Bobby Moore Takes Over Bellevue’s Bis on Main and is Opening Bar Moore | Eater Seattle

"A white-table-cloth institution with a loyal fanbase, Bis on Main will be taken over by Bobby Moore on October 1; he plans to honor the hard work the owner has put into it over the last 24 years, retain the staff, and keep the name while Sal Gonzalez remains as the restaurant's chef. I will keep much of the current menu but put twists on some dishes and enhance it with more local and seasonal ingredients, working with farmers Moore developed relationships with during his time at Barking Frog, and I plan some remodeling—probably knocking down a few walls—to give the space a more open vibe. Moore also says he will stay heavily involved in the kitchen and on the floor as chef-owner." - Jade Yamazaki Stewart

An Old Bellevue fixture for refined Northwest-leaning bistro fare and an excellent wine list. Covered by Seattle Met and lauded by local writers for consistency; the crispy garlic chicken has a devoted following.

The black cod is the best I’ve ever had. Their bread and butter is absolutely delicious, definitely have to ask for some as starter. We also tried the steak tartare which was to die for. The service was excellent, however, they’re non-alcoholic wine is a bit lacking. I bet the mock tails would be better. Their chicken was prepared French style, which was not to my taste, but overall the food was delicious.

This place was amazing!! I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and she loved it. The service, food and drinks were incredible!! Although I found parking on the street, they have valet parking in the back. You won’t go wrong with anything you order. I’m definitely going back.

Google
One of my favorite spots! Their food is always fresh and menu always reflects what’s current and in season. Not to mention, their cocktails are flawless! I highly recommend using their valet service - it saves time and headache every time!

Google
5 star food that is a little pricey but worth every penny. If you like watching the Gordon Ramsay shows with wonderful food and fabulous plating then Bis on Main is for you. Beautiful meals that are filling and delicious. Miso Cod or Garlic Chicken. Both were fantastic. Valet parking around back $8 and the service! We had Miguel for our waiter and he was 6 stars. Bending over backwards to make sure our meal was perfect but never obtrusive. He would just pop up exactly when we needed something. Make sure you try to sit in his section. Note: He doesn't work everday. Give Bis on Main a try.. very good food from a very good chef.

Google
Bis on Main feels (somehow, strangely) like home. Delicious food served in a fairly unassuming dining room. Good service. A bit hard to express but it feels to me like this restaurant allows you to focus on your dining companions, on good conversation. It's delicious and unpretentious at the same time. We love going here for a great meal and great conversation.

Google
Food was excellent and so was the service. We had the crispy shrimp for starters and it was perfect! Nice and juicy, interesting dressing and spices but nothing overwhelming, and perfectly cooked. For mains we had the garlic chicken which was phenomenal! Again, very juicy and flavorful - even the white meat was not dry at all. And we also had the lamb shake risotto with mushrooms - very good as well. For dessert we had the bread pudding and the mango pistachio ice cream - both were great too :-)

So my husband has been eyeing this place for a while especially when he found out that the chef from the barking frog was the owner of this place (this isn’t a new place just under new ownership) Unfortunately when you initially walk in there is that old building smell, which you eventually get nose blind(ish) to. We came in for brunch and were immediately seated, the welcome was very warm and attentive. I love that they had chicken sausage which I don’t always find on their menu and the menu itself was fairly typical to most breakfast menus. So let’s talk food Beignets 4/5 lovely pastries a little heavy handed on the sugar, it came with chocolate syrup and huckleberry cream cheese. I will always be a proponent of chocolate sauce and not syrups, I get it it’s more expensive but alas Steak and eggs 3/5 a few things here the cook was great but the steak absolutely needed more of a sear, and the potatoes had no place being on that place without getting more crunch, hollandaise and eggs were fine but over all a lack luster dish Farmers Breakfast 3/5 same issue with the potatoes, we did sub bread for biscuit which was yummy, the components were fine they were just missing something extra and with the price point expected of a restaurant in Bellevue and an ex chef of a woodinville favorite we expected more There are quite a few breakfast places I’d have enjoyed more is what it comes down to. I hope they keep adjusting the menu until they get it right and we’d be more than happy to come back!

Google
We had a wonderful brunch at Bis! Every dish at our table looked and tasted fantastic. I had the French toast, which was perfectly done, and I got to try my aunt’s quiche—the crust was especially amazing. We also shared the beignets, which were warm, fluffy, and delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is fine dining in Bellevue and it's a cozy spot on Main Street so it's got the usual vibe in bellevue. It was holiday time and what a feeling of Xmas here. We had. A group of 8 and we had a great time. They didn't have a signature daiquiri so don't how the bartender does on that classic. But the Negroni was nice. They have a large selection of Pacific Northwest cuisine. I had their interpretation of a bouillabaisse which was rich a flavorful. There's complementary parking in the back which is very convenient. Overall a good spot for a business dinner :-)

Yelp
Went during SRW and had their SRW dinner menu. 1st course: choice of French Onion Soup or Crispy Prawns. We had one of each so we got to try them both. French Onion Soup was good. Nothing to rave about. Crispy Prawns - 2 prawns, grand marnier glaze, aleppo pepper - what a teaser! Overall a good dish and if they have this on their regular menu (and more prawns), I would order this again. 2nd course: choice of Cassoulet, Trout Almandine, or Braised Short Ribs My companion ordered Braised Short Ribs - braising greens, cipollini onions, mashed potatoes. Shrot ribs were tender and overall the dish was flavorful. I ordered the Trout Almandine but what came to our table was Cassoulet. When the server realized the mistake, an order for Trout Almandine was placed and the Cassoulet was left on our table while I wait for the trout. So we got to taste the Cassoulet. Cassoulet - duck confit, lamb, sausage, pork, white beans, breadcrumbs - it was good but glad I did not order it. It was too rich for me. Trout Almandine - haricot verts, shallot, fingerling potatoes - I actually like this dish more than the Braised Short Ribs. Buttery (a bit too buttery), but the trout was cooked nicely. 3rd course: choice of Brioche Bread Pudding or Chocolate Mousse Chocolate Mousse - amerena cherries, chocolate chips, whipped cream - it was ok. Brioche Bread Pudding - berries/white chocolate, caramel, whipped cream - between the two, I liked this dessert better, but I've had better bread pudding elsewhere. Service was good. They were very busy considering it was a weeknight but maybe because of SRW. Parking around this are is hard, but they offer valet parking for $8.

Yelp
Went here during Seattle Restaurant Week and had their brunch (ends at 2 pm). The brunch special is 3 course: drinks (mimosa/coffee), beignet, and entree (chicken sandwich, quiche, or french toast). I had the mimosa, quite sparkling as I prefer it. The beignet came out and was good, had a spread on the side. The main star(s) of the show was the sandwich and the french toast. I preferred the chicken sandwich more as it had a unique and delicious after taste. The french toast was good, but wasn't as memorable as the sandwich. The service was very attentive and came in to check on my table. Along with their great service, they were accommodating to me being late to my RSVP.

Yelp
For starters, love the fact that they have valet parking! Huge bonus for me! Our lunch reservations were for midweek at noon and when we arrived, the restaurant was packed. The menu is most impressive with something for everyone. At our table, an order of the wagyu meatloaf was ordered, the butternut squash bisque (probably the best soup I have ever had) and the farrow salad with kale, goat cheese and dried cranberries. The soup and salad also arrived with a warm breadbasket. The hostess as well as our waitress were awesome and so attentive. We just had the nicest meal today! Additionally, my mom had been given a gift certificate about 5 years ago and had misplaced it during a move. She came across it and brought it to the restaurant and she was so happy that they allowed her to use it towards our lunch! Good job Bis!

Yelp
Over priced menu with mostly flavorless food. Old school "high end" should learn what seasoning is. Service was good and hence two stars.

Yelp
Updated to a 1 star. The place is a joke now. The change of hands with new owners have ruined it. Food and everything has lost its magic, charm, and sense of nostalgia. The owner seems to harrass anyone leaving a bad review or honest feedback too--many of them, my friends that I agree with in experience (originally protested their thoughts/feelings prior to my own followup) were warning me of this beforehand. Sad. Just sad.

Yelp
I had a great meal and the service was awesome. order the pork chop or the chicken, and was it down with a glass of Passing Time wine.

Yelp
To get this review rolling I arrived late, par for the course really but helps with the entrance and honestly you get to see how a staff responds. Bis on Main wait staff were very good all around and that really makes or breaks a place. I've eaten here twice and both times the service was very good, professional and polite, all be it a bit stiff but I can't complain. The general ambiance is cozy and more intimate, this is a great place for a dinner date or special occasion for two. In my case we had way more than two but it worked out well. You can easily bring 6-8 people if you call ahead. Food - pretty top notch, the rib eye was very tasty, spot on medium rare. The salad was good, not the best I've had but still solid. The charcuterie board was nice, could have been a bit more generous on the cheeses but still tasty. Wine selection is reasonable although there are no "value choices". It's $16-$27 dollars per glass.... That's right per glass. I do think any restaurant should have a nice house red for less than $10 per glass. I get it, restaurants make a lot of money on alcohol but the meal is also not cheap so cut a guy a break. We did crack open an Opus One so you know I was suffering but still. All in all, Bis on Main is a great choice for a dinner date, special occasion or business dinner. Pocket book will thank you if you keep it to just a few times a year though! Expect higher end quality and service in the end.

Yelp
Awesome place to meet up with old friends and eat some amazing food. Chef Bobby has always gone above and beyond. The service staff know what they are doing and will know how to read the table. If you are looking for exceptional service, wine/cocktails and food ..... this is the place

Yelp
Our experience was beyond amazing, from the service to ambiance to the food. Thank you, Chef Bobby, for all of your wonderful recommendations!

Yelp
Still amazing food and top notch service, Mikayla is the best! Everything was presented beautifully and tasted so good! Chef Bobby really has done something great with Bis. My favorite Bellevue restaurant hands down!

Yelp
Came here for happy hour- had an old fashion, wagu burger and fried chicken burger. All 3 were great. Service was excellent. Would come again.

Yelp
The food was worst than cafeteria or dorm food. We ordered simple breakfast, eggs, bacon and it came with potatoes from yesterday or last week. Soft scrambled eggs were scrambled hard. Bacon was a glob, from being deep fried! I was appalled for spending $29. On garbage! I've heard so many good things about this place I was excited being my first time. BRUNCH IS NOT YOUR THING, stick to what is good and not terrible! Server Jordan was decent, he knew we were not happy.

Annabelle L.

Yelp
I have lived in the Bellevue area for many years and I still think the crispy chicken is one of the best dishes in town! We had amazing service combined with great food celebrating my birthday today.

Yelp
It's always a pleasure to be at this place--whether it's for breakfast in the morning, lunch, or dinner. The staff is well-trained and provides a high level of service. We often see the owner personally present, supervising the staff and engaging with guests. We highly recommend this spot--it's one of our favorites in Old Bellevue.

Yelp
If you have been a fan of the Barking Frog in Woodinville, over the years, you are familiar with the quality Chef Bobby Moore puts out. Bis on Main - an institution in Bellevue, was acquired by Moore a few years ago as his new venture. It's a banger! We stopped by today, and were welcomed as walk-ins for brunch. The restaurant is very comfortable, double-white linens and classic white tableware, but still totally casual. Staff were attentive but not lurking, and waters and coffees always topped off. Brunch had a reasonable offering - I would say prices a little above normal (like eggs Benny at $29 vs $20) but add-ons a bit high (sub crab cake Benny +$18). But the quality was perfect and I'm willing to pay for that. Exceptional whole grain English muffin, perfectly poached eggs, and maybe the best crab cakes I've had in the last 10 years? Not drowning in hollandaise, but I would say, dressed perfectly. The beignets, just like at the Frog, are phenomenal - hot, pillowy and sugared, served with marionberry cream cheese and a warm dark chocolate sauce. Definitely will remember to come back to try the other menus.

Yelp
Yelp took this down the first time, said I wasn't actually there!? Included a photo of the receipt. The service at the bar was great but the food was less than great, and eye wateringly expensive. Martini, app, main course and a bottle of wine ($50) was $183.00. I had the Cassoulet and it was brown, basically all brown. And it was kinda salty. It seemed like chef had some leftover ingredients and decided to cook the crap out of it, throw in some (formerly) white beans, and add some breadcrumbs to the top. I ate about half of it. Wasn't ever asked if I liked it or not. I'm from out of town but have to return to this area frequently, but won't be eating here again.
google avatar

Joy H.

Yelp
Unfortunately this placed missed the mark for me. I got the black cod which was not crusted with miso but instead topped with raw ginger (as seen alongside your sushi)! The fish was cooked well but that's really the extent of the enjoyableness of that dish. The hubs got the pork chop which was cooked well but the flavor profile wasn't that great. Overall pricey and disappointing meal.

Daniela G.

Yelp
We went after the lunch hour and the food was absolutely delicious! They gave us a different menu since it wasn't lunch time, but everything we tried was excellent. The service was lovely and the ambiance was really nice and relaxed. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality. I definitely want to go back to try the other menus because the food was so good!

Yelp
Tonight we went to Bis on Main in Old Bellevue and what a treat. we arrived a little early and were seated right away. it was a little quiet when we started and we got the chance to talk to our server and she explained the menu, and we ordered out meal. 3 of the Crispy Garlic Chicken and one order of the black Cod. we each had an oyster and then two of us had the lentil and Andouille sausage soup. the souple was rich and hard and super delicious. The meals came and it was awesome how much chicken was on the plate. As described the chicken was. moist and full of flaver, mashed potatoes velvety and smooth and delicous green beans. The Blasck Cod was equally as delicous and i even had encough chicken to take some home for lunch tomorrow. We shared two desserts and they were both delicious. Wondeerful experience a definite winner.

Yelp
I've eaten here before and had a positive experience so decided to consider this place for our rehearsal dinner since many guests were staying in downtown Bellevue. We looked at a ton of places and ultimately agreed on Bis on Main. This place checked a lot of boxes. We liked their versatile menu that was bound to be a crowd pleaser, their full bar and wide selection of wines, the classy and romantic atmosphere, and their private back room that could seat up to 38 guests. It has doors that can close if giving speeches or needing privacy. I just want to say that Bis on Main did an AMAZING job. Beforehand, the manager helped me create a set menu with 2 choices for salad, 4 entrees, 3 desserts, and a preselected red and white wine (beer and cocktails were available through a full bar). On the day of, the waitresses were so attentive to us and our guests. The service was honestly exceptional. Guests never had empty drinks because they were so on top of it. Food orders were taken swiftly and the food came out pretty close to the same time. The food was also excellent. So many guests came up to us both during and after and mentioned how delicious everything was. Most people ordered the Caesar salad but I got the mixed greens salad which was great too. Favorites were the miso cod and the steak. Both cooked to perfection. The desserts were quite large for each person to eat one, and we probably could have forgone those or shared, but honestly were apart of the set menu we had made and were still quite good. We had no trouble meeting the minimum ($3200) with 36 guests. Tl;dr: HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend coming here for hosting your next private event. A bit pricy, but so worth it for a good experience. Classy ambiance, top notch service, and excellent food and wine.

Yelp
Always a great time at Bis! Jason is the best! Never had a bad meal here, and especially since the remodel the vibe inside is very relaxed. Keep it up! :) Tip - use their valet! $8 and SO worth not having to find parking, especially during the weekend.

Yelp
Brunch at Bis on Main - who knew! I wish I'd known sooner. A great menu that spans breakfast, brunch, and lunch, there is something for everyone. I had the avocado toast and added poached eggs. Seriously good. We shared beignets to finish. They were great! A lovely place for a relaxed and enjoyable weekend brunch.

Yelp
Parking - on the street was easy. Service - it was amazing. Constant follow up and food did come out fast and good. Dinner ... Fries - amazing and crunchy. The truffle mayo was a great option. Escargot - there was actually 2 in each slot and they were decent sizes. I didn't care for the small breads that came with it as it was too hard or toasted. Miso Cod - cooked to perfection and the black rice was a great compliment. Bolognese - great tasting and the noodles were perfectly cooked. All in all, I'd go back. Bonus the owner is from Hawaii!

Yelp
We walked in for last minute dinner and were seated in the bar area. It's a cozy restaurant, casual and charming. We all agreed it would be a good date spot. The service is very good. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Easy to talk to and left us well-situated. We tried the rigatoni bolognese, crispy chicken, crab cakes, and beet salad. I thought the best dish was the crispy chicken. My friends liked the bolognese most. Everything was good. Along a street of good eateries, this place is a gem.

Elisa B.

Yelp
I have such mixed feelings about this place. We sat outside, which was cute. Our server was attentive, and the avocado toast was very tasty. Everything was going great until something I ate suddenly made me very ill. My entire meal came back up. I notified staff, but I'm not sure they did anything about it. I hope others don't get sick. Update: I hate giving bad reviews, but I talked with the owner, who tried to convince me I got sick from something I ate the night before, or that I was pregnant, and that it takes hours for food poisoning to present. A simple google search shows it can present as soon as 30 mins, which it did. No reassurances about food safety measures in the kitchen. Note also, I had the poached eggs. Down to 2 stars.

Yelp
We arrived early for dinner on Saturday night. We wanted a nice slow paced dinner and that's exactly what we got. Our server, Mikayla, was attentive, engaging, and personable all while not being pushy or rushing us. All the dishes were perfectly prepared, including the crab cakes, our salads and the salmon special entree. A great server combined with great atmosphere and great food is a trifecta!

Yelp
Alright, first time trying after new ownership. Of course you have to try the popular Crispy Garlic Chicken as the promise was to not change much but to improve and add new wrinkles to the menu. It didn't disappoint. But for those that prefer to spend less dollars, this simple but delicious chicken, mash and carrots for $42 might be a bit much, maybe. I would agree that price for this staple is a tad high, but you know, Bellevue, and smack dab in Old Bellevue downtown. I love this combo though, and the chicken was mostly moist, cripsy, slightly garlicy, slightly salty (as it should be). Mash was perfect and I love roasted carrots always! Menu is higher priced, the food for the most part might meet the pricing, but I can see for some it may not. It's a nice quaint experience though. Interior is unchanged, and place gets decently busy after 530pm in the winter. During the summer though its busy throughout the day. Great for family get togethers, a date, and some charm to add to it.

Yelp
Service so poor!! I'm not that hard to please but surely you can have someone bringing more water and the bill !! Stick your seniors in a table in a corner and forget about them !! Probably not big tippers anyway! WRONG !! Garlic chicken O K but not its usual tasty chicken !! And for a Monday night I would think one could try little bit harder

Yelp
We came back to Bis on Main for a celebration dinner... needed to re-confirm my 5-star review from a few years ago! The food is absolutely dynamite - my wife got the Caesar Salad - perfect balance of bite and flavor... I enjoyed the Burrata Salad - The flavor blend of the soaked fruit, dressing, and the Burrata was perfect! For mains, I had the spare ribs- new to the menu. The meat was so tender and the bones came out clean as could be - great combo with the Gnocchi and peas... my wife went out on a limb and had the black cod and was not disappointed! Wonderful flavor with the miso and soy ginger. Phenomenal meal

Yelp
My first experience here was pleasant. Would come back and try other items if someone else wanted to come here. Had the cassoulet, house mixed greens with blue cheese and pecan pie a la mode. The cassoulet had little duck, if any, but the lamb, sausage and pork were tasty. Overly salty and had a couple bones to remove. The blue cheese used for the salad was excellent. The pecan pie was served hot and had some alcohol added. The pie separated itself from the crust. The vanilla ice cream was the best part. I ordered this because pecan pie is my favorite, but with the added alcohol, it had a burnt taste and the portion difference between the nuts and the filling was off; way more nuts than filling. No one else in my party finished their meal or had any comments about the food except that the steak was all right. Free valet is available behind the restaurant. Waiter, FOH manager and servers were polite but cold. Tried joking with the waiter; he wasn't having it. Aesthetic was nice; white linens, dark wood and skylights.

Yelp
Eek, I do love supporting local businesses, but this restaurant is a candidate for Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares. The place is cute and the ambience decent, but the menu needs to be trashed, torched, and rewritten by someone who knows how to cook. Also, you might need a new chef. This was my second time trying this restaurant and there won't be a third, I really wanted to find something redeeming about the food, but it's just sad and bad. The first time I ordered the "crispy" chicken that the server said is very juicy, but it was like eating an old leather jacket. Then yesterday, I ordered the cod, it had no sauce and a bunch of ginger like what they give you for sushi on top, just weird, like the laziest preparation ever, nothing about the dish meshed well. Our Caesar salad tasted like they used way too much anchovies because it just tasted fishy to be honest. the food was expensive, which is fine m if it's good, not if it's terrible. Our server was nice, but I got the sense she frequently sees food get thrown away. I think this is one of those places where you get a drink only. I'm shocked messed up salad. it's like the menu was made by somebody who has never cooked before think bad New York Times recipes.

Yelp
Love Old Town Bellevue. Bis on Main is great ,never had a bad meal. The service is very attentive and kind. My favorite is the brunch

Yelp
Had an amazing dinner at Bis on Main. The food was great. Crispy chicken and black cod are incredible. Atmosphere and Service was fantastic and the owner and chef Bobby made us really feel special. Bis on Main is just great.

Yelp
We had made a reservation for 7 PM and were seated within minutes. It was seafood Friday and the place was smelling like Seafood. The waiter was very kind and attentive in telling us when our next course was ready. There were not many options for vegetarian people except for 2 options. I ordered a rice dish which had good flavors in it. The steak was really good according to my friend. Reasons for Rating: +1 Excellent location and parking +0.5 Food taste really good +1 Customer service +0.5 Interior/atmosphere +1 Would return/recommend others

Yelp
Unimpressed, even a bit let down. Normally I'd give that a three star but given the price and my expectation I gotta go lower. This was a Wed night meal, just my wife and I. Ambiance was OK. Private, dimmed lights, little lamps on tables. It felt formal but not stuffy, just a little upscale. Service started out OK, but we ran out of water several times and no one was to be found. The person filling passed us by when filling for others, and we had to wave him down chatting to another employee once I had finished both my wife's and my water. Small, but water service is a big part of my criteria everywhere The food is what really brought the score down. My wife had the seafood pasta which she said wasn't bad, but nothing to write home about. The crispy garlic chicken really let me down though. Mashed potatoes were good and delivered in a cute little cast iron bucket. They weren't all that hot and no browned bits so I'm guessing they were scooped or warmed in it and not really cooked there which is too bad. The carrots were pretty raw. I was expecting firmness inside but it was way underdone to the point you only tasted raw carrot, not the nice honey glaze on them. The chicken was the worst. Nice and thick but dry and flavorless, even the skin and the whole cloves of garlic with it had almost no taste. From the menu description (boneless crispy) I thought something more original. It had a bone in the thigh, and for a crispy dry dish like this at minimum they needed a garlic butter sauce on the side or something. Seriously, worse than the chicken breasts I get in our work Cafe, worse than what I can awkwardly pan fry at home, just hard to eat. I don't think I'll return, maybe their specialty is seafood (saw more dishes for that) and I'm just not into seafood.

Yelp
Food was nice but waiter was a bit desperate... he opened a new bottle of sparkling water right before we left without asking for our permission... and automatically charged 20% gratuity and didn't tell us... we almost tipped him twice... anyways we really liked the food but don't really feel comfortable with waiters being so desperate like that. Don't think we will return to this restaurant anymore. We can find good food in many other places, service and the way we are treated matters a lot.

Yelp
Very good service, good, and ambiance. I would recommend this for a nice date or a friends get together. It is a little on the formal side , so keep that in mind. One of my fav places to enjoy dinner and dessert with great company's

Yelp
Pretentious without reason. We never had the opportunity to try the actual food since our first impression of the restaurant was incredibly off-putting. At the time, we were visiting Bellevue and staying at one of the nearby hotels. We had a casual dinner at another restaurant, but it didn't offer dessert. We normally get dessert after dinner, so we were on a search. We thought of nearby restaurants which offered dessert and decided to get the dessert to go. We looked at the dessert menu from Bis on Main and saw a couple of options that looked good. Thinking, Bis on Main is a nicer restaurant, they must offer house-made desserts, prepared by a pastry chef... We called to check if the restaurant was willing to allow us to order dessert to go, where they had replied they would, but it wouldn't look as pretty, since it would be boxed. We were fine with it; a nice presentation is always welcome, but what matters more is the flavor. The restaurant said the dessert would be ready for us to pick up in around 10 minutes. We entered the restaurant, where the front of the house staff initially ignored us. When they finally did come to assist us, they made us feel as if we were an inconvenience, and certainly, not the type of people who should patronize their restaurant. Bellevue was one of our favorite "stay-cation" spots, and we were just taking a nice stroll after dinner, so no, we were not dressed formally, since we were not eating at Bis on Main, yet they felt the need to judge us anyway. We originally decided to try the food the next time we were in Bellevue, but after that first experience with Bis on Main, we were never going to return. We have been to many other restaurants in Bellevue (including fine dining restaurants) since moving to the Eastside. Our impressions of the restaurant: they are using the classification of "fine dining" a bit liberally. As for the dessert, it tasted as if they bought it from the grocery store. If it was prepared by an actual pastry chef, that chef truly needs to reflect and rethink their career path.

Yelp
Came here for Christmas Eve before the light show with a 515 reservation. The place was completely empty... and within 39 mins completely filled.up! Lots of larger families for dinner. The service was GREAT!!!! Our host, waitress and bus men were all so nice and attentive. The food was OK. If we could rate based on service, 5 stats for sure. But for the price of the dishes there wasn't anything spectacular about it. I wouldn't recommend the Miso Black Cod either... seemed as if they drizzled miso over the fish. Qeve had this in Hawaai, and it was the best thing I've ever tasted, so this was a pretty disappointing dish. I would recommend coming here for an upscale lunch HH or dinner if you want to get away from the mall.

Yelp
C'est si bon! Bis on Main is a delightful French bistro on Main St in Bellevue. The decor and ambience was beautiful and inviting. The service was attentive and as an added touch, the chef and owner came out during the meal to see if we needed anything. The dishes are fun & French, and the ahi Niçoise salad made me nostalgic for the south of France where I spent some time in college. I went for brunch but would love to try their other offerings. As a sober person, I thought the list of mocktails was a wonderful addition. 10/10 will go again. Now I want to decorate my whole home with navy and gold!

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in here a few weeks ago when we dropped our daughter off at UW. We were given a small table in the back. The meal was excellent. our server, Miguel B (According to receipt - i took a picture to make sure I gave him credit for our experience), took excellent care of us and made sure everything went smooth. I loved the artwork on the walls, the picture we were sat below was pleasant to look at between courses. Definitely would head back. It was a very busy night and thought they managed their customers well.

Yelp
We had fun since we went for my husband's birthday. But I have to say I had higher expectations for the food quality and service given the reputation and the prices! We sat outside since they have a nice outdoor area in the summer. The ambience was good! The mushroom rissoto was salty with little actual mushrooms and no umami flavor. Grilled carrots were very rare and barely grilled! Which was disappointing. Truffle fries were good and the white wine was good too. Service was not so good. I don't know if they were understaffed or what but our server had a bit of attitude (especially at the beginning). He got friendlier by the end which was tipping time! I just had higher hopes from this place. We always passed by it and wanted to try it, and we did. I don't think we'll be going back though! A bit over priced for the quality. Maybe give it a try if you like the summer outdoor space ambience and order some fries and beer! But don't recommend it for special occasions where you have high expectations!

Keep up the hard work, and we'll done under new ownership Mr Bobby More! Amazing waiting team as well. We will be back for sure and can only recommend this restaurant for fine dining experience in Bellevue!

Yelp
My water glass had foodstuff stuck to it. Not a fatal observation, just something worth noting for a fine dining restaurant. What was especially noteworthy, to me, was that in the context of the whole experience - that of a modestly fine dining establishment - it was an indication of cracks in the facade, but not an indication of a failure, just a mistake. I ordered coffee when I arrived, and it was about on par with any diner. As an appetizer I ordered the steak tartare, using it as a reasonable assessment of the food quality and execution. It was okay, but definitely not prepared with attention to detail and care, considering how large it was diced and the amount of gristle, as well as the rather pathetic "crostini" made from the cheapest, Wonder-bread-like mock-baguette, hard but lacking much evidence of being toasted. The amount of bread is inadequate for the amount of tartare, but the basket of bread that had been brought to the table at the outset was quite good, and though not toasted it made an adequate substitute for crostini. My entree of cassoulet was a melange of promising meat ingredients and white beans and breadcrumbs, but also disappointed. The meats were good, but the white beans were overcooked to a mushy paste, and the "breadcrumbs" were from a box and looked poured on at the last minute. The overall effect was that of eating a gravy-paste with powder on top, hunting for sausage and duck leg. I had a 30 year Dow port for dessert so cannot comment on their prepared sweets.

Yelp
I've been coming to Bis on Maine for years and have always loved their food. This past experience was sub par. The waiter was amazing and did a really great job guiding our party to be adventurous from our normal selections. The ambiance is still nice, but the food, in my opinion, has gone down hill since new ownership took over. The only two parts of our dinner that were excellent was the crispy chicken dish and the steak special (with the exception of the sides). Our table was delighted by the looks of our dishes, but underwhelmed with the flavor. The risotto on both of our dishes was undercooked, under seasoned and lacked the creaminess it used to have. When the chef came to our table to ask how the food was, we politely said it was fine and asked for salt so we could add to our dishes. He didn't ask any follow up questions after that, just dropped the salt off and left the table. That would have been the perfect opportunity to ask for feedback, but he didn't take it. The waiter was a gem. He asked how our meals were and we were able to be honest with him. He was funny, engaging and very sweet. We might go back to BoM in the future, but for now- we'll be trying other places.

Yelp
Just had lunch at Bis On Main. Spent $30.00 on what was supposed to be a New York steak salad. I had ordered my steak medium rare. It was served really rare and very tough. It was definitely not quality meat. The lettuce it was served on was wilted and had brown spots on the ends. The service was poor and slow to attend to the table. I'm sorry to see the quality and service go down hill. I would pay good money for quality food and service!
