Bisutoro continues the trend, one that comes from chefs trained classically in Japanese sushi — simple but turned up a notch. It’s an incredible spot to try rare fish, specialty sake, and other traditional Japanese specialties." - Beth D'Addono, Clair Lorell

Holy moly. This sushi is insanely fresh and delicious. Our amazing waitress Olivia was the best guide on what items to select too. Everything was great but that hand roll was next level.

Most things we ordered were a miss. When we specifically let the waitress know there was an issue with the salmon (i think it is called a spin on salmon), we saw her tell a guy at the sushi counter and he responded negatively to our feedback. We were not looking for anything free but the feedback was 100% valid. The fish was both chewy and had a bad taste. The Mars roll had tempura shrimp that was mushy and made it weird to eat. Just nothing outstanding. Definitely not going back.

New sushi restaurant in New Orleans built in a nice building with great modern/industrial appeal. Small seating area therefore large parties may have a hard time getting a spot; it's mainly a sushi bar top. drinks were pretty dang good. I would definitely go back for drinks. My favorite was the Japanese Mule. Sushi was pricey and probably overpriced for the flavor/size portion. Was it good? Yeah; was it memorable, nah. We ordered the Baja Hamachi, the Smoked Duck, Spin on Salmon, several rolls & nigiri. See our reel on IG @phidingthefam

The high points of the meal were fairly high and the lows were very low. There is one cocktail in particular that is undrinkable. The low point of the food is the price. All of the sushi was at least average and some of the maki was above average. The duck appetizer is the most delicious item we had. It's a good spot for drinks and a few appetizers on your way to somewhere else. A full meal here is quite pricey per person and not particularly higher quality than other sushi in New Orleans. The waitress was PHENOMENAL. Highly knowledgeable, excellent recommendations for all 4 of us. Her service bumps my review from a 4 to a 4.5, if google allowed. With slightly cheaper prices, they could become a 5.

The quality of the fish is unmatched in the city and the artists behind the counter know just what to do with it. Everything was expertly seasoned down to the perfectly-cooked rice. The price of our meal seemed absolutely fair for what we received, but there are plenty of under $50 options if you're on a budget but want a lovely experience. The menu is well crafted and intriguing, and we look forward to eating our way through it. Nice room, nice vibe, superior service, no notes.

Came to New Orleans looking for delicious food, but was not expecting to enjoy a meal reminiscent of my brief time in Japan. We took a chance on this sushi bar with a unique story partly because of the cocktails. Luckily, we were staying across the street and were able to be squeezed in without a reservation. It might not be a meal in Kyoto, but it was head and shoulders above any sushi I’ve had elsewhere in the states.

SerpAPI
The sushi was okay, music was loud, we had to wait a while in between dishes, which is understandable on a Friday night a couple of weeks they opened. Prices on their basic rolls were reasonable but the “fancy” rolls were definitely expensive. For the price, I was expecting them to be rolled better, our rolls came out looking messy. We tired it but will not be back. And we are definitely not fans of the 4% credit card transaction fee! They really should post notices of this fee.

Wow was I impressed! Bisutoro takes on a totally different experience for sushi lovers. They focus primarily on hand rolls which is very exciting as the chefs prepare so many wonderful pieces. The menu changes with the fish brought in from the Tokyo fish market making the quality and cut of each piece top notch. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and the comfort of countertop seating so my wife and I could watch the magic happen in real time.

Yelp
New favorite sushi spot in New Orleans! We arrived at the same time as a huge (14 person) table so service seemed a bit slower than usually but they were incredibly kind and apologetic (and honestly not terribly slow) which was all you could ask for! Server was very nice. And the outdoor seating was perfect on a fall night! We got the hamachi to start-- the jalapeño added a nice kick. Then, we got the satsuma roll and hand rolls. All the special rolls were delicious, especially soft shell crab and toro. Cocktails were great as well! The lychee martini was sweet but delicious. Come here!

Yelp
Loved dinner here! Fresh and creative rolls and Hamachi. Can't wait to go again. The presentation is great!

Yelp
The best in town by far! What a gem...albeit a small gem. Reservations are a must as it is small...did I mention it was small??

Yelp
This restaurant was amazing. I've had a really hard time finding great sushi in New Orleans and now I finally have. It is a small restaurant on magazine, causal to nicer casual vibe. The fish was super fresh and the combination of flavors were amazing. The best sashimi was the artic char, if you don't like salmon you might still like this. The spicy tuna crispy was cooked to perfection. The toro hand roll was great but the caviar add on is unnecessary. The rolls were amazing but the Muay Thai flavors, although may seem odd, worked perfectly together. The nigiri was great but the scallop was better without the lemon so you can really taste the quality of the fish. We also had some miso udon and green tea to start with. The miso broth was great and it was a nice simple spin on your normal miso soup. Definitely recommend, best sushi place I've been to in New Orleans so far.

Yelp
This is probably the best sushi spot I've been to in terms of having outstanding raw fish. They have an excellent selection of imported fish from Japan. Kanpachi and Aji are particularly nice. The toro here is outstanding. They use special oils and and exotic relishes to add massive flavor to the fish, and also stuff like preserved lemon or orange. The rolls are very good but I recommend the nigiri and sashimi specifically. If you like crazy rolls with tempura shrimp and cream cheese this is not your spot. If you like eating sushi with your bare hands and really enjoy good fish, definitely roll through.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere, great service, amazing quality sushi. TORO WAS AMAZING 10/10 want to try their Sunday happy hour $5 sake and $5 hand rolls. Will be back

Yelp
Definitely, our favorite local Japanese restaurant of all time. the shifts definitely knew what they were doing. All the dishes were fresh and unique. I didn't take photos of all the dishes we ordered, but I don't think you could order something you didn't like from this menu.

Yelp
10/10. This sushi was absolutely delicious, the staff were very nice, and the music was a perfect vibe. I'll be back. Weekly. I live down the street.

Yelp
New Orleans isn't known for its sushi... until now. The culinary artists at Bisutoro on Magazine serve up the freshest and most exceptionally unique Japanese fare. The sushi chefs come from diverse and strong backgrounds and are incredibly accomplished. The wait staff is outgoing, kind, friendly, and accommodating. The restaurant is dimly lit making the ambiance which is otherwise quaint very charming as well. Their choice of music not only drowns out the noise of others, but elevates the mood to another level. Enjoy.

Yelp
Amazing quality fish, creative rolls, incredible service. Some of the best sushi I've had - ever. Almost forgot to mention ..unique menu items - freshly grated wasabi, pickled wasabi. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place was really cute. It's a bit small but there's outside seating, bar seating and a few tables. Would not recommend for larger groups. The vibe was very laid back but with an upscale feel. Great for a friends meet up or a date night. We sat at the bar. Service was a plus. Emma was sooooo great! She was attentive and made recommendations that were fire! I had an espresso martini that was delicious. We ordered the chef choice sushi, the sea dream, and something else that I don't recall the name of. The sea dream was pretty good. Everything was fresh and tasted great. The place is a bit pricey, but I'd go back. I plan to check them out again on a Sunday evening for the Sake Social when they have $5 hand rolls and sake.

Yelp
Had the pleasure to find this great sushi spot while visiting New Orleans. The sushi is very creative and high quality. Their Muay Thai roll is an example of that delicious creativity. Their chefs and wait staff were so friendly and welcoming we came back a second night. This place will definitely be one of the experiences we'll most miss from New Orleans.

Yelp
I'm a little late to the party apparently. Wow! It's intimate, decor is a vibe and so is the music. Gabe was a great server. I told Chef Ryan to do his thing and surprise me. It was absolutely delicious! I've been wanting to try Uni. He made it happen. It's hard to find a decent place in Nola for lunch. As a Mom, I take full advantage of daytime lunches with friends but also, a place I can get some online work done. I will be back and suggest you try it out as well.

Veronica S.

Yelp
Visited here today. The food was great but I was sitting at the sushi bar and it was slightly unsettling watching the chefs be very rude to the waitstaff regarding the other customers. I watched the chef snap at two servers multiple times through my meal. Very distasteful.

Carson R.

Yelp
I had been here before and it was honestly decent. But the other weekend I tried to get dinner and the waitresses ignored me the entire time. I stood inside waiting while the waitresses ignored me as they passed by for 10-15 minutes until the sushi chef told them something multiple times. Not even like a "sorry be with you soon" nothing. Then she sat my boyfriend and our dog outside and just never came back. It wasted like 40 minutes lol.

Yelp
Over all I found this spot to be the BEST sushi I have ever had, everything was fresh, delicious, we went rouge and the chef didn't disappoint... Totally love the fact it's all RAW!
google avatar

Alexa R.

Yelp
The fish was so fresh! Service was so friendly and quick. The back room was a little cold given the weather but the area was very cute. We split everything and it was all soooo delicious. I'll definitely be back! The overall price was less than expected. Loved it!

Yelp
i work down the block from this place, and have been wanting to try it! so i decided to stop by after work for the sake social, because why not. i just wanted to grab a quick dinner before i headed home. i just got handrolls, because again, it was just me and i didn't want anything heavy. they were okay. there wasn't anything spectacular about the quality of the fish or anything. the seaweed was also a little soggy when i got it, which i'm assuming because it was sitting before being brought out to me. overall a forgettable experience. service was okay. it seems very hectic in there, and i wish they had a host stand or something because i was standing around looking lost before a waitress came up to me to help me out. one other gripe i have is that they charged me $10 for water! i was asked by the waitress "still or sparkling?" and when i said "still" i was under the assumption of getting regular water. nothing was said about the aqua pana being $10. perhaps don't make the assumption when someone says still they want to be charged $10? i paid for it because i drank whatever water was given to me, but it was surprising when my bill was double what i was expecting.

Yelp
Underwhelming, but nice to have the option of some high market fish if you're in the mood. Do yourself a favor and skip the fish cracklins. They were literal fish sticks and overcooked and grease. They bore zero resemblance to the photograph the owner posted here on Yelp. The sashimi plate was full of the same old fish choices you can find anywhere-skip that and just go for the premium fish.

Yelp
My friends and I visited after seeing Bisutoro on Instagram and it was really good -- very fresh, lots of variety to choose from, and even vegetarian options. We went for the Sunday afternoon special for hand rolls and sake, which I highly recommend to try a variety of the fish offered. On the downside, they are growing quickly so the demand has been higher than the supply can keep up with. Quite a few things were not available on the menu and the service was slow paced. The restaurant is decorated very chic and modern, but it is small so be sure to make reservations in advance. They have no website or phone number, though, so it is hard to contact if you have any questions or need to make last minute reservations changes. Overall I definitely recommend for a group of 2 to 3 sushi lovers!
google avatar

Yelp
The fish is fresh and delicious. Great cocktails with a Japanese flair. And the staff is wonderful Definitely coming back

Maddy D.

Yelp
I have eaten at Bisutoro many times as I live nearby. Pros: Most importantly, the food is overall very good. There are some rolls I don't like the flavor combos on but generally the quality of fish is great. The hand roll Sunday special is worth it. Cons: Weird vibes. The staff including management is pretty subpar, mostly negligent, and rude with the exception of the sushi chefs who I really like (sit at the sushi bar). Bartenders are only good at making drinks on the menu (e.g., don't order a martini here). Most importantly on the cons list is that this place is pretty expensive. If you want the sashimi to be nigiri instead, for example, it's double the cost (for just rice). There are now a few high quality sushi options in the city and I am less inclined to come back here mostly because of what the bill ends up being for an experience I don't really enjoy when you add in the weird trendy music and bad service. And whatever you do, don't order the $4 cucumber appetizer which is just really under seasoned sliced cucumber.

Yelp
Not what I was expecting. Pros & cons. First and foremost, was culturally shocked to be in a Japanese restaurant with all caucasian staff / cooks. Never experienced that before. Loses the "authenticity" of the food genre for me. Food was good but small portions and overpriced IMO. Our 8 piece roll was $19, for very tiny pieces. We're used to "pricey California" sushi which would've been $8-$10 for the same item.
google avatar

Daniel V.

Yelp
Excellent quality sushi. The omikase nigiri was great. The toro nigiri with truffle and caviar was delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Very ok spot. We hit up Bisutoro with another couple and were seated in a back room. Service was solid. Cannot complain about the ambiance or workers. Food was just pretty good. We had a few things that were solid but most of what we had felt like very pedestrian sushi which was priced with a premium. We asked the waitress to just feed us. The chef set the menu and just brought out a whole lot of dishes. The volume of food was appropriate but I cannot really remember exactly what we had. In the end, the place was decent but we will likely not go back. On the upside, it's within walking distance from Parish Parlor, which is my new favorite ice cream spot in town. Excellent.

Tina M.

Yelp
Everything was amazing! My husband and I stopped in for a quick lunch and can't wait to go back! The food was top notch and drinks were on point! The bartender and the rest of the staff were very friendly and gave us some amazing suggestions.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Great spot for date night! Super small and intimate setting, lots of great cocktail options, and plenty of shareable dishes. Everything we had was tasty, especially the crème brûlée flan we had for dessert! Definitely worth making a reservation, because space is limited. A little bit pricey in relation to the portion sizes (slightly smaller portions than expected), but worth splurging for a night out or special occasion.
google avatar

Walker Z.

Yelp
This place is great for a date night. My fiancée and I sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender about which dishes to order. He gave us great recommendations. Order a lot of different things because the menu is full of variety! We will be back again soon.
google avatar

Nathan H.

Yelp
Our out of town doctor friend Josh wanted to go somewhere new so we tried Bisutoro out on a Friday night. AWESOME experience from the time we walked in the door until we ate an amazing dessert. Olivia gave excellent customer service and every bite was delightful. We will definitely be back and bring all our friends and tell our own customers to come here!
google avatar

Yelp
I saw this place on a walk and decided to stop in. The Duck Tataki is a DO NOT MISS!!!! Great addition to this stretch of Magazine. Can't wait to go back. Service was beyond amazing.

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
Good food, no regular sushi menu on Sunday. I wish they had made that clear when we reserved. I really wanted standard Omikase. We were there for the Sake Social - we had some excellent hand rolls and Sake. The servers were dressed a little sexier than I was expecting, if that matters to you lol. Good vibe and good food though.

Julia B.

Yelp
Generally good sushi not sure what happened with these cuts of salmon nigiri though. We asked to return it as this is not the quality of sushi we went out for especially at the price point but we're told it was the belly and the best cut of fish. While I understand that, the way sushi is cut absolutely matters. Similarly, the tuna sashimi was very thick, but tasty. Disappointed as we liked this place. I would have I would recommend the toro maki and dumplings though. Cocktails are also super tasty.
google avatar

Benjamin M.

Yelp
Food is excellent and fairly priced but the wine and drink prices are astronomical. They don't have a wine or drink menu so you just get blindsided by a ridiculous charge. Go there for the food but do not order any alcohol.
google avatar

Russell J.

Yelp
It's pricey but worth every penny. Best sushi place I've been to in New Orleans, and it's not even close. Great drinks and sake and if you're lucky and they have Bluefin Toro hand rolls available, don't even think about it, just get it.

Anna T.

Yelp
Don't bother. Mediocre quality, over priced.

Lala V.

Yelp
Been here a few times since they recently opened. Great spot overall. The Baja hamachi was excellent. I liked the bulgogi dumplings well enough but would probably pass on them next time and just focus on the fish. The sashimi and sushi is excellent. The rolls are good but the sashimi is where it's at. I don't know of a place with fresher fish than this in the area (Yakuza house and Nagomi are the other contenders). I did try some of the fancy drink specials and they were good, but thought the regular house cocktails were just as good (and significantly cheaper). Nice selection of sake too.
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Fantastic!! Fresh & inventive sushi, lovely cocktails, warm & attentive staff. Cute and fulfilling place.
google avatar

Ava T.

Yelp
Absolutely one out of top 3 favorite/best sushi spots in New Orleans. They have the freshest fish, the chefs are super knowledgeable and sweet, good wine selection & cocktails, sexy ambiance, and they aren't afraid to be bold/get experimental with their combos if you like trying new things. Love everything about it.

Sabrina H.

Yelp
Wow, where do I begin. The hubby and i ended up here for a date night. We thought, eh, we have a kid free night let's take a gamble on some place new. Well let me tell you...The service, the food, the drinks, the atmosphere....WERE IMPECCABLE. We sat at the bar. Our chefs were amazing, even offering samples. Gabe was our server/bartender with A1 crafts and offering samples as well. Do yourself the favor, dine in here...AT THE BAR.

Yelp
Dumplings were amazing and large in size, but sushi was just okay. Sashimi all tasted very similar. Waitress offered the "drink special" for the night- a Japanese margarita and it was $19 for about 6 oz. It was very sweet so I asked for a double for my next round and it turned out to be $29 without warning of the price. The atmosphere was nice but it is small on the inside of the restaurant. I really wanted to LOVE this place, but a casual dinner for 2 people ended up being about $200 for not a lot of food and I ended up ordering food when I got home. I don't understand the 5 star reviews here but I wish I would've been able to rate this place 5 stars! Maybe better next time?

Vanessa J.

Yelp
This place is so good! We got the sushi rolls and they were so fresh and amazing! The waitresses were so kind and helpful. Highly recommend id you're in New Orleans and looking for sushi.

Renee F.

Yelp
Freshest fish in the city. Hand rolls were amaze balls. Dumplings were to D-I-E for. Love their spin on sushi. Will definitely be back.

Cat L.

Yelp
Very cute and intimate inside. My favorite was the monkfish liver (I would not recommend it if you haven't had it before, but if you have expensive taste like me, I though it was the highlight of my dinner). The rolls were carefully made and full of flavor. Can't wait to go back.

R L.

Yelp
The food was delicious, but there were so many highly fragranced candles it was difficult to taste the subtleties of the sushi.

Mark B.

Yelp
My favorite place for sushi in New Orleans! Small space so go early or make sure you have a reservation. Chef and servers are all super friendly and the signature rolls are to die for. My favorites are the bahn miso, and the satsuma. Steak and potatoes are also delicious

Tyler W.

Yelp
Services was great. Food & drinks were good, but not worth the price especially given the quantity. The biggest issue however was being charged for paying with a credit card. You can't be an upscale sushi restaurant and also do that. Very off putting.

Christine D.

Yelp
Such a fantastic addition to the neighborhood. Delicious sushi and cocktails. Has become one of our favorite spots.
