A Lakeview mainstay where crunchy, peppery house-sauced wings fuel game nights and neighborhood hangs. Regularly cited by The Infatuation and long loved by local wing diehards for generous portions and that signature Bird’s Nest heat.

Iconic neighborhood dive bar with some of the best wings in the city, paired with a ton of TVs so you can always catch whatever game you want. We hadn't been here in about 8 years and glad to see not really much has changed. Quesadilla was good and we ordered 20 wings with their special sauce and hot BBQ, they were amazing. Place was packed on a Sunday afternoon so be prepared for a wait, but it'll be worth it.

Google
This is the spot for wings. My fiance and I LOVE buffalo wings. We make them and go out for them regularly, and are pretty picky about them. Our home made wings take 2 days. Having said all that, The Bird’s Nest has the best wings in the city. At LEAST on the north side. And we’ve tried a lot of spots. The Bird’s Nest is our go-to, and we don’t even have an acceptable backup. Weekend nights it’s pretty much always packed, so beware. And it’s Mad Max style seating where you need to fight for a table. But it’s worth it. Oh, they also have great Caesar salads.

Google
Great wings as always. Less flavor options than the chains but that's fine because you can't go wrong with what they have. They were out of a couple appetizers, which was a bummer. Went on a Sat evening with college basketball on. Place was packed. We did eventually get some seats at a high top after some folks left without waiting terribly long. Seats are first come first serve and a seat yourself situation. It was loud, hard to talk to folks beyond one seat away from you. That's what you get, so no surprise there. Good wings, decent vibes, decent service on a busy night.

Bird’s Nest isn’t just a bar—it’s an experience, and a lot of that magic comes from the bartenders. Monica Maddie and Madison are absolute knockouts—beautiful, confident, and effortlessly cool. They’re the kind of bartenders who turn heads the moment you walk in, and their charm only adds to their undeniable allure. On top of being stunning, they’re incredibly skilled at their craft, making every cocktail feel like it’s crafted just for you. Add to that their vibrant personalities and warm smiles, and they’ll have you coming back as much for the conversation as for the drinks. Pair this with the unforgettable wings (seriously, they’re the best in the city), and you’ve got a bar experience that’s second to none. Bird’s Nest is where great vibes, amazing food, and gorgeous bartenders come together for an unforgettable night!

A laid back neighborhood bar offering a friendly casual atmosphere and some of the best wings in Chicago. You seat yourself which can be tricky since nights are often crowded with college students. Daily drink specials are offered. Menu selections include a variety of appetizers, salads, wraps, sandwiches, pizza and of course wings. We had to wait a little bit to find a table but as we looked around, everyone was having their wings. We ordered a pitcher of beer (Drink special of the day 12.00) and a basket of 20 wings with their own Birds Best Hot Sauce and an order of Cajun fries with cheese for dipping. Fries were not greasy but I wish the cheese sauce was warm and not cold. The wings had just the right amount of crisp and the sauce was not too hot ...just right! Good size and very meaty. They are the real deal! Plenty of street parking and an outdoor patio in the summer. If you want good wings in the city at a decent price, this is the place to go.

Bird’s Nest is hands down one of the best bars in all of Chicago! From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like family. Monica, Madie and Madison are absolute stars—the best in the industry! They go above and beyond to make sure you have an unforgettable experience every single time. The food here is nothing short of amazing. The wings? World-famous for a reason! They’re an absolute must-try—perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and hands down some of the best I’ve ever had. The rest of the team deserves just as much praise. Everyone is always smiling, happy, and genuinely eager to make sure you’re taken care of. The energy and hospitality they bring makes Bird’s Nest feel like home.

Google
Bird's Nest is the kind of neighborhood bar that feels like your go-to spot after just one visit. Their wings are legit—crispy, juicy, and the sauces slap (highly recommend the spicy garlic parm). The vibe is super chill, with a laid-back crowd and TVs everywhere, so it's perfect for catching a game without the over-the-top sports bar chaos. The bartenders are friendly, quick with a pour, and always keep the good times rolling. Solid spot for good eats, cold drinks, and zero pretense.

Kyle Brown

Google
Bird’s Nest in Chicago is a must-visit spot for anyone who loves great food and a chill, welcoming atmosphere. Their wings are hands-down some of the best in the city—perfectly crispy, flavorful, and with sauce options that cater to every taste. The staff is always friendly and attentive, and the vibe makes it a great spot to hang out with friends or catch a game. Whether you’re there for the wings, burgers, or just a good time, Bird’s Nest never disappoints. Highly recommend checking it out!

Yelp
Since I live nearby, I kept hearing about how good the wings at Bird's Nest were. Finally, I got the craving and ordered some to go. I got the hot wings and my girlfriend got the teriyaki. While the hot wings were fantastic, the teriyaki were in a whole separate dimension. I will without a doubt order those next time. Also, Bird's Nest seems like a nice place to get a couple drinks and watch a game so I will have to try that out in the near future.

Yelp
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My friends and I stopped in to Birds Nest hoping to try their wings. We saw a video on TikTok that Birds Nest had some of the best wings in Chicago but sadly we were never able to even try them. We walked in hoping a staff member would see us to get seated but no one ever came. So we walked around the restaurant looking for some open seating thinking maybe it was a seat yourself restaurant, but every space was full. We tried going to a back area but got yelled at that it was closed. At this point we're looking lost and confused. Rather than maybe helping us get sat or provide direction on what we could do or where we could wait to be seated we were ignored after getting scolded. We walked to the bar, thinking okay maybe we'll just order takeout. NOPE! We were also ignored despite our efforts to flag someone down. There were a couple staff members around that saw us and yes they looked a little preoccupied but we were also very obviously just trying to get help. The fact they couldn't even acknowledge us and take 10 seconds out of what theyre doing to assist was upsetting and a poor reflection of customer service. Overall, we left disappointed and annoyed but was glad to give another local restaurant our business. This is just my personal experience. For all those looking to give this place a try, I truly hope you have a better experience than I did!

Yelp
This is my go-to wing spot in Chicago! As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of all things wings, this place stacks up! Their bird nest hot wings are the ones to go with. It's a unique sauce that I would say is not burn your mouth but enough kick to enjoy. I also would say the wings are perfectly fried and not too big that they lose the taste. Service here has always been excellent. Have done both takeaway and sit-in and always get freshly cooked wings.
google avatar

Yelp
Love coming here whenever I am in Chicago! Typical dive bar, perfect for watching the big game. They have plenty of tables but beware it is a seat yourself place so you may have to wait for a table. They are known for the wings and they are incredible. Highly recommend the honey bbq or the hot teriyaki! The fries are equally as good and they have regular or curly so definitely get a side of those. Plenty of beer, seltzer, and wine choices. Can't recommend this place enough, if you are considering it definitely go!

Yelp
Some of the best wings I've ever had in my life. Was great service despite how packed it was. Was here for the College Football National Championship and was an amazing viewing experience.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday night with friends and the bar was pretty packed, so we decided to eat out on the patio. Our waitress was nice and attentive. We ordered wings, and two burgers. The wings were juicy and flavorful. We got the teriyaki (on the sweeter side) and birds nest sauce (a bit of a kick). Their fries are Cajun curly, so yummy! The Fahy burger was my favorite item there! It had crispy onion rings and bacon with bbq sauce but the bbq sauce wasn't too overpowering/sweet which was perfect. We also got the regular burger, but it was pretty bland so I wouldn't recommend that. This is a nice neighborhood bar with good wings and a great bbq burger, you should definitely check it out!

Yelp
Love this place. Neighborhood corner bar and has great wings. I was told these are the best wings and they were not wrong. Huge wings like the old days and tasty. The sauce was great. Curly fries were large portion enough to share. Tried to order the onion rings and breaded mushrooms but were told they were out of breading which sounds a little strange. We went at noon so may have gotten there before they could bread them and stick in the cooler. In any case the place was good. Worth a visit.

Yelp
Ok Chicago, this little bar is great I shall say! The service is speedy quick and everything tastes perfect. The wings are actually crispy and the bird sauce is a great flavor. We stopped in here during lunch on a Saturday before it got too busy, there were quite a few TVs to watch the soccer game on which was great for my boyfriend. The ambiance was definitely bar vibe and I liked that. I mostly liked how attentive our server was and how fast and fresh our food came out.
google avatar

Chanelle N.

Yelp
I would say 3.5. Good wings? Yes. Would I travel this far for them? No. It's definitely bar vibes with unique signature hot sauce wings. Above average!

Andrew W.

Yelp
Saw Big Cat and Gruden approved it so decided to check it out. Legendary. Great service. High quality, perfect for winter and any time of the year.

Yelp
Went to this dive on a random Monday with a friend for wings. Walked over to Southport and pulled up to the restaurant. They had a good amount of outdoor seating on the side of the restaurant, but we were told that it was closed for the night. Ordered: -Mozzarella Sticks (would not recommend, meh) -Wings with three of the different sauces (recommended, all sauces were good). -Curly fries -Beers -Diet Coke Classic dive. Neighborhood bar vibe. A bit dark, lots of TVs, and tons of space. Service was good and servers and bartenders were friendly.
google avatar

Maggie A.

Yelp
I dream about these wings. As a dive bar super fan, this place has it all - top quality food, a ton of TVs to watch any game you're looking for, full bar, etc. I've been here on football Sundays and on Friday nights and would go back any day of the week. On top of the local bar ambiance, the food here is fantastic. Bartenders are great and wait staff cover a lot of ground and are still super attentive and friendly. Can't wait for my next batch of birds nest wings w/ house sauce
google avatar

Mary M.

Yelp
Good food and beer. Great ambiance. The wings were hot and the drinks were cold. What more can you ask for

Roland G.

Yelp
Great Service Waitress Stella was Amazing with her greeting and she went above and beyond putting The Houston Texans Game on for us. Atmosphere was amazing
google avatar

Tori H.

Yelp
Such a fun casual atmosphere with great food and service. Highly recommend for going to watch sports with friends! You must get their wings and a beer - but we also had bloody Mary's and those were great too. Can't wait to come back, it's a perfect spot!
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
Dark and dingy bar- we've come a few times for just drinks, but we recently came in for a snack. The wings were surprisingly good. Were they the best? They've made its way to towards the top of my list, but they aren't my favorite wings in the city. Nonetheless, they were nicely fried (skin was not rubbery), and the Bird's Nest Hot Sauce was a unique flavor- not quite buffalo sauce and not bbq. Maybe unpopular opinion, but they were too saucy/smothered. The Seasoned Curly Fries were good, but we wished they were a tad more crispy and more curls... Of the entire basket, there were maybe 2 actual curly fries.
google avatar

Maizy J.

Yelp
NOW THIS PLACE... Lives up to the hype. I feel like I actually have had better wings but the sides really sealed the deal for me. My boyfriend and I came here on a casual date night Friday, and were pleased. Our server was slow BUT it was her first night working there and for that I commend her because she had a lot of tables and I could tell she was stressed. So we weren't upset by any means. We split a 20 piece wing with BBQ, cheesy bread, and curly fries ADD CHEESE OBVI and when all the food arrived my jaw dropped. There was so much laid in front of us. We were so excited because we were starving this night preparing for this meal and it did not disappoint. If you're looking for a spot that's casual for a date or want to meet some buddies at a chill bar situation this is the place!
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
Birdsnest is your neighborhood wings and beer spot. The atmosphere is loud on the weekends. The wings are the best in Chicago in my opinion. They are very crispy and coated in the perfect amount of sauce. They could have a bigger selection of sauces but the ones they do have are good. Usually pretty busy but you'll find a spot quick. Service was great. Friendly staff.
google avatar

Meghan A.

Yelp
Love it here! Our waitress was fast and we got our food quickly. My partner loves the hot buffalo wings and I cycle through the wraps. A fun atmosphere especially for sports and they have a lot of good deals! We also love their outdoor seating :)
google avatar

Connor B.

Yelp
Awesome dive bar in the area. The wings are out of this world. Came for a football night on Sunday and it was awesome. Open seating to get with a group of people. Definitely worth checking out if you like sports and wings.

Brett K.

Yelp
Great bar great wings great atmosphere great music 10/10 you should go. There was only one weird thing that happened and I felt the need to share it. I went to pee before leaving and there was another guy in the bathroom. As I walked in he was talking to himself in the mirror and it sounded like longneck acting out the Paul Rudd mirror scene in Wanderlust. He quickly noticed me and whipped his head around and slurred, "lotta baddies out there tonight huh?" which I replied "for sure man". He then told me to "check this out" and showed me a picture of a girls ass he secretly took that night at the bar which I told him was a little weird and he kind of shrugged it off. He then asked if I had coke and he needed some for Miami night and he is looking for a "busty latina mommy". "Sorry man but no." He explained how he wasn't going to actually do it, rather just rub some on the brim of his nose to have the appearance of someone who has done coke because "that's what the blm's like". He talks to me the entire time I'm pissing... I finish and go to leave and just tell him to have a good night. Which he replied "full body full body ay do you mind getting a photo of me in my Miami fit?" I did and got out of there. I posted the photo of him below. Great overall experience. Probably tell a manager if you see this guy
google avatar

Nick M.

Yelp
Amazing food, great atmosphere, incredible staff. In the few times I went, Madison was a great waitress, Monica was a highly detailed oriented manager, and CJ was an absolute tank of a bar back. 10/10

Yelp
Had been looking forward to coming here for over a month on my trip to Chicago, and it did not disappoint! The positives: From a purely wings perspective this place is a 5/5. The wings are good sized, crispy, and very flavorful. The best part to me was that they don't sit extremely heavy like some places. This place is exactly what I personally look for in wing. Additionally, the beer prices were very reasonable and it seems like a great place to catch a buzz and watch a game. While I personally did not drink, my fellow patrons appeared to be having a great time, making this a fun spot in my eyes. The negatives: The inside of this place is extremely dark and dingy. Not exactly what I was looking for on a Sunday at 1pm. The waitress was also a bit rude, but I didn't let it ruin me day! Overall, this place earns the Big Congus stamp of approval and I would definitely come back.

Sam T.

Yelp
Great wings! They always deliver a quality product and they are very nice too. They also have football games going on Sundays so it is a good place to hang out.

David L.

Yelp
I've been to a lot of places for wings and you just can't beat the wings at the Birds Nest! Service was great even though the bar was packed.

Chris N.

Yelp
The nest is the best. Great atmosphere, solid staff and love the food. Classic Chicago neighborhood tavern.
google avatar

Elise A.

Yelp
I came for lunch and it was pretty good! I ordered the Birds Nest burger and within 15 minutes it was ready, and tasted delicious! Jasmine (one of the waiters) was very nice and attentive. Definitely recommend stopping by for nachos, wings, salads, and burgers!
google avatar

Oren F.

Yelp
Hands-down, some of the best wings I've ever had! Somehow they perfectly blend together a crispy salty exterior doused in delicious house made sauces with a juicy perfectly cooked chickeny center. I'm a huge proponent of chicken wings and for me, they have to be done right. This place definitely knows how to make a good chicken wing and reasonably priced too! I got my hands on 10 of the house hot sauce, and they certainly did not disappoint. Aside from wings, the curly fries are pretty solid too! We got them with a Cajun rub and they had a nice blend of salty and spicy. The environment is perfect for a Sunday afternoon to watch some football and enjoying a tap beer. Year-round there is always something to enjoy at this local hotspot. Definitely recommend you try out and will certainly be back plenty of times.
google avatar

Carly S.

Yelp
I've heard about Bird's Nest forever but somehow had never been! I love the atmosphere - a classic bar vibe but with really good food. We got the veggie/spinach artichoke plate, the onion rings, and of course, the classic wings. Honestly it was all so good. They have a great beer selection as well. I think as long as you aren't expecting a top tier dining experience, you really can't go wrong with Bird's Nest

Conor J.

Yelp
the best service a Chicago establishment has to offer. Incredible environment, electric music, great staff.
google avatar

Micah K.

Yelp
I love this place so much! The S/O lives close so we come here quite often. We usually bring her doggy and sit outside on a Friday evening. It's the perfect place to do so as they always provide Maisy with a water bowl, always greet each dog with "human respect", and are constantly doting on each dog as if it was their own. The food is typical Chicago bar food but always hits the spot. (The wings and pizza are fantastic) The beers are always cold and arrive just as you think you need another. The atmosphere is great as there's usually multiple dogs outside sniffing each other. Inside is almost as good as they have lots of TVs displaying any sport that interests you. We love this place so much that during the Covid closures, we sat outside in PARKAS to patronize them. Several times it was around 10-15 degrees Fahrenheit, yet the staff always did great. This is a STAPLE of the area!
google avatar

Kathy T.

Yelp
came to chicago for 5 days and found this small corky place to be highly recommended. I got the hot BBQ sauce & hot bird nest sauce wings and it did not disappoint. It was very crispy/crunchy and very flavorful. Also got the cheesy bread which is never a disappointment. I would definitely come back again for the wings
google avatar

Tr Y.

Yelp
The nest is a Chicago classic place for wings, sports, pool, friends, beer and other delectable food offerings. The owner and staff could not be more fantastic. It is a dive bar, but it's not disgusting, you can and should bring loved ones. The chicken sandwich is also a stand out. They used to have a trivia night which rivaled 2nd city and had amazing prizes. If you have not been yet, go. The birds nest is way cleaner than any other bird's nest in the world and has consistently ranked top 5 wings in Chicago every year since it opened.
google avatar

Dina E.

Yelp
Delicious pub food, friendly service and pedestrian friendly patio seating. This bar/restaurant also has an indoor long wooden bar with flat screens featuring sports bar programming.
google avatar

Erica B.

Yelp
The service here was great today. Everything came out super quick. I wish you could split the wing sauces into groups of 5s, but we ended up doing 10 Honey BBQ and 10 Birds Nest Hot Sauce which ended up being the right move since both were really good. The hot sauce wasn't too spicy and had a little sweetness, too. We also got the regular nachos which were ok, but I'd probably try a different app next time since the chips at the bottom got pretty soggy and some of the ones on top were just lettuce or a little chicken.
google avatar

Jeremy P.

Yelp
The wings are delicious and the atmosphere is great. Definitely one of my go-to spots for wings. Service is top notch and very accommodating. The restaurant is a bit lacking in terms of handicapped-accessible seating, but the wonderful staff will work with you to find a solution if the place is crowded.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
We stopped in here to try the wings and I thought they were really good! We got the house hot sauce which was not too hot but definitely got hotter as you keep eating it. The wings were nice and saucy which is our favorite. We also loved the atmosphere. It was decorated really cozy and just gave very homey dive bar vibes. Also our miller lites were only $2.50 because of the tuesday happy hour special. Definitely would come back!

Corey H.

Yelp
Don't order the chicken Philly. It was extremely dry. Worst Philly I've ever had. At least the service wasn't bad though.
google avatar

Greg G.

Yelp
Heads up, this place is CROWDED on popular game nights. March madness, super bowl, you name it. If there's a big game, everyone is here. Open seating so just try and fight your way to a table or stalk the right person leaving soon. Wings are the perfect amount of crisp to sauce ratio. Can't go wrong there. Their homemade onion rings are also amazing. Definitely can't go wrong there either. Plenty of beer options, great atmosphere, tons of TV's. 5/5
google avatar

Yousif A.

Yelp
Went in on a busy Sunday and while the service was a little slow everything was well worth the wait! They have a pool table and plenty of tvs for a casual night.
google avatar

Melanie V.

Yelp
Came here to meet with a few friends and had a very nice time. They treat you like family in a neighborhood bar. Kind staff and great draft beers all around in addition to plenty of indoor and outdoor space. Not going to comment on cleanliness because it's very dark inside but they cleaned off tables and that is good by me! Onto food. Most yelpers indicate the best wings ever...I'm not one of those people but I gave them a solid try and they were good. Both wings and drumsticks, hot, juicy, crispy, etc. Large portion, reheated nicely but most of all, they have a lot of sauces to choose from. I ultimately like the hot bbq the best but it was fun to try them all on the side. Artichoke dip was very good although it's served in styrofoam which is a downer. Buffalo chicken salad was delish and chicken fingers with fries also solid bar food. Likely will come back for a bar snack and beer in the winter!
google avatar

Samantha K.

Yelp
Perfect spot for Sunday football viewing with friends! I'm sad that I'm visiting from out of town because I would happily come here each week. We ordered the victory sticks (which are mozzarella sticks) and a huge order of wings. The BBQ sauce was fantastic and I liked the blue cheese sauce, too. Overall, a great casual sports bar to go to with friends - would recommend!
google avatar

Jacob P.

Yelp
Fast and friendly staff. The food was good. Plenty of room to hangout and watch sports.
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
This place is fine. Really busy on game nights, you'll want to get there early if you want a seat. Fun vibes and pretty decent specials throughout the week. The service is average because they are so busy. The sandwich I got was just not good. I would go here for apps/wings and drinks. I'll try it out again and hope for a better experience.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from this place last night. Got pizza, chicken wings and curly fries. Decent pricing, but those chicken wings are always gonna be expensive to me Food arrived after a hour or so. Nicely packaged to keep it warm. I tried the pizza first. Not really my deal as the pizza was thin with a mirrored thin layer of cheese and pepperoni. I think they took tavern style a bit too seriously and kept the pizza like a cracker. 4/10 wouldn't recommend. The curly fries were deliciously seasoned. They filled a container and it was well worth the price. They were slightly soggy from the travel and perfect by the time they got to me. Dipped in ranch it was BEAUTIFUL. The wings were def the star though. I got hot bbq with ranch. They were crispy and meaty and had a nice heat about them. The price was 18.75 for 10, which was 1.87 per which seemed crazy, and I'm still not sure it's worth it. But I can assure you the taste is amazing.

Yelp
Hate to give this rating, because we live in the neighborhood and this is one of our favorite places to grab some wings and drinks in the summer! But I had to share this wild experience I had there last night. It was pretty busy and we went for 2 drinks and an app. When we tipped the waitress, she came back and asked us why we tipped her a certain amount? She said that her manager "makes" her do this......I have NEVER once been asked why I gave a certain amount as gratitude. We sat there in awkward silence for about 30 seconds before my friend spoke up and let her know we waited pretty long for service. I then proceeded to tell her this practice was quite rude, in a calm manner. And was then asked to leave???? Crazy.....ruined the night

As part of my Costco run, my BFF and I decided to stop by for a snack at Bird's Nest since we heard so much about it. We sat at the bar and placed our order of wings, fries, and a daily special beer. The fries came out first and they were garlicky, hot, and tasty. We nommed that up in minutes. BFF said the beer was tasty, but not cold enough. We waited patiently for the wings for about 30 minutes and finally asked our bar tender about it and he said he forgot to put the order in! -__- So we waited about another 20 minutes and the wings came out -- super over cooked/dry. The sauce was okay -- not the best. It tasted like sweet, spicy, bbq sauce which is not my preference for wing sauce. Since they were near inedible, we left two wings behind uneaten. When we got the bill, the bar tender charged us regular price rather than the daily special prices. I pointed it out and he updated the bill, but I felt so salty doing it to save $2.
