The Best Restaurants Near Theaters in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Chef Eason Barksdale’s swapped out the more formal cuisine he created at Mondo and Bayona for Bijou’s fun, tapas-style global menu. The insanely good gruyere gougers studded with bacon are reason enough to dine here. Adding in the Tom Yum fried chicken with makrut lime, ginger, lemongrass, and Thai “ranch” seals the deal." - Beth D’Addono

Where to Drink the Best Martinis in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"It seems fitting to start an evening at this fun French Quarter hotspot with a Dirty Dirty, a happy hour martini made with your choice of Ketel one or Grey Goose, olive brine, dry vermouth, and blue cheese olives for sustenance. Need to keep the party and martini theme going? Complete the meal with the espresso martini, because she’s not a regular espresso martini, she’s a cool one — made with Grey Goose or Ketel One, creme de cacao, demerara syrup, cold brew concentrate, and ground chocolate covered espresso beans for garnish." - Adriana Lopez

Very good served in this restaurant. Meals are flavourful and well balanced. Staff is nice and welcoming. There is a nice patio offering outdoor seatings. Suitable for groups. Booking recommended.

Google
A hidden gem in the French Quarter. All the plates were shareable and delicious. The pasta dish is a must try. We will for sure be back. And our bartender was great! I recommend sitting at the bar in the front.

Google
Great happy hour deal! Elegant and classy place. The atmosphere was clean and beautiful with the front of the bar and the back bar. Got the devil eggs, burger and couple of cocktails (cb&t, cosmo).

Google
One of my best birthday dinners ever- fine-dining quality staff and food but options for $12 burger and $9 cocktails during happy hour- lots of food for the price and it was beyond delicious- can’t recommend this enough- parking across the street on Rampart

Google
The team here is so nice! Great vibes and food! We really enjoyed our dinner here. The deserts were to die for... The pot de creme especially!

Google
Love love LOVE Bijou!! The atmosphere, the cocktails, the food.. everything is spot on. The tuna tartare is to die for as well as so many other items on the menu… I’ve tried them all! Definitely check out Bijou if you are a local or if you’re from out of town!

Google
The drinks are great. The food is great. The service is great. They have a great happy hour menu. The 4 course meal looks great but my wife and shared several plates. I highly recommend the following items. You would think fried chicken tenders would be underwhelming but the Tom Yum fried chicken is great! The tuna tartare is amazing. The Moroccan braised lamb shoulder is to die for. The hanger steak is Devine.

Yelp
OBSESSED- is an understatement. From the aesthetics to the staff/ service & food, this place is incredible. & might I add- shockingly affordable! We had espresso martinis and old fashions. We ate the Tom yum chicken, wagyu steak, and smash burger. All phenomenal! Doug was our server and he was just an absolute hoot! Loved his stories and recommendations. Absolutely LOVE Doug! This man is a treasure! Thank you so much Bijou for the exceptional hospitality. We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
So my girlfriends and I dined at Bijou just recently and let me tell you, the atmosphere was so lively.

Yelp
JUST WOW. We ordered the Atlantic King Salmon for dinner with the caviar devilled eggs and we were so happy with our choices! The salmon was grilled to perfection and the seasoning was out of this world! I loved the asian fusion flavours with the Gochujang sauce and kimchi on top. The salmon was crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside. My compliments to the chef! The devilled eggs were a popular choice at the restaurant so we ordered it as well but it was underwhelming compared to the salmon. I would still recommend it as an appetizer if you wanted just a little bit more food with your entree. We also ordered 2 drinks - the pimms cup cucumber drink and moscow mule and both were prepared nicely and not overly strong. The location is near the French Quarter of NOLA and conveniently located down the street from our hotel (French Quarter Courtyard Hotel) so it was walkable for us. Overall, we were amazed by the atmosphere and food of this French fusion restaurant. Highly recommended if you are near the French Quarter of NOLA!

Yelp
II can't tell you enough how much j'adore Bijou. My first review still stands but I needed to report back on the incredible food. Although the menu doesn't appear to have anything vegan on it, there's a stir fry that is off-menu. Normally that wouldn't get me interested in returning but the waitress last time had told me that it's really good. And last time the humble curried cauliflower blew my mind so this time around, I went for that stir fry. Our same lovely waitress served us, yet again offered perfection in service and hospitality. On that note, from host to servers to chef/cooks in the kitchen, this is a tight operation. They are all at the top of their game in a city that prides itself on service (but doesn't always deliver thanks to the occasional influx of hipsters but I digress). I want to nominate this entire staff for the Servies (Yelp's service awards). And that waitress was not lying either. The best stir fry that I've ever had (that wasn't in a Szechuan restaurant). It doesn't contain tofu and normally that would bum me out but the flavors going on here are exquisite and the cut of the vegetables blended so well with the chewy brown rice. I didn't even need to add salt. Bijou is now added to my regular rotation of French Quarter restaurants, of which there aren't many, honestly. I'm grateful that they are here on lower N Rampart close to my beloved Effervescence.

Yelp
Bijou is a true delight. It's much larger than it looks when stepping inside the narrow shutters. It's a trendy hipster small plate joint. The truffle deviled eggs which aren't on the regular menu are a true elevation of the deviled egg experience with the roe on top. The 3 to a plate may not be enough. Fried goat cheese balls are a treat. Also 3 to a serving but they are so rich with the tomato jam, it just might be enough if you're not sharing. Tuna tartare a little too much yuzu for my personal preference. I prefer to enjoy the freshness and delicacy of the fish. The chips that come with it are actually large enough to scoop up a big bite. Large enough to be an appetizer or entree for 1 Smash burger can you say running down your arm juicy goodness large enough not to share

Yelp
All the food is bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. I had the Indian cauliflower and the Tom Yum chicken, which were both superb, and the lemon olive oil cake was a really nice end to the dinner. I could not finish everything, so I was very happy to bring it back in a box You can watch the chefs in the kitchen, preparing everything with such detail and the service was also very good. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I'm tardy on my Coolinary review but better late than never. This was my first of my stretch of Coolinary cuisine (I might have done a dinner every single weekend in august...allegedly). I must say that I started with a bang because Bijou did not disappointment. I'd only ever been for drinks before so I'm glad I know that they know what they're doing food-wise as well. The shishito pepper salad was a delightful start- tasty dressing and the sweet pops of corn. The curried cauliflower was delicious as well. The lemon olive oil cake was good but that espresso pot au creme was a freaking delight. The espresso flavor was strong and it wasn't overly sweet and was perfectly smooth. My star of the show was the Moroccan braised lamb shoulder. Tender, flavorful, delicious. I could eat that every day. I wanted to lick my plate but I decided to have some decorum. I can't wait to go back and get it again. The service was great and the ambiance was as well! Love the decor.

Yelp
Been here for drinks but finally made it to dine-in. I'll say they give off a bit of an attitude as you walk in the door and this has been my experience each time. As to say we are above the typical establishment on Rampart. Service is hit or miss especially at the bar. There have been times we have gone to the bar for wine and never been acknowledged and left. The dinner service was a little discombobulated and the waiter wasn't very confident in what came in dishes when it came to vegetarian options recommending their pasta dish which upon closer inspection was certainly NOT vegetarian. We did a lot of small plates which were a bit hit or miss but creatively thought out. I'll be back again but it's more out of convenience to where I live than the food or service being offered.

Yelp
well for my last night in NOLA my meal went out with a MEH. Each dish was good but not really a cohesive menu. I started with the shrimp toast. It was delicious but a little hard and the toast was over cooked. My second dish the lamb great taste but did not really go with the appetiser. Took the lemon tarts to go and they were delicious. Service was lack lustre and never got offered a second drink. I asked for a delay on my main course so was there for 2 hours, I was expecting at least a second drink!

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE ESPECIALLY IF LOCAL! Four of us arrived for a nice dinner and they threw almost $17 of extra bullshit charges on our bill. Over $10 for a credit card service fee (two of us didn't even pay with credit cards) and an extra $6 fee because my friend asked for a brandy soaked cherry in her old fashioned which is supposed to be in the cocktail in the first place. The restaurant is claiming the credit card machine automatically adds to almost $11 in extra cc charges but we hadn't even paid the bill yet!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!+

Yelp
Bijou lives up to it's name, French for jewel. We got there early as most oldies do. Greeted by the nicest staff; shout out to Coco for being so gracious! The atmosphere is lively and so much fun. I had the lamb shoulder which was possibly the best meal I've ever had. My partner had the squid ink pasta, he loved it and wolfed it down. The curated drinks were great, I had the cucumber vodka, so refreshing in this heat blast. If you haven't been you are missing out on a great experience.

Yelp
Great drinks - Black Manhattan and Cuban (can't remember full name.) The menu was a little limited for me, but what we had was good. The Goat Cheese appetizer was excellent. The Fried Chicken and Pork Cheeks were both very good. Nice atmosphere - the space was a little crowded but that's typical for New Orleans. Attentive service.

Yelp
A gorgeous old French Quarter building has been given a new life via a comprehensive renovation that maintains historic charm and character while simultaneously bringing the space into the future. The team did a phenomenal job updating and reinvigorating this unique gem. The food here - from a kitchen helmed by Chef Eason Barksdale (previously of John Besh's August) - is superb. The dishes are creative and flavorful, presented in an unfussy way, and cooked perfectly. The drinks are great, and overall I find there is good value - it is not the most expensive restaurant by any means but I always leave satisfied and happy. Kudos to David, Patrick, and the whole team behind this wonderful project!!
google avatar

Cody N.

Yelp
I have eaten here twice and it provides everything you need in a cozy French Quarter restaurant. It's classy in decor, drinks are swell, and Southern food is upscale with quality. A nice courtyard with live jazz is plus.
google avatar

Karoun B.

Yelp
Loved our experience here. The food was top notch and very creative. They were short staffed on Jazzfest weekend, and their service staff were still super friendly and gave excellent service. I'm not a huge fried chicken fan, but I could not stop eating the Tom Yum Fried Chicken- a must try. Other must haves included the Curried Cauliflower and the goat cheese appetizer. They have a high-quality cheese monger and it shows. They restaurant itself is nice and cozy, with some great outdoor seating.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner during coolinary, and I'll definitely be coming back to for dinner, drinks, and/or happy hour ($9 craft cocktails and a few food options s on M,W, Th, F)! The menu has something for everyone, and every dish has a fun, different flavor profile. The deviled Louisiana blue crab, tuna tartare, pan-seared salmon, and squid ink pasta all had fun, different ingredients. For dessert, the lemon yuzu tart and cafe au lait pot au creme were also incredibly flavorful without being overwhelmingly sweet. You could order one or all the items on the menu and be happy. Their drink menu was also well-curated with a good price range of wines, classic and creative cocktails, and a few beers. The space is fun and sleek and it was really thought out, with two main indoor rooms- the front bar that's more for drinks and mingling and then the dining room another bar further back. They also have courtyard with seating off the dining room, the original brick walls and string lights are beautiful from inside through the floor to ceiling windows. The service was great, everyone was very helpful and friendly. With several tables of bachelorette parties and loud music, it was pretty loud. This wasn't totally unexpected for a Saturday night in the French quarter, guess. Parking was horrible, it took 20 minutes to circle the block until finding a spot that opened up.

Yelp
We had this restaurant highly recommended so we gave it a try! The restaurant was easy to find and access with street parking. The restaurant was very nicely decorated. During our visit however it got rather warm-maybe faulty AC. We started with drinks -they were average at best. The tuna appetizer was fine but had some unusual flavors. I wasn't a big fan. I decided on the slider burger. I like it medium rare but sadly came medium. It was a good sized burger but a distinct flavor which reminded me of gas broilers-natural gas smell and taste. Other than that it was average but much better than most. My biggest disappointment was temperature in the building and lack of variety of entrees to chose from. The service was adequate but not the best either. I wouldn't not recommend this cute little restaurant but I'm not running back soon.
google avatar

Kelly H.

Yelp
Wow! Simply, wow. My initial reservation request was unfortunately not available but the Bijou staff gave me two other options to choose from. We were coming into town for a bachelorette party and I wanted to choose a special place to celebrate, Bijou exceeded those expectations. We were first greeted by Corey, what a freaking cutie. We arrived a little early so he quickly sat us in the patio area and took our drink orders. After a few minutes he brought us to our table. Here is where we met our amazing server, Brice. Brice and the rest of the Bijou staff made our dinner extra special. Overall-- Amazon service, DELICIOUS FOOD, great drinks. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Food - 5 stars. Service - 5 stars. Ambience - 5 stars. Hands down one of the best meals I've had in NOLA. Fabulous. Simply fabulous. Mouth is still a symphony of flavors. I feel spoiled. THANK YOU!
google avatar

Yelp
I really enjoyed visiting Bijou with a bunch of colleagues last week. They accommodated our last minute reservation, and the experience was really a wonderful one. The food was excellent. The steak, shrimp rolls, and artichokes were some of our favorites. I also really loved the cocktails- specifically the best espresso martini I've ever had. Special thanks to Jordan who took great care of us! The service was really excellent from the entire team. I love the space, and the fact that it's a bit more casual but still super high quality. I'll definitely return.
google avatar

Greg M.

Yelp
Bijou is chic little tapas bar on lower Rampart. Our party of six was promptly greeted by the super friendly host. We took a seat in the bar while waiting a few minutes for our table. The atmosphere is classy, but casual. Beautiful lighting and hip artwork. Great craft cocktails, beer and wine, but the star of the show is the tapas. We tried several. Highlights were the Tom yum chicken, squid ink spaghetti, burger and amazing fries that will leave you wanting to return soon! Great service, too! I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Laurie N.

Yelp
Approachable Classy/Intimate and friendly rolled up into one amazing experience! I happened upon Bijou by being directionally challenged & overheated as I adventured into the city after a work conference. I found a neighborhood gem & will be back with my foodie friends next visit! The roasted beet & carrot salad paired with a South African Sauvignon Blanc hit the spot! I sat at the bar by myself but was not alone. I felt right at home & was treated with excellent service. I also had the tuna tartare which chef prepared and served to me himself since I requested sans jalapeño. The ambience is beautiful! I had so much fun and found what I was looking for without a plan. And that is the most memorable part- like it was meant to be! Bijou means 'jewel' in English & that is what I found on a Thursday evening on the edge of the Quarter. Please go try it!
google avatar

L. H.

Yelp
The food is great, I also love the ambience. I had the Tuna Tartare and it was one of the best I've had so far. The people I was with had the Tom Yum Chicken, and the other person had The Bijou Burger. They loved it. The cocktails were on-point, the Boulevardier is what I had, the others had Spicy Daq and a Crown & soda. We'll definitely be back soon!
google avatar

Mary H.

Yelp
It is a really attractive place with cool staff and extra friendly. My favorite thing so far is tuna tartar. I live a block away. I'm going to go get two of them later this afternoon. Go here.

Yelp
My friend and I were in town for a conference and he found this place on Yelp. We peeked at the menu and it seemed original (we were very tired of the typical NOLA Cajun/Creole scene) so we decided to give it a try. It's a bit out of the way of the French Quarter, which is fine. The outside is very unassuming. But the minute you step inside you are transported into this gorgeous, glamorous, art deco like interior. They were booked solid so we took a seat in the bar area. Our server was extremely attentive, friendly, personable. It's a young crowd, the music is loud, and it's not stuffy at all. But let me get to the good part. The food, the cocktails, EVERYTHING, was sublime. I cannot gush enough about how amazing everything was. We ordered tuna tartare, fried goat cheese, the tom yum fried chicken, and the hangar steak. My favorites were the goat cheese and fried chicken. The fried chicken was seriously the best fried chicken I have ever had. The flavor profile was so intense, the chicken itself very delicate (for being fried), drizzled with a very delicate buttermilk dressing and sprinkled with parsley and mint. Who would have thought to put mint on fried chicken? Not I. But it was incredible. For dessert we split the cafe au lait mousse and for me an espresso martini, which was probably the best espresso martini I have ever had. Not bitter, very light, just the right amount of sweet. *Chefs kiss*. Do yourself a HUGE favor and go here if you are in New Orleans. I am definitely coming back the next time I am in town.

Yelp
Been in NOLA for four nights and this is what he best meal I've had, bar none. Tom Yum Fried Chicken, Curried Cauliflower, and Hanger Steak. Mouthed watering. My eyes teared up. I would come back over and over again! Cocktails were fantastic!

Yelp
Visiting a friend in New Orleans and got a recommendation from a friend of hers for Bijou, so we were expecting a good meal. But our expectations were blown out of the water by the delicious food and the amazing staff. Our primary server, Alo, was knowledgeable, attentive, and very personable. The rest of the staff were also great, checking in on us without being at all obtrusive. We felt so comfortable, like we were having a meal with people we knew. And the food was fantastic -- Delicata Squash Salad, Tom Yum Fried Chicken, Curried Cauliflower, Mussels, and more. I/we highly recommend Bijou.

Yelp
Just come y'all! Love the space although I prefer the back bar area to the front. Great outdoor space. Good selection of innovative drinks....the Rose Nyland is my favorite. Wine choices looked good too although my date and didn't drink these. One strange note: no iced tea. Food is really well done, small bite plates that still fill you up when shared. Complex flavors on fried chicken. Delicious goat cheese. Deviled crab is tasty. Desert is amazing. Really nice tart w 3 pieces for sharing. I love it!

Yelp
I haven't tried it yet I live about 1 hours drive away I plan on going very soon. The food on the menu looks wonderful I can't wait to go

Yelp
We visited N.O. for a girls trip. While walking around during the day, we passed Bijou and I immediately told myself, "THIS is where we need to have dinner tonight". Called @ 6pm & made an 830 reservation for 11ppl...When we arrived we immediately received 5star service! Quickly escorted to our table & our waiter took drink orders quickly. Service was prompt & the food *mwah* chef's kiss (that dill sauce ) The chef, she was truly a gem, well all loved our food. The staff was beyond hospitable & the playlist was everything!! We ended up dancing in the bar area with the staff. The decor is very chic and modern- great for photos. Our whole night @ Bijou was a "mood". If you're ever in NewOrleans, do urself a favor & visit this hidden gem.

Yelp
Wonderful! Wonderful food, service, and ambiance! Highly recommend. Our waiter Coco was the cherry on top to a fantastic dining experience.

Yelp
Bijou was recommended to us because of their specialty drinks and they did not disappoint! The food was also delicious and we just happened to be their during happy hour, which was an added bonus! The restaurant had an awesome ambiance, as well. I would highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Struggled with how to rate this restaurant on this visit. Food was good, but experience was anything but good. As a local resident it takes a great deal of courage (and coin) to come into the city and dine these days. Having dined here once before with friends that live in the Quarter we decided to make the trek from uptown and brave the lack of parking on a festival weekend. We arrived at about 6:30 pm for our reservation and were taken to a table in the rear dining area of the restaurant. At this time there was a large table set for a party of 10-12. There were also several empty two tops and an empty 4 top. UNFORTUNATELY we were sat at the two top in the corner adjacent to a makeshift server station, and within 2-3 feet of an OPEN TRASH can. For good measure there were about 6 wine buckets stacked up, and a random chair tossed in that apparently needed a place to be stored. Our server was polite while delivering some water, and then all but forgot us as the 12 top, with guests who were obviously known to the hostess, loudly stampeded in like they owned the place. Somehow these 12 got drink orders in before us. We literally sat there for 10-15 minutes until the hostess noticed we were still sitting at a table with water only. A lovely 10 -15 minutes of staring at a disheveled server's station, and an open trash can. Meanwhile, the multiple servers rushing in and out of this corner, which also contains a makeshift server's terminal, were attending to their guests. While our server just stood there with his back to us, obviously "in the weeds" over the large table, shuttling 2 DRINKS at a time to the large table. At some point the hostess noticed that after 15-20 minutes we were sitting with water service only and no order taken. Even after she approached the waiter this continued a while longer. Understand there are plenty of Poor Boy joints in this town with great food and ugly "corners". This is not that kind of place. The owners must have poured a fortune into this conversion. This restaurant is meant to be understated and elegant. Sad that their effort was wasted in this case. The Cocktails and food were good/excellent (WARNING the burger is VERY SALTY), but it really didn't matter, the total lack of thought and attention given to us by the staff pretty much ruined the experience. Though I have to say that 12 top table of guests sure did seem to enjoy their meal/experience. The disparity on display only adding insult to injury.

Mota N.

Yelp
Considering how many places there are in New Orleans, this is a disappointment. The menu tends to offer very off beat foods but it just does not translate into much that is tasty. The decor and seating is uninspired and the kitchen is slow to produce food choosing to send one entree at a time Give this place a hard pass
google avatar

Megan T.

Yelp
I went to Bijou for the first time about a week or so after it opened, followed my many times after that. From the inviting faces, to the chic and clean atmosphere.. Bijou is all around pleasant and delicious, "an arsenal of international Fare. The tuna tartare is the best in the city, or maybe even the best I've ever had. The fish is so fresh, the avocados are always perfectly ripe, and the chili oil is flavorful with a kick. The cocktails are consistent with great presentation and the service is outstanding. If you want your date night to feel very low key and inviting with a consistent menu... give this place a go. I promise you won't be disappointed
google avatar

Josh D.

Yelp
We took a chance on this new restaurant and boy did it not disappoint! Our waiter, Alexe (please excuse the spelling), was super friendly and welcoming. He walked us through all the best dishes and made the experience really special. He even gave us other great recommendations for the rest of our stay here. As far as the dishes, we ordered the roasted delicata squash salad, the fried artichokes, Tom yum fried chicken and curried cauliflower. And then the cafe au lait pot de creme for dessert. My favorites were the salad and the cauliflower, but all dishes were certainly enjoyable. The dessert is a must get - subtle coffee taste but super creamy, like a coffee version of creme brûlée without the caramelized top. Definitely worth giving a shot when you're in New Orleans, especially since the staff was so friendly and the food was so tasty.

Jonah P.

Yelp
You can't get a bad dish here. The chef is incredibly nice and came out and asked us how we liked one of his new dishes and genuinely cared. All the staff is very kind and helpful and will take care of any and everything you guys need. The restaurant also has a cool comfortable ambiance to it that gives off smaller contemporary vibes. Bathrooms are also very nice and clean. We will be coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
Great small portioned meal. Perfect for 'after' cocktailing when you don't want a big meal. Curried Cauliflower is a must order. Very nice physical plant and out door dining in the patio.

Yelp
This was a great find. Wonderful cocktails and fabulous food in a classy atmosphere. The staff was amazing!!

Zachary W.

Yelp
I've been several times and usually enjoyed it. I won't be going back, though, after the drunk (off-duty) chef/GM caused a huge drunken scene at our table. He barked at us to stand up (when we had no idea who he was), told my friend to shut the F up when he asked if the host had ok'd the table being picked up and moved before grabbing him by the face and calling him cute, told our waiter to fuck off (who kept profusely apologizing to us) and called a woman with us an asshole. None of us knew who this guy was! At first we thought he was just a drunk guest, but we later found out he was indeed the chef/Gm who happened to be over drinking at the restaurant bar. Needless to say, we got up and walked out before ordering. I've never seen anything like it.

Yelp
Delicious food! I went for COOLinary in August and their menu was wonderful! The staff is very friendly and you can tell a lot of thought was put into the vibe and decor. Excellent experience overall!

The drinks were quite good and fresh. The deviled eggs were too salty. And I ordered the lamb on the waiter's recommendation and it was definitely over cooked. It's a great space and location especially if going to a show. My companion had a hamburger which was fine. Nothing special. Probably not worth the price for the food. The service was good.

Yelp
Great food, small plates so sharing is the way to go. Group of 7 loved everything we tried. Service was spot on. Ambiance is modern but not cold.

Yelp
I've been here a few times food has always been good staff is always friendly. This time we ordered a tuna tat tar and the squid ink pasta. The tar tar was 90% cucumber. I wanted to send it back but my friend had already eaten half of it. Our pasta was $26.00 it was an appetizer potion about 2 ounces of spaghetti and 4 small shrimp. This was a tasty dish I have had it before but the last time the portion was entree size. This was considerably way less than before about 75% less. We had 2 drinks the bill came to $66.00 plus tip. This is when I feel as a customer that I have been duped, price gouged, taken advantage of. I really like the atmosphere. I hate that my experience was not great. Hope you have better luck.

Yelp
The good - cool atmosphere and vibe, with beautiful courtyard. Friendly waitstaff (but not very attentive) The bad - the food was average at best (squid ink pasta was dry, the burger was very salty, the cauliflower was flavorful but a little mushy, the fried chicken was fine, roasted artichoke was OK). The ugly - nothing ugly per se. Just hard to get excited about the food or service
