"This casual A-frame restaurant on Washington isn’t just a comforting place to eat pasta and pizza while surrounded by servers in bright red blazers. It’s our favorite Italian spot in Culver City. Order their smoked eel pasta rolled in pecorino butter, brisket meatballs, and a couple of pizzas. These pies come out of a wood-fired oven with a blistered crust and soft doughy centers that somehow avoid sagging under toppings like sausage and miso mayo. Expect to see dates gulping amaretto sours, friends snacking on zucchini blossoms, and families towing $800 strollers. Reservations may be tough, but you can usually book slots a few weeks ahead without much fuss." - Nikko Duren

"Neroni plans to serve an all-day menu of California Italian fare, from rotisserie lamb shoulder to a few pasta plates, with pizza as the retro-cool restaurant’s primary focus. Expect a variety of styles, including wood-fired pies, New York Style thin-crust pizza, and Sicilian square slices. Brunch is sure to be a weekend hit, and of course will include pancakes." - Farley Elliott

"Chef Jason Neroni’s new Best Bet completes a nearly four-year journey at the former A-Frame space in Culver City. Already known for his Italian prowess and wood-fired acumen at spots like the Rose in Venice, Neroni is leaning into not just pizza but also Cal-Italian staples including pastas like cacio e pepe to a fritto misto. Desserts come from Neroni and Rose pastry chef Jose Mariscal. The design is fun, funky, and personal to Neroni — a self-described Star Wars fanatic — making Best Bet a great all-around place for a night out in Culver City." - Eater Staff

New pizza restaurant in the neighborhood doesn't disappoint even though the mushroom pizza was a bit overpriced ($35 - maybe it was the Spruce Powder). On the menu it says Garlic Knots ($8), but you're only served one. It was tasty. The Atlantic Tuna Tartare ($22) and Wood Roasted Eggplant Parmesan ($24) may have been my favorite. Full of flavor with every bite. I wish they brought out the eggplant dish with the pizza as there was a lot of leftover sauce (they reset the table before serving the pizza). If you want dipping sauce with your pizza, it's $4 extra. Staff were friendly, though there was a bit of a delay getting my friend a drink as she arrived a couple of minutes after we had ordered our drinks. My cocktail, Idiot Cousin, was refreshing. I booked a table outside, but they tried to seat us inside. It felt quite warm inside and I'm glad they were able to seat us outside, which has a nice layout. Overall I'd return and try other items on the menu.

Delightful evening at Jason Neroni’s new venture: the oddly named “Best Bet” in the old A-frame /ihop building. What's great: The salads. Large selection of farmer's market fruits and veggies with interesting marinades, dressings, sauces, protein accents. Super clever, fresh, healthful. I would go back frequently just to enjoy these. What's not great: their fried items and pasta. Execution issues on the four dishes we ordered. What has potential: Their Pizzas. The toppings are just as interesting as the salads but the dough on the two we had was too thick and certainly not the "NY Style" that was advertised, plus it was not charred on the bottom. One "pizza" showed up as a Calzone lol. In an odd coincidence, we ran into two separate groups of friends there that night. One group seemed to have a few hits and misses like us, the other left a glowing review, so I think they are just working through the kinks. Most restaurants have inevitable soft opening issues and I am confident they will improve in time. #thefoodietraveler

Their pizza is very delicious (mostly due to the amazing bread!), but the real standout was the melon salad. That was one of the most interesting things I’ve ever tasted, with the Calabrian chilies and the hyssop + bergamot + lemon against the melons and the meat. It’s typical fine dining prices here, and the pizzas are small, but you can definitely be very full and have extremely interesting flavors for under $100 if you go for a pizza plus a couple of sides. The drinks are also super creative, herbal, and complex. The outdoor eating area is very noisy and not well separated from the street, and it was also pretty sunny so we opted to eat inside, but the music is way too loud in there, which made it hard to hear the waiter and sometimes each other. The atmosphere feels a bit too casual, which doesn’t match the priciness of the food. All of that being said, I’ll definitely be coming back!!

An old iHop reimagined into a tasty pizza spot. For pizza the price is on the high side, plus they weren’t flexible on modifications hence the 4*….if I’m paying $25 for a 10 inch pizza (which is not a large pizza either), and I don’t want garlic on my pizza just let us leave it off. It’s not that hard. Worth a visit but not the place if you swap out ingredients 🙈 We had the Italian Stallion, Ode de Franco, Cacio et Pepe and a couple starters between 3.

Just opened so caveat on the food and service. Prompt got there at opening for easy seating. Must make reservations. The apps were amazing and very creative. The pasta wasn’t great. Tasted rubbery. Pizza was thin crust and ok. Not the best.

Kitchen made up for lots of perils in the front of house. Staff are having fun which is great to see but what they are doing here could be so special but it will take getting the basics right and having the pleasure of sitting at the bar we had a front row to witnessing many issues, errors, and lackadaisical behavior of the staff - wrong drinks, spilled drinks..it’s no wonder the cocktails are premixed, at least that ensures consistency. I trust they’ll work out the kinks but it’ll take awareness of the Manager and owner to tend to and take it to the next level. We had the meatballs and Italian Stallion pizza - the food was all spectacular. Vibes are fun and relaxed, and again, the seemingly upscale but relaxed service model is elegant..a little refinement could go a long way. Would like to visit again in a few months to see how it’s changed.

Tried out the new neighborhood pizza spot by the same chef as The Rose Venice. It’s located right next door to Hatchet Hall (pro tip: grab a drink at old man bar while you wait for your table). All of the staff we encountered were lovely and the vibe of the restaurant was lively and casual. For apps we tried the squash blossoms (10/10) and meatballs (9/10), both were excellent. For mains we decided pizza was the best bet (lol) we ordered the Italian stallion (7.5/10), Godzilla (10/10), and Funkadelic (9/10). Don’t sleep on the Godzilla pizza! For dessert we ordered the Budino (10/10) and EVOO cake with grape sorbet (5/10). The Budino was one of the best desserts we’ve ever had. Overall great experience. Will be back to try more dishes!

Pizza is incredible. I don’t think I’ve ever had a better crust. Portions are on the smallish side and the prices are not for the faint of heart or wallet. Otherwise very enjoyable.
