"Benny Siddu’s straight to the point steak haven located right off the Magnificent Mile. A far cry from the clubby, masculine steakhouses of yesteryear and just a stone's throw from the Magnificent Mile, this expansive but welcoming space goes for understated glamour." - The MICHELIN Guide

"Management behind essential Chicago steakhouse Benny’s Chop House has announced its impending closure at the end of the month in River North after a decade of serving martinis and steaks. Its final day of service is Leap Day, Saturday, February 29. Benny’s opened in 2010 at 444 N. Wabash Avenue. In a city packed with steakhouses, independently-owned Benny’s set itself apart with live jazz music and a sleek, dark-hued interior. In 2013, Chicago named it one of the best steakhouses in the city, and noted special appreciation for its attentive and “refreshingly honest” servers. The restaurant featured cuts including Japanese A5 Tajima and Miyazaki beef, available at only a few restaurants in the U.S." - Naomi Waxman

"This modern-day steakhouse offers a standout version of one of the best dishes built for sharing: the ubiquitous shellfish tower for two. The seafood-focused centerpiece is as substantial as it is striking, thanks to an array of poached Cape Breton lobster, gulf jumbo prawns, and Alaskan red king crab." - Nicole Schnitzler

Everything was delicious! But, my goodness the attention the staff paid was just the best. We had a reservation and ended up having to wait 15-20 minutes for our table, and they comped us a round of drinks for the inconvenience. Thank you for taking care of us! And, the live jazz on Saturday night was amazing!

Wonderful place. Definitely lives up the the stellar reputation. The maple bacon is fantastic, pork bellies finished in house, about half an inch thick. The seafood tower was amazing, and the calamari with hot peppers was perfect. My steak was phenomenal and truly among the best to be found. They have regular steaks, dry aged steaks, and Japanese offerings. The sides were wonderful, the mushrooms and creamed spinach were superb. Definitely pay a visit.

Really wish you could provide half stars here. We came to Benny's Chop House after hearing the rave reviews surrounding Chicago's famed steakhouses. Visiting from out of town, we knew we needed to stop by and pay a visit. Unfortunately, our experience did not start well. We were immediately seated following a reservation, having taken an Uber to the restaurant. The valet cost is $15, not including tip. Once seated, our waiter asked if we would like anything to drink and we opted for water to begin with. We received near radio silence thereafter. The waiter never returned, opting to assist the tables around us. We waited for nearly half an hour to place our orders and drinks, to no avail from the original waiter. Though once we complained the service improved tremendously, it definitely left a sour taste in our mouths. Pro-tip to all restaurants out there, though we may not drink alcohol nor always "dress the part", we definitely expect the same level of service and courtesy as all other guests. In particular at a steakhouse where the prices are higher. The food itself, specifically the steak, is good. Not the best steak we've ever had, but I can see why Benny's has a renown reputation. The sides were a bit underwhelming, we opted for the mac & cheese and truffle fries. Huge shoutout to our waitress who replaced the original gentleman for trying to ensure our evening out was memorable, she was extremely polite and on-point with recommendations and our needs. The restaurant also threw in a free dessert in an attempt to placate our experience, but again it's very difficult to climb out of a poor experience from the get-go.

Been to Benny's twice. First time was over 4 years ago and the food is still as amazing as it was then. The dry-aged tomahawk ribeye we shared was cooked perfectly. The sides were a great addition and the ambiance screams traditional steakhouse. They do traditional correctly. Glad we were able to come back.

RIP Benny’s ! =( ate there the day before the closed up shop. Sorry to see them go because it was one of the better steaks in chicago. Went for Tomahawk with mushrooms . The steak was cooked perfectly... red and warm in the center and crisp and delicious on the outside.

Incredible selection of steaks both dry and wet aged. Wait staff was attentive and efficient. Several members of our dinner party however got cocktails that were a "little shallow" and without garnishment. Aside from that if was a great meal that ended with a round of Louis XIII Almost forgot, the bartender was a class act..Good man.

Wow! Really good experience. At our table we had the bacon appetizer which was ridiculously good. It was a very thick cut and reminded me more of pork belly. The traditional filet and dry aged bone-in rib eye were spot on. Sides we tried included the creamed corn and twice bake potato. Finished off the meal with coffee and creme brûlée. From start to finish this meal was perfect.

Had a very night dinner at Benny's enjoying a salad a lovely 10oz filet mignon and one of their gorgeous deserts. All dishes were brought promptly so no wait at all. The ambience was really nice, calm and confortable and the lady who cared about me was really lovely. I didn't feel any pressure about any choice (I don't drink wine for instance) and as I run on water I was served tap water (which is really fine to me) instead of being charged for a bottle of water.
