We were so excited to go back to one of our old favorites. It's been heartbreaking since it was closed a couple years ago. The ambiance was amazing and the service was fantastic. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. Too salty for sure and not enough seasoning/flavor. Shellfish is excellent. Steak was under seasoned. Lasagna was way too salty. Hopefully the kitchen staff is just working out the bugs. We will come again and hope for a better food experience.

Google
Incredible and beautiful restaurant with great service and nice atmosphere. I liked the oysters and swordfish, steak for my husband and meatballs was also good! But the desserts need some work, for a restaurant of this level they could be tastier)) Anyway, I’m still happy with this place and we are going to come back in a few months.

Google
We had our anniversary dinner (20 years) here; the food was fantastic and the service (Jared) was impeccable. We were regulars at the previous incarnation, and this team improved on the original. Thank you for a memorable evening!

Google
Fantastic service, even better food. Steak with porcini butter was a phenomenal combination. Butternut squash tortelloni was some of the best pasta we’ve ever had. The lemon cake was incredible. The tiramisu left a little to be desired, but still good. Shoutout to Anthony, our waiter, who was extremely welcoming and accommodating!

Google
Sadly I only took one photo which means it was probably a great dinner :) I went out to celebrate with a friend, we walked in around 8:30 with no reservation and only had to wait 10-15 minutes for a table (I say that’s great for a restaurant that opened less than 2 weeks ago and had a line when we walked in), every member of the staff is AMAZING!! Our server was named Bella and a sever assistant was Asher. Both were absolutely above and beyond. We ate super slow and talked for hours (I think we left around 12-12:30) they never made us feel rushed and paced every course so that we could take our time and talk between each course from apps to our dessert. We sat outside and when it started raining we went and sat at the bar and was served by Maryann, she was amazing too. The food was delicious, we loved our steaks and the creme brûlée was amazing. But I am leaving this 5 star review because of the incredible STAFF!! Every person I spoke to here was above and beyond and extremely kind and patient for working at such a busy, new restaurant. They were the reason we had such a memorable experience. Definitely coming back :)

Google
We were really impressed. The service was amazing, from the accommodating hostess (Mila?) to our server (Jodie) to the managers (Steve and Tiffany?) stopping by multiple times to kindly check on us. The atmosphere was super lively and each room was designed completely different from the rest which was a pleasant surprise while walking through. The apps and drinks were great - specifically tried the loaded focaccia and whipped ricotta. The chicken parm and vodka pasta were good but would have been better if they used a bit more sauce / less salt. Was surprised by the variety of gluten free options too. Dessert tartufo was amazing and unlike anything I have ever tried — basically layers of gelato and chocolate cake. Can’t wait to go back and try more.

Google
Let me just start by saying that this is by far my new favorite restaurant and when I mean by far I mean by a long shot. This place beats any restaurant in central Birmingham. One strong reason I feel like this is because of my server Faheem. Faheem went above and beyond what he was supposed to do and made sure that my significant other and I were doing alright. He was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what was to be talked about when the time was right. Everyone in the Big Rock community should feel blessed to have someone like him on their team. Thank you Faheem and Big Rock

A R.

Google
They have a wide variety of gluten-free dishes clearly marked on the menu. What we ordered was quite delicious. I only noticed one dish that was labeled as gluten free when it clearly wasn’t. However, the chef was very knowledgeable about the subject. My only complaint is that it took them 1 hour to serve us a salad to share and 1 hour and 15 minutes to serve the pasta. Considering it was a Monday, I don’t want to imagine how the service would be on a weekend. It’s quite an expensive place, more for special occasions.

Yelp
I just want to comment about the parking. When you first pull in to the restaurant, it gives the appearance that you 'have' to valet your vehicle. That is not the case. There is a parking deck to the south side of the restaurant when one can park. The valet cost is a 12 dollar 'fee', with the expectation of tipping on top of that charge. I thought that was a bit excessive. I would like to add that the dinner was enjoyable and the wait staff was very nice.

Yelp
Parking is a show and ridiculous not professional. Handicap should be able to park in front. service dragged out Food was good Ambiance is nice but loud

Yelp
The big rock was one of my very favorite restaurants and the go to for family celebrations for many years. I was extremely excited to hear that they reopened. After eating there once, I doubt I will be back. The service was disinterested and slow. My friend had to ask repeatedly for a drink, which he never got. The waitress who brought one of our courses seemed pissed off, but the most egregious part was that someone at our table accidentally broke a wine glass and there was Absolutely no urgency in getting all of the pieces taken off the table. We also had to ask repeatedly for extra napkins, and my one friend just sat there, soaking in wine. My steak was mediocre. I think the taste and texture is as good or better at Texas roadhouse. My wife really liked her lasagna, though, although I had a bite and wasn't as impressed as she was I was glad to see that they hadn't excessively remodeled the place. It still has that "this used to be a train station "charm to it. In all, it wasn't the worst meal I've ever had. But I paid far too much to have to rationalize my acceptance. Let's just say the overall experience was like going to a reunion show of your favorite group and leaving, wishing they had just stayed a memory.

Yelp
We had really high hopes for Big Rock Italian Chophouse, but unfortunately our experience didn't match the vibe of the beautiful space. We had a 9:45 reservation, and while we arrived right on time, we were told they were running a few minutes behind. At 10:05 we were finally brought to our table, but it was right by the entrance. When my boyfriend politely asked if there was another table available, the hostess gave him a dirty look and said there were literally no other tables open unless we wanted to wait 10-15 minutes. He said that was fine, and even offered to tip her $20 to help. Her response: "You're going to need a lot more than $20. We sat back down at the entrance to wait for a table in the main dining room. About 10 minutes later the same hostess came up to us nervously and said there was a table available, but another party also wanted it so whoever tipped her first would get it. Obviously, this was the table we had been told would be ready in 10 minutes, so it was a ruse just to get the $20 out of us. At that point, we just wanted to sit and eat, so we gave it to her. Still, it felt completely unprofessional and frankly cheap for a restaurant of this caliber, especially when we already had a reservation. The food was very underwhelming. We ordered the Loaded Focaccia, Stuffed Mushrooms, Butternut Squash Tortellini, Parmesan Potatoes, and the 12oz Grass-Fed NY Strip. The steak was very dry and hard to chew. Everything else was just okay, nothing really stood out. Given that it was a lively Saturday night and not just a late closing order, I expected more, especially at the price point. Service overall was mediocre, with long stretches where our server didn't check in on us. The highlight of the night was the space itself--the renovations are stunning and no detail was missed. I just wish the food and service matched the atmosphere.

Yelp
Service and ambiance were excellent, and I especially loved the Four Seasons room--it was the perfect setting for a girls' dinner. The drinks were well-made, with the Aviation standing out as a favorite. I really enjoyed the rigatoni bolognese; the flavors were rich and satisfying, though the portion felt a little on the smaller side. My girlfriend and I also shared the Italian salad, which was fresh and delicious. Overall, a great experience and I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
Big Rock is back with a whole new look! We tried to come last week but didn't realize it would be so busy. Reservations are a must! Even with reservations, this is a very busy place and they are limited. We managed to snag a spot at the bar. This is our preferred spot anyway. I will say that the seating at the bar really isn't ideal for eating and there are pillars in front of many of the seats. We managed though. This place is absolutely gorgeous! There is also a members only cigar bar upstairs. Cost of membership is $5000. But with that membership they guarantee a table either upstairs or down. We had great service. Larry and Paris were very attentive. The food was amazing! This place is definitely pricy though. For two dinners and 4 drinks it was about $400. You also have to valet, which is $12 +tip. The food was good but I don't know it was worth that kind of money.

Yelp
The multimillion dollar renovation to this restaurant is amazing. Lots of attention to detail. Moody vibe. Top-notch service. Food was very good. The swordfish was deemed particularly delicious. Would definitely try to request the main dining room although the noise level is pretty loud. Jess, our server, was very efficient and personable. Several of the restrooms were out of order leading to a long wait to use a restroom. Definitely needs improvement.

Hanadi A.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Steak was cooked to perfect temperature. The waitress was unaware the difference between veal and pork and was not very helpful with menu options. Ambiance was vibrant, very busy on Saturday evening.

Yelp
This reservation was for my husband's birthday, and I was excited to try the new place, because I love Cameron Mitchell restaurants. I'm usually unfortunately underwhelmed by new Birmingham restaurants, as the food always seems mediocre, and it's more of a scene. I was/am so blown away by Big Rock. I will say the restaurant is STUNNING, so if you want a scene, it is absolutely here. The funny thing is that the beauty takes a back seat to the service and food. Our waiter Anthony went above and beyond the entire time. All of his suggestions were spot on, and his timing and service were perfection. Everything we ordered was delicious and cooked to perfection! We can't wait to return! Thanks Anthony and Big Rock!

Yelp
Beautifully renovated restaurant with delicious food that is overshadowed with its insane prices. Service was impeccable but this was a one and done experience for sure.

Yelp

Yelp
Great to see Big Rock back again. Nicely renovated, although the bar area is tight and somewhat disappointing. Even more disappointing are all the 4 and 5 star reviews that share similar feedback as my review below about mediocre food. If the food is not representative of a fine dining experience, why mislead Yelpers with an inflated rating? Wine selection, by the glass, is lackluster. My wife ordered the penne vodka pasta and would rate it a 2/10, for lack of flavor and was really salty. I ordered the burrata and tomatoes and a Caesar salad with filet. Burrata 7/10. Caesar with filet 4/10. Both were salty, and filet wasn't hot. Would have given it a 5/10 but on a relative value basis I expected more from a $60 steak. Glad we checked it out but won't be a place we return to with other better options in town. Larry, the bar tender was great and personable.

Yelp
A beautiful restaurant for a nice occasion or dinner with a phenomenal menu and delicious food

Ron L.

Yelp
The wait staff was excellent...they were all over it. That's about the best thing of my experience though. I echo someone else's comment on the Durco pork chop... the chef should be ashamed to send it to the table. Really? A pork chop just sitting on the plate with absolutely nothing in the way of appealing garnishment or maybe some sort of sauce for dipping. There was nothing! If you're curious about this place you need to go quickly because with that type of product priced as high as it is, the place won't be around long. Sorry to be so negative, but it just wasn't a meal worth $188 for two.
google avatar

Maria C.

Yelp
We loved our server Michael, we will definitely be asking for him next time. We started with the Alaskan king crab in a jar which was obviously excellent and the burrata which was okay, wouldn't order it again. It came with some weird bread that I would make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich with. I ordered the carbonara which came with no bacon and barely any asparagus I actually added asparagus from our side to my dish. The dessert menu was fantastic. We lucked out and got a booth. Overall very disappointing and I never complain about my meals.

Judy S.

Yelp
From the minute, we walked in the door we were greeted and seated right away Jes was our server. She was fantastic, very professional ... her suggestions were spot on. We were not rushed we enjoyed the evening very very much. The young man that was her assistant was also very thoughtful and attentive.

Johnathan V.

Yelp
We had a truly disappointing experience at Big Rock Italian Chophouse. The entire evening felt like the restaurant was trying far too hard to present itself as a high-end, Michelin-star-style establishment, but unfortunately, both the service and the food fell drastically short. From the start, our waiter made the experience uncomfortable by pressuring us to order every single course up front so he could "curate the perfect meal." While we went along with it, what followed was anything but curated. Dishes came out back-to-back with no pacing, leaving us feeling rushed rather than cared for. To make matters worse: * Servers repeatedly reached over us while we were eating to deliver other dishes. * Entrées were brought to the table without utensils to eat them with. * Plates were moved while we were still eating to make room for other items. * Some servers even attempted to clear plates we weren't finished with. For the prices they charge, you expect a polished, seamless dining experience -- but this was chaotic, uncomfortable, and frustrating from start to finish. The food itself was average at best, and nothing about the evening justified the high-end prices they're asking. Birmingham has so many incredible dining options, but unfortunately, Big Rock misses the mark entirely.

Yelp
Some of the people who leave bad reviews are the ones you will never please. Our visit was excellent. The food was amazing! I recommend and would go back in a minute. Only weird thing was our server calling me and my friend of 30 years Mr. & Mrs. - really? I thought men and women could be friends, no?

Laura M.

Yelp
The food was a complete disappointment. After every bad course I kept hoping that the next plate would be better, but nope. It was all such low quality and tasted bad. Appetizer: fritto misto. Such low quality fried calamary. They didn't even bother to make their own special sauce which you often find in good restaurants. The side sauces were simple mayo and a red sauce that was no different than a mixture of ketchup and marinara. Disgusting. Definitely not worth the $22. Soups: Tried both the Italian wedding and the Creamy artichoke. The Italian wedding soup was less than mediocre and there were no artichokes to be found or tasted in the creamy artichoke soup. Main course: I tried the braised lamb pappardelle and the chicken parmesan. The braised lamb pappadelle actually tasted bad, sooo bad that I can't even describe it. There were two tiny pieces of lamb hiding among the pasta. I only ate those and left the rest. The chicken in the chicken parmesan tasted like spoiled old chicken that had been in the fridge for over 2 weeks. I couldn't believe it. Dessert: Tried 4 different kinds. The lemon cake was Kroger quality. The raspberry cheese cake was not bad. Probably the only thing that tasted sort of decent. The tiramisu was mediocre. The whole foods tiramisu cake is sooo much better. The Creme Brule was ok. All dessert sizes were super-sized as to make up with quantity for the poor quality. Kids menu was ok, but you can't mess up spaghetti with marinara sauce much. It's what you expect it to be. Their children drink options were cokes and sodas and juices - not freshly squeezed. If you want McDonald food quality with the big price tag in a nice ambiance and a big shot Zip Code, then this place is for you.

Megan D.

Yelp
Renovation is beautiful (though the original was beautiful too). $12 to valet is outrageous. Service was nice. Food was "Meh". Pasta dishes were mediocre at best, not what I would expect from an "Italian Chophouse". Wagyu Filet for $85 was fine but nothing special for that price. Sadly won't return. Just not the amazing experience I was hoping for.
google avatar

Paulette R.

Yelp
Not high end, just high priced. Atmosphere is dark and decor dated. Table small, not adequate for service and awkward. Service very poor. Slow, waiter moved plate while eating multiple times, did not replace silverware between courses and had to ask. Honestly , too many service issues to list. Food is mediocre. Cocktails were best part of the meal. At checkout they bring you a hand held for you to scan your own card. The price point of this restaurant and what this place actually is does not match. Just do not waste your time and money. There are so many better places in the area to dine

Tom J.

Yelp
Beautiful venue, horrible service ,mediocre food and high prices. Then when you leave your are hit with a $12 valet tab plus tip! Bring back the OLD Big Rock!

Yelp
It's a beautiful renovation! I had high hopes for this place. It was so expensive for the amount of food. It was good, not like I have to go back anytime soon.

Yelp
Pulled up to the old Big Rock with anticipation of a great experience and meal. The valet from the old restaurant was there and is such an awesome guy, good start. Entered the restaurant and the old bar area was gone, replaced with a sterile dining area...sad. The decor was clean and replaced the old windows of the previous restaurant, a definite upgrade but worthy of 13 million dollars? Maybe. But we are here for the food. Our server was excellent!! So friendly and really the biggest plus of the night. We were there for our son's birthday and they treated us great! We had a 2 year old with us and our waiter was again awesome with him and us. The food however was mediocre. Although the selection of entrees was intriguing, the food itself was disappointing. I had the veal parmigiana which was extremely large in size, but lacking in quality. The meat was poor quality with quite a bit of fat that made portions inedible. It was coated in a crust that was crispy but incapable of hiding the poor meat beneath. I was really looking forward to this dish but was left disappointed. The Caesar salad we had before was bland and also not very good. Our 2 year old loved the focaccia bread. Other entrees we had were also mediocre. As it was our son's birthday we ordered several desserts. They didn't come out for like 40 minutes. They eventually arrived with apologies from the restaurant and were comped. A nice gesture and appreciated. This is a new restaurant and perhaps it was a gaffe that won't happen again as they get rolling, but my beef was with the quality of the food. Not that great. With all the hype of the rebirth of this Birmingham institution I was expecting something special. I didn't get that and probably won't return any time soon.

Yelp
This place wants to be something it's not. It wants to be prestigious and amazing but unfortunately misses the mark on everything. Food is fine but not great. The service is poor and slow. They don't serve anything here you can't get better somewhere else in Metro Detroit. They think they are chic and exclusive or something but it's just an ok restaurant that's not worth the experience, unfortunately

Layla A.

Yelp
Some of the best food I've had eating out in a while. I'd say service was a bit slow but still highly recommend and will be going back

Ada L.

Yelp
It was just ok, don't understand all the hype, had to park down the street cause only valet parking at the restaurant itself, too bad the food wasn't as good as the building looked that would have been nice.

Julie S.

Yelp
You must be very specific when making a reservation about what kind of table you want. I placed a reservation before the restaurant was even open for a party of 3 (very small) on a weekday evening to celebrate a family member's birthday. We were seated amongst very noisy, large groups close to a walkway. I couldn't hear my son across the table and lost my voice. Sadly, it put a damper on our evening. I wanted to share this with others so they don't have the same problem. I thought a restaurant of this caliber would be better at understanding guest requests, but I was told by multiple staff members the guest must be specific on the room and table desired.

Dick E.

Yelp
We had lamb chops and a veal Parmesan. We also had a small seafood tower and meatballs for an appetizer. The meatballs were good, not great. The seafood tower was amazing but pricey for very little food we thought. The lamb chops were great as was the veal Parmesan. The service was outstanding. The ambiance is nice as well.

Justin B.

Yelp
Horrific Service. I dont think Ive ever had such unprofessional service from a "high end" steakhouse like this before. Food was hit and miss and very overpriced for questionable quality. Big Rock is a Big failure and I'm angry I even went here.

Yelp
My Intent for this review is to give you an honest and detailed breakdown and not intending to nitpick because when you spend over $500 on dinner, you should feel like it was worth it. First off, the valet is a little confusing. There is no self-parking and the valets suggest you park across the street if you don't want to valet. The signs show the fee is $12 but at no time did anyone actual ask to collect the fee at drop off nor pick up, which seemed odd. This means I don't know if I tipped the Valet $5 and paid the $12, or tipped them $17. It is VERY loud inside so it would seem that none of the $13M spent on remodeling went to acoustics. We were seated in the far back room and probably the fist things I noticed was that the tables were very close together and small and the chairs were extremely poor quality resembling something you would see in a waiting room. After a 3.5 hour dinner, I can confirm that they were neither comfortable nor good quality. On the tables are small battery powered lamps and the lighting is very low. The service was pretty good although a little slow and we experienced a few blips. I ordered a bourbon and asked for a couple cherries, when the drink arrived about 15 minutes later, there we no cherries and the server admitted he forgot to order them, then brought them promptly. Not really a big deal. Shortly after, we ordered a bottle of wine for the table and that took about another 15 mins to arrive. 3 appetizers were ordered, they were the Loaded FOCACCIA , WHIPPED RICOTTA and TORO CRUDO. All the apps were delicious, but I noticed they arrived with 2 servings of crackers and the whipped riccota was listed as coming with grilled sourdough. As it turns out, I was correct and our server returned a few minutes later with the sourdough, which was delicious and would have been a bummer to miss out on. I would highly recommend the CREAMY ARTICHOKE soup. It was rich and had a nice punch of lemon. Oddly, they brought out my soup spoon when they cleared the first empty appetizer plates, then before my soup arrived, they cleared my spoon so when the soup came I had to ask for a spoon and wait. We ordered 4 entrees, RIGATONI BOLOGNESE, LAMB PAPPARDELLE, the BRANZINO and the 10 OZ FILET MIGNON. Rigatoni was just ok. The portion was rather small with very little sauce. As for the Pappardelle the lamb was tasty, but the pasta was under cooked and too firm , not what I would expect from a high-end Italian restaurant . The Branzino was a little dry but acceptable, and the potatoes well prepared. Unfortunately, the 10oz Filet was disappointing. It was significantly over seasoned and oddly, though seemingly cooked to a perfect just under medium as ordered it was very dry. Being listed as a steakhouse, this was the biggest disappointment. The server and manager both offered to make another or provide me with something else as well as take the cost off the bill and were VERY apologetic and attentive to the problem, but as our dinner was running pretty long and everyone else was well into their meals by the time I was able to bring my issue to their attention , I didn't want to make everyone wait longer so I opted to just keep it and accept the offer to take it off the bill. We went with the SORBETTO AND GELATO and the LEMON CAKE for desert although as we had a dairy free guest, we doubled the Blood Orange Sorbetto and opted out of the Gelato. The deserts were fantastic. When the bill came, I was disappointed to see that the cost of the Filet was still present, so I had to wait while they reconciled that as promised. In all it was a decent visit but here are some key takeaways. They have some service glitches and attention to details to work out, but the staff was attentive and apologetic and clearly interested in making sure we were happy. There are various rooms in the restaurant, and some areas are more aesthetically pleasing but the room we were in was for sure underwhelming. In my opinion, it was under lit, the table was too small to comfortably manage a dinner for 4 and the small wicker bottom chairs are maybe just a little better than tragic. The pastas are not great, and I don't know if it's just a timing thing or the fact that they seem to focus on most if not all of them being gluten free. And, is there a charge for the valet or not, it would be nice if it was clear. The old Big Rock Chophouse was a favorite of ours, but the jury is out on the new spot so far. Yelp was glitching up so I was unable to post all my pics, sorry.

Alyah A.

Yelp
Food is not even close to as good as the original Big Rock. I would not call yourself an Italian chophouse if your carbonara isn't authentic, but instead made with a cream sauce and asparagus. The zip sauce tasted nothing like zip sauce and was somehow citrusy? We were sadly disappointed and left desperately missing the original. Now back to looking for a new steakhouse with classic zip sauce as all the greats have now closed.

Yelp
It's beautiful and should be for 13 million to redo a bldg. Wow! The service was way over the top. Our server was as good as it gets. She was so friendly, so attentive, so knowledgeable that an old skeptic like me was impressed. The food was good to great. So if ordering only good, you might say "food was good but not outstanding." If you order the great things your experience would be "outstanding food". Had whipped ricotta, excellent . Eating partner had Ceasar salad which was good but not great. Had the veal chop which was terrific. Mushrooms were terrific, potatoes were terrific. One disappointing item was the pasta. It was good, but not great. I expected great because they make it in house. Sorry to say, not better than dried imported. That's not bad by any means ,just not award winning. The cigar bar cost is high and not justified. For $5000, you get a locker and entrance for a year. The valet is $12 so if you leave a tip, you're paying a lot, but really no other parking available without a long walk. For Detroit area, it's a lot, but I'm used to Miami which can be $20 to $50. Back to food, loaded focaccias great, and the accommodations for gluten free was very high. All, in all, a great experience.

Yelp
This place should be ashamed of itself such a fancy high pretentious establishment with such amateurs execution I had baked clams as an appetizer, thoroughly unimpressive just breadcrumbs very little flavor. One of my guests had the pork chop. It was one lonely, pork chop on a huge white plate without a thing of dawning it not even a piece of lettuce. The executive chef should be embarrassed for setting out a plate that look like that and that kind of an establishment even Leo's Coney Island put a slice of tomato on a plate I had and I use the expression lightly chicken salt, and Boca believe it or not. I got a chicken leg wearing good. God's green art did anybody serve a chicken salt and Boca have a chicken leg one chicken leg with a slice of prosciutto on top and a tasteless sauce The third guest had some roll a teeny with the tomato sauce that if I had had it, I've been an emergency room with gastritis a dark red, pasty looking acidic sauce, just loaded with the oregano

Yelp
Wonderful meal last night at Big Rock. The service was flawless without being suffocating. The food was delicious, though the Italian wedding soup wasn't my husband's favorite. However, he declared the pork chop to be the best he had ever eaten. I had the artichoke soup, delicious, and the fettuccini with clams, very light sauce instead of the usual thick and gummy sauce. Only negative to the entire evening was the parking. Valet appears to be the only option and they charge $12 for that. Otherwise, it's out on the street with a rather long walk. Not inexpensive, but what is these days.

Yelp
I was so looking forward to Big Rock opening again but I was very disappointed. First, the price for Valet parking is now $12! In addition, they no longer have a Happy Hour, which included discounts on drinks and a delicious Happy Hour food menu!! But now, a 6 ounce glass of their house wine is $17 and the appetizer are expensive and very limited. I won't be going back!

Yelp
Terrible experience. Taking time to write this so as to prevent someone else from making the same mistake. Food was very mediocre at best, and I believe it is high time for restauranters and the corporate parents that own them to be accountable for the very poor product being delivered.  I have higher standards for service than most having grown up in NYC and spending the greater part of my childhood eating out as do most New Yorkers. Instead of the obvious growing pains new places endure, I'm afraid the missteps here are entirely self  inflicted. The place it too large for the staff they have on hand. It is their choice to open all the rooms available and operate in this manner with inexperienced and not enough staff at this price point. I went on a Wednesday at 6:30 having made the reservation 3 weeks in advance. I wore a blazer which was not necessary. Many people in shorts and golf shirts... The hostesses were under water and frazzled. The dining room I was seated in off the main bar had a separate bar with a single bartender presumably to service two rooms, one arguably larger than the main bar area. I should have left when my waiter had no pen...23 minutes from being seated until my martini was delivered. Served in a mini martini glass, about 33% smaller than a traditional steakhouse martinis. Passed on the bread service because I believe that should be gratis and rolled up in the price of an entree but that seems to be common practice these days. 12.00 seems excessive. Caesar salad had good croutons which was the only highlight, save for the very fairly price wine list courtesy of Tom Celani. Unfortunately the Cameron Mitchell Ocean prime side was disastrous. I ordered two entrees, a bone in rib chop with zip sauce and porcini butter sauce on the side, as well as the veal chop parmesan. The steak was ok, but for 115 + 11 for two tiny ramekins of sauce it should be memorable. Sadly I've had better ribeyes at Texas Roadhouse for a fraction of the cost. The veal chop parmesan was a bigger disappointment. I asked the waiter if it was pounded thin and was told that it was indeed so.  Unfortunately this was not the case. Given that he had no pen, I should have known better...The veal was thick, far from tender, and essentially a poor quality veal chop rolled in panko. The fresh mozzarella was tasty but there wasn't nearly enough...To round it out crispy potatoes were not crisp, parmesan potatoes cold (essentially weak au gratin), ok spaghetti squash, ok sword fish, two glasses of wine. 470 for two, though three entrees, 3 sides, one app, 2 cocktails, 2 wines + an undeserved 22% tip. Not to mention the agita I experienced at the table as many patrons (older  clearly there for nostalgia purposes with memories of the old Big Rock) complained about the upcharge for bread. This same clientele clogged the valet area complaining they were unaware it was 12 to park. In short too many good Italian restaurants and steakhouses in the area that care about customer experience and do not gouge at every turn to recoup a13mm renovation...

Yelp
The Fritto Misto was salty and below average the whipped ricotta was fantastic. The fettuccine with clams was delicious and the Lamb pappardelle was good but salty for my taste. None of the food left me craving more!! Service was great but very busy for a grand opening! Ambiance was very loud and crowded with employees but it was opening night. The Building is very cool.

Yelp
Started off really bad. 3 of us get there at 830 on a Thursday night. The host said he is not taking anymore walk ins, but yet plenty of empty tables outdoors. He said we can go in and get a drink at the bar. Ran into Paris(bartender) and Angela(server), whom I've known for a few years from previous restaurants. Both are amazing and very accommodating by getting us a table outside. I don't understand the mentality of turning down a table, but a bad look to start off. We got some drinks and the pours were very good. The arancini was also very good. We went back on Saturday night with my wife and another couple. Our reservations were for 830 and we didn't get seated til 9:15. Yes the place was packed this time, but the wait was ridiculous. The raw oysters were just good, chicken parmesan was also just good. I believe in "you get what you pay for", and so far I can't say that. I will still give it a couple more shots and give them the benefit of the doubt. I would really have given it 3 stars if it wasn't for Paris and Angela. Amazing job on the renovation! Great ambience!

Yelp
The place has good ambiance and we enjoyed being there. The service was perfect with Anthony taking great care of us. He was there when needed and the food service cadence was right on target with a small break between courses. We started with a shrimp cocktail which was very good and then moved onto Caesar salad, also good. For the main, I had veal parm and my wife had swordfish. The veal parm was a veal chop pounded, breaded and fried, then topped with marinara and some fresh mozzarella and a small side of greens. I ordered a side of spaghetti with red sauce because everything is a la carte. You'd think a veal chop would make the ultimate veal parm, but not so much. It lacked any real flavor and the side of pasta was not fresh made. Spaghetti was very soft and it felt like it was put together and held in a steam table for a couple hours. Wife said she would not order the swordfish again so she obviously was not impressed. This place is pricey and that makes expectations high. In my opinion it does not live up to fine dining standards. At around $150 a head I can't recommend it.
