"Red River music venue and bar Beerland is going to reopen under new ownership. The venue shuttered in late May when then-owner Richard Lynn announced Beerland’s sale just before the employees were going to go on strike because of unpaid salaries and bounced checks. That sale fell through. Beerland’s new owners includes Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater (aka Stubb’s concert venue portion just down the street) general manager Ryan Garrett. Garrett told Austin360 that the new Beerland will still include music and events. The aim is to open before Thanksgiving in November." - Nadia Chaudhury

"Red River music venue and bar Beerland Texas has been sold to a new owner, though that person/s or company hasn’t been revealed, according to Austin 360. The new owner doesn’t know what it will ultimately do with the space, but it will remain open in the meantime and host its scheduled shows. Previous owner Richard Lynn and his company Austin Jukebox Holdings bought Beerland from founders Randall and Sonya Stockton in 2018. It also turns out that Beerland staffers were planning on striking this week under Lynn because of unpaid salaries and bounced checks since South by Southwest in March. The strike is still happening despite the sale." - Nadia Chaudhury

If you are going to see a show and are ok with the "basement" vibe, BEERLAND kicks ass. Small, intimate venue. The bartender was working by herself and kicked ass. Restrooms were decent. Searing at the bar and at random scattered tables. In all great vibe and room for a punk show.

I think the only person who wasn't having a good time at the show was the bar tender. Poor lady, it was so loud I had to point at what beer I wanted. Imagine Large Marge the truck driver from Pee Wee's Big Adventure stuck in the opening blood rave scenes of Blade with Wesley Snipes. Also you're sweatin from too much MDMA. Rad venue. Half Dead.

Depending on the genres of rock you're into this may very well be your home away from home. But I'm not so much into goth glam and Industrial but that hasn't stopped me from having a badass time on multiple occasions. The bartender is nice the door people are nice and the venue is big with more than one level and and outdoor area to hang out and smoke.

I saw some great music here! Garage rock, post punk, and jamming country. The bar serves $3 beers, so it was great for my budget! Bar service is friendly also. Nice dive bar.

Beerland is a great venue for music and fun. Downtown on Red River, it's in the heart of the nightlife, and there is space out front to watch the people go by, but the great times are inside. It's small so a crowd builds quickly and you're never far from the bar or the stage. There is a pay surface parking lot nearby which is convenient, too.

A tiny dive bar with adequate character and formerly one of Austin's premier Metal venues, though lately that aspect has fallen off. It's not suitable for a show of any size, but local bands and touring upstarts put on some excellent, intimate performances.

I've always had a great time at this bar. It is small, but even if there's only a few people in the crowd, they still care about the sound and make sure the bands are happy.

Bro central might be Austin (nothing to do With this review)...sound guy ignored me until it was my time to perform. sexy bartender Chris was kind enough to let me know where the closest place to buy insense was, but after all the "bands" had played would not sell me a beer even after explaining before midnight what the liquor laws were like in TX...he also didn't want me to take photo booth photos after he had lit a cigarette in the bar because they "had to get out of here" at least we got paid well enough and everything started on time (9pm-ended before 12am)...
