"Vegan specialist Bloom Plant Based Kitchen will close after service on Saturday, February 21, 2026, with chef-owner Rodolfo Cuadros saying the restaurant "is not ending, it is transforming" and hinting that a new concept will follow. The team plans to celebrate over the coming weeks with special menus and dishes, and Bloom’s story began as a virtual restaurant operating out of Cuadros’s first restaurant, Amaru, during the pandemic before opening in Wicker Park in 2021." - Jeffy Mai

"Bloom is vegan and gluten-free spot from the same chef as Amaru, which has a lot of great vegetarian dishes. So it’s no surprise that Bloom’s long menu is full of hits. Like the squash blossom-filled tamal topped with a rich mole, a tomato pizza with sweet tamarind saba and a cauliflower crust, and some truly wonderful mushroom asada tacos. And a lot of the dishes on the menu are also raw, so this place works well for a variety of dietary needs. The space keeps with the theme—it’s filled with plants and is bright enough that you won’t worry if said plants are getting enough light." - sam faye, adrian kane, john ringor
"Bloom is a vegan spot in Wicker Park from the same chef as Amaru, which has a lot of great vegetarian dishes. So it’s no surprise that Bloom’s long menu is full of hits. Like the crispy oyster mushrooms with gochujang, pea risotto, or stuffed piquillos with roasted corn and smoked tempeh. And a lot of the dishes are gluten-free and nut-free, so this place works well for a variety of dietary needs. The space keeps with the theme—it’s filled with plants and is bright enough that you won’t worry if said plants are getting enough light." - adrian kane, john ringor
