"Blossom & Root has always served a plant-based menu since its opening in 2023, and now former Lazy Bear co-chef Chris Johnson is leading the charge as the new executive chef at this Danville restaurant. There are familiar brunch items on the menu, including a tofu scramble breakfast burrito and chilaquiles, but delve deeper and find new items such as mushroom lettuce cups and the Buffalo funghi sandwich, made with crispy maitake mushrooms and Fresno hot sauce. Notably, most items on the menu are dairy- and gluten-free." - Dianne de Guzman, Lauren Saria

"Blossom and Root in Danville is a new restaurant touting an all-plant-based menu that highlights in-season produce. Take the colorful summer poke, for instance, featuring a melange of carrots, watermelon radish, pickled cucumber, and marinated tomatoes among other vegetables, as well as larger-format items like the funghi sando made with crispy maitake and creamy slaw. The restaurant also offers a list of nonalcoholic drinks, plus beer, wine, and wine-based cocktails, including a variety of fresh juice mimosas in flavors such as blood orange and mango-jalapeno." - Dianne de Guzman

Blossom & Root Kitchen is a restaurant that can be enjoyed by plant based and non plant based eaters alike! The food was excellent, the atmosphere was so unique and cheerful, and the staff were so welcoming & pleasant! The Brentwood Corn Chowder was amazing! So flavorful!! We had potato salad as a side with the crab cake sandwich, and it was also delicious! The crab cake sandwich was also good, but the chowder and our side were our favorites. It’s great to go out and be treated so well! Good customer service seems like a thing of the past, but not here! The staff seemed genuinely interested & proud of the food that is served here. We will be back!! So thankful to have a plant based restaurant that we can enjoy in our area!

Cute, clean bright space. Our waiter was especially kind and helpful. We loved the appetizer crab cakes and the vegetable pesto sandwich with vegan cheese was delicious. The B&R burger was equally flavorful though I personally favor a burger with a more "meaty" texture. The drinks were imaginative and fun. See photos of the Blue Mermaid drink.

Blossom and Root is a sunny and uplifting dining experience. Staff are extremely friendly and organized as a team. They all worked together to make sure each table was taken care of properly. Joe our server, expertly paced out our meal, allowing us to savor each bite. To drink, we began with The Mermaid, the Chai Espresso Martini along with Crispy Rice & Mushroom Lettuce Cups. My husband said that the first course was 500 times better than he thought it was going to be. The drinks are creative, playful, and delicious. Our lettuce cups with the killer au jus had simple flavors that danced together brilliantly. It lit up our appetite and curiosity. We were ready to try more from the menu. Next, we shared a bowl of Mushroom Chowder along with the B&R Smash Burger accompanied with coleslaw. Too bad we were seated near people because we wanted to lick the plates clean. Again, everything was well thought out and executed. We appreciated how folks came to fill up our water without asking and never rushed us. Joe our server was very friendly and welcoming. For dessert, we went with Joe’s guidance and had the Chocolate S’more Mousse along with 2 cappuccinos. What can I say, other than to quote my husband who said, “This is the best vegan meal I have ever had—and I am a meat man!” Thank you, Joe and everyone who helped make this afternoon out tasty and memorable!

I've been waiting for this restaurant to open for a very long time. Even though the menu was limited, everything we had was delicious. The lemon slice fritters were wonderful!. The poke bowl had too much rice yet it was very tasty. A lot more dishes to try and will be back again. The service was very good too. This is like the Wildseed (a vegan restaurant in San Francisco and Palo Alto) of the east bay. My second time here and it was Swiss chef Kamber making his favorite dishes. This time we ordered almost everything on the menu and enjoyed it all. Don't miss out on the Swiss fare. The three course option was filling as the food was very rich. Third time for lunch. This place keeps their menu fresh for a Saturday brunch. Their mocktails are also very refreshing. Nothing to not like in this place. Their tofu scramble was amazing.

You don't have to be vegan to enjoy this restaurant. Hi! I'm John. I am not vegan, but my lactose intolerance does not allow me to eat cheese. So when I saw the Mac and cheese, I was like, yes please. Id ordered the fritter too. Then I split a Caesar salad too. Soups were ordered at the table too. We left full, happy. When you have restrictions to your diet, id say this place is a good place to go.

In the heart of San Ramon lies Blossom and Root Kitchen, an epicurean haven that transcends the mere act of dining to embody the Stoic principles of mindful indulgence and culinary excellence. Stepping into this gastronomic sanctuary, one is immediately enveloped in an ambiance of understated elegance, where every detail, from the warm lighting to the inviting decor, speaks to a reverence for simplicity and authenticity. Our dining experience began with the Roasted Cauliflower—a masterful rendition of a humble vegetable elevated to extraordinary heights through careful preparation and exquisite seasoning. Each bite offered a symphony of flavors, a testament to the chef's artistry and commitment to sourcing the finest ingredients. Next, we embarked on a journey of culinary discovery with the Tofu Katsu Sandwich—a harmonious union of textures and tastes that delighted the senses and nourished the soul. The crispy exterior of the tofu gave way to a tender interior, while the accompaniments provided a delightful contrast of flavors, resulting in a dish that was both comforting and invigorating. To complement our meal, we savored a cup of Mushroom Chowder—a velvety concoction that warmed us from within and left a lingering impression of earthy richness. Each spoonful was a revelation, a reminder of the transformative power of simple ingredients when treated with care and respect. As we concluded our dining experience at Blossom and Root Kitchen, we couldn't help but reflect on the Stoic virtues embodied by this establishment—moderation, discernment, and appreciation for the present moment. In a world filled with noise and distraction, this oasis of culinary excellence offers a respite for the weary soul, inviting us to savor each moment and find solace in the simple pleasures of good food and good company.

Google
Fantastic plant based meal in Danville!!!! We stumbled upon this place not knowing much about it and absolutely loved it! We are already planning our next visit. We are not vegan, but both pescatarian and my wife is dairy free, so this place worked great for us. We had to the fresh bread with vegan cheese and butter appetizer, the fritters and my wife had the mushroom chowder, and I had the Funghi Sando. We finished the meal with the Oreo dessert. Everything was a 10+ and our server, Samatha was warm, sweet, knowledgeable and extremely pleasant. We will be back soon and continue to visit this restaurant in the coming years. Even if you aren’t plant based, vegan, or vegetarian, give this place a shot, the food is amazing!!!!

Very disappointing. I was so excited to try this new vegan restaurant. We got there as soon as they opened and placed our take-out order. We were told it should be ready in about 10 mins. Thirty- five minutes later we got our order. The wait staff were very apologetic. We ordered a number of items and are including comments on each of them to give you more insight on whether or not you want to give this place a try. We'll start with the B&R burger. It shouldn't be called a burger due to the mushy texture. It should be called a mushroom melt. The only resemblance it had to a burger was the bun. I wouldn't get it again. Next the Mac n Cheese, was another missed opportunity. It tasted more like a macaroni salad. It had a vinegary taste to it. Three people took a bite and no one went back for more. The veggie pesto sandwich was very messy. The peppers were too large and overall the veggies were not seasoned well. The final item, was the only real winner of our order... and that was the Citrus Beet Salad. That was very tasty, but it will take more than a good beet salad to give this restaurant another chance in my book.

Yelp
The service was very good. The food was good but I guess I am not really a vegan. It's worth a try.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night for dinner with the boo. We were very eager to explore what this restaurant had to offer in terms of vegan (and gluten free) items, and boy we were impressed! We were seated right away and had a lovely server. Loved the decor with all the hanging plants (screams the crazy plant lady in me...) I started off with a Mandarin Mojito, which was delicious. It's fruity and tangy, but refreshing like a spritzer. #'Crab' Cakes - as someone who's a self-proclaimed crab lover, I wouldn't say the texture was the same, BUT they were really delicious. These were crispy on the outside and slightly gooey on the inside with some texture (?stringiness) from the mushroom. Loved the pickled onions on top to add a bite of acidity. #Smash Burger - We got this with a side of potato salad. The first round came out with burnt buns, which rendered the burger inedible. We conveyed this to our server, and were quickly given a new burger on the house to enjoy. The potato salad was delicious; I like it with a tang of mustard, which this definitely delivered. The burger itself was also quite good. I can't believe the bread was gluten free! #Mushroom Steak Salad - This was the winner of the night. I still couldn't believe the 'blue cheese' was actually cashew based! The mushrooms were cooked to perfection and had such a wonderfully 'meaty' flavor and texture. I'd turn vegan for this salad alone. All in all a wonderful meal service. There were some hiccups with one of the entrees, however we were met with wonderful service and quick resolutions. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

Yelp
This restaurant is fantastic and does not disappoint on ANY level. Service - super friendly and informative. Ambiance - gorgeously decorated, cozy and modern. Love the unique dishware and straws (yes, I speak of the very cool different-colored metal straws). Food - EVERYTHING we had was superb. Very well thought out and completely delicious. It pleased my entire party (of all ages and food preferences). Overall, this place is a MUST TRY!

Yelp
Find me on Instagram @happiest_whenimeating. What a wonderful find! Wanted outdoor seating and found a nice restaurant that had one. I ordered the grilled artichoke which was absolutely fantastic, probably one of the best one I've ever had! Service here was great between the host and the waiter they were absolutely attentive and super nice! The lemon Chia pudding was just so so, it didn't have much of a lemon flavor but maybe because it was made out of nuts? I will definitely have to try some other dishes. I love the outdoor seating as it had lots of room and in a great location. My only complaint was the cushions on the chairs were not as comfortable as they look. The place gets busy at dinner time so I would recommend making reservations. It's a great location and the menu seems fantastic for those who are looking for vegan meals. Overall, I would definitely come to this restaurant again.!

Yelp
I dined here on a Wednesday evening and was fortunate to find parking nearby. The restaurant wasn't crowded, which was a pleasant surprise. Upon entering, I was greeted by a lovely lady who told me to grab a menu and sit wherever I pleased. The restaurant is small and charming, with a few outdoor seats as well. Though we're not vegan, we decided to give this place a try, and I'm glad we did. The food was excellent! We ordered the crab cake, mushroom steak salad, bucatini puttanesca, and the apple caramel dessert. Everything was so delicious that I could consider going vegan if I could eat like this every day. Our server was incredibly nice and attentive, making sure we enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
What an amazing surprise! We had no plans but just stopped by at Danville and stopped by here as it was a vegan spot. Such a cozy little place, you can tell there was a lot of thought out into ensuring the place feels welcoming. Service was top notch! Joe (hopefully do not have his name wrong) is so good at making a connection and also giving your group space to enjoy their time. The best for the last. Food is sooo good. We did not have a full meal but the sourdough oh my god, I can drive from San Jose to just have the mushroom sourdough toast, sooo good. Grilled cheese was yum! Blue cheese this was the first time I had a vegan blue cheese and from what I can recollect cannot tell. Drinks are tasty as well and the coffee was also really good.

Yelp
First time here. The atmosphere is great, we sat outside on a nice sunny morning. We ordered bloody Mary's and my high degree of judgement approved the taste and spice. The crab cakes took forever due to some technical issue with the fryer. Once they finally arrived, The sauce on the crab cakes was amazing, and the bread was a bit too much, so they were just ok. Also, They were SO hot that I burned the roof of my mouth really bad that it took a few days to heel. In total, $95 for two drinks and two meals is a bit rich for me so I don't think the experience carries enough weight for me to want to return and spend that much.

Yelp
I never would have chosen a vegan restaurant as a go to as I'm a carnivore. But for a very special friend birthday I found myself faced with all Vegan dishes of brussel sprouts, root vegetables, mushrooms, and an extraordinary chocolate moose made with gods knows what All fantastic and beautiful in presentation as the picture attest. The presentations were out of this world. Just really works of art. The star of the show was the Curry. Steph would have been proud. I was skeptical, bt now I'm a convert. Fantastic staff and location in beautiful downtown Danville

Jovina B.

Yelp
This should be a Michelin starred restaurant! The food, service and ambiance is excellent. We ordered the roasted cauliflower, brussel sprouts and crab cakes to start with. They were all delicious and flavorful. In fact, they were so good, we ordered more to take home. For the main dish, we had the mushroom steak salad, fungi sardo, tofu katsu and mushroom chowder. Everyone enjoyed their meal and were pretty impressed on how good they are. We also tried their cocktails, mocktails and beer. They were all incredibly tasty and refreshing. Lots of street parking but there is a parking lot close by with 2-4 hour limit. Service was awesome. Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable and patient. He answered all our questions and was very attentive. I couldn't remember his name. I love everything about this restaurant. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely make the drive to eat here.

Yelp
Blossom & Root- a charming vegan restaurant, exceeded my expectations with its delightful array of plant-based dishes. I had the pleasure of trying their mushroom sandwich, Mac and cheese, Brussel sprouts, mushroom chowder and cookie desert. However, the mushroom burger, was a true culinary masterpiece. The succulent mushrooms were perfectly seasoned, creating a savory symphony of flavors that left my taste buds dancing. What sets Blossom apart is their commitment to quality ingredients. Each element in the sandwich showcased the freshness and thoughtfulness that goes into their menu. The bread was a delightful combination of softness and crustiness, providing the ideal vessel for the savory mushrooms and accompanying toppings. The ambiance at Blossom & Root is warm and inviting, creating a pleasant dining experience. The staff's friendly and knowledgeable approach enhanced my visit, making me feel genuinely welcomed. If you're a fan of vegan cuisine or simply looking to explore plant-based options, Blossom is a must-visit. Their mushroom sandwich and Mac and cheese is a testament to the creativity and skill present in their kitchen. I highly recommend this restaurant for a satisfying and flavorful vegan dining experience. They even put a candle on the cookie to celebrate a birthday we were having. I will be coming back here very soon!

Yelp
Just left Blossom & Roots after have a tasty lunch here with my friend. I love trying new restaurants especially vegan, one that's rare in our area. Mushrooms are my thing, so of course I had to try the Mushroom Chowder AND the Fungi Sando. Both were just absolutely delicious! The chowder was perfect on this cold day. It was full of flavor, with the nice crouton, and slice of grilled sourdough bread. It was perfect cup size since I was ordering a sandwich. Now I wished I ordered the bowl size as I was licking my spoon toward the end. Onto the sando. Wow. I never expected it to taste like a mid size burger. The pickled jalapeño, Cole slaw, the lightly battered mushroom sandwiched between a grilled crispy and "buttery" bun. So scrumptious and filling at the same time that I didn't even have dessert. Next time. There was a nice lady sitting next to us that shared that she loved the Caesar salad that she came back a 2nd time just for it. It got me so curious especially seeing as the table around us were ordering just that. So many amazing dishes that coming out of the open kitchen which I had a good view from where I was seated. I am almost tempted to come back for dinner tonight. Yes. It was that good. The only downside was that after we finished enjoying our soup, with bowls collected, there was a long wait til our mains came. When the food arrive, we were told that the kitchen put the bulldog sauce of my friend's inside vs on the side. Also, the side I requested for my sandwich was wrong. I was given potato salad instead of kale/ sweet potato. We were enjoying our conversations and taking photos that I didn't bother to ask them to change it, since we waited long enough for our food and didn't want to wait any longer. We were hungry and wanted to eat. My friend and I decided to share half our sandos and sides so we could try it all. I love potato salad but this one needed more umph to it, and a pinch of salt. Same with the fried tofu. Both lacked flavor and would have made a huge difference with a bit of seasoning/ salt.

Yelp
I was so excited to see a vegan restaurant in downtown Danville! We easily made a reservation online and sat inside to meet some family for dinner. We got the Fried Fritters and beet appetizer to share both were good. We shared the two pasta dishes on the menu. One was a spicy one which we both thought was just okay and a little too spicy. Another was the pesto pasta which we both really liked and would get again. We ordered the regular piece of bread on the side which was good and the gluten free bread which we found a little too seedy for our preference. The Spiced Apple Pain De Mie was delicious and we shared it as a table. It can get petty loud inside when there is a full restaurant but we didn't mind. The service was friendly and helpful with any questions we had. We loved the fritters so much we got them again when we went for lunch they had potato, carrots and cauliflower. I love the fact they change seasonally! We also ordered the Mac and cheese which had potato chips and crunchy onions it was so delicious as well. We both agreed the fritters are our favorite though. I can't wait to try more here next time I'm in the area!

Yelp
A friend suggested going here for lunch last week. Looked interesting and yummy. I'm not vegan, but I am always curious about the menu items at a vegan restaurant. The place is cute and cozy in downtown Danville. The restaurant was mostly full with about 3 tables left. Fortunately, we got a table without a reservation. Our waiter was attentive, socialable, and shared menu recommendations when asked. My friend had the roasted cauliflower, grilled broccolini and mushroom steak salad. I had a taste of her two appetizers and both were yummy and beautifully presented. I had the funghi Sando with butternut squash pear bisque. I really enjoyed the Sando and the bisque hit the spot on a cold rainy day. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great lunch place. I haven't been here for dinner, but I'm sure it'll be great as well. I'm sure I'll visit again.

Nessa R.

Yelp
New favorite place! The staff are the most friendliest people and the restaurant itself is so cute. I love the decor and table settings and am in awe of how delicious the food is. The mac and cheese was unbelievable. I couldn't believe there was no actual cheese. My maitake mushroom sandwich was perfect. I loved the mushroom, the sauce, the slight sweetness of it and the kale salad was great to pair along with it. The strawberry cocktail had fresh strawberries from their garden out back and I loved it. My husband loved his burger as well. I cannot wait to come back and try the other menu items. Perhaps, we'll come back for dinner next time :)

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place after a long hike to Danville, and were pleasantly surprised! The outside of the restaurant looked inviting and nicely decorated, so we decided to stop by. Off the bat, the inside of the restaurant was lovely, with nice decorations and a warm ambiance. We got helped very fast, and the service was superb. As for the food, I have never eaten anything like it. The menu is short and sweet, with many delicious vegan options for everyone. We had no idea it was a vegan restaurant, nor are we vegan/vegetarian, but would go back again and again. The appetizers are unique and fresh, and the soups were just incredible. The meals are packed with unexpected flavor combinations, and are just so delicious. I am not one to enjoy mushrooms, but the mushroom lettuce boats were off the charts, even for me. Not to mention, the cocktails/mocktail list was fun! For anyone looking for a fresh and fun brunch/lunch/dinner, this is the spot to visit!

Yelp
Atmosphere - cannot be beat. It's so cute, with the wallpapers (even in the bathroom) and decor. All reflect the nature/vegan theme. (Look for the little bee in the bathroom fixture). Service was also great, attentive and prompt. -Mushroom Chowder was good, with a nice thick texture. -Butternut Squash Pear Bisque was also good. Sounded like an odd combo to me, but it was actually really good, with good texture. -The Mushroom Steak Salad was amazing. It is pretty good sized, so the 4 of us shared it. Wonderful mushroom taste. The pears and apples added a nice crunch. -The Masa Cake entree was great! Excellent flavor with the poblano mixed into the masa, and great sauce too. -The Roasted Vegetable Yellow Curry was good, with a nice variety of vegetables, and a good curry sauce. -For dessert, we had the Lemon Chia pudding and the Chocolate Oreo S'more Mousse. Both were excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. I am not a vegan or vegetarian, but I enjoy all foods done well. This was a really stellar experience with good food. At

Yelp
I've been vegetarian for almost 13 years now and I am SHOCKED and SURPRISED that there is a plant based restaurant in Danville! We've come a long way!!! It used to be so hard to find a vegetarian option at most restaurants... so the fact that there's a dedicated plant based restaurant in Danville and it's busy, is absolutely amazing! Love to see it!! We made reservations here as we were a party of 8. The restaurant is super cute and has a nice ambiance. Loved all the decor. Outside looks nice to eat too! The staff are really nice and helpful too. We came for Sunday dinner. It seems to get really busy, so I recommend making reservations. I think the menu frequently changes so make sure you're looking at the right online menu if you're looking at the menu before going. We ordered: -The mermaid: loved this drink! It was super fun to pour and it was yummy -Maple glazed brussels: it was good -Mac n cheese: we really liked it -Crab cakes: it was good -Bread plate: some pieces were good, some were ok -Mushroom chowder: good, tastes like real chowder (in my opinion) -B*R smash burger: we really liked it -Tofu katsu sandwich: I ordered this and it was good, but a little dry -Lemon chia pudding: this was good! -Chocolate oreo s'more mouse: we really liked this I think we ordered some other food but I forget what we got. Overall, the food was good and it was a great option for meat eaters wanting to try plant based food. It was a bit expensive though and I felt some of the food was a little dry. We really liked the desserts! I'm not sure if I'd come back because the price seemed high for what the food was, but maybe I'd return again! I definitely recommend trying it out though! My sister said the kids menu was probably the best kid menu option she's ever seen at restaurants! It was healthy & yummy! Definitely recommend going here and supporting them!!

Yelp
What a beautiful restaurant! I love the decor, the ambience, the art and walls. Everything felt like an illustrated storybook. We sat outside in the patio and although it was a chilly evening, the heat lamp did its job keeping us warm. We also got to meet the owner Susan who was so lovely. What a great lady! Service was amazing! Olivia waited on us and she was just a delight. She gave us great food descriptions which helped us decide on what to order. Their cocktails are unique and crafty. All are wine-based. My friend ordered: Spiced Pear Sparkler - It looked so pretty with a sliver of pear smiling at you inside the glass. For dinner, we ordered: Masa Cake - Very good! Sweet from the corn and so delicious and filling. The sauce was very flavorful which complemented the masa perfectly. Mushroom Chowder - Hearty and earthy with big chunks of mushroom. If you love mushrooms, this is a must. I wish it came in a bigger bowl and I would have only this for my meal. B&R Burger - I enjoyed the flavor of the patty but with the bread it got a little mushy. I really enjoyed the shoestring onions on top. They were crispy and helped give the burger more texture. The "cheese" was also satisfying. I wish we had room for dessert because the Spiced Apple Pain de Mie sounded delicious. Next time! Hopefully before they change their seasonal menu.

Yelp
This is my second review because it's THAT good. I'm so happy we found this hidden gem that is 100% plant based and has many gluten free options! We came on Easter Sunday excited to eat brunch but the host told us it was only reservation only due to the holiday. Thankfully the waitress, Hannah, over heard and sat us in her section. Hannah is absolutely exceptional! I appreciate her going out of her way to get us seated even without a reservation. Everything we ordered was gluten free! We got our daughter the gluten free Mac and cheese but they accidentally brought out one that has gluten. Hannah caught the mistake and kindly changed the order. The crab cake sandwich was well executed, but the gf bread was a little "doughy" in the middle. Hannah took it back and brought out extra crab cakes for us. Again, she is amazing for going above and beyond! We've been here before and the food is always amazing! I know this is their first day doing brunch and I was told they won't do it every weekend, but I hope they do! I also hope to see some gf pancake options in the future Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Been meaning to try this place since It opened it August. It's been so popular it's now open for lunch. Better have a reservation for dinner. This is more than a raw veggie and tofu green juice cleanse type of place. The decor is charming and stylish, it's like Anthropologie opened a restaurant. The dishes are artfully plated and inventive combinations of flavors and textures. The portions are extremely generous. We were so full we could not enjoy dessert but I saw several that I wanted to try! Will be back soon. What an inventive and interesting addition to downtown. Love it.

Yelp
the new year is coming up! And that means we are going to try and change our diet. That means you'll have to find new sources of food. Unless you grow your own. (Get chickens!) Blossom & Root is the place to start going now and beyond! The service is excellent! It's a family owned restaurant that believes in healthy families and good eats! The restaurant is also located in downtown Danville. So you are right in the heat of everything! I'll see you there! I recommend the Beet Salad and Lemon Chips! Go now!

Savannah H.

Yelp
This food is amazing! It's all fresh and super flavorful! Nothing on the menu tastes "basic". Flavors pop and dishes I've had a million times, they somehow make them taste 10x better and with their own twist. Joe behind the bar is the absolute best! When I get a drink here, I just order whatever he recommends, and usually just ask him to surprise me and his drinks are always so delicious. Their menu is vegan friendly but I'm not vegan and this is still my favorite place to come! The inside is really pretty and gives cottagecore/garden party vibes. Great for girls brunch, date spots and mid-day cocktail!

Rosie M.

Yelp
We were so excited to try Blossom and Root because we love Vegan restaurants and we're really sad when Veggie Grill closed in Walnut Creek! We walked into Blossom and Root and it looked so much better than the Basque restaurant it replaced because everything was clean and new. We started off with the lemon chips and dip. This was a very creative dish. My toddler loved it because the sourness and sweetness of the fried lemon slices just balanced out really well with the side dipping sauce. I ordered the grilled vegetable pesto pasta because I was very excited to try the East Bay artisan pasta. We also ordered the Summer poke because we love fresh vegetables and ingredients, in general. Unfortunately, we were not able to eat our entrees because the server spilled a glass of red wine all over me wearing a designer white blouse, over my toddler, on top of my mobile phone and she didn't know what to do so her coworker gave her club soda. Unfortunately, club soda will not rinse the wine off of your body and my soaked toddler who is soaked in wine now. We just had to leave. I don't think I can give this place another try if the same waitress is working there. I'm rating the restaurant with three stars because it's Vegan, clean, in a safe location and the manager, Carmelo, seems nice. He offered to pay for dry cleaning, phone repair, and apologized for the clumsy waitress but again my toddler is soaked in wine from the waitress which is not okay. I didn't give him my dry cleaning bill and took care of my phone by myself because I just can't walk back into the restaurant while I still feel the trauma, and don't like getting mad.

Yelp
1.) the food is pretty good, but some of the dishes lack flavor and are not prepared thoutfully. such as an uncut cesar salad with stale chickpeas, and the full rind. Other dishes like the crab cakes were good aswell as the drinks. mushroom sandwhich had too much bread, and it was bland and greasy. 2.) service is good, but almost seems fake and too routine. 3.) Ambiance is nice and comfy. : so why 3 stars? We got 2 small appetizers, 1 salad, and 1 Entree, and 1 drink. This added up to $120. When the food is mediocre, and this expensive it is a real shame. I wont want to come back until things change. As a vegan myself I really hope blossom and root can change and improve there restaurant. :)

Yelp
I'm not sure about the ambience or the service because I ordered this through Caviar. The food was delicious. The fungi sando was probably one of the best I've had so far. The oyster mushrooms were still very crispy, a great match with the coleslaw. The bun was toasted on the outside and soft inside. The sauce balanced the sandwich perfectly. I also enjoyed the mushroom chowder. The broth was thick and creamy. Love the flavor. It had a very fresh taste as if the mushrooms were just recently picked and the crispy of bread was the perfect dipping tool.

Yelp
Great service. Great food. Nice and beautiful afternoon! Inside is open seating, which would have been nice to know vs me waiting there for nearly 5 min. I was asked if I had a reservation and how many people in my group, so I had assumed I would be seated by the hostess (who walked by me no less than 4 times).

Yelp
What an amazing addition to Downtown Danville. The food, service and ambiance are absolutely incredible. They offer a plant based menu and have a penchant for transforming fresh produce into the most delicious creations. Their beet carpaccio for instance - mimicking a meat carpaccio involves taking thinly sliced red and golden beets and plating them with fresh fennel, freshly crushed nuts and ginger tahini. My favorite on the table! Their mushroom burger was perfect! Using not portabello but pieces of fried enoki mushrooms. You can request it with a gluten free bun. Another highlight of our meal were the crab cakes also made with varietal mushrooms and the chocolate smore dessert. Literally could have tried the entire menu! Would definitely return for brunch - they said they were working on a brunch menu.

Yelp
Overall, it was great to try something different and meatless. This quaint place in Danville features a few delectable vegan dishes. We tried the Mushroom Toast, Tofu Katsu Sandwich, B&R Smash Burger, and Lemon Chia Pudding. Overall, we enjoyed the Mushroom Toast, B&R Smash Burgers, Mushroom side soup, and Lemon Pudding. Service was excellent. The only issue was the limited menu items and cozy feeling of the seating arrangements. In some ways it felt a little too close. Overall, it was a nice change in pace and cuisine.

Yelp
Blossom and Root offers a delightful dining experience for those seeking plant-based cuisine within an aesthetically pleasing ambiance. Situated in a quaint setting, the restaurant's rustic decor adorned with floral accents creates a charming atmosphere that is both inviting and visually appealing. The menu boasts an array of vegan dishes crafted with care, each presented with an artistic touch. The mushroom chowder, "crab" cake, bucatini puttanesca, veggie burger, and desserts were amazing. The wine and cocktail list is also quite satisfying.

Yelp
FAVORITE VEGAN RESTAURANT! If your contemplating coming here because you love meat, stop by - you won't be disappointed. I haven't found a great all vegan restaurant in the east bay until we came here. Our service all around was amazing from the host, server and manager. We had ordered crudités, Mac n cheese, mushroom steak salad and funghi sando. The mac n cheese was so delicious - you could not tell that it was all vegan. The mushroom steak salad was nicely tossed in bleu cheese dressing and loved the figs added. Lastly, the mushroom funghi burger was DELICIOUS - it was salty, sweet, crispy and spicy all at once. We had also ordered a couple cocktails and mocktails but everything was very watery and tart. I definitely don't recommend it. Overall, I honestly other than the drink I thought the food was amazing and I love the concept of this restaurant. I definitely will be back for another funghi burger!!

Yelp
I confess, I'm not a vegan. I even operate on a hypocritical sliding scale of morality when it comes to eating animal based substances. However, this is t just superb vegan food- this is hands down one of the BEST restaurants in Danville. Their food is creative, indulgent, delicious, and has some of the best flavors and textures of any food I've had. Their summer menu was fresh and celebrated seasonal ingredients, their fall menu CHANGED and likewise made satisfying dishes that paired with cooler weather and harvest. Tonight though, was amazing; how one can create a VEGAN Swiss menu that is both true to the cuisine of the country AND sans cow-based proteins and fats had me dubious, but I was thrilled. Amongst the superb dishes was potato rosti, FONDUE (though it might better represent raclette in presentation,) even a molten chocolate lava cake so decadent it rivals any I've had - even at Roy's. If you CAN get in to try this Swiss guest chef's delicious menu, DO. Otherwise, stop in for the regular menu which is just as delicious. In particular, the mushroom sandwich and grilled Cesar salad keep me returning for more.

Yelp
Best vegan food in the valley! The host, and servers are very kind and know the menu well. We have no problems getting a table as long as we make a reservation ahead of time! The restaurant is mid size and always busy so walk in is not the best option! The decor is so beautiful! Obsessed with the wallpaper and live plants. Food is incredible with seasonal rotating menu options and tasty drinks. I leave feeling full and happy every time we visit!

Yelp
Such a wonderful dining experience. The ambiance is fun and lively, stylish decor. We were greeted immediately by a friendly hostess, and quickly brought to our outdoor patio seating. Our waitress Sierra was delightful. She gave us a complete review of the menu. Such interesting choices. Started with a rice lager and beet Bellini. Next we enjoyed the fried fritters. Very tasty. Nice sauces. Next was the Masa cake seen in photo. Very flavorful and filling. Perfect complement of sauces and beans. Grilled Cesar salad was delicious, and also got the poke bowl. Finished with the chocolate chip cookie. Everything was spectacular. So happy to have this option in Danville.

Yelp
I took my friend here who is a vegeterian. Ambiance and service was great. However, she and I were hoping for more dishes made with seitan rather than just other vegan type ingredients. It is also priced higher, so even though you are eating vegan, you are definitely paying non vegan prices. If you have friends who are vegeterians, they will likely enjoy this spot, but show them the menu ahead of time so they know what kind of meal to expect.

Yelp
Blossom and Root isn't somewhere I'd come back since the high price didn't particularly match up to the experience. But overall, it was still a decent meal. The food is very pretty, and I'm glad to have tried this restaurant out once. Our waiter didn't check on us, and when we asked our waiter to recommend a wine, he flat out said "the wines aren't good here" which was a little surprising. The cocktails didn't particularly blow me away either. Service from the bartender was fantastic though! He brought out complimentary champagne as an apology for things taking so long, and he was super friendly. The masa cake was enjoyable, I recommend this one. But the burger was disappointing. It completely falls apart, the cheese sauce isn't too good, and the "maple mustard" tastes like any plain mustard. The lemon chips appetizer had a good flavor but it was hard to stomach how oily they were. For me, the dessert was the main highlight. Fantastic chia pudding.

Yelp
This is a brand new vegan restaurant and at the time of our visit, it had only been open a few weeks. My friend wanted to check it out since there aren't many vegan restaurants in the area. She is vegan, I am not, but I was game to try a new place for a girls night out. It was a Wednesday evening and we arrived for a 5:30pm reservation. The smiling hostess greeted us as soon as we walked up and was very friendly. It's a super cute and inviting atmosphere. The front of restaurant has a nice outdoor patio area with comfy outdoor furniture and fire pit tables. I believe the building used to be an old hotel so the inside is small and quaint with a good use of space. The weather was warm so we chose the outdoor dining on the back patio which was perfect. The menu is not extensive, but there are still some nice options to choose from. We started with the lemon chips and dip. If you go here, and you like lemon, do yourself a favor and order these! They were unlike any chip I've ever had. They were deep fried (not greasy) lemon slices, not tart, but very rich in flavor. The dip was like a pesto aioli with a cute little edible flower and presentation was everything! For drinks, we both went with the blueberry basil soda. It was cool and refreshing. I didn't really taste basil but it was served with a basil leaf garnish. For the main course my friend ordered the fungi sando which was like a vegan burger. It looked great and she was happy with it. I got the Maitake steak salad. There were so many wonderful flavors and it was very filling. We ended the meal with a lemon chia pudding that we shared. I've never had chia pudding before and as it turns out, I'm not a fan. I did like the lemon taste but I just couldn't get past the chia part. My friend loved it though. Throughout dinner, our waitress was attentive and a gentleman, whom I believe was the chef, stopped by our table to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Before we left, the owner even came by to introduce herself, engaged in brief conversation and thanked us for coming in to dine with them. My overall review....This place is a little pricey but definitely worth it in my opinion. It is a must for vegans in the area or even non-vegans like myself. Food is fresh, rich in flavor, and beautifully presented. I will be back!

Yelp
I finally tried Blossom & root after reading a article in the newspaper and noticing them on IG a few years ago.I ordered for take out on a Saturday . looking through the online menu the photos for the food looked amazing. I ordered the bean burger, Brussel sprouts, Mac&cheese, and potato salad. my order was ready when I arrived. I eat into the Brussel sprouts first . well it wasn't good. the sprouts were hard, as if they were never cooked. I next took a bite into the bean burger. it was good but not for the price. And I could say the same about the Mac& cheese. potato salad, fair. I'm disappointed. I was hoping this place was going to be great.

Yelp
I'm not vegan, but who cares when the food is as good as this! The restaurant itself is very welcoming & relaxing.

Yelp
I was beyond thrilled to hear about Danville getting its own fully plant based restaurant and ecstatic after dining there! The food was wonderful, the service was fabulous and the atmosphere was adorable. My family and I usually travel to Oakland or Berkeley for vegan food. This place is up there with Millennium EASILY and no long trek or searching for parking around College avenue! As a long time Danville resident and a vegan, It feels good to be able to have a local restaurant that checks all the ethical boxes, has beautiful and delectable food and drinks, and that we know our non veg friends and family will also enjoy with us!

Yelp
This restaurant is a refreshing addition to the plethora of fine dining in Danville. The menu is all vegan based with creative and delicious food that is nicely presented and well priced for Danville. It's the epitome of no guilt eating. I am on a diet and had a fabulous lunch there including dessert and still managed to lose 2 lbs after eating there. All the ingredients are so healthy and everything is made in house.

Yelp
I love this place! The food is amazing, whether you're vegan or not. Everything is fresh, beautiful and well thought out. The staff is friendly and attentive. I literally crave the food for a week after visiting!

Yelp
My wife and I have been waiting for this place to open for quite some time, so it was very possible that we would be disappointed (with great expectations can follow great disappointment ). We also went with our two young boys, who are used to the likes of Benihana and MOD pizza, so the fully plant based menu had us somewhat scared we would have to feed them a second dinner when we got home. Happily, we all loved Blossom and Root! Here is what each of us loved: 8 year old - he loved his coconut milk + lime mocktail, the jam with the bread plate, the grilled sourdough, the olives, & the edamame from the Poke bowl. He thought his mac and cheese was good too, and that says a lot coming from someone who has had a lot of mac and (animal-based) cheese. 10 year old - He is the least adventurous eater of us all, but he loved the grilled sourdough, the rice and ginger sauce from the poke bowl, and he found the lemon chips curious but tasty. Wife - She ordered half the menu, and really enjoyed the seed bread, the Poke bowl (which she demolished, I didn't even get a taste ), and the Masa cake. She didn't love the B&R burger - she may hold the cheese next time. Me - I didn't really not like anything. My favorites were the Gazpacho, Farsotto, and the Masa cake, but as someone who hardly drinks, I also loved the Watermelon sangria. So we will be visiting again! We also had the pleasure of meeting and speaking to the owner after our meal. She was welcoming and gracious and I love that she has used her personal experience making amazing vegan food for her children to open Blossom & Root.

Yelp
Absolutely Fantastic! My first impression, perfect! I love the atmosphere and decor. Very special vibe! Service was perfect. The food was as beautiful as it was delicious! We started with drinks, Persimmon Beet Bellini & Pomegranate Cloud. The appetizers were the Bread Plate and the Fritters. The main was the Masa Cake. Looking forward to bringing family and friends.

Yelp
Nicer vegan place with fancier offerings in a cute place to dine. Like the tempura mushroom burger and delicious gluten free beer offerings. Wife was so so for her pasta dish so 4 stars.

Yelp
My wife and I had a date night here for the first time and nothing disappointed! Joe gave us excellent service and each plate was delicious! Word of the night was Mmmmm!! Can't wait to come back and try their lunch menu.

Yelp
Love it! So good to see a vegan restaurant in Danville. My husband and I are really trying to eat healthier for the start of the new year. We were so glad to have found this gem. The restaurant is small and cozy, which is really cute. We went for dinner and it got busy quick. The service was nice, we liked our waitress that gave us her suggestions and validated our dish choices. We would definitely recommend others to try. My personal favs are brussel sprouts and the 'crab' cakes. They also had some interesting drinks to try for next time.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service and beautiful ambience. We didn't make a reservation in advance but were seated within a reasonable time frame. I absolutely recommend B & R smash burger. It was crafted to perfection. From beginning to end, everything was well prepared and service was unrushed and personable .
