BIGFAN

"Colourful décor, bright lights and a loud and lively atmosphere: Big Fan is Big Fun, so start with a cocktail, tick plenty of dishes on the list on your table, tuck in and enjoy. Small plates take their influences from China and Taiwan; expect dumplings, bao buns, Xiao Chi – and some tasty desserts too." - Michelin Inspector

The 38 Essential Dublin Restaurants

"A gloriously fun interior with columns of neon light, a hammered gold bar, and a blazing-red ceiling with two black fans indicates what to expect in Robert Hayes and Alex Zhang’s Chinese-inspired restaurant. Creativity, energy, and vibrant flavors are lined up on a tick-the-box menu, which includes lobster and wagyu beef tucked into a squid ink bao, cheeseburger dumplings, corn ribs, and feather blade steak with fermented bean and Urfa pepper. Sip clever cocktails, such as She Sells Sichuan, made with gin, Aperol, lychee, hibiscus, and Sichuan pepper." - Corinna Hardgrave

Went here yesterday for the first time for lunch around 2pm. I had high expectations as BIGFAN has been listed on Michelin Guides, and guess what? they absolutely deserved it :) Very tasty food, excellent service, good atmosphere, and beautiful presentation. As the waiter suggested to order 5-7 plates for 2 people, we've ordered: - BIGFAN Bao (Dong Po style Pork Bao) - Wu Ya Bao (18hr braised beef - spicy) - Pork Snowflake (Classic pork & chive jiaozi) - Xiao Long Bao (Pork soup dumplings) - Rare Irish Featherblade Steak (Fermented bean sauce) - Sweet & Sourdough Prawn Toast - She's Sweet (Taiwanese fried chicken with honey soy garlic butter sauce) - Dessert: Coconut & Mango Parfait All of the dishes were very tasty, tasted fresh, and presented very well. Our favourites are the Pork Snowflake, Rare Irish Featherblade Steak, and Xiao Long Bao❤️ Very tasty, all were very well seasoned, perfectly cooked, and excellent presentation (and temperature!). We went here to celebrate our new jobs, and it was an excellent place to celebrate. We will definitely come back here :)

Soooo good!!! We did the tasting menu with a group of six and every item that came out was delicious!! We had such a great experience here, thank you! And our waiter and servers were really helpful, too!

Absolutely incredible food! Every dish we sampled was outstanding. The restaurant is bustling and can get a bit noisy, and the high chairs aren’t the most comfortable, but the fantastic flavors more than make up for it.

I was not expecting to eat Chinese food in Ireland, being half Chinese and coming from a US state with plenty of delicious authentic Asian cuisine; however, this was one of the best rated restaurants in the area so we decided to check it out. I’m so glad we did because it was just what we needed after a long exhaustive day. It was easy in every way and the food came out fast. The food was delicious and a nicely done, unique, Irish-Chinese fusion, the place was good vibes, our waiter (Tassio) was pleasant and professional, and the price was reasonable. The enoki mushrooms were our favorite and the lamb was our least favorite, but everything else was good too. I’d gladly recommend this place to visitors.

Honestly, it has quite negatively surprised me you are unable to order any hot drink at this place?!? Not even a cup of peppermint tea? In Asian style restaurant… We ordered plenty of dishes to share and frankly the beef - both the steak and tne intestines/tongue etc were tasteless in our opinion. Steamed fish and mushrooms were ok yet nothing stunning to come back. The service…. The ladies bringing the dishes to our table never picked the empties. Table for 2 is quite small so we had to ask them several times to take away the empty plates. And lastly, as others mentioned in their reviews, you are prompted to leave tip through the extra machine, I find this approach rather rude and pushy… All male servers were attentive - in a normal way, not extra mile yet the ladies delivering the food were probably blind to take the empty dishes away…. Will not repeat.

Really good asian restaurant with a twist where you can select a few meals to share. We took 7 plates and all were amazing. The staff was very friendly and gave us good advice on what to pick.

Multiple times dined here now. First time was incredible, recommended to everyone to try but it doesn’t deliver the hype as much as before anymore. Highlights were: Top of all, pork snowflake. Last time the flake was not so crispy but it made up for it this time. The rest of them were good but not so much as before. Taiwanese chickens were better in Fidelity personally. Prawn toast was great. Pineapple salsa was great addition. Food used to be amazing but some were disappointing. Service-wise, it could be improved. I understand that they make all customers to be close together for quicker serving the dishes and because of other bookings later but 3 tables were too close to each other and we all felt awkward, not comfortable to chat because you could hear them breathing. Majority of tables were empty so I don’t really know why. We went in as they opened the door at 2pm on the weekend. We were the first one sitting inside. After a few mins later, someone else sat right next to us when restaurant is not full at all. We would have requested to sit somewhere else but it felt more awkward since we were already sitting and someone else sat down after us. Also, they could hear us since tables are really close each other. Overall, it was still good food but doesn’t deliver as much phenomenal experience as before.

The duck wings were 11/10. Looks like I have found a new regular. Everything was absolutely delicious. One of the best spots in Dublin hands down.
