The Best Boozy Slushies In Seattle

"You might not be surprised that a bar decorated like a clubby pirate ship has boozy slushies. But you may be surprised that they’re pretty good. The potent POG margarita has a nice pucker, but we gravitate toward the smooth Washington Apple that blends whiskey with sour apple liqueur and cranberry juice. We love that they all come in metal mugs to make the chill last longer—and you can request them as a float on top of a vodka and soda." - gabe guarente, aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley

The Best Mac & Cheese In Seattle

"Ma’ono (now located inside Admiral Benbow Room) serves some terrific kimchi mac and cheese. It has a great tanginess from just the right amount of kimchi, the sauce is always really silky and smooth, and the cold slivers of scallions on top add some great onion-y brightness. Grab a side with one of their spicy chicken sandwiches or strips." - aimee rizzo

The Admiral Benbow Room - Review - West Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"The Admiral Benbow Room is the closest thing you'll get to drinking rum on a pirate ship. With a dark space covered in barrels, projectors playing murky underwater b-roll, and a giant skeleton sculpture, it's a whole mood that will probably make you want to watch the 2003 live-action Peter Pan the second you get home. As for the rum, find it in great cocktails like a slushy coco locos or frozen strawberry daiquiris, or in mixed drinks featuring other ingredients like honey, orange bitters, passionfruit, and pineapple. Things are relatively relaxed earlier in the night (or, rather, as relaxed as a pirate ship-themed bar can possibly be), but as it gets later, this place turns into a total party, complete with loud music and a spinning disco ball." - Aimee Rizzo

I don’t know why it took me so long to check this place out. It doesn’t look like as much from the outside, but they’ve done so much with this space since it was Vidiot. The food is so good and they have well maintained pinball machines. The bartender with long red hair has excellent taste in music. This was a perfect relaxing Sunday stop.

Google
Had fun visiting Benbow Room. Had seen the neon sign driving by several times and it peaked my interest. Had no idea what to expect except that Ma'ono chicken is now in this spot. Love the side alley entrance door. Once inside its like a pirate bar. Pretty cool. Big wide open space with a bar and game room in the back. we got a couple beers, one shot, chicken sandwiches, cucumbers and fries. we stopped in here before going to a movie around the corner. Fun times and cool place!

Google
We saw that Ma’ono is doing a pop up on Monday’s and Tuesday’s so we went to check it out. Loved the big bright neon sign. You enter off the alley. We loved the decor, vibe and mini arcade. The slushie drinks and beers were refreshing. The chicken sandwiches were so delicious - just like it was. You get your drinks at the bar. There’s a kiosk pass the mini arcade to order food. Very efficient. Staff was super cool, helpful and nice. Thank you for continuing to create these amazing spots in West Seattle! Looking forward to coming back!

Google
Popped in for a pint and it was perfect. Any pirate would be happy to drink here.

Google
Overall the best hangout spot. Friendly customer service, great food, and hospitality. The bartender Shane is one of the best. We will definitely be returning!

Google
Solid chicken and very strong drinks. Good vibes. Their website is kinda trash tho

Google
Bouncer was a total booze-hound and made my whole group uncomfortable. Never coming back to this bar again… he was too drunk to check ID’s and wasn’t at the door when we walked in, and then kicked our whole group out after 5 minutes, with FULL drinks on our table. DO NOT COME HERE!

Joshua Pirolo

Google
One pool table, classic arcade games. Super cool pirate theme with big booths for larger parties. They connect with a restaurant next door which has an incredible chicken sandwich. Don’t get the extra hot unless you are truly brave.

Yelp
The bar is cute and cozy with great cocktails! You can order Moana fried chicken from next door and they will bring it to your table! Great date night spot Bartender was great with attentive service!

Yelp
Good spot, never too busy. Big buck hunter and other games in back room. I've always had good service.

Yelp
First of all, let me tell you how happy I am that the Benbow is up and running again. I've been a loyal customer for years, even through the Cheeseburger Shot period (love me some Rosemary)! It's still ok, just is prettier and has bigger wide open spaces with nice decor minus the Kois that I used to love to feed in the river that ran through the establishment. I love the whole maritime vibe, the pirates, the skulls (someone tried to buy these one of the times I was here lol). It's great they have the slurry drinks. They are long, strong, and down to get the friction on (bartenders Kat and Heather will suggest creative mixes to make your drink experiences even more delicious!) I love this space so much...it goes from casual bar to nightclub when it's really popping off! I suggest you come to the most popular bar/club in West Seattle. 21 and up only with proper ID. ENJOY!!!

Yelp
This place could be so cool but the staff is unnecessarily rude and mean. They used to have a DJ which was so fun but they got rid of him and started playing house music only. My friend went up to one of the bar tenders to ask to make a music request and the bartender said "no beat it!" That was so uncalled for and mean for no reason whatsoever. When are they going to find some staff that understands that going to a bar is supposed to be fun?

Yelp
The perfect spot in Alki, friendly service, great company, good food, perfect ambiance, family vibes.

Yelp
Used to have fun coming here.... WARNING IF YOU HAVE A VERTICAL ID!!!!! Tried to come here for a friends 21st birthday and apparently because "GETTING A REAL FUCKING ID" wasn't "THE FIRST FUCKING THING YOU DO" we were not allowed to be in the establishment as staff told us word for word. I understand it is a 21+ establishment and that no vertical ID's is managements policy, that's all fine. However NOT being asked POLITELY to leave ruined the night. Friend with vertical ID went up to order drink, was told they wouldn't accept it. He came over to tell us and then was immediately approached by other staff and told "YOUVE GOT TO GET THE FUCK OUT". Word for word. No problem with the policy, just the attitude.

Yelp
horrible experience here, Danielle is the persons named or at least that's what she said it was. she was really tall, manly and was bombarding us in the bathroom for our IDS while we were using the bathroom. Usually there is a door person who is really cool and knows us personally by name so we assumed he was on break and we'd get carded at the bar. We showed ID and we got approved to be there so Danielle left and we were conversation about how it was a weird experience to get IDs in the bathroom and so aggressively, so she must of been standing at the door listening because she barged in and kicked us out for "locking the door" which we did not do. horrible experience by far. i attached a picture of her for anyone wondering. also the other review mentioning her name also i've seen a few other people complaining about her so clearly she is a real big issue for benbow at the moment.

Parsa M.

Yelp
In Seattle for a day with friends and unfortunately came across this bar. Service, drinks, and ambiance were terrible. 2nd yelp review I've ever left but feel strongly about saving anyone from having the same experience I've had here. Especially considering the other options from the neighborhood. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of here, staff was on clearly on uppers. Which is seems to common in the service industry but this place to took it another level. Agro bartenders and owners, do yourself a favor and keep walking past this shit hole

Yelp
I'm not sure why the low rating... people must be too picky and uptight. My partner and I dropped in on Valentine's Day before our dinner reservations. It was a surprise for me because she knows how much I adore anything and everything pirate related. Benbow delivered. The bartender working that night was super friendly and efficient. Catered to the small number of patrons perfectly. I'm not going to lie- the cocktails we got weren't amazing. While decently strong, they tasted artificial and pre-mixed. Next time we go back, we'll probably stick to their beers which are so affordable. The decor was amaaaazing. It made me so happy. They also had an arcade in the back that I'd love to check out next time. 5 stars mainly because of the theme and the service. I plan to come back pretty regularly!

Yelp
Fun place for a stiff drink, hot dog, dancing and some pinball. The m doing a slushy daiquiri that's pretty stiff. Fun place!
google avatar

Afton L.

Yelp
Hands down the best slushy drinks I've had since living in Brooklyn. And they're better than what we had there...or in Austin, LA or New Orleans. Truly well crafted drinks with just the right amount of edge. Atmosphere manages to land it by being so deeply West Seattle but with just the right note of grown up. The combination is undeniably hip. Thanks to the incoming bar manager for making this spot a destination. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I've been to benbow room a few times now and have usually had a great time. Tonight though, I had a horrific experience. I recently turned 21 and went out again with a friend that tuned 21 today. We sat inside and when my friend went to order a drink he was declined due to having a vertical ID. He then came back over to our table to tell us that they won't accept vertical ID's, and as he was telling us the bartender that declined him proceeded to come to our table and scream "you guys need to get the f--- out of here. It's not me, it's management, we cannot accept vertical IDs." I understand that she didn't want to get in trouble by serving us and that totally makes sense, but the immediate rudeness and the disrespect we were met with started to make me shake. We had no clue this was a rule, especially since I had been there a month before. I had just ordered food and was hoping to wait for it but she would not let us wait for our food. As I started to pack up with my friends she screamed from the bar "they aren't f-----g" leaving!!!" It was very unsettling because it seemed like the bartender herself was drunk. Not only did this happen, but I went to the bathroom right after this encounter (before I exited the establishment) to calm my nerves and go to the bathroom. The bartender also happened to be in one of the bathroom stalls when I went in and once she left the stall she was in she proceeded to NOT wash her hands and leave. It was disgusting, and provided yet another reason to make me NEVER want to visit this establishment again. I would not trust this bartender with my drinks. If this woman had approached us calmly or politely I would've had no problem at all, but she approached us by swearing and being verbally agressive to the extreme. I have never written a yelp review but after this encounter, I could not hold back. Please do not visit this establishment, you will be met with incredibly unkind staff who don't wash their hands after they go to the bathroom.

Yelp
Cool vibe like imagine being in a disco club / bar in a pirate ship! They even have a 10 foot huge pirate statue inside haha. Admiral Benbow offers draft and bottled/can beers as well as Jell-O shots! You can also get Maono fried chicken at this establishment! It's a fun place to hang out with friends. They also have pull tabs, arcade games and plenty of fun seating either booths, diner or high tops with a barrel tabletop. Super cool concept! Be sure to check it out. Parking is plentiful either at the alley or at Metropolitan Market the next block over. The entrance is off the alley.

Yelp
Wow, they've done a great job with renovations, this is a must checkout bar in the Admiral district of West Seattle. We made this our first stop on a Thursday night and tried the banana daiquiris. They tasted good, served in a very frosty metal cup and were very effective in getting our fun night started. The bar is just getting opened, but our server Jose did a great job of getting us our drinks and giving us the down low on the new bar. It's a very open space, with a number of different areas to sit, from the tables "inside the ship" to the couple 2-tops on barrels and of course the belly up to the bar. There are at least three giant clear screens projecting sea video of pirate ships and exotic Caribbean locations to support the theme of the bar. And, a carved/chainsawed pirate for good measure. There are some basic snack options, but it sounds like there will be more coming in the future, likely from the Ma'Ono menu. We look forward to coming back and supporting this local bar. What a great opportunity to get your pirate talk on Aye Matey! And with International Talk Like A Pirate (Monday September 19th 2022) day quickly approaching, there's very little time perfect your form.

Yelp
Cool space! I didn't follow the rule of waiting for 6-8 weeks before going to a new place, because the guy who owns it has other great casual restaurants in West Seattle that I love. Can't wait to return in a couple of months to hopefully see things running smoothly.

Sara F.

Yelp
This place was awesome. The decor was so fun. Made me think I was in a pirate ship in the future. The staff was super friendly, but not annoying. The drinks were fantastic! Definitely want to go back

Yelp
Love the this, service is great, drinks are good and you have a choice hot dogs or Hawaiian fried chicken. What could be bad about that. Only missing one more star because I wish it had more people.

Yelp
Good place to watch a game. Have a drink . Big with a fun atmosphere. Wine on tap, daiquiri, and beer.

Yelp
Pre made drinks are a no no . Gut buster First of all and they need happy hour specials . 8.50 for a tiny vodka soda I love how the workers were drinking grey goose, however. Hmmmm

Yelp
Renovations were awesome. We sat at a table and there were no waitresses. So my husband went and sat at the bar to order our drinks. After 10 minutes, I went to the bar and sat next to my hubby and the female bartender acknowledge me right away. I found that difficult to understand, when my husband has been sitting at the bar way before me. Drinks were ok but pricey. We order an old fashion and a Moscow mule, $22+ dollars. Really!! Need to work on customer service. Should greet and acknowledge your customers.

Yelp
Stellar setting , ambiance makes it like it's day or night and bar staff awesome . Location is also great. Drinks a little pricey but They are strong !!!

Yelp
It was my boyfriends birthday, the lady bartender did not even recognize it was his birthday. We ordered 2 shots, and the bartender put the cup to her nose. Very disgusting that there was a dog in there. Not a fun place, very dark, and sketchy.
google avatar

Yelp
Their slushies didn't really taste like they had been mixed at all and their food was pretty bad...their chili cheese nachos were canned chili + velveta cheese and store bought tortilla chips for $7.50. Their hot dogs used canned onions and japalenos + the hot dog itself looked like a meat stick from the gas station. I legitimately don't understand what happened here. They blew their entire budget on the remodel, I can't understand it any other way.

Yelp
I've lived in West Seattle for 20+ years. Was excited for the "new" Benbow. And they did a great job on the build out, no question. Sat down at the end of the bar. Not packed, not crazy busy. Two different bartenders asked what I wanted within 30 seconds. I politely said I was checking out the drinks menu. Cool, we'll be right back. Many minutes later, bartender finally comes back over with two drinks. "Those aren't ours, we haven't ordered. But can we order?" She walks away, trying to figure out who's drinks they are, muttering about two other guys in the corner and how it's not her job to bring them to them. Wait another 10 minutes. We wave, make eye contact, nothing. They're taking pictures at the bar, talking to each other. Everything but actually serving folks sitting at the bar. Four bartenders. Honestly, it was just plain weird. I don't get it. Neither will West Seattle.

Yelp
This review is in regard to their online ordering system. I was really disappointed by the whole experience, I placed my order online at 5pm and it said the order would be ready for pickup by 5:20pm. I arrived at 5:15pm through their main entrance, there's a sign out front that says to enter through the alley. I see some shelves with paper bag orders so I go there to look for mine. I didn't see it which was fine since I was early. 5:35pm rolls around and I ask the guy in the back if he can check on the status of my order, he told me that mine is coming up next. Great! But how did he know it's my order? He didn't ask for my name nor did he give me time to respond with my name before he disappeared into the back. It's now 5:50pm (30 minutes after the order was supposed to be ready) and I ask the guy again and he brings me an order that isn't mine. I told him my name and he brought my bag from a completely different shelf located at another entrance. Why is this pickup system so confusing? This could've easily been resolved if there was some kind of signage that said to check the other shelves. But now I've wasted 30 minutes of my time, my food is cold, and I'm annoyed by the whole experience.

Carmon W.

Yelp
SO wanted to love this place again! We've been WS folks for 27 years. Between the dog menu and dogs being allowed inside, it's just nasty. No thanks, Mark. Shoulda resurrected that Spring Hill burger, Bro.

Amanda O.

Yelp
Service is dirt if they don't know/ like you. As someone who works in the industry, do better. Maybe they don't have to because of the capacity. If they don't care about that then totally ignore this but I'm definitely over spending my money there. I'm sorry this is a review I felt needing to happen.
