I will say, I had no idea what to expect when walking into this restaurant, but I'm so glad I read the review from fellow yelpers and walked into this restaurant. My husband and I typically have a fancy meal to celebrate an anniversary, and since we decided not to really celebrate it this year in the city, we saved our fancy meal for the Hamptons at Bistro Ete.
First off, I was super pumped that this place had vegetarian options. It is extremely rare to find a French style restaurant with vegetarian options. This place had many and it was clear that they try to have a variety of options to be able to serve everyone. My husband and I aren't big drinkers, and I appreciated our server not being turned off by this. He was able to get my husband lemonade instead, and I stuck with water for the evening. He put ice with rosemary, orange, and strawberry in it in our water, turning our water into something fun to drink. For our appetizer, my husband and I shared the Roasted Local Brussel Sprouts with Halloumi, Pomegranate Seeds, Tahini, Grape Must. There aren't enough words to tell you how delicious this was. My husband and I were licking the spoon to taste the sauce. It was just beyond delicious.
My husband got the vegan paella, which he found to be delicious. I'm not an olive person, but I tried a bit of his and loved the paella. It was perfect with a nice crispy crust on top. I wasn't that hungry, so I ordered two appetizers for my meal, the spaetzle and the mussolini salad. Both were delicious and I had to have my husband try some of the mussolini salad because it was just delicious. They took such simple ingredients and made them so tasty.
We were filling pretty full, but I wanted to take one of the desserts to go because they looked so good. We settled on their season tart, which was the blueberry tart that day. We took it to our B&B and ate it that evening, and it was delicious. When we paid our bill, they gave us a sample of their candied orange, so of course we ended up having to buy some of that to take home as well. Bistro Ete is delicious, and it is one of the better meals that my husband and I have had anywhere. If we're ever back in Eastern Long Island, I definitely think we'll be back.
