My goodness gracious *insert sweat emoji* what an experience!
Some friends expressed interest in visiting the Blind Tiger for a birthday meal. In traditional fashion, I called last minute to see if they could accommodate a large group of over 8 people. I didn't think they would, but we were able to get a reservation. The guy I spoke to on the phone was really nice, clear, and polite! I was so grateful to him for getting us in.
Parking here is dreadful, and so we did the "Drop and go" and half our party showed up to check in while the other half meandered around the area for viable parking.
When we arrived, we checked in and the hostess (who was warm and smiley) was aware of our party and had us stand to the side to chill and wait as our area got prepared. It was a chilly night and it seemed to be outdoor dining only. After 15 minutes, we got seated in a tented area with two long tables and benches. We all fit comfortably, and got our menus.
It was essentially downhill from here. We had a young server who was clearly way in over his head for a large party. He seemed a bit erratic, nervous, and had a hard time following our orders. We started with apps - brussels, cheese corn, kimchi pancake, curry fries. By the time this guy got around the table, the other side of the table was ready to put in our actual meal orders and so we had him come back around to put it our meal orders at the same time.
Ordering took close to 15-20 minutes total with him repeating everything back to us incorrectly after we just told him what we wanted LOL. I'm usually pretty patient but at this point half the party was exasperated and I was too.
Turns out he still forgot to submit like half the orders and had to come back and reconfirm once again, then go back and put in the other half. We got mostly all our apps except the curry fries, and one guy ended up walking up to the bar to pay for them separately (and apparently this counted as splitting the bill, but we didn't know) so he could get it to-go and leave, as he had another event to head to. Doing this didn't solve anything, as it took another 30 minutes from then to get his fries, and this was after everything else at the table came out. He was livid, but got his fries and left.
My friend and I ordered the spicy pork and a tofu soup. Both these things should be eaten with rice. We didn't get the rice for about 40 minutes and we ended up asking several other servers since ours went MIA. I think we were there for about 2.5 hours.
Overall the food was pretty tasty, except it all came out at varying times and so some things were cold, soggy, etc while others were hot and fresh. Another server did eventually come by and refill our water for us and he apologized on behalf of the other server who showed up towards the end of the meal.
I think I would visit again, but maybe with a smaller party and hopefully we're seated in a more visible area so our server doesn't forget us :P
