which I guess should have been our warning sign. Don't get me wrong, the food isn't horrible but it's just standard. Nothing super amazing to rave about. But I will say, some of the drinks are really unique. We got the poke and we shared the pandan chicken waffle. Out of the two, go with the waffle since it is a unique flavor. The poke was just a bit underwhelming for me. Again, not terrible but it would not be my first choice.

Mikhail K.

Yelp
Breakfast was very fast only 30 minutes. There were 5 people in the restaurant, the cook cooked an omelet for 30 minutes. He never cooked it, I had to leave. Terrible place.

Yelp
Order: Beast Mode Margarita Pineapple Infused Libelula Tequila, Hennessey VS, Sage Infused Agave, Fresh Lime, Activated Charcoal, Bubbly. Spicy. (How Marshawn Lynch has his Margarita). Eggs Benedict* Choice of Crispy Pork Belly on a Bed of Arugula on a English Muffin with homemade Hollandaise served with Country Fried Potatoes. Pros: the eggs Benedict is not bad. The pork belly was nice and crispy, the egg was cooked to perfection. Not overly salty but could use a dash!!! Overall, very very good. Cons: The drink is not bad. The spicy is not super spicy. So if you're looking for a kick this aint it. The drink gives you more flavored seltzer water vibes.

Yelp
I really wanted to like Beastro as my friend is a really huge fan, but this place was just not great. Beastro is located in a modern hotel downtown. We were one of two groups there on a Friday night. With the restaurant primarily empty, the service was slow. Our table was not attended to regularly with water glasses empty. On top of that, one of our friends is in recovery and ordered a virgin mojito. Yes, he said "virgin" and they brought it to him spiked. He took one sip and knew there was alcohol. We brought it up to the server who blamed the bartender for incorrectly hearing her. This is a big deal, but apparently not for the restaurant? Beastro offers primarily Korean food on the menu. We had Army Stew, Bulgogi, Bi Bim Bap, and Korean Fried Chicken. Army Stew came out on a burner to keep it nice and warm. Korean Chicken was similar to the popcorn chicken you would get at boba shops. My friend liked the Bi Bim Bap. Everything was okay except for the Bulgogi which was overcooked and chewy. There are other wonderful restaurants in Portland that offer Korean food. Because Beastro is tied to an NFL player shouldn't allow subpar service and food. I'd skip this place unless you are actually staying in the hotel and want a convenient place to go to.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this restaurant. I stayed in Portland for two nights on my business trip. The first night, I stopped in for drinks and appetizers before meeting some colleagues out for dinner. The bartender Metete was incredible!!! I cannot speak higher about her level of customer service and attentiveness. She was so great, that I came back for dinner on my second night. She had the entire bar laughing and conversing with each other. It really created an awesome vibe! And the food was great too. I ordered the Beef Hot Pot. It was a very large portion. My favorite drink was by far the Purple Drank. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Portland, that's for sure!

Yelp
Overall I would go here again if I was craving some kimchi fried rice or some beef short ribs. Both were really delicious and I finished it all. The Kimchi fried rice was great with all the veggies and right amount of kimchi. It wasn't overwhelming with spicy and very moderate. I'm not a huge fan of spice but I can't pass up kimchi fried rice and this is one of the better ones in my opinion. Just know if you're looking for SPICY, this is not the one but it's still packed with flavor. The beef short ribs were also delicious and cooked to perfection. The meat was so tender and juicy it just pulled apart from the rest of the meat. Usually I'm very picky with my short ribs but they did a great job. The cheesecake that my partner ordered was also delicious but she thought it was too sour. 9/10 on the cheesecake for me and I'd eat it again but the cocktail she had was way too over powering to me and tasted like straight alcohol and tonic water. Why not 5 stars? Well for our duration of the visit who I was probably around an hour, we were only greeted and asked our choices at the start and no one ever came back around to refill our waters the entire time. Mind you the place was quite empty with maybe 3-4 other tables seated and the glasses are half glasses so the water is gone fast. I had to ask our waitress for some additional water toward the end when she dropped off a glass bottle of water for us, not sure why it wasn't dropped off to begin with if they were going to do that?

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Jasmine was our server, and made it super easy for 11 people to order. To drink I ordered the beast mode margarita and it was a great blend. The beef bulgogi was seasoned to perfection. Wings weren't that spicy but loved the sauce. Everything was brought out on time and happy to support business by Marshawn!

Yelp
I love Marshawn Lynch (give him the ball Pete!) and I love Asian food. But there was much to not like about this hotel establishment in downtown PDX. The ramen I got seemed like it came from a package! The noodles were too ordinary without a real bite to them ... the broth not flavored properly and the veggies were just bean sprouts and some green onions. The fried calamari was not plentiful, the breading too stiff. The only thing it had going for it was that the calamari meat was fairly tender. Maybe the drinks were better? Or I should just order the skittles burger next time!

Yelp
Great lunch place if you're downtown! I love the poke salad and the veggie bibimbap The staff are super nice too, quick take out for a work lunch and great vibes for happy hour.

Yelp
This place looks like it was originally going to combine Filipino/Hawaiian/K-town cuisine, but pivoted to standard Korean bar food. That being said, the food is actually not bad, although not particularly outstanding. It's probably one of the best options that's actually open in the downtown hotel area on the weekends, though, as it was pretty packed on a Sunday afternoon.

Yelp
Over priced. Over cooked. Raw. Late. Order lunch using uber eats pick up. Told it would be an hour. Waited an hour and that's when the server told to cook to start my order. Floor was gross and sticky. Ordered a Hawaiian breakfast. 2 eggs (sunnyside), 2 pieces of sausage, 2 pieces of spam, rice. Got 1 egg that was medium on the bottom, soft on top, and raw in between. Spam was overcooked and dry. Portion was skimpy at best. Got the Marshawn punch to drink. Got a cup full of lime juice instead. And spend 10 minutes watching the server fuss around trying to make it. Server had a bandaid on her finger but wore no glove.

Yelp
Ambiance was great, food was just ok, a lot of it was bland not much flavor. Our waitress was solo and emotionless

Yelp
Small restaurant located in the lobby of hotel vance. When you enter the doors the restaurant will be on your right. There are large glass windows on the outside so you can spot it easily on your way there. Parking is hard to find we had to walk a block or two. Now to the food! We ordered a bunch of different dishes but my favorites were the corn cheese, kimchi jeongol, and saam gyup sal. The portions are large especially for the soup. We had two soups for our large party and could even finish one. The kimchi fried rice was pretty good and I didn't really care for the beef hot pot or the other appetizers/food we ordered.

Yelp
We had a reservation last night. The place was packed but we were able to get seated in time. The server, took about 10 minutes before we were asked for our order, I noticed that he was not writing any of our orders down. We repeated our orders about 3 times with him and he missed something every time. At this point we knew we were not going to get all that we had ordered. Food arrived about 40-45 minutes and as to be expected, one of our orders did not make it. Most of the items we ordered are a bit too spicy for my liking. The other servers came to check on us and were nice. Please, have your servers carry a pad or a tablet to take orders. I get sometimes it can get busy, but that just makes matters worse.

Yelp
This restaurant is inside Hotel Vance. I stayed here during college move-in day for my son, it's close by... The only regret is we tried the place on the last night. My friend stopped by and we were struggling on where to eat... we thought we should try (my experience with restaurant inside the hotel hasn't been great) and glad we did... My friend was under strict dietary restrictions and they accommodated that without flinching... and I tried the short ribs and their passion fruit cheesecake... I must say everything was excellent... chefs kiss! The manager was so awesome and super attentive... my friend was in a bit of a rush and we had to run out and run back to eat... he said he'd reserve a table... it was the cutest thing... he listened and wrote a note (I loooove sweets) and my friend can't hence the words there... it made us smile... If you're ever in the Portland area, stop by Beastro inside Hotel Vance, you will not be disappointed. (I'm going back in November and I'll definitely be stopping by)

Yelp
The staff at this place is incredibly sweet, making the experience truly delightful. Even the brand new bartender, whose name I unfortunately didn't catch, was exceptional. I came here just for a few drink while staying at the hotel, and the service added a memorable touch to my evening.

Yelp
Restaurant was ready to miss when driving at night, otherwise great experience. Service was good, attentive and friendly waitress. Food was perfectly seasoned, the spicy edamame had a sweetness to it so it wasn't terribly spicy. Restaurant was clean and comfortable, will definitely be returning next time in town.

Yelp
When I was planning my trip to Portland and discovered that Marshawn had a restaurant here, I knew I had to stop by. It's located in the lobby of a very modern hotel and there are tv's for viewing which is nice on game days! I came on a Saturday afternoon and was seated immediately. The staff was friendly enough and the bartender was heavy on the pours so no complaints from me there. As for food, everything tasted okay. Not amazing, but not bad. I ordered the Combo Plate with Fried Chicken and Garlic Shrimp. The chicken was extra crispy, but some of the meat was moist while other parts were dry. The shrimp was garlicky and flavorful, but slightly overcooked. The rice is rice, made just fine. The potato salad was okay as well. Being from the Bay Area, food with asian influences are a daily meal for me so I appreciate the diversity in the menu and would visit again to try other things in hopes of finding something I really like.

Yelp
This review would be 5 stars if they actually had the things on their menu. The service was good and the food was good (when we found something on the menu that they actually had) the place was clean. The whole experience was ok...

Yelp
Would highly recommend the eggs Benedict with crispy pork belly and a side of the Portuguese sausage. Will definitely come back and try the dinner menu.

Yelp
Located in the lobby area of a very modern hotel, the restaurant also has a pretty modern feel. Important to note, that the Hawaiian food is served during the day, and they have a separate dinner menu. The food is good but a little pricy. We got a combo plate with the kaula pork and garlic shrimp, and added a side of fried chicken. It was enough for two people, but maybe not two famished folks. The pork was a bit dry and flavorless so we asked for additional hot sauce. The shrimp was fine. The chicken was nice and crispy.

Yelp
This place was nice-- small, but nice. It's a little restaurant in a hotel in Portland and it had a fairly diverse menu with some Korean influences. We just got a couple of drinks here and they were pretty good. We enjoyed the soju flight and all the flavors. Apple was interesting, probably one of our least favorites, but to each their own! I also had like a charcoal margarita (I think that's what it was) and it was good flavor. I wouldn't feel the need to have to get again but I would go back and try more food as the people in our group who go chicken and waffles seemed super satisfied.

Yelp
My friend and I were intrigued by this place as our first stop in Portland. We were looking for Portland exclusive foods and ran into this place owned by Marshawn Lynch which piqued our interest. We decided to give it a try from its Hawaiian Korean fusion dishes. We ordered: -Vegan Pate Choux - delicious, the filling didn't taste meatless at all 5/5 -Loco Moco sub with Pork - recommended by our waitress as she said this is how she ate it in Hawaii. I think I should've just kept the original patty option but still pretty good 5/5 -Imitation Crab roll: My friend ordered this which came out like a hand roll. She said the rice to meat ratio wasn't too great and she wouldn't order it again 2/5 Overall, the service was great but food was mediocre except for the Pate Choux. It was worth trying once, but not sure if I would go again.

Yelp
Love the food and cocktails! I recommend the Saam Gyup Sal (Grilled fresh pork belly served with rice). The meat is cooked well and love the sides! Calamari is a good option for appetiser. For drinks we had Notorious P.O.G. And Lychee Blossom, everything taste good!

Yelp
First time trying Beastro. Went with friends following seeing the Frida exhibit at the PAM. This is a great restaurant location located inside the Marriott hotel and close to so many activities including the Saturday farmers market at PSU. The weekend brunch menu has a nice mix of breakfast and lunch items. The menu is created including their drink menu. The only downside of the experience was the slow service. I think they were short staffed and seemed to be running. It took well over an hour for our food to come and when it did, it was in dribbles so the last entree came about 20 minutes later than the first. My poke was forgotten and they offered to make it quickly but it all worked out because I was full from the other dishes we ordered. We had to ask for water multiple times and we were close to being ready to leave before we were asked if we wanted a second drink from the bar. The staff were super nice and apologetic. Being surrounded by dirty tables was a bit off putting. The food was great! The wedge salad was so fresh and huge! The chicken and mochi waffles was the perfect combo of sweet and spicy. The musbi (full dish) was 3 large pieces and so good! And the classic pate so was amazing! Flaky, filled with pork and veggies! The food truly was amazing!

Yelp
This restaurant is inside of a hotel. No issue getting a table for brunch on Saturday as there were several open. Cool light/wall decor, not sure about the table/chair furniture choices. Somehow it felt like I was eating at a "hip" airport spot. We ordered: - matcha soufflé pancakes, really enjoyed this one. Had the right amount of soft/jiggly texture and not overly sweet. Serving size was a lot smaller than anticipated. So if you are hungry would recommend getting a side or two to round out. - pandan waffles, pandan flavor is very light and the waffle was perhaps too crispy for our liking but that may be the eggshell type waffle style. Fried basil chicken that came with it was the star of the dish. Juicy and nicely fried. Overall, a decently interesting Asian fusion brunch spot to check out in Portland when you're trying to vary it up from the usual brunch fare/food cart situations.

Yelp
Yes, definitely yes. Idk what Marshawn has to do with Korean food, but I really enjoyed our dinner here. The service was great, the atmosphere was pretty cool, and the variety of food tasted good. I'll go back again.

Yelp
Was a little turned off by some of the negative reviews on here, but our experience was better than I had expected. The food was cooked well and I enjoyed every bite. There was only one server during brunch on a Saturday but since it was almost empty that didn't seem to be a problem. Our service was relatively quick. I think it was a bit too expensive for the value, (selling a $6 bottle of soju for $18, and a shot for $5) but being in downtown Portland inside a nice hotel lobby probably contributed to this.
