The Best Restaurant Desserts, Pastries, Ice Creams in San Francisco | Eater SF

"Dessert isn’t just on the menu, it’s the entire menu at Bellaria. This pop-up went permanent in the Tenderloin in summer 2023 and serves a unique five-course dessert-tasting menu for $75. Pastry chef Luis Villavelazquez has baked for two decades across San Francisco, originally rising at Citizen Cake, and more recently at China Live and Ozumo. A recent menu included a few savory bites, mandarin sorbet, strawberry-sakura pavlova, soufflé bread pudding, and chocolate cake. To snag a reservation for an upcoming tasting, keep an eye on the website. Or the cafe is open for a la carte on Sundays, to slide in for a slice of cake." - Paolo Bicchieri

Downtown San Francisco’s New Ikea Store, Market Street Mall, and Food Hall Is Delayed Again - Eater SF

"Those with a sweet tooth will be thrilled to hear that pop-up Bellaria Dessert Studio is opening a cafe featuring a five-course dessert tasting menu as well as a la carte confections, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Pastry chef and owner Luis Villavelazquez runs the show and told the paper he wants to create “a new, dynamic and evolving dessert culture in San Francisco.” The new shop at 442 Hyde Street opens in the second week of June." - Dianne de Guzman

We did a five-course, intimate, dessert tasting at Bellaria. Every item was hand-crafted, thoughtful, innovative, and delicious. It started off with savory bites before moving into the main attractions. Our party absolutely loved the Mandarin and White Tea dish with seabuckthorn and tonka. The Pear Tatin Roulade and Souffle Bread Pudding were expertly crafted and technically impressive. The Chocolate dish at the end was the perfect bite to end the meal. And everything (besides the caviar) was vegan! I can't wait to see what else comes out of this innovative dessert studio. The space is small so you'll have to sign up in advance for the tasting, but it makes it intimate and homey. It makes a great date night!

Trust and believe, these desserts are majorly good. I am borderline obsessed with their Midnight Citizen chocolate cake. The folks who work there are also super sweet (no pun intended) and were very accommodating when I accidentally came to get my order at the wrong time. Thank you Bellaria!
