"Beyond the Pale is a slightly confusing but highly useful place. It looks like a mix between an Irish pub and an upscale cocktail lounge, and it’ll come in handy when you need a spot in Nolita that’s more attractive than Spring Lounge and less hectic than Mother’s Ruin. The room is long and narrow, with hanging globe lights, a few leather booths, and some tables in the back where you can hang out and sip on a $20 martini made with olive oil-washed vodka. Be sure to get a side of curly fries." - Bryan Kim, Carlo Mantuano, Kenny Yang, Hillary Reinsberg

"Is Beyond the Pale a pub? Sort of. It does have a Guinness sign out front, and you can drink a beer and eat some wings here. But this Nolita spot also has a long, dark space with a sleek wooden bar, abstract art, and a nice seating area in the back where you can drink a Oaxacan Old Fashioned by candlelight. It’s casual, but it feels more upscale than most other bars in the neighborhood, and it’s useful for when you need a fun place to start your night with some friends who are too old for Sweet and Vicious. Don’t forget a side of curly fries for the table." - Bryan Kim

This review is the for the bald bartender. Came here with a buddy on a Friday night. They were relatively busy but no excuse for his attitude. He half effortlessly looked for a menu to give me then i said don't worry about it, what do you recommend? He said what do you want? I named a pretty common drink that majority of bars especially cocktail bars offer, he just shook his head "no". Alright dude, then how about you give me a menu. How am i supposed to know what you can make? This place is only worth coming to for the attractive people, not the drinks or service.

Fun bar in Soho! I emailed the day before for an 8 person reservation for a work outing and they replied right away and secured us a great table at the front of the bar. I space is much bigger than it looks, with lots of big tables in the back for large groups. The bartender was friendly and made delicious cocktails. The bar snacks were so good, especially the Burrata and the guacamole and chip. Looking forward to going back!

It's a beautiful sunny but brisk day in February, and you get off the 6train at Spring Street. Before you lies a deep green storefront, freshly painted, a lonely sandwich board asking for patronage. You step in. It's warm but not overly so. It is only somewhat busy but word has not spread of its existence. You order two drinks with average prices and interesting ingredients. You cheers. You sip. You are at a loss for words. You think, "How can there only be this many people when the cocktails taste this balanced, this refreshing?" You sit and take in the space. It will not be long before the message gets around. "Join us." You order a second round, as good if not better than the first. You leave busier than you left it. While it is noisier you note the vibe hasn't changed. You'll be back.

The cocktails were delicious and the service was top notch. The spicy margarita was delicious as was the filthy martini. A bit dark but a nice vibe. Did not try the food. Would go back for sure!!

Bartender was rude, scolded us for giving a different bartender our order after another failed to acknowledge what we asked for. I’d understand if it was a crowded spot but there was absolutely not need for the degree of open hostility we faced.

The drinks were fine but the DJ who played there tonight was miserable and rude. Clearly had an off night himself and took it out on my friend for simply asking for a song request! May not return after that.
