After dropping off my car carrier to my old pal Oscar Mendoza, so he can get his cars down to the Riverside Concours d'elegance next weekend, we headed straight to the Bella Italia Restaurant. Being in Modesto with a tried and true Mexican...I expected tacos! But...Man-O-Man was I pleasantly surprised, the food was amazing! Well worth the trip. 5 ☆☆☆☆☆

Bella Italia is very nice place for dinner while in town. It is not the best ever, but we were quite happy with almost everything we ordered. The place is really pretty and the prices are fair. We just loved the service. We were seated straight away. They have a nice wine list. Our server knew the menu well and was fast but we never felt rushed. I would make a reservation. We were there on a weekday and ate early so we were in great shape. Most of the food we had was great. The minestrone soup was just perfect. We also loved our salads. I had the chicken marsala and it was just so melt in your mouth wonderful and packed with yummy mushrooms. We also had the ravioli in a white sauce that was so good. I would get that again. Finally, we had fried ravioli and it was good, not great. That I will not try again. There is just too much thick crust for me, but you might love it. The ravioli within the crust was very good. All in all we would come back. We just loved the service, the calm atmosphere and the vast majority of the food. Give them a try.

Good environment and atmosphere!!! Awesome service!!! Our server is amazing!!! Delicious food, which is served relatively fast!!! Love their cioppino and pasta!!! Highly recommend them! And you wouldn’t want to miss their desserts! Would recommend trying their “bombs”! We dined as a family of five! It is about $20 - $30 per person!

I'm so glad my husband and I decided to go inside this cute family own Italian restaurant. Don't let the outside fool you, inside is really cute and well decorated with Tuscany look The food is so good, my husband had the cioppino, we were quite surprised how big the bowl was and let me tell you, my husband is a big cioppino eater, this has to be by far the best cioppino he had ever had since we moved out here in the valley from the bay area, it's probably better then any bay area Italian restaurant, even I wish I had gotten it, I got the baked rigatoni and I really loved it, portions are huge , we both had to take ours home. We recommend the homemade tiramsu , this has to be the best tiramsu we had ever had, I almost don't want to write this review because I don't want too many people knowing about this secret gem, also because we didn't need any reservations. Service was excellent, very friendly family. Definitely we be coming back

Decided to try out a different type of Italian restaurant and came here.. My appetizer was actually the best (Portobello Mushroom with the Pesto sauce) The bread comes with this spicy type of butter that I've never had and was really good. Overall the food was good but not amazing. In regards to the time, it was actually slow (only 2 parties already served at the time) and the food still took about 25 minutes to come out; not necessarily a negative but just wanted to note that. Service was good and friendly. It's a nice little spot if you want to try a different Italian place.

Great food. Friendly staff. Not as pricey as I thought it would be. Didn't get 5 stars cuz it took a while between apps and entrees and my 7 year old should've gotten her food first. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. 2 glasses of wine, 2 sodas, a small margherita pizza, child size pepperoni pizza, 1 cup of excellent clam chowder, and 2 seafood entrees, plus delicious table bread and a beautiful dessert for exactly $100 tip included.

Amazing restaurant with plenty of good food. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff is amazing. They have plenty of different pizzas as well as a special “bag lunch” that I love to order for takeout. I love the bread with a special cheese they serve when you order their food!

Dinner tonight was fabulous. I had the chicken Marsala and it was really good. Had creme brulee for dessert - yum. Also tried my friends tiramisu - yum. Service was amazing ....will go back for sure

Bella Italia has been our go to place for Italian food for years in Western Plaza. Seating arrangement is cozy and probably can seat 60 people. We ate on a Saturday afternoon and there were a few tables occupied. Staff has always been cordial and friendly and comes plenty of time to check if we needed more bread, water or a refill on sodas. My favorite dish to get is the chicken marsala and it's always been flavorful and a balance with its fresh vegetables. Highly recommended. 5 stars This time we decided to get a 10 inch small pizza and chose the all meat one with pepperoni, salami and sausage. Pizza was loaded with toppings and since the pizza is thin in the center, it tends not limp when getting a slice. 4 stars My wife got the lasagna and she ate maybe 1/4 of it. I think she got full with the complimentary bread which was delish with their butter spread they give. Bread and butter - 5 stars Lasagna- grade not applicable since I didn't try it Overall, good, cozy place for Italian food in Modesto

Great food. Excellent service. Friendly atmosphere. Finally found a place that me and my family really enjoyed a small tase of Italy. Definitely will be coming back over and over to try the dishes and the pizza. My kids are so happy and satisfied with the flavors they have enjoyed. Big kudos to the owner and family and their team. Happy to be served by you. Salute !!!

I've been bringing my Momma here, when Im in town, for years. The food is delicious, it smells amazing the moment you walk in the door. I like that its in a slower part of town, less chaos, great options on the menu and they always accommodate my no dairy allergy. It's my go- to spot for steamed clams. The sauce is soooo good, I take it home every time & cook with it the next day. Today we tried new dishes: Momma had the Chicken cannelloni & I had the Calamari steak. We both went home very happy!!! Try it... you'll like it!!

Fabulous sauces great salads, they do veal really well!! .... love their rolls, good wine selection and happy friendly servers.

Pasta, pizza and wine! Can anything be more divine? Lovely atmosphere and lots of seating in a shared small business mall off of Coffee and Floyd. Friendly and attentive staff made sure our meal was lovely. House made focaccia bread comes with a spicy cheese spread for appetizer. We go the bruschetta, the flavors were fresh and delightful, was just missing balsamic drizzle. I got the lobster ravioli, and it was so good, I used the focaccia to sop up all the sauce!! We ordered some wine, and received a very ample pour to enjoy. Finished with house tiramisu, that was very good, but I was also very full at this point. With a huge menu, lots of options and great service, we will be back.

First time coming here and I really enjoyed our dinner! The bread and butter that was served as we sat on our table was amazing! Both pastas that we ordered were delicious and the service was amazing

Bread sticks are the best. Ravioli Pasta is delicious, the service is kind. It is dim almost like a candle lit restaurant in there. Can't wait to give this another try. I will be honest I didn't care for the lasagna.

First time here. So happy that the minestrone was garbanzo bean free! The soup was yummy. I had chicken fettuccine and it didn't disappoint either. I ordered to go, next time maybe I'll dine in for the full effect.

Always very tasteful, Prawns Sorrento is my favorite appetizer followed by a cup of clam chowder. The Chicken Scaloppini is marvelous... Small quaint restaurant with a great menu. The waiters are very friendly and the service is great

Last Sunday we dined here for lunch. Good Italian spot in the area. Food here was delicious and filling. Just with the complimentary bread and butter got us full. There were a lot of good foods listed on their menu and I had a hard time deciding what I wanted at first. I ended up going for the shrimp scampi. My boyfriend got the chicken saltimbocca. Food was really good and we ended up eating it all. We almost opted for dessert but passed. Next time we will give it a try. Overall, delicious food. Service here was friendly, quick and attentive. Will have to come back here again.

Hair baked in the pizza 8/21/24 Called to request a refund just for the large Hawaiian pizza. We order a big order from our Rep. The first person we spoke to stated no worries we will get that back on the card. Within 2 min I received a called from the owner stating I needed to bring the pizza back to get refunded. I explained to the owner I was at work at couldn't take it back at this moment she stated well then sorry no refund. We order once a month and order over $300 every time. It's sad to say we will no longer be giving them our business. Very careless! Circled the hair so you can see how it's baked in.

Food was good, service quick. We will go back. I recommend the chicken piccata. FYI, you can bring in your own wine with a small corking fee.

I would give six stars if I could. This place is always delicious. Amazing service extremely clean top-tier dining experience. I am never disappointed. The tea is delicious. Highly recommend the pumpkin ravioli. Bread is out of this world. I cannot tell you how much I recommend this restaurant. And yes im serious. My mom and I always split the pumpkin ravioli and it's absolutely amazing.

At first glance you wouldn't think this place was much BUT this restaurant is serving up some delicious Italian food. The bread and cheese spread is delicious. I'm not sure if the restaurant makes their own bread but it was amazing especially with the cheese sauce. I ordered the caesar salad, which was very tasty but a little salty in my opinion. My dad ordered the house salad with blue cheese dressing and my mom ordered the clam chowder. My mom raved about the chowder. We ordered the lobster ravioli, artichoke ravioli, and the lasagna. Both raviolis were super delicious! The sauces were very creamy and flavorful. The artichoke hearts and mushrooms in the cream sauce were very tender. The lasagna had wonderful flavor, from the sauce to the meat. The meat was perfectly moist and tasty. My dad said it was some of the best lasagna he had ever had.

We love this place -- the food is consistently good and the service is attentive but not overbearing. The prices are very reasonable as well.

Came in for Mother's Day. I live out of the area, so this restaurant was recommended by someone. The food came out at a good pace and the waiter was pleasant. The food was delicious and I'll be back for sure.

So I was given a gift card from my bestie to try this place. I was excited to try Bella Italia based on reviews. It's been on my radar for a minute now. So I saw another review stating the hours were wrong and they closed early. So I called to confirm. Thank goodness I did!! Because they said that they stop serving at 7:30pm. That we would have to be there before to dine in. Then I called again and said my navigation said I'll be there at 7:19pm. They said I had to be there by 7:15 or I could not dine in that they may close even earlier because of the weather. So I was stressing out wondering if we were going to even be able to make it. So I called again and told them my order and explained I wanted to dine in . They were happy to oblige. I ordered 2 Chicken Marsala with mashed potatoes. I also ordered 1 cioppino , 1 margherita pizza for my oldest. And a grilled chicken fettuccine Alfredo for my youngest.I also ordered a bowl of minestrone soup. While we waited for our food they brought bread with some kind of cheese butter. I asked for fresh garlic for the bread, in the Bay Area it's complementary at all the restaurants I've been to. But my man said he saw the waitress putting on our bill so asked if there was a charge. She said there was. So we chose to go without. We didn't have to wait long for our food. 1st came the minestrone soup. I shared with my family and everyone enjoyed it!! My man gave the cioppino a solid 8. He is a snob when it comes to seafood and travels a lot to try different places. So he's had cioppino from SF to Monterey etc. !! He did say the cioppino was fresh and delicious . My Chicken Marsala was wonderful!! Chicken was moist, tender, & so flavorful!! Came with mashed potatoes and they were perfect and creamy!! Also had a side of vegetables. Vegetables were hard and undercooked. Should have been cooked more they were not cooked enough !! My youngest had chicken fettuccine Alfredo. She said it was delicious!! She gave it a 8. My oldest had a margherita pizza and she loved it!!

I absolutely love this place, it is my favorite restaurant in Modesto. The ambiance is perfect for a nice romantic dinner. My favorite dish is the stuffed shrimp linguine!!!! It is sooooooo freaking good!

We were greeted by The owner when we walked in. We were quickly seated to start our night and folks, what a nice way it was. Furthermore, we ordered several items and the food was outstanding, it all started with a nice wine selection and Bella Italia was our 1st meeting with each other so many years ago. Very nice ambiance, plenty of food and excellent choices to even the desert. Please keep up the good work.

So disappointed. We arrived at this resturant at 7:15 p.m on a FRIDAY NIGHT!!! We were told they were only accepting to go orders.

It's been a while sense I've been to BI and have to say at these prices service & food quality has to always be at peak! The bread could be 100% better as it was a bit under baked.. the butter and the salad we shouldn't have to use a knife.. 1/4 tomato not bueno... small teaks takes it to next level

This place gets 5 stars all around from us! It's small, which we love. Service was outstanding; attentive, offered suggestions, and checked back frequently. Food was delicious. As you can see, the portions are very generous and we had plenty to take home for later! The way they cooked the chicken was perfection for this dish, I can't wait to try the piccata next. My husband is very particular about his baked rigatoni and they nailed it! We've lived in Modesto for 6 years now and this was definitely a hidden gem. Their pasta is FIRE and fresh. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed! Very friendly staff as well.

This was a new choice for us tonight. My co worker and I came here tonight and what a surprise to find this place and so close to our homes and where we used to work. The service and food was impeccable. Loved the great Italian singers and ambiance in the place! We shared a borwl of clam chowder and steamed clams with homemade bread which is delightful with a sun dried tomato butter and the broth from the clams was delicious dipping the bread in or putting spoonful on top of the fresh bread! Our waiter John went over and above with friendliness and helpfulness.

AMAZING FOOD, very authentic Italian. Delicious chicken in wine sauce. My husband had calamari and he loved his too. Prices were good, meal superb, wine was wonderful. Definitely will be back. Oh....AND THE BREAD..OFF THE HOOK!

This restaurant is so authentic. The food is fantastic and the servers and very attentive. My favorite dish is the veal parmigiana The decor is so cute the music makes me feel like I am in Italy.

Very disgusted by the way my family and I were treated yesterday we had came into the restaurant to come and eat. we had gotten a table and had sat down and the co owner lady got us our drinks and we we're having a conversation about the restaurant industry and she had thought we were talking about her and she got upset and told to leave after we had tried to talk to her and clear everything up, but she told us to leave so we did but it was really hard because I had my elderly parents and disabled brother with me overall I negative experience and would not recommend such an awful place

I ordered a family meal for a friend and their family that was ill. I ordered spaghetti family meal a chicken parmigiana family meal.... I did not expect a feast!!!!!!! The entree, salad, bread, pizza and a type of spread I believe was a butter type for the bread. I ordered two family meals so all this stuff was x2. Let me tell you- it was shear torture to drive this food to its destination!!!! I felt like Chloe from life of pets- stopping the car and sniffing the closed boxes..... will they notice if one meal has a bite? Oh no I can't do that- that's wrong....... Again, mmmm this pizza smells divine- so many pizzas- surely they won't realize one is missing.... Stop that Evangelina!!!! After a painful 7 minute drive the food got placed on my friends porch and they retrieved it. They could not believe how much food!!!! They called me as they were gobbling it up. They wanted to know where the food was from. I told them that my fellow yelpers recommended it! I felt so warm and fuZZY for doing this deed. I do regret one thing- I should have taken a slice of Pizza... lol!

It was our first time there, service was excellent, food was outstanding, I had the Penne de Filet Migon, that was the best pasta I've had in a long time, and and wife had Veggie Primavera w/pesto sauce, veggies cooked perfectly and sauce was on point. Will definitely be going back.

Bella Italia is a family owned & operated business that serves great Italian Food. The menu is huge offering many choices - the service is excellent & the prices are good! My family & I have enjoyed eating there for over 15 years . Try it yourself your taste buds will thank you

They have a wide variety but the flavors are basics. The brunch menu is vast but we have gotten upset stomach's afterwards & thought it might have gotten us sick. The air conditioner didn't work they had a fan blasting behind us for the whole restaurant but that also made our food cold with in minutes.

This place is great the customer service is amazing! Love the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, the Chicken Marsala and Santa Margarita Prawns!

I came for the tiramisu and ended up also getting a Spumoni. Definitely the best tiramisu in the 209. They actually use lady fingers. Most places in Modesto sell you Opera Cake and call it Tiramisu. Legit Italian restaurant. 10/10

Things sure changed. The restaurant was empty, the service was slow. The woman who helped us wasn't very attentive and didn't bring the lemon for our water then said we didn't ask. That wasn't quite the case. No biggie. I asked for more butter or at least what I thought was butter and the waitress rudely told me it was cheese and then waited for me to ask again for it before she brought another one. The pizza was pretty good. It was the 1st time I've had it. I have always enjoyed their pastas. We were rudely told he had to move to make room for another party. I would definitely say the food was good but the service lacked kindness and warmth. If service isn't a biggie then definitely try the food.

I love it here. The food is always amazing and the staff are super nice. There's a little bit of a wait on food, but it's definitely worth it. I always get the chicken fettuccine and my husband always gets pizza. It gives off a strong home like setting where you feel like your own family is in the kitchen. Pros: delicious food, nice staff, super attentive, small home like feel Cons: the bread (a bit flavorless and I LOVE bread)

Bella is the perfect combination of charming and delicious. Everyone who works there is delightful and the food is consistent and spot on every time. Their mahi mahi and seafood pastas are a must try!
