Berlin Döner

Super fast and the döner tasted amazing. I am from Germany originally and this was the best so far I had in the States in the past 10 years. Kudos!! Why? 1) The chicken meat tasted exactly as it shoud. 2) The sauce was perfect 3) The pita bread was nice, fresh and toasty, not a piece of rubber. Fantastic. P.S.: Yummy baklava also

This place is authentic! Their warm and toasted house bread pairs well with the tender marinated chicken. The serving size is huge. Good for 2. The white sauce brings the whole sandwich together.

About 5’9 Indian worker who was absolutely disrespectful. Tried to belittle me and make witty remarks about my nationality. Thats not even the best part. I ordered a pita and home-bread chicken shwarma. Meat has fat all over it and most of it is undercooked/raw. Serious health violations eapecially sinxe my wife gagged and threw up after the 3rd bite. Please see picture attached and avoid at all costs.

Pleasantly pleased with the quality and service of this little hidden gem near NYU. The quality and quantity were great. This was my first time trying döner, it was definitely alittle different than regular gyro. The staff was friendly. I would recommend evto try this place if you are near NYU.

Possibly the greatest doner sandwich I’ve ever had. The harmony between the oil and vegetables, along with the homemade bread was absolutely outstanding. Divine. If you’re reading his you have to try this place, highly highly recommend.

I recently visited Berlin Diner in New York, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations. I had high hopes based on the reviews and its reputation, but my experience fell short. The menu looked promising, offering a mix of classic diner dishes with a German-inspired twist, but the food itself didn’t quite deliver. I ordered a schnitzel platter and a side of potato pancakes, which sounded delicious. However, the schnitzel was overly greasy, and the potato pancakes were undercooked and lacked the crispiness I was expecting. To make matters worse, I ended up with an upset stomach later that evening, which was disappointing considering I was looking forward to a hearty and satisfying meal. The service, on the other hand, was quite good. The staff were friendly, attentive, and quick to bring out our orders, which I really appreciated. The diner itself had a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a pleasant spot to sit and enjoy a meal. While my experience with the food wasn’t ideal, I can tell they put effort into creating a unique concept. Hopefully, with a few tweaks in the kitchen, Berlin Diner can reach its full potential. I’d be willing to give it another try in the future!

Had a great experience at Berlin Doner! Adnan and the owner is always friendly and courteous, making every visit a pleasant one. The food is fresh, delicious, and the portion sizes are great value for money. Highly recommend for anyone craving a tasty and satisfying meal!

I consistently go here for lunch. I get a chicken wrap with lettuce tomato and tahini. Very big portions - the wrap is a white tortilla. The price is a little high at $14.10 all in but they do not ask for tips.

Though Kebab Express is at the top of the food chain in the Village, Berlin Döner offers what might be the most authentic kebab. One that makes you feel like you're out with your mates in a mid-sized European town. The meat has a nice crust to it, though all accompaniments feel basic compared to Kebab Express.

Literally one of the best Doner sandwiches I've had. It's always well packed and the beef/lamb combo is actually really good (not chewy at all). The side of the red cabbage is really fresh and the sauces help amp the flavor. This is a very big sandwich btw, so I would normally split it. Hidden small joint if you're craving a halal doner. It also tastes amazing if you pack it to go and warm it at home.

I loved this spot. There's many doner kabob spots ard nyc but this is why I liked it. 1. They let us sample the meat to decide between chicken and beef lamb combo 2. They have 3 differ2nt kind of breads. The home made bread is thicker and like a torta Try it 3. Sauces are on point The lamacjun bread was on. More potato than meat I thought

I went here for lunch one day and ordered the chicken doner on the pita and it was really good! The guys working there were very nice and helpful in deciding what to order. We also ordered the kucuk lahmacun as an app and it was really good - it's hard to describe but so good! It's a small place, but they more than make up for that with flavor and friendliness.

I'll be honest, this is likely my fault as I came here a day after getting back from Berlin, and having had the best Döner of my life there, I instantly craved it upon landing home. There aren't too many options in the city for Döner that I know of, and I probably came here with unrealistically high expectations, thinking it will be the same quality as Germany. Sadly this place did not hit the spot for me; the bread was stale/hard, meat felt over processed, and generally when it all came together it lacked flavor. The people working there seemed nice regardless.

It's not on the menu, but the thing to get is lahmacun with chicken doner. Get that with white sauce. This is the only place I've found in the country that is willing to make it this way. I used to get this as a wrap back in Ansbach Germany. It's really, really good.

If you miss Berlin kebabs, this place will scratch that itch! Friendly people behind the counter, the bread is freshly toasted just before loading it up with all the fixings! Shocked more people aren't in here on a Saturday night, but they don't know what they're missing!

For a post-dinner snack I decided to get a quintessential German street food - doner kebab. I walked into the store on a Friday at 10pm. Counter service seemed fast and minimal; the entire process from entry to paying to receiving my order took less than 5 minutes. I ordered the beef/lamb gyro ($8.75). The establishment did not skimp on meat; half of the doner was strips of beef and lamb, carved straight off the rotating grill. A fluffy pita, choice of vegetables (I got lettuce, tomato, and onion), and choice of sauces (white and red, of course) rounded off the gyro. At this price point, this establishment is hard to pass up.

OMG Alert. The Berlin Diner on Macdougal was absolutely delicious. I went with a chicken schwarma sandwich. So goooood. People are real friendly there as well. It's 2 hrs later and I still taste it. Yummy. I'm in my glory

Great location. Delicious and fresh food. The service is beyond amazing and friendly. The shop is a little hole in the wall but it's so cozy and welcoming. The portions of the meals are perfect and full of flavors. 10 out of 10, would recommend.

I've doner lot of things in my life, and one of them is to eat here at Berlin Doner, although during winter months it gets temporarily renamed to Brrrrrrrrr-lin Doner. It's been a long time since the first time I came here. Pretty much as soon as it popped up on MacDougal Street I became a regular customer, because I grew up in Europe eating Doners so often that I must be part Doner by now. They're good people and they make good products. It's never blown me away like some of the British Doners and a few of the German Doners and of course the authentic Istanbul stuff does, and there's much better Turkish kebab out there - for example some of the ones up in Toronto and especially over in Europe as I said - but in this part of town, this is one of the better ones you can get, possibly even the best in Manhattan. And there's the added bonus is that is open incredibly late at night. When you factor all these things in, it simply has to score a very high rating. But it doesn't Take My Breath Away (Berlin).

Got my food on Saturday afternoon, my order was taken right away! There were seats to sit, and the pita chicken & falafel was delicious. the go to place !

As incredible as it looks. Beef and chicken cut off the machine and no charge for doing half beef and half chicken. The food absolutely surpassed my expectations. The staff was immensely friendly. It was $9.95 for my meal and although it would have been $5-7 at a food cart the quality surpasses any kind of cart food imaginable. Price: $-$$ depending on your meal! Seating: 10-15 people can easily sit inside. 5 star customer service. Bathrooms: no public restroom TV: Always on in the back!

If you're looking for a bang for your buck, this is the place. Huge portion that fills you. The meat could have had fewer spices on it, but generally was delicious! The pita was served well toasted; a nice balance between crisp and soft! Will definitely be back to try different sauces.

Pretty good döner and a decent price. Staff is friendly and service is quick. The entrance is a tight squeeze when other customers are waiting around but there's seating in the back. Better deal and service than Kotti. Maybe because the staff here gets paid better and not $10/hr while the owner expects the customer to pay his staffs wages with tip while over charging for the food.

Good, not great. Awesome that it's open late and I love MacDougal Street. The chicken doner though was incredibly salty and a bit ratty to the taste (a little old tasting?), and the bread was tough and chewy (in a bad way). It was doused in creamy sauce which seemed like a taste copout. It's my first doner sandwich, so perhaps it's just not my thing.

As a german living in the US the only thing I can say is THANK YOU for giving me back a little bit of home. So delicious and super close to the german original!

Was healthy and cheap but wasn't particularly delicious. The chicken tasted rubbery. I feel bad giving this Turkish place a mediocre review cuz my friend is Turkish but yelp comes before friendship.

Really delicious meat and fries, with amazing service! The portions you get are generous. There's limited seating inside. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I miss a good Döner from Berlin, so this satiated my hunger and nostalgia. I got a beef/lamb with everything, and can recommend the spicy sauce.

Ohhhh mahhhhh gooodness. Come here only if you're willing to walk away stuffed and ridiculously happy. Ordered the chicken Doner with all the fixings -- personal favorite was the sweet and spicy red sauce and French fries (INSIDE). Make sure to order with the homepage bread-- it does make it slightly more difficult to eat it but it makes allllll the difference. The owner was super nice and friendly. Also the meat is halal if anyone is wondering. 10/10 would highly recommend.

The place was good a month ago. Now it is getting worse and worse First and foremost they just increased the price for couple dollars, and generic lunch cost increased from around $10 to $15. In my opinion it is not worth. Where you can get better sandwich from the same area for cheaper price. Second meat quality was pretty bad on my last try. They try to recycle the meat over and they do not do it properly. They probably left last cooked layer on meat from yesterday. Meat was thick, chewy and old. And this time we found the aluminum piece on meat in picture. Definitely not worth price & quality

Extremely poor service. Rude staff behind the counter who made us feel unwelcome from the start. I asked for a combo box with fries and received a plastic container that was 50% fries and neglible meat. When confronted, the server denied anything was wrong. Totally not worth it for the 16 bucks that I was made to pay for that. We left the food back at her counter and left without further argument. I'd skip this and go to any of the other street food places across the street.

I love their food and their staff!! I was having a really rough day today because school was stressing me out. I saw Berlin Döner while walking home. I decided to give them a try because I was really hungry. When I walked in, they made me feel so much better. They were so welcoming and nice. It's rare to find an establishment that has good food and good service these days. I bought a chicken and beef doner, they HIT THE SPOT!! I also got their baklava which was also AMAZING!! I'm so glad I decided to give them a try! Also, this place is college student friendly (affordable). I am definitely coming back!

Good portion, inexpensive, and most importantly juicy and delicious. Way better than what you find on the streets. Had the box with lamb and chicken combo (not on the menu), it was big! Substituted fires for rice. Asked for garlic sauce and curry sauce on the side. Never had curry sauce before, it was a good call, will try the other sauces next time. I'd come back again!

An extremely high value, low cost meal if you find yourself in Greenwich Village and are looking for a quick bite. I got a chicken doner on pita with all the toppings for $7.95, and it is extremely filling especially because they do not skimp on the meat. It could easily make for 1.5 meals if you really wanted to extend it. I also had my first baklava experience, and it's now one of my favorite desserts. Highly recommend it as well. Service is fast and staff is friendly.

There's a lot I'll put up with, but raw chicken isn't on that list. My chicken sandwich was great until I discovered a large, completely raw chunk of chicken right in the middle. I was offered a new piece of chicken to replace it, but there was no way I was going to eat more of the sandwich. For me, flavor doesn't matter if you serve raw chicken. First and last visit

The lamb and beef doner here was probably as close to the ones I've had in Istanbul and throughout western europe. The sauces and the meat were totally on point and the homemade bread was great. If anything, the whole thing was overstuffed and incredibly messy so it would almost make more sense to get it as a bowl. But then you'd miss out on that great bread. Life really forces choices on you sometimes. I'll def be back next time I'm in the city to try the chicken.

The best thing to get here without a doubt is the lamb/beef on homemade bread. It is topped generously with veggies and sauce that make the entire thing a miracle for your taste buds. The vibe inside is like a mom and pop shop. Right when you walk in, there are two rotating mounds of meat that get you excited to eat. I would definitely recommend you sit down and eat this because it is quite messy. MESSY BUT DELICIOUS! My only gripe with this place is the price. It is quite expensive for what it is: a sandwich, but if you split it with someone, it is not too wallet emptying. Definitely come here after a night out.

If you are craving a real gyro- this is not it. Had the chicken gyro. It was meh. Nothing to write home about. Although the chicken had alright flavor the whole thing overall wasn't great. The sauces lack luster, the white sauce tastes like bulk ranch dressing & the hot sauce tastes like ketchup with pepper flakes in it. Skip it.

I went to the place yesterday July 22,2021 around 11:43PM , had the worst experience , they served me over cooked and cold meat , I even requested to give me a fresh wrap and both chicken and lamb was cold and he served me the remaining from the bottom of the tray , and let me put this here that got the last 5 minutes there wasn't any customer before me

It's closed to NYU! I am a student so I go there for lunch very often. People are super nice there and the food is totally affordable!

Super authentic Doner kebab in NYC. They even make their own bread, which is key to a good doner. The prices are great and the portions are huge. Really can't go wrong stopping by here for a great doner

Excellent spot. 1) If you are craving Berlin-style Doner. This is the best spot in NYC. 2) Only downside is the price, but, it is in the most expensive area of Manhattan. 3) Overall, great spot.

One of my husband's favorite memories of living in Berlin was stumbling out of the clubs at 3 am and indulging in the beautiful messiness of a delicious Shish Doner. So when I happened by this little spot on MacDougal this week after a doctor's appointment I decided to bring him home a little treat for dinner. WOW! Their sandwiches are amazing. First - the bread, the wonderful traditional Turkish bread that is so much more toothsome and delightful for this kind of sandwich. Unlike regular pita, their bread has amazing chew and holds up for a long time when you're eating it. The choices are simple - but very fresh. I got the Falafel and I chose the Lamb for my husband. My husband was so tickled that I picked this up for him - but was even more delighted when he ate it. The veggies were crisp and fresh, the meat flavorful and tender. It was a messy bit of joy that transported him back to his college years. The two women working there (mother and daughter, perhaps) were so nice and friendly. It's been a rough time for small businesses like theirs, but they haven't let their quality or service slip in the slightest. Please treat yourself to one of their doners next time you're in the village. If you go easy on the white sauce - you can't find a more fresh and healthy spot of lunch or dinner.

Berlin Döner is the closest thing I've seen in NYC to the Döner spots you see all over Germany as a much loved fast food. This tiny establishment can be found near NYU in a busy part of Greenwich Village. My first try was a sandwich with well seasoned, top quality chicken from the spit piled in a pide with some thinly sliced cabbage and tomatoes. I opted for all three sauces on the side. Your options are a creamy garlic, white dill or a sweet and sour sauce. Expect to be messy with a sandwich so big you could really break it down to two meals, which I did, easily. That made the $14 price palatable to boot!

Doner was really good but owner get so greedy, within few months as they started this new business in this place, they jumped up sandwich price now from $10 to $15. It's not worth it to pay $15 for one person when you have so many other good food options with less price especially at macdougal street.

This is by far the best Döner in NYC. I have been craving this since my last trip to Germany, and I finally found it! The food is sooo amazing. I travel into NYC to penny station and walk here once a month now. It's sooo worth it. There is also a really good vegetarian döner with grilled veggies. The owner speaks German and is super friendly.

As Visitors from Germany we went Greenwich Village one Night. We passend accidently at this "Berlin Döner" and wondered whats the Story behind. We met Ersin the Owner who came from Berlin to New York to start a Döner Restaurant. Of course we had to give it a "proof" if this is a real "german style Döner " and it absolutly is. If you go out at Night for Drinks and Dancing near Greenwich Village , this is your place to Go for Food. Very tasty meat (Special receipe from the Owner), fresh vegetables mix and a Selection of Sauce ( the garlic one is the original german style sauce). It was really awesome and i absolutly recommend to go there and have a Berlin Döner!!!
