The ATL Hit List: The Best New Restaurants In Atlanta - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Belen Bistro is a charming Argentinian restaurant in Decatur from the team behind Belén de la Cruz Empanadas & Pastries. And surprise, those empanadas should be on your plate. The appetizers come out in giant pairs with so much filling it starts erupting out of the flaky crust like molten lava when you take a bite. The ham and cheese is our favorite one. But the move here is to bring friends, a double date, or anyone who can help divide and conquer all six empanada flavors. After that, if there are still a few more pours in your bottle of Argentinian malbec, the perfectly seared 12-ounce of entraña or the spicy-ish chorizo link are decent orders." - nina reeder, juli horsford, jacinta howard, jacinta howard, jacinta howard, jacinta howard, jacinta howard, juli horsford, juli horsford, nina reeder, nina reeder, juli horsford, jacinta howard

The New Atlanta Restaurant Openings You Should Know About - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"The metro doesn't have many Argentinian restaurants, so we're excited that Belén's Bistro is repping the cuisine in Decatur with milanesa sandwiches, choripan, skirt steaks, and regional wines. The owner and chef gained notoriety for her empanadas, and they're (of course) on the small menu, too." - juli horsford, jacinta howard

Belén Bistro + Market Argentina - Review - Decatur - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Belen Bistro is a charming Argentinian restaurant in Decatur that makes a great location for a double date or a friend meet-up. But not just because of the spacious three-level dining room, it’s because you’ll want to have a few folks to help you divide and conquer all six empanada flavors. These appetizers come in giant pairs with so much filling it starts erupting out of the flaky crust like molten lava. If you have to pick one, the ham and cheese is our favorite. After that, if there are still a few more pours in your bottle of Argentinian malbec, the perfectly seared 12-ounce of entraña or the spicy-ish chorizo link are decent orders. But it’s unfortunate that the savory pastries set the bar so high because the entree menu feels boring in comparison. photo credit: Juli Horsford Food Rundown Empandas This flaky, meaty appetizer is the only non-negotiable on the menu. We don’t care if you get beef, ham and cheese, or mushroom, just make sure there are some on your table. PlayMute video credit: Juli Horsford Entraña It’s not steakhouse quality, but this 12-ounce skirt steak served with thick fries has a nice sear and lies in a pool of butter. It works. photo credit: Juli Horsford Chorizo Con Puré The spicy-ish chorizo link comes with a light char and a few sprinkles of parsley. Plus, pairing a bite of chorizo with the creamy mashed potatoes is simple but extremely comforting. photo credit: Juli Horsford Flan Flan haters should give this one a try. The consistency is more like a cheesecake. It’s creamy, sweet, and has a nice caramel glaze on top. photo credit: Juli Horsford" - Juli Horsford

It’s a cute little restaurant in the square. Despite its size, the seating wasn’t cramped, which for me is a gigantic plus, no elbow bumping, etc. The food was good - the vegetable dishes were the best. We had Milanesa, empanadas, ravioli, carrots, and cauliflower. All good; empanadas were a touch oily. The cauliflower was a standout: the portion size was nice, so it was good to share, or if you are eating light, it could be a small entree. Service was very friendly, if a touch slow. Friendly is a winner for me. Would recommend.

We had such a great dinner at Belen Bistro. Finally an authentic Argentine restaurant, made only better by the chic ambiance and perfect location. What a treat! The empanadas are perfectly fried and the dough is on point. The chorizo is genuine Argentine style (tip: eat it with the delicious, warm bread served at the table and the great chimichurri they serve). The entraña was so tender and perfectly salted. The milanesa napolitana was made with high quality, real tomatoes (no crappy commercial tomato sauce) and generous melted cheese, super tasty and flavorful. If you prefer thicker, crispy milanesa, though, either don't get it napolitana style or go for some other delicious main course, they all sounded amazing. The flan with dulce de leche was to die for. Probably one of the best I've had, definitely in the US, but possibly ever, including in Argentina. Perfect texture, so flavorful, and perfectly accompanied by that thick, decadent dulce de leche (which they also sell to go, grab a jar!!) Congrats to Belen and team for this gem of a place in Decatur and much needed addition to Atlanta. Will be back for more!

We were fortunate to give his new restaurant a try this evening! For our first visit, we were pleasantly surprised! We had high hopes for this restaurant when we first heard they had joined the Decatur square of restaurants! I am a big fan of Argentinian food and have had a hard time finding authentic Argentinian food for a long time. Tonight we tried the Corn Salad, Empanadas, and Choripan. For drinks we had the Pisco Sour, and I tried a Tannat red wine from Uruguay (Bodega Garzon), and a lovely Malbec (Altos Del Planta) as well. Both were delicious! I am a particular fan of the Tannat wine/grape and find it hard to find in the ATL scenes. I was very excited they had a good one on the list! All of the food was perfect. The salad was well seasoned and amazing. The Empanadas were also well seasoned and very juicy. The Choripan, though more of a lunch dish, was excellent! Choripan is something I have been craving for a long time. With most of these dishes, there was a side of Chimichurri. I am VERY picky with my chimichurri. Good Chimichurri can make or break a lot of dishes. I was very impressed with theirs! It was perfect. Everything from the atmosphere/ambience/music, to the service, and the food was wonderful. I can't wait to come back to explore more of the dinner menu! I feel like this might become one of my favorites in downtown Decatur! It is a cuisine of food I feel Atlanta in general is lacking and I am so excited they opened up in Decatur!

Food was amazing, the Entraña was cooked to perfection paired with the Malbec wine. Chefs kiss. And the ham and cheese empanadas were so good. The dulce de leche in their desserts is really really good. Please visit this place, the service was perfect and the prices are really good for the quality of the food. I’ll go back soon.

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Belén Bistro and WOW!!! what an incredible experience! I felt I was in the heart of Argentine at one of its top restaurants!! I tried the ravioli and they were out of this world, truly 5-star Michelin quality. Every bite was rich, comforting, and perfectly crafted. I also had the milanesa sandwich, which was flavorful, crispy, and so satisfying, and the panqueque de dulce de leche… just heavenly. Every dish was a sensory delight. The space itself is beautiful, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed, it strikes the perfect balance between cozy and elegant. The service was outstanding; you can tell every detail is handled with love, professionalism and great care. If you’re looking for a place that will delight your taste buds and feed your soul, Belén Bistro is it. I can’t wait to come back and try more. ¡Felicitaciones, Belén and all the team! 🇦🇷 GRACIAS por bringing a bit of our loved Argentina to our new chosen home ❤️

Yelp
This was my first time going to an Argentinian restaurant, and I will say it did not disappoint! When you walk in, you are immediately greeted with a very friendly staff and a great ambience for a date night, friend, dinner date, or just casual eating. The interior is decorated extremely well and there are three stories of seating. Now getting into the food, all three dishes that my friends and I ordered were truly delicious! We really loved the ravioli and empanadas. The food came out extremely quickly and you were also met with a free bread basket and parsley, butter. We got two of those because it was so good. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Decatur area or if you are craving some unique Argentinian food !

Yelp
A lovely surprise in Decatur Square! That's exactly what my late lunch at Belen Bistro & Market Argentina was today. The restaurant has only been open a few months, but seems to be making a name for itself. The space is lovely...multi-level, thoughtfully designed, with a classic yet relaxed vibe that feels just right for the neighborhood. I sat at the bar and had the nicest experience. There were a few other guests at the bar and a couple of tables filled, so it was relatively quiet and low-key, which was perfect for a chill midday break. I can imagine the space really coming alive with energy during dinner service. My bar neighbor mentioned he'd been several times and raved about the food. He wasn't wrong...it was wonderful. I started with a glass of Zuccardi Torrontés, on recommendation from the bar tender, Bomba. It was a light, floral Argentinian white wine that paired beautifully with my lunch: butternut squash ravioli in a cream reduction sauce with almonds. So creamy, perfectly balanced, and comforting without feeling too heavy. My plan was to try several dishes, but an afternoon meeting I had to get to pulled me back to reality LOL. No worries, I'll definitely be back for dinner and will sit outside if the weather is right...I'm already looking forward to it. Happy Eating!

Yelp
I had an amazing 1 PM lunch today Wednesday. I had empanadas, green salad, beef salad, and skirt steak. It was perfect. Pretty ambiance. So happy that we have Belen 11a-9p. Service

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went here on a date night. They seated us on the upper floor. There was lots of room for small tables. My girlfriend has a gluten allergy and the chef visited our table to walk us through the menu for options that would accommodate. The cocktails were delicious and all the food was on point. The service was attentive.

Yelp
Great new restaurant in downtown Decatur. Service was prompt, staff were friendly and food was delicious. Would definitely recommend! Came around 6 pm. They do not have a happy hour but mentioned one would be coming soon.

Yelp
This was a really nice dinner experience, and it was fun to try it with our friends who we had traveled to Argentina with in the past. There are three levels of this restaurant, and we were on the top floor. We loved the empanadas, and the butternut squash ravioli was very rich with a nice cream sauce. I loved that they served fresh bread before the meal. The atmosphere was nice, but the service was lacking. I hate when there are tiny water cups and the server doesn't refill them... I'd be fine with doing it myself if they'd leave me a pitcher! This is in the square, so typical difficulty parking in Decatur, but it's a nice spot for a tasty meal!

Yelp
Amazing, amazing, amazing. We were greeted by Fem upon arrival, who happened to be our favorite waiter at The Optimist in 2022 and still to this day, gave the best service we've ever had in Atlanta. Seeing Fem here gave us the reassurance we would have an outstanding meal with top notch service. Surprise, we did!! Bread service with their herb butter was incredible, don't get too full too quickly though like me! We started our meal with the empanadas, the beef and the mushroom were divine. I would return just for them but was pleasantly surprised it only got better from there! I got the squash ravioli with white sauce. It was a big portion and I had enough to take home thank goodness because I want to relive that flavor over and over again. Absolutely amazing and perfectly cooked. My boyfriend got the Entraña and said it was the best steak he's had in Atlanta. So flavorful. We frequent steakhouses often so this compliment was shocking!! We got the pisco sours, not pictured and they were so refreshing. Very floral and perfectly sweet. I love them more than my favorite Peruvian restaurants but don't tell them. We loved how cozy the ambiance is and was shocked to see it's three stories, perfect amount of space for a private party. We will definitely be returning back, maybe for an engagement party. :) Thank you, Belén Bistro! Be back soon!

Yelp
We decided to try the new restaurant in Decatur square and had a wonderful experience. Decor is tasteful and unique throughout three levels. Our server was attentive and friendly but the highlight was the food. We started with beef carpaccio and empanadas, both delicious. I ordered the ribeye steak "Ojo de Bife", my wife ordered the squash ravioli and we shared both. Excellent beef as you might expect with Argentine cuisine. The pisco sour cocktails were also on point. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great place for a date night. Not too loud. Amazing food, and wine. Our service was quick.
