"Berber, a mainstay at 1516 Broadway, owes about $100,000 to landlord Polk Associates. A three-day pay-or-quit notice issued to the restaurant expired in the last week of October. The restaurant owners did not provide comment to the outlet." - Paolo Bicchieri

"If it’s dinner and a show that you’re craving, look no further. Nearly every night, this swanky North African-accented cabaret showcases an array of thrilling performances, from live musicians and dancers to acrobats and aerialists, accompanying the spectacle with a prix fixe that boasts the bold, complex flavors of Moroccan cuisine. Friendly service will be only too happy to help you choose from signature dishes like a warmly spiced sweet-savory duck bastilla, or a slow-cooked lamb shoulder tajine with black Mission figs and ras al hanout. Accompany your meal with an array of interesting cocktails or Moroccan wines, and for dessert, finish with a flaky baklava or saffron panna cotta. No doubt, your night out on the town will be one to remember." - Michelin Inspector

"With Persian New Year just around the corner, Berber on Broadway will honor the holiday with a $65 9-item meal of North African cuisine. And the restaurant is bringing in community partners: Aroma Tea Shop will serve a formal tea service, and Zibatreats will serve banana and walnut cupcakes. The event is a two-night affair, March 12 and 19, and reservations are available through Tock." - Paolo Bicchieri

"An intriguing addition to the neighborhood, Berber brings North African flavors and live performances to a space that’s seen several businesses come and go in recent years. Dishes like shakshouka with crispy potatoes, charred beer kebabs, and bissara, a warm sprouted fava bean dip, are served in a five-course set menu that is paired with belly dancers, aerialists, and live music. Grab a la carte dishes and craft cocktails in the bar, too, without the commitment to a show." - Eater Staff

Berber has been a spot I’ve been eyeing for years. Not sure if it is the same place but they use to have tents. As soon as you step foot inside it is a whole new world.we got the VIP experience which comes with a few extras(great seating, cocktail with every course, picture opp with performers) -Bread with 3spreads: fresh baked bread that pairs perfectly with all three spreads. -Sweet Potatoes(not pictured): sweet potatoes with goat cheese and honey were the best part of the night if you ask me. -Sea Bass: first time having sea bass and it melted like butter paired perfectly with the vegetable couscous. Baklava: freshest baklava I have ever had Dinner and a show in the city you couldn’t ask for more. The service and food were good, just not sure it is a Michelin. The wait staff is good but they are so busy that you don’t feel complete in that area but not their fault, there is a lot of moving parts to the show. All of the performances were good. Just a tip we booked the 7:30 show and didn’t leave until around 10, great event.

The show, gypsy nation was fantastic. The waiters were sharp and attentive. They provide a beautiful variety of wine options from around the globe. Beautiful glasses for their beverages and bravo to the bartender. My old fashion was delicious. Merci! Menu favs: Brussels and the ice cream topped deliciousness.

I just got back from Marrakesh and miss it so much already. We went to Berber in SF for the Persian New Year Celebration high tea and we had a wonderful time. The staff was attentive and friendly throughout my visit. Even though most of them are not Berber (a member of the indigenous People from North Africa), they remind me of Moroccans a lot. So genuine, so much passion & their hospitality. The food was amazing and authentic to Marrakesh. I was blown away by the flavors and textures in each bite. The standout for me was the cocktail, which was the perfect complement to my meal. According to Michelin guide, Berber's cocktail is top-notch must-try. Bartender Bo is the best. We haven't got the opportunity to watch dinner show. It looks like circus do Soleil, can't wait for my next dinner show 3 course experience.

Overall, I would give Berber a 2.5 out of 5 stars, but Google doesn't allow decimal rating, so I'm rounding it down to 2 (it's really hard for me to justify a 3 star rating). Berber is a Moroccan restaurant that offers a unique dining experience with live music and dancing. My friends and I went to Berber for the restaurant week. They had 2 prix-fixe menus, one with 4 courses and another one with 5. The 5 course menu had roasted branzino in addition to everything on the 4 course menu. We opted for the 5-course prix-fixe menu, which started with a butternut squash soup served with dukkah spice and Greek yogurt. The soup was creamy and flavorful, and the dukkah spice added a nice nutty crunch. Next, we had the Berber salad, which consisted of county line mixed greens, heirloom beets, and walnut balsamic dressing. The salad was fresh, and the beets were a nice touch, but it was slightly lacking in flavor. I wish there were more pomegranates. The roasted branzino was served with raisins chermoula and roasted baby Yukon potatoes. The branzino was cooked well, but it wasn't deboned properly. My friend and I had a few bones in our branzino dish. The chermoula added a bright and flavorful touch, but there wasn't enough of it, and the fish lacked flavors and seasoning. The potatoes were delicious and perfectly cooked. You could tell the lamb shanks were cooked well because the meat was falling off the bone. Though I will say the lamb was a bit gamey for my liking. For dessert, we had the chocolate mousse cake, which was served with cardamom cream and raspberry sorbet. The mousse was rich. The cardamom cream added a nice complexity and was definitely a dominant flavor in the dessert. If you don't like cardamom, then you may not enjoy this dessert. The raspberry sorbet was a refreshing contrast to the chocolate mousse, and it had a very smooth texture. We also got a free cocktail for checking in online on Yelp. We tried sarab and Moroccan 75, and they both were quite bitter (not our taste preference). The service was a bit slow at times. We had to wait quite a bit between courses and had to constantly ask our waiter for a water refill. The restaurant was full of people, and the music was loud, but it was easy to have a conversation with my friends at the table. The food wasn't for me personally, but the service was okay, and the atmosphere was great.

Brought our mom here to celebrate her 80th birthday! The service was excellent and attentive. The food was delicious. The lamb tagine was tender and juicy. The Moroccan chips crispy and well seasoned. The trio of bread dips was amazing -- each a delightful flavor. The couscous was filling and flavorful. The octopus was a good portion, but a bit rubbery. We even had mint tea which took my taste buds back to my time spent in Morocco. The atmosphere was electric and mysterious. The performers were personable and talented and we appreciated how they greeted every patron and announced all celebrations. My mom really enjoyed herself and was excited to have this memorable experience. Thanks Berber for a great evening!!

Amazing experience. We went for the Sunset show with dinner. It was a set meal, and each course came out in between performances on stage. It was an intimate setting, with the stage in the middle and guests dining all around the stage. First, the food. The flavors were incredible. Absolutely loved the duck confit and the lamb with couscous. The baklava with ice cream for dessert was also really good. Drinks were great, and we also ordered a baileys shot which was delicious. The performances were mesmerizing. Belly dancing with a hip hop twist, contortionist, singing, it was all beautiful. 100% would recommend.

Seated for 6 at one of the large booth tables. No show going on at this time. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food didn't take too long to come out. Entres are definitely shareable, and so we only ordered 4 entrees and 3 appetizers but still had leftovers. Dips and bread are delicious. Oxtail is so good. Camel burger was a bit dry and gamey, so might not be in everyone's taste. Enjoy!

Came here for the fixed menu + show. It was a fantastic time, really. The performers were great, the food was fantastic, and the wine pairing was reasonably priced ($35). Would definitely like to come back to try the food outside of the show. Oh, the baklava was freaking fantastic. Not too sweet.
