NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"From the Moonflower team, Binx is a wine bar in the West Village with a doodle of an evil-looking cat doodle for a profile picture. Behind-the-scenes videos of a concrete pouring party promise a small plates spot that’s high on quirkiness." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

The NYC Bar Hit List: Great New Bars In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Bar Pisellino still has a stranglehold on casual spritzing in the West Village. But if you’re looking for a glass of natural wine, the current “it” spot is Binx. The new bar from the team behind Moonflower has pastel murals that border on psychedelia and plenty of interesting low-intervention wine options. Bring a few friends, drink some chenin blanc, and split the coarsely chopped tuna tartare served with a pile of fries." - bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah, andrew ryce

The 20 Best Bars In The West Village - New York - The Infatuation

"The West Village has a bottomless market for cute places to drink natural wine. Binx is one of the newest, and also the cutest, featuring pastel murals, fuzzy bar stools, and a disco ball. Glasses range from around $16 to $20, with plenty of French and Italian options, in addition to a few wild cards like a skin-contact gewürztraminer from the Finger Lakes. Round out your order with some tuna tartare served with a big pile of fries." - bryan kim, neha talreja, carina finn koeppicus

At Binx, pair your grenache with fries and a disco ball - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"The best natural wine bars are a little goofy. They have stubby glassware, gaudy decor, ‘90s color palettes, and names that shout “Please don’t take me seriously.” Binx, from the Moonflower team, checks every box on that list—but silly as it seems, it is a serious place. It’s seriously great for drinks with friends in the West Village, for example, and it has an interesting low-intervention wine list in addition to small plates that aren’t just for show. Make a reservation to guarantee yourself a seat in the compact room lined with pastel murals, and pair your biodynamic Sicilian white with a heap of tuna tartare accompanied by an equally large pile of fries. photo credit: Erik Bernstein photo credit: Erik Bernstein photo credit: Erik Bernstein Pause Unmute" - Bryan Kim

Had an unfortunately dehumanizing experience with a blonde Caucasian hostess who was dismissive and rude and exhibited not only a couple micro aggressions but was apparently colorblind to POC or at least was profiling our party because our treatment vs everyone else’s was starkly different. Our group of 3 came for drinks at opening and inquired about availability to which she didn’t even bother asking if we’d want to sit inside or even by the bar lmao like bro it’s 85°F out (we came for the whole experience, not to sit outside by the bush sans vibes and pay $18+ for drinks—mind you, there was only a party of 2 and no one else inside) but she directed us to take a seat outside. Hospitality was non-existent, the other guy who helped us didn’t say anything after we had greeted him and thanked him for pouring water for the table. We were then taken care of by a nice server who said indoor seating was def available. So as soon as we stepped back inside, the hostess immediately batted her eyes and asked us 3 to move to a smaller 2-person table by the corner which was an extremely tight fit (and again, not a packed house inside—reservations exist but no one was pulling up. I worked in the service industry so could empathize and give grace to the staff esp if it was a madhouse inside). She then reiterated that we had 90mins. Bro, we left within 45mins and the table that seated 4 was still empty. As soon as we left, she had let a party of two white ppl (originally seated outside) sit at the table of 4. Would’ve stayed for another round of drinks since our 90mins hadn’t been up yet but vibes were not it. Still racked a $100 bill though. To preface, I’ve been to Moonflower, their sister bar many times and enjoyed my experience so was excited to try this place out but bummed to have left with an unpleasant experience.

Such a fun and lively new spot! You feel transported when stepping inside with the whimsical decor. Loved the cucumber salad, fried chicken and crudo! Orange wine and cocktails are refreshing. Bathroom is adorable. Friendly staff and great atmosphere overall!

Such a gorgeous wee bar! Got a table outside and had the most delicious food and drinks. Loved the spicy margs, recommend the fried chicken and spicy cucumber highly! We had the best service too.

Decided to head to a wine bar on a whim. There weren't reservations available online but the restaurant stated walk ins were welcome. Whelp, I walked in and there were seats available! The scallop crudo was more fishy than buttery (I'm thinking a fresh omakase scallop but this was NOT it). The mains did not seem particularly innovative (had the pasta and the fish - it was alright. Flavors weren't stunning but it was basic and edible). It's a small kitchen and it's a WINE BAR girl - you're not here for the food! Split a bottle of Riesling after having one of the reds ... then became hungrier and ordered the fried chicken which DID hit. And the bread was also *chefs kiss* - perhaps it's the wine talking? But we are at a wine bar and the wine is stellar. There's such a great variety and the vibes of the venue are fun and vibrant. Friends of the staff would pop in, have a chat, taste a swirl of wine, and be off on their merry way. I'd return - for wine, chicken, and conversation :)

Perfection. As always with a restaurant run by Rowan and Rebecca. The vibe, the food, the people…do not sleep on this new spot in the heart of west village. The kimchi fried chicken is a fan favorite (a staple on their jersey city, Frankie, menu) but everything new we tried was flawless. Get there before it’s impossible to get a reservation.

Google
Binx, from the genius behind Moonflower is NYC’s newest location for amazing natural wines and delicious bites. We have been dreaming about their chicken in red curry sauce, their fried chicken and gem lettuce and their tuna tar tar with french fries. Fresh homemade pastas hit hard and the natural wines have great by the glass options. Truly a 5 ⭐️ for me. The atmosphere is artistic and fun. Many local artists contributed to the decor. Great for a double date. We loved that the kitchen is open relatively late compared to other places. Binx always hits the spot.

Cute and fun spot; was great for a small group of 3/4. The presentation of the starters were nicer than the mains; the panko chicken with red curry was good, but at the price point it would be nice if there was a small side accompanied with it. I also thought the smashed cucumber and fluke ceviche were a touch too salty/ strong in their brines that it overpowered the natural flavors.

What a cutie spot! I know it’s a wine bar but every item on the menu sounds seriously delicious - it was hard to choose. We got the fried chicken bites, squash blossoms, and the sea bass. Everything was awesome! The kimchi vinaigrette was complex, the tempera blossom was thoughtfully placed on a bed of fresh buttery peas… they gave us free chocolate mousse and it was delicious and not overly sweet. Interior was sweetly designed with fun details and the space was intimate. The staff is kind and helpful with beverage selection. Excited to go back!

Yelp
This place was busting at the seams this last Friday evening due to the warm summer evening's beckoning to enjoy a drink anywhere outside. Binx has that, a ton of seating with little tables outside. It was like a scene from a movie! We were promptly seated despite this, but instead inside. The interior was a mix between whimsy and swank. Little animal lamps adorned the bar, flower lampshades, and a disco ball on the ceiling. Even after being swiftly ushered to bar seating, the bartender(s?) ignored our presence for quite some time. They seemed to be quite overwhelmed by the unexpected rush. After finally being acknowledged, we ordered two drinks: a glass of wine and a citrus cocktail. Both were rather forgettable. The citrus spritz had no depth of flavor outside of straight citrus and nothing else. The staff outside of the host who seated us were not particularly friendly--more distant and cold with no hospitality whatsoever. While the branding of the place drew us in (incredibly cute and moody at the same time, such like myself), the sorry customer service and less than ordinary drinks were simply not worth it. Perhaps a good option if you: a) prioritize vibes b) are able to get seated outside c) are already shmoozed and all you drink will taste the same Can't say much about the food, but what was interesting was the very small open kitchen smushed and overpacked with cooks. I felt bad for them being exposed and in such a tight little place. Also, the joint is incredibly loud.

Yelp
My friend and I stumbled upon this place on a Friday night. There were a decent amount of tables on Christopher street - kinda nice for people watching. We went inside and were seated inside first since people were waiting for tables outside. It's pretty small inside but super cute! There's a disco ball and even the tables are covered in cute a design. The bathroom is straight inside and covered by a curtain - it was giving wizard of oz. The bathroom itself was like an airplane bathroom with the door being bendy. Since it's so tight inside this place, you're kind of in the way when standing and waiting in line for the bathroom. Service was okay. I think they are still learning the ropes and getting settled. The place was super packed so understand that it was busy. At one point in the night, servers were asking if anyone ordered a tuna tartare bechase they didn't know who ordered it. They also didn't know where our check was because we placed drink orders inside then moved outside when a table was available. We got: - spicy margarita ($16): my friend liked this - Campari spritz ($16): I wasn't really a fan of of the Campari. I should have just gotten a regular Aperol spritz I am not sure if I would come back, maybe a different drink but vibes were okay.

Yelp
You'll find Binx sandwiched between two barber shops on easterly Christopehr Street. I found BINX on The Infatuation, fond as I am of West Village spots such as the new Fedora (under the St Jardim team) and Buvettte. Snagged a seat at the 5-seat bar around 7:15pm on Wednesday 4June2025, surrounded by 20 and 30 somethings, most of them ladies unaccompanied by fellas, as is typical of West Village spots these days. Visit Binx knowing that it is truly cozy and quirky, combining tightly-spaced tables, a disco ball at the rear of the room, oddly creepy animal light fixtures at the bar counter, and naturalistic yet surrealistic yet arts-and-crafts decor in the main room. I enjoyed the kimchi fried chicken and crab tortellini, and of course, two pours of natural-leaning wines. Ambience was a bit loud, but not unpleasantly so. Give it a try!

Yelp
Cute wine bar. The Argentinian orange chardonnay was yum, all the dishes were good. The Korean fried chicken and the ricotta tortellini were standouts. The tuna tartare with fries sounded great but was a bit of an odd pairing.

Yelp
I love Binx! The food is so good especially the scallops and the drinks are yummy. The vibe is so cute and fun. Most importantly the people there are awesome.

Yelp
Cute place, good food & drinks. Terrible experience with one of the staff members. We were a group of 4 celebrating a friend moving into the city. We ordered several bottles of wine and full meals (apps & entrees). Our 2 waiters were great. When it came time for dessert, we ordered an extra bottle of wine and their dessert. We had also brought our friend a slice of cake from her favorite bakery too. We figured it would be ok since we ordered more items from the restaurant. Our waitress came over and let us know it was against policy to bring in outside food - she was totally respectful, and we definitely understood and apologized. One minute later this other staff member came over and started yelling at us (I didn't get his name; just know he had reddish hair) - "what do you think you're doing? this is completely unacceptable and ridiculous, we're trying to make money off of this restaurant and this is way out of line!!" We were completely taken back that this man was yelling at this table of patrons for a piece of cake (and contrary to his point, when we had spent extra $ there). Five minutes later, they sent out a free dessert, most likely as an apology for the man screaming at us after the waitress already told us the policy. Instead of the free dessert, I would have appreciated a verbal apology for the inappropriate and disrespectful behavior the staff member showed to us. We will not be returning.
