Beausoleil - Review - Garden Oaks - Houston - The Infatuation

"Black-and-white reruns of Julia Child play above the bar at Beausoleil, which gives you an idea of the vibe at this Garden Oaks French restaurant: elegant, but not too serious. It’s a study in contrasts, as patrons in flip-flops and shorts join neighbors on the front porch to slurp fresh oysters after their kids’ baseball practice, while couples dressed to impress murmur sweet nothings across white-linen tables while sipping French 77s. Start with the bread service, which comes with butter of the gods, a whipped spread of foie gras, bone marrow, truffle, blue cheese, and Wagyu beef tallow piped directly into a split bone. The main dishes are just as enticing. There’s thick spaghetti with briny sautéed oysters and Spanish chorizo, tangled up in a creamy garlic and white wine sauce. And the dry-aged, bone-in pork chop is drenched in apricot demiglace, a sweet-and-smoky bite that made us close our eyes in delight. With a long bar for extended hangouts and its casual atmosphere, Beausoleil feels like a slightly fancier-than-usual neighborhood spot, but Inner Loopers should still make the trek north of 610 for the butter blessed by the divine alone." - Brianna McClane

Houston Restaurant Openings to Know Right Now, April 2025 | Eater Houston

"A French-leaning restaurant from a chef-owner with steak expertise that fuses French technique with Cajun and Texas influences, offering an emphasis on varied cuts of beef (filets, koji-aged wagyu rib-eye, lamb chops) alongside delicate seafood and classic French plates like Dover sole, Burgundy escargot, seared diver scallops with truffle risotto, and steamed mussels finished in a garlicky, chorizo-enhanced broth." - Brittany Britto Garley

We celebrated my husband’s birthday here last night, and wow what an incredible experience! The service was truly 5-star. Every staff member was warm, attentive, and took the time to walk us through the menu in detail. As a special touch, they even surprised us with champagne to celebrate his birthday, which made the evening feel extra memorable. Every dish we ordered was absolutely spectacular. My husband is still raving about the lamb, and I tried escargot for the very first time and it was so delicious I wanted to drink the sauce (though I restrained myself!). Beyond the food, I loved the thoughtful details: the beautiful floral china and elegant glassware added such a timeless, classy feel. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance too. Some guests were dressed up while others were casual, which gave it both a neighborhood charm and a special-occasion vibe. We especially love that it’s within walking distance for us, making it feel like such a gift to have this gem in our own neighborhood. If I had one small note, it would be that the tablecloths could use a quick steam to smooth out the fold lines but honestly, that’s such a minor detail in an otherwise perfect evening. We’re still talking about how much we loved everything, and we can’t wait to come back sooner rather than later!

I had an unforgettable dinner here. Everything about the restaurant is beautiful and elegant, and the staff is friendly, attentive and very approachable. I didn’t get their names except for Jeremiah who was great to chat with; I thank every one of them for a great experience. The bread service is an absolute must; DO NOT MISS IT. Their “Butter of the Gods” is so rich. I wanted to order another. The seared foie gras is as delicious as you would expect. And the branzino with the lemon butter sauce is perfectly prepared, elegantly presented and also of course delicious. I’m planning on the baked oysters and wagyu ribeye for the next time.

Very solid experience. Came here with some coworkers for lunch and was expecting a slightly different menu but everything was great nonetheless from the wait staff to the aperitif. Highly recommend the bread plate and crab cakes. The ribeye was also perfectly cooked. We'll be back again for sure

What an outstanding lunch! I'm gleeful to discover this tiny, delicious, friendly, beautiful gem of a restaurant. Everything was on the mark and then some! The food was over the top scrumptious. Service was extremely friendly, prompt, respectful. Each dish surprised with incredible flavor. I can't wait to go back!

This is one of the most exceptional restaurants I have had the pleasure dining in Houston. I had an anniversary dinner Friday night, we had a reservation for 9:30 and we were running a bit late so I was worried the kitchen would be closed since the kitchen would be close at 10pm. Despite being 10 minutes late, the service and kitchen staff was phenomenal. I don’t think I have anything bad to say about Beausoleil, truly I wish we had known about this sooner. We ordered the bread service and snow crab claw special for appetizer, and we also received baked oysters as complement from the restaurant. That snow crab claw special was divine, the lobster bisque sauce was amazing and I hope at some point they could consider making it a permanent menu item! Bread was well toasted and seasoned, the bone marrow butter was so savory and hit the right fatty and salty notes. Oysters were also very delicious. For main entrees, we got the duck breast and rack of lamb. The lamb was great, but the DUCK was truly the best part of our meal in my opinion. I have never tried duck like this in Houston, this was cooked so perfectly medium and the sauces and sides paired so well. It truly took me back to France. We also got dessert, but unfortunately we did not get pictures, they were also to die for. We ordered the Crepe Suzette, and we also got a chocolate mousse as another complement from the restaurant. These were the perfect amount of sweetness without feeling bad. I would guarantee recommend anyone to get these two desserts. Honestly, the restaurant staff and kitchen staff made our first dining experience at Beausoleil, a memorable one. We’re very grateful to our scottish server, whom we have forgotten your name, and the entire kitchen and bar staff for being so hospitable. May y’all continue to be more successful in the coming years! Very happy to have another gem in the Houston food scene.

Run ! Walk ! Drive ! It doesn’t matter how you arrive , just get yourself to this fabulous eatery. Yesterday , I had a friend visiting from out of town . On a whim , we drove by and entered . The restaurant was not officially opened for business ( due to our lack of inattention ) and we were greeted and told to please come in and enjoy. Edgar our bartender took great care of us. Each person who took the time to make our visit special even though they were not yet open . We enjoyed the oysters and the hot sauces were superb . I will be back soon. It was so refreshing to receive such hospitality and customer service that went above and beyond. It’s so nice to know this gem 💎 exists and that it was found by happenstance. Notable mention: they have a parking lot which is a huge plus!

An Epic Birthday Celebration & Culinary Delight! From the moment we stepped into BeauSoleil HTX in Houston, we knew we were in for something special. Our recent birthday celebration for one of our girlfriends was, in a word, epic, and a huge part of that was thanks to the impeccable service and truly exceptional French-American cuisine with a Cajun flair. Our server, Jeremiah, deserves a standing ovation. He was an absolute delight – attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about every dish, and possessed a wonderful, friendly demeanor that made us feel right at home. Jeremiah expertly guided us through the menu, offering insightful recommendations that proved to be spot on, and he was always there with a smile to ensure our glasses were full and our spirits were high. His service truly elevated our entire dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food, because BeauSoleil HTX delivered on every single front: We started with oysters, and they were a revelation. Fresh, briny, and perfectly chilled, each oyster was a taste of the Gulf, demonstrating the restaurant's commitment to high-quality seafood. We tried both the raw on the half shell and the Baked Oysters de BeauSoleil, and both were absolute perfection – the baked oysters with their spinach, parmesan, and crispy prosciutto topping were a decadent treat. The crab cakes were another highlight. These weren't your average filler-heavy crab cakes; these were packed with succulent, sweet lump crabmeat, lightly seasoned to let the natural flavors shine. Served with a delicate sauce that complemented rather than overwhelmed, they were a testament to classic preparation done flawlessly. The duck confit was simply divine. Tender, crispy-skinned, and rich with flavor, it was a masterclass in French culinary technique. The accompanying orange sauce and candied kumquats provided a perfect balance of sweetness and tang, cutting through the richness beautifully. A truly memorable dish that left us all wanting more. While we didn't indulge in "Cohen feet" (it seems there might have been a playful misremembering of a dish name or a fun inside joke amongst you girls!), the scallops we did share were utterly exquisite. Perfectly seared to a golden crust with a tender, melt-in-your-mouth interior, they were a testament to the kitchen's precision. Each scallop was plump and sweet, showcasing the freshness of the seafood. We loved how they were presented, a visual as well as a culinary treat. Every dish was clearly prepared with passion and skill, from the thoughtfully sourced ingredients to the artful presentation. The ambiance of BeauSoleil HTX is also worth noting – it's elegant yet approachable, creating the perfect atmosphere for a special occasion where laughter and good conversation can flow freely. For a simply for an outstanding meal in Houston, BeauSoleil HTX is an absolute must-visit. With phenomenal food, a beautiful setting, and the incredible service of Jeremiah, it's an experience we won't soon forget. We're already planning our next visit! You must go.

Finally made it to BeauSoleil and was genuinely impressed! Both of our seafood dishes were incredibly fresh and expertly prepared. We ordered the crab cakes as our starter and they were delicious. I loved the fresh tomato salad & pea shoots on top. The dressing for this salad had the perfect amount of acid to cut through the richness of the crab & the excellent tartar sauce. For our main we had the Bronzino and it was delicious as well. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and welcoming—perfect for a relaxed dinner or a night out with friends. What really stood out, aside from the food, was the attentive and friendly waitstaff. Service was smooth, knowledgeable, and never rushed. Another pleasant surprise: the wine list. It was refreshingly affordable with a solid range of bottles that paired beautifully with the menu. Definitely a rare find these days. Overall, this place gets high marks for quality, value, and experience. We’ll absolutely be back.

Yelp
I've never gone to a restaurant and felt like royalty. Everything, from the service to the food, was perfect and far exceeded any restaurant I've ever been to in Houston. We walk in and I am greeted by all the servers and owners. They make the restaurant feel like home and get to know me at a personal level. The cocktails were amazing, and the food was unreal. The head chef was romancing every dish as the food was being dropped off which enhanced the experience. This place ruined all other restaurants for me, LMAO. I'm 100% coming back. 10000/10

Yelp
I was recommended this establishment by a friend and was pleasantly impressed by my experience. Although it was raining outside, inside was romantic and cozy with French bistro music playing. There's a bar area, with tables in the front and a larger room in the back. Since it was HH, I ordered a dozen of East Coast oysters (Blue point, from Nova Scotia, and another I don't recall) they were served with a mignonette, a horseradish cream sauce, and a very good cocktail sauce. I also got the shrimp martini, mussels, and escargot to share. The oysters were buttery and plump, tasted so fresh. The shrimp martini was so delicious, jumbo briny shrimp with a tangy and creamy sauce. The escargot was buttery and succulent. If you haven't had it, it's basically like a buttery cooked oyster. The mussels were delectable, and the toast points were so good to soak up the sauce. Their heirloom tomato and burrata salad was awesome. It was served with a raspberry compote and a lemony dressing which complemented the creamy burrata. The bread service was alright. It didn't wow me, the bone marrow with blue cheese was an interesting combination but we enjoyed the bread to dip into the mussel broth. The filet was good. Although it was more on the rare side, we were able to send it back to have it cooked to medium. We also had the vanilla shaved cream for dessert. It was so creamy and the strawberry topping made it so delicious. Jeremiah and Donald were great and provided such attentive service. Will return in the future. Highly recommend!

Yelp
It's in the neighborhood. Small and imitate restaurant, would be good for date night or small party. Park can be hard if it's busy but I came on Sunday night and it was not so I was able to park on their lot. Service was 5/5. Foie gras (5/5) Scallops (5/5) perfectly cooked Char grilled oyster (4/5 A5 wagyu (4/5) Mash potatoes + greens beans (4/5) Shaved ice espresso dessert (3/5) Overall, a solid restaurant with good food, but their dessert menu isn't all that. I would definitely come back to try their other savory dishes.

Yelp
great happy hour spot for east coast oysters, mussels, escargot and cocktail shrimp (they were large but can tell they were frozen!). also has $20 bottles! can't beat that. service was great, enjoyed the outdoor seating area. my main con would be their parking situation. there wasn't really any lines so cars parked anywhere and everywhere. we were blocked in for over 30 minutes until workers, guests moved their vehicles will be back for hh again!

Yelp
Dined in on a Sunday at 8 pm for a party of two with reservations. We were seated immediately. Upon walking in, the place feels like an old little house with a mildewy smell. Food was fabulous. Service is very friendly and tentative. We ordered: Dozen East coast oysters: very good but was not cold Bread service: bone marrow was good but some of the bread was too hard (what she said) Burgundy escargot: huge snails with delicious sauce Crab cake: great flavors Foie gras: this was accidentally given to us and we enjoyed it Half rack of lamb: lamb was cooked to perfection and the sauce was very good

Yelp
We went to celebrate birthday! Started with the raw and baked oysters, both delicious! We also got the escargot! Recommend all 3! For entrees we had the roasted chicken , the pork chop and the foie gras!! All delicious! Server and chef were awesome! The pretty China and crystal stem wear topped it all!

Yelp
PSA!!! Beausoleil is a GEM in the heart of the Oak Forest/Garden Oaks area. I am beyond thrilled for a more upscale restaurant that I don't have to trek to the other side of town to get to or waste 20-30 minutes driving. Every detail from the glassware to the plates and the decor you can tell was meticulously picked. The wait staff and customer service was nothing less than exceptional. The team and owner went out of their way to ensure our dinner experience was memorable. Some highlights on the food: - order the off the menu items - the scallops were cooked perfectly and had a delicious buttery flavor mixed with the polento - Burrata salad - a perfect blend of tomatoes, true burrata (not mozzarella like some restaurants do) and the blackberry on top truly balanced it - Wagyu filet - cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of seasoning - Spanish Oyster Pasta - IMO a tad light on the oysters, but overall another great dish and the sauce on it tied the pasta together perfectly - DESSERT - DO NOT SKIP THIS!!! Holy moly - the vanilla shaved cream is like adult shaved dippin dots and was nothing less than extraordinary. The also gave us the Chocolate Mousse on the house and the lack of description on the menu does it a disservice as the mousse is wonderful and boasts amazing flavors with the fruit compote they blend in Drinks: - Do not overlook the cocktails!! We ordered different cocktails and both were equally delicious. Our waiter was knowledgeable on guiding us to the best red wine for what we ordered and to top if off, they gave us complimentary champagne for my friends birthday To top it all off - they have an Airbnb on the second floor!! The owner went out of his way and gave us a tour of the 2 bed, 2 bath and the wrap around porch makes it the perfect staycation getaway. Fabulous restaurant and can't wait to go back for HH and brunch!

Yelp
I've been twice and the ambiance seated or at the bar is perfect for a date or a group of friends. Working through the menu is tough because all the specials are hard to pass up, service is amazing ensuring you enjoy the experience. Jeremiah at the bar ensures consistency in the drinks and more importantly as being an awesome dude, great conversations and ensures the current infinity bottle is protected from bad choices. I've suggested this place to friends and they haven't been disappointed. Hang by the bar, you'll likely meet some locals that have taken a liking to one of my new favorites in Houston.

Yelp
Neighborhood gem, but well worth the trip from outside the Loop. Chef knows French food and the kitchen executes. Look forward to trying the patio.

Yelp
From the greeting at the door to the food/drinks the entire experience was great. I'd definitely be back here again and I'm recommending this to all of my friends. They have a great thing going here! Come check this place out

Yelp
Upscale spot! We enjoyed the happy hour drinks and the oysters. The service was nice. In and out for a quick little happy hour date during the week, this is your place.

Yelp
This is probably our 5th time here. T The service is always great and the owners are always attentive to their guests. The inside has such cool woody vibes and although the vibe and food is upscale, it's also a restaurant you can come casual and enjoy their happy hour. hey have an amazing happy hour with great drinks and 1.5 oysters. I would personally recommend their oysters, drinks and their wagyu ribeye that you can cut with a butter knife. Can't wait to try more of their menu items!

Sara S.

Yelp
Amazing! Went for brunch and had the menu. Every item was super delicious, and the ambience is super relaxing and transports you to the feel of being on vacation. Staff provides excellent service suggesting items that enhances the culinary adventure and making you feel so welcome like you are a cherished guest in their home. Loved every part of Beausoleil. Every part. Went back for oysters and mussels on happy hour at the bar and will definitely be back to bring family and friends. Service from Donald and Jeremiah was superb!

Yelp
We came here tonight for dinner and everything was AMAZING. Chef David is truly incredible at what he does. The staff was friendly and attentive. We started with the bread service and the Butter of the Gods is definitely named correctly. It was heavenly. Chef brought us out the baked oysters and crab cake which were both very tasty as well. For our main course I had the pork chop and my bf had the branzino. I will be dreaming of this pork chop until I can have it again. It was so tender and flavorful. We ended with the chocolate mousse which was divine. We will definitely be back for dinner and can't wait to try out the brunch as well!

Yelp
Went for happy hour drinks and oysters, and was not disappointed. Cocktails were great and the service was fantastic. Right when we walked in the door we were treated with a helpful smile. We sat on the patio and luckily the Houston weather wasn't too bad. Hastily posting this review because we want this place to ourselves.

Yelp
I give this place a 10 out of 10 I really enjoyed the dinner and the drinks are appropriately priced. I think the food quality was pretty high, which match the price and I would definitely come back. I like the way the hip styled the space and I was able to eat on the patio in my own little neighborhood. I think they're figuring out a few kinks, but I felt like this was a really nice fine dining experience. Service was great.

Kim D.

Yelp
Fantastic experience! Drinks were fire and the food was absolutely amazing. Mussels, oysters, foie gras and the steak were all phenomenal. Definitely a spot to add to your must try list! Staff and owner are wonderful!

Daphne T.

Yelp
Food and service were great. But I could not enjoy anything because the private space assigned to our group was stuffy and so hot and uncomfortable. That was a deal-breaker for me. The ice in my drink melted in no time and the drink tasted like water after. There was no aircon in the space we were in - only a slow ceiling fan. The windows were all closed. Not a great time at all. I wanted to leave 5 mins after sitting down but was with friends so I had no choice. The one thing to note is the restaurant called my friend to confirm the reservation and did not inform her that they are putting us in a room with no aircon. Any restaurant would have brought this up so the patrons can be aware. It's not even outdoor seating with the windows closed. It was just stuffy and not enjoyable - at least outdoors is not stifling.

Kelly M.

Yelp
This might be our new favorite restaurant. Literally every dish was fantastic. We had the bread service, crab cake, escargot and branzino. Every single one was wonderful - I was practically licking the plate. Can't wait to go back!

Meghan J.

Yelp
Best experience! Delicious food, great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Cant wait to come back soon!

Clinton K.

Yelp
Wonderful food and a staff. It's a smaller neighborhood spot that is making great French food and the staff was super attentive and caring. Follow their recommendations because they won't lead you astray. My only note, maybe turn down the AC a bit, but that's a small note compared to the great experience we had. We'll definitely be back!

Lindsay K.

Yelp
We visited BeauSoleil last night to celebrate my husband's birthday, and the entire team made our evening so special! Our server, Donald, was wonderful, and the entire staff also ensured seamless service throughout the entire night. We started with sharing the escargot and the foie gras which were amazing. The escargot was such a classic French buttery delicious dish, and wow did they nail the foie gras with the melt in your mouth texture and perfect berry compote! We then had the Waygu ribeye and rack of lamb for dinner which were cooked and seasoned perfectly that we paired with an awesome St Emilion wine from their wine list. For dessert, we had the chocolate mousse and vanilla shaved cream. The mousse was great and the shaved ice was delicious and unlike anything we had ever tried before! Almost like tasting the most delicious creamy snow-like texture of a dessert, and we would definitely recommend ordering it because it is so hard to describe. Overall, we would highly recommend BeauSoleil and can't wait to return!
