Came here for my birthday with my family. It was pretty empty and it was a very cold night, so I expected that! The atmosphere was cozy and modern. The service was good, although the waiter forgot I wanted grilled scallops instead of fried she made up for it with a dessert on the house, but we ordered more dessert! They only offer wine and beer— no cocktails. The food we had was very tasty and not over seasoned with salt, just right. We also had calamari, not pictured; nor the dessert of baklava. Get here early to find a park or take another form of transportation!

Amazing Greek restaurant in queens!! They offer fresh, authentic Greek dishes in an eclectic and comfortable atmosphere. Super cute interior space that's perfect for a family meal or date night. They also have nice, welcoming staff who were very helpful and kind, especially the owner. All the food I tried was impeccable! My favorites were the lamb chops and htapodi charcoal grilled octopus, but I loved each dish. The sauces, flavors, everything was fantastic and cooked perfectly. Can't wait to go back!

Loved Nutella and strawberry crepe! And shared a sangria pitcher with a friend it was so refreshing and fruity and gave us 2 and half glasses each!

A delightful surprise! We ate at this restaurant once while staying in the neighborhood and returned two times afterwards. Good and filling Greek food at affordable price!

The food was pretty pricey for what it is. Oysters were bland. There are better places in Astoria. Was extremely a quiet night, with only two tables when we were there. Service was good and the atmosphere was great for cosy meals.

Went in today for lunch after an appointment in the area. I had heard so many nice comments about this restaurant since it reopened We ordered linguine with white clam sauce, spinach pie with salad and fried calamari with fries everything was delicious the service was good, excellent layout, definitely recommend for brunch, lunch specials and dinner

So good that I forgot to take a picture of my food. Let’s just put it like that with Astoria having many Greek options. This one will definitely be top three everything on my plate was delicious and fresh and their tzatziki sauce to the feta cheese taste at one of a kind!

Their lamb chops were just amazing! Maybe one of the best we ever had! Perfect! Their grilled octopus was also delicious!!! Their calamari!!!!! Perfectly breaded and cooked! Their sauce was amazing!! The Greek salad! With soooo much tomatoes and cheese I mean wow! I am blown away by the quality of food here! The service was super good and everyone was sooo nice! 10/10 for this restaurant! Portion sizes are super big too! Great for the price!

Took my dad here for his 79th birthday. It's such a cute little spot. I've been lucky enough to visit Greece and this was such a nice little corner of Greece right here in Queens. Food is good. I've had their lemon potatoes, lamb chops, fried seafood medley and fish and chips. The seafood is very good. The chops were a little over cooked but definitely flavorful. The restaurant is never very crowded, which I love, and there's usually just one server (at least from what I've experienced) but they are still attentive. Great atmosphere and good food for the price.

I should have known this yelp review of 4 stars was a trap. This place has pictures of their food and it was very reminiscent of tourist trap places in Europe. Food was mediocre and service was nonexistent even if it was just three other guests in the whole restaurant. Regardless, tried it so I don't regret ever trying it after their "remodel". Basically was just the same everything before they closed down for "renovations" but nothing looks different.

Food was great. Service was awful. We had to keep asking for basic stuff like water, utensils, and napkin. Waitress had this attitude like we were bothering her just for taking our orders, not to mention we were automatically charged 20% tip for a party of 5 adults and 2 kids.

I wanted to love this place - I really wanted to. But the service was just mehhhhh. We sat down pretty quickly but it should've been a warning sign for us - the resto was essentially empty. For our party of 6, it took our waitress 3 times to finally get everyone's orders because she forgot about the other side of the table! And I hate to mention this but she forgot to bring us water AND got my friend's order all wrong. Food was just okay too - I couldn't say AH-MAZING, sorry!

The service here is awful. Our server took two of six peoples orders then walked away. Then came back to take another two peoples orders. Finally minutes later takes the last two orders. The server had an attitude and when she brought out two of the wrong dishes she was insisting we said chicken instead of lamb. She was the only person who heard chicken. The food was honestly mediocre at best but the star of the show was the Greek salad. It came with a really nice dressing and the veggies were super fresh. The fries were soggy. It's also clean in here with lots of window space. I wouldn't come back.

So I wish I could give a 3.5. The .5 is because they do not give salad with your meal. Came here for a get to know you dinner with a new friend. The place is small and quaint. We were seated quickly and attended to quite fat. The menue was simple and had the staples you would want from a Greek spot. We had the fried she was but we ordered spanakopita but we liked it so said nothing. I had the lamb skewers and my friend had the grilled chicken breast with lemon potatoes. The portions were good and filling the food tasted fresh and well Seasoned. I enjoyed the food and it's a A grade. I would eat here again if I were in the area.

I still can't get over how fresh the seafood was at Blue Sea Taverna. They are located in Astoria, Queens and is easy to get to from the N or W. Everything I ordered was amazing, but a few stars were the Branzino and calamari. The Branzino was so tender and moist and paired great with the tangy Greek lemon potato side dish. I also recommend the Calamari, which had nice chewy texture on the inside and crisp batter on the outside. New items that I've never tried before were the Saganaki cheese, which came out sizzling on a hot plate, and the Galaktoboureko custard pie, which was warm and decadent.

Great service!! The food was wonderful, I had the lamb souvlaki cooked to perfection. My server was wonderful, she made me feel welcome that I came back twice since then. I would definitely recommend this place. The prices, the staff, and the ambiance is definitely worth it.

This restaurant has tempted me for some time, and they recently added a brunch menu. I'm not a seafood person so there's a lot I won't have, but the brunch options seemed good - can't go wrong with a Benedict or French toast I thought. Unfortunately, you CAN go sideways. Got the French toast to go, and it was basically warmed up French toast with (I think?) a syrup spread. The fruits tasted not-fresh. I'd try their mains next time-- not the brunch. But it was cozy inside!

Meh. Felt like the Yelp page was deceiving. Got a diff vibe and a diff menu than what we saw online. Also has a grand opening sign yet has been around for 799 years? Underwhelming at best. Had: Lamb chops (tasty but diff from pics) Scallops (meh)

I've been studying this menu via yelp and the pics all more. I was highly disappointed that 2 of the main things I wanted, they didn't have. (Brussels sprouts and the fried zucchini.) How?? It's 1:30pm. I'm not sure if they don't sell them anymore or just ran out. I ordered the lamb chops with lemon potatoes to go. It was dry and zero flavor. What a disappointment. The potatoes were good. While I waited on my take out order, I had the fries with feta cheese. It was made fresh and came out piping hot and crunchy just the way I like them. There was enough to share for 2 or even 3 people. I can't say the feta cheese complimented the fries which is what I was hoping. They were just there. Very strange but I won't knock it. Guess I prefer mine on a salad I also had a glass of wine.

First impression was definitely not the best. Walked in to the restaurant on a rainy Saturday evening at about 6:30pm and there were only 2 women dining. The bar area and restaurant were empty. I immediately felt like it was a red flag. But we decided to stay and I'm so glad we did. We ordered the kids food first-chicken skewers: these were served along with pita bread- very soft and tasteful the kids loved them. We also tried the octopus - very tender served with capers and beans- delicious! Fried calamari is always a good idea ! Greek fries served with feta cheese - I felt this was a bit different but it turned out to be good. You can never go wrong with a Greek salad We also tried to order the bronzino but they didn't have. So we got the salmon instead. We also ordered the soup of the day (chicken) and the seafood pasta. Overall, the food was great and the service was good too. It was sad to see that a restaurant with so much potential was so empty. They only had 1 waitress working the floor and she was running the food out as well as preparing and serving the drinks. They only serve beer and wine. I asked for coffee and was told they don't serve coffee... like what???? How do u not serve coffee?

Nice staff, food is ok, salmon was best thing I tried. They should put more variety in their menu. The souvlaki is OK. The horiatiki salad is good.

Greek food is one of my favorites so if you are looking for a beer and wine spot that has delicious Mediterranean food with large portions in Astoria...this is your place. I had the amazing potatoes, chicken solvaski, greek salad and feta cheese dishes. All were good, but the potatoes were hitting!

Delicious food. Great atmosphere. Friendly people. Good wine list. Highly recommended.

I have been here previously and the food is amazing! They don't take dinner reservations, we showed up at 8pm on a Saturday night and the wait list was so long that they stopped taking walk-ins. So we had to find another restaurant, we were bummed out but the other restaurant was amazing, so it worked out!

Came here on a late weekday night. Great ambiance, love the decor and soft music. Comfy sofa seating. Felt like I was on vacation in the mediterranean. We got the $20 branzino special. Despite showing up around 9pm the ingredients were all fresh and our sishes were made to order. Branzino (5/5) - Grilled perfectly, fresh, nice crispy skin and tender white meat. Beef/lamb combo platter (5/5) - Some of the best greek platters I've ever had. Meat was extremely soft and tender. Well blended. Worked perfectly with tzatziki, tomato, and red pepper sauce. Ate here today for dinner by myself after working full time and across the street as a teacher assistant at The 30th Avenue School (Q300). I had brought and ate the lunch special and chose the monastiraki wrap with free fries and soda. While I waited for my meal to be served, I felt super thristy and drank all the soda lol. After that, I asked for more and I decided not to get it 'cause the server told me it will be an extra charge of $3. I then asked to have water instead and it didn't cost me extra once I drank it up and asked for more it wasn't charged at all. Anyways, it was great and delicious. The service there was also attentive that I didn't feel rushed about what to choose a wrap to try for the first time. In addition, the ambiance of the Greek restaurant has really good instrumental Mediterranean music. I couldn't agree more! Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

This place would be DYNOMITE if they only had vegetables ie: broccoli rabe,Horta etc. You don't want to always eat potatoes with your meal. I wish they consider. PLEASE!!!

We picked a smaller restaurant on Valentine's Day to avoid the crowd and showed up at 5pm as the second table in the restaurant. We saw one waitress and thought maybe more staff will show up later. She was the one-woman team in the front and did an AMAZING job. There were no smile on her but we couldn't blame her as the night gets crazier. Throughout the night, we kept wondering; did someone called out of work cuz of sickness or maybe it's short staffed or was it the lack of management planning to get more staff scheduled. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the food. It took a little longer since us New Yorkers are so used to fast paced dinning. Some parties did get a little impatient as they waited for water/wine refills while waiting for food. We had a half dozen Raw Oysters, Htapodi (Grilled Octopus) Fried Calamari, Grilled Branzino with Lemon potatoes, and Giaourtlou kebab platter. The food was more than enough for 3 adults and 1 toddler. The oyster were fresh, properly cleaned and had a tad sweetness! Yum! The grilled octopus were a little dried compared to the ones in the area. The Branzino was good however the lemon potatoes were unremarkable. The Giaourtlou platter were good, one friend mentioned that it may be a little well done, I personally liked it. We will definitely return again for a second time on a regular day.

Wanted to like it because I loved it when it was Akrotiri. Now the menu is scaled down to more of a diner-menu. Hard to give an unbiased review because I'm comparing them to what was here before so this is for those who expect the same. It is not. Swordfish and shrimp weren't fresh, didn't even finish them. Lemon potatoes tasted dried out. Fried calamari was ok, needed salt/seasoning and pieces were sometimes rubbery. Souvlaki (chicken, lamb, pork) were just ok. You can absolutely find better at any souvlaki truck in Astoria. Fries were good. Server was very friendly.

The good: We came here because my brother's Greek girlfriend and her family recommended this spot. The service was excellent here! Our waiter was really patient with our table. We tried the sour cherries with Greek yogurt, baklava, and custard cake dessert. For appetizers we tried the spanakopita, octopus, pita and yogurt sauce and calamari. For entree, we tried the lamb/chicken skewers with lemon potatoes. Everything was delicious. The octopus was grilled nicely and was not at all chewy. The calamari basket was plentiful. The spanakopita was super flaky and buttery. The pita was soft and tasted fresh. The ambience was slightly upscale and cozy. The lamb skewers were tender and seasoned so well. It reminded me of the meat found in the Vietnamese bo 7 mon (7 course beef dish). The baklava was very flaky and fresh. It wasn't super sticky and thick with honey. The bad: The space was a bit tight for us with a baby stroller and high chair. The calamari could've been a tad more crunchy. The interesting: They're known for their seafood! Akrotiri was a city in Santorini.

Enjoyed their Valentine's Day menu with my sweetheart. Very nice atmosphere and attentive wait staff. Nice choice of dishes. The grilled salmon was wonderful! Will definitely come back!!

July 7, 2023 This is the best place my husband and I went to eat when visiting New York City for the first time. akrotiri thank you for the best meal of our visit. I ate the chicken Souvlaki and my husband ordered the Chicken Gyro Donner. Both delicious and made with the freshest ingredients!! The garlic fries were great!! We saw people eating the oysters and what looked like a watercress salad with watermelon. We will try them on our next visit to visit our son. The ambiance was nice. The street was busy and we found a calm and cool place to eat our meal. The restaurant was very clean. Love, Love from California

Food and service was very good. Nothing spectacular but very solid meals at an affordable price. The ambiance was perfect for our large group.

Yesterday a much better experience. Well, they reopened a few months ago after a long shutdown, so I thought we would give them another try. The lamb chops we ordered were pretty good, though the lemon potatoes were a little salty. We enjoyed watching the England v France WC game (2022) Yes, they were worth a second visit!

Nice menu. Service was good and ambience of the place really nice inside and out. Didn't like that I got a fried shrimp and calamari combo with fried and it was really oily. Also order a Caesar salad and it had too much dressing. Also had a grilled fish and felt it had too much oil. Had better, don't think I will be going there again.

We ordered a lot on the menu! The seafood pastas were cooked perfectly and delicious. The calamari was lightly breaded and very fresh. Really enjoyed it.

I found this restaurant coz my husband has an emergency hand injured at the close by hospital. I came here by myself while I was waiting for my husband and order the food from the picture below. Food was great but I couldn't finish it because of a large portion. The lady who taking my order was very knowledgeable. Highly recommended. !!

Lovely ambiance with all the windows and doors open on a nice day, but sadly the food doesnt quite match. Branzino was beautiful, it and squid tasted very fresh, but calamari and shrimp were insanely overcooked to rubber. Maybe its because we came at an off time between lunch and dinner. Perfect staff. I dont think this is the best option for a straight-up meal, but I imagine itd be a very solid night with a group of friends and drinks.

So ive never had an octopus burger until today - it was very good! Totally surprised this is a thing. I must say - i wish i tried more apps here because the tangantia (fried zucchini was so good and the portion was big, i got full with just that! The fries were better than most places, i love that extra crisp. The only downfall for me here was there's no coffee! How! my wonderful greek owner, why not? otherwise, service was good considering COVID and there werent too many people in there.

Akrotiri knows its seafood, but I was floored by the way they prepared their grilled octopus! I only recently learned about the labor intensive process that goes into making a moist, grilled octopus. I want to kiss the hand of their chef because he served up the most tender bites of octopus over a bed of dill, green onions, and black eyed peas. It would be easy to ignore everything else on the table, but that wouldn't do our meal justice. If octopus was the star dish, its supporting cast standouts were the black truffle tarama and the htenia pasta of creamy scallops over squid ink fettuccine noodles. Greek luxury for your palette! I sipped that Mastic Old Fashioned at the end of my meal like I owned the joint - exactly how you want to feel after a rich meal. Ondos!

I found myself at Akrotiri after much indecision about where to go for dinner the other night. I ultimately decided on Greek and since my parents had great things to say about this restaurant I decided to check it out. The fact that I had never been here before made me even more excited to check it out, so with that I headed over to Astoria. Akrotiri has an inviting exterior - they're situated on a corner and have nice wrap-around outdoor seating area. Even though it was winter and there was transparent plastic lining the perimeter, there were hanging lights that gave it a really nice welcoming glow. The inside has a fairly modern aesthetic with clean lines and contemporary finishes like hanging Edison bulbs by the bar. The menu has a good selection of Greek dishes but leans mostly towards seafood. We decided to start with two apps - the keftedes and the saganaki. The meatballs were tasty - they had a distinctive Greek flavor and the tomato sauce they were paired with complemented them well. The cheese had a nice crisp on the top and had a good consistency underneath - again, good flavor. For my main I decided to get swordfish - it was a generous cut and cooked really well. It was paired simply with some asparagus and lemon which honestly was all that was needed. For dessert I had the walnut cake - it was a wet cake and while it was doused in syrup it wasn't too sweet or too heavy. Service was good - there was a large party while we were dining but everything came out at a good pace and we never felt forgotten. Overall, I had a great meal at Akrotiri. While competition among Greek restaurants is stiff in Astoria, they turn out the goods here and is definitely worth visiting at least once.

Came for dinner with a friend on a weekday night. Food was pretty good, would like to try other things! Service was just okay, even for a slow night. Will give it another try and hope the service is more attentive next time.

What a wonderful experience! My boyfriend and I had a reservation for 7pm on a Tuesday night. There was no wait time, we were seated immediately. The ambience is romantic but casual. It's definitely a place for a date. To start, we ordered a bottle of Sauvignon blanc from the Netherlands, a great choice if you prefer something light and crisp. It paired very nicely with our meal. We ordered calamari for appetizer which was crunchy and soft. There was the right amount of batter on each piece, it did not taste overwhelming. My boyfriend had the swordfish, which he liked. The texture of the swordfish was similar to a chicken steak, it laid on top of a layer of grilled charred asparagus (which I loved). I felt that the dish was missing something to tie everything together, like a garlic butter sauce or a light wine sauce. It was missing something but nonetheless, delicious. I ordered the Tou psara which includes squid ink pasta, muscles, shrimp, and prawn. I absolutely love love loved my meal! The tomato sauce brought on a nice amount of acidity that balanced the seafood and pasta. The muscles were delicious and fresh, the shrimp/prawns were seasoned nicely. I had only one scallop in my dish, I wish I had more (this is the gluttonous side of me speaking since it was so good). We were so busy eating we neglected our wine! In attempts to finish our bottle of wine, we ordered the mosaiko with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. WOW! What a game changer. Delectably crunchy and not overly sweet, this was the perfect ending to our meal. My boyfriend even said, "This is the best dessert I've ever had in a restaurant" Wonderful job! The service was great, food was amazing. Exceeding my expectations and more. I will definitely be back, and with my friends/family although I am cautious because I love this little spot & don't want anyone to steal it! (Just kidding haha)

The food and atmosphere were decent, but the service was horrible. We were 1 out of maybe 3 tables and it felt like we were bothering the server to order our appetizers and meal. We spent over $300 on a meal for Christmas dinner and I left feeling like I disturbed the establishment for coming.

This is my second time visiting, would say this is one of my favorite places for Greek food in Astoria.

Took my momma out for some lamb chops. It's her favorite thing to eat. This place has a very nice warm ( figuratively and literally) atmosphere and the waiter Anton was awesome. We ordered The grilled octopus and the Sortman of spreads for appetizers. Both were good not great. For our entrées we ordered the lamb chops and an order of the goat cheese gnocchi with bacon, shrimp and scallops. Both were delicious. My mom enjoyed herself and we had a lovely evening.

I had to run some errands and needed to go to Astoria. I was in the mood for some really authentic greek food. The food was amazing!!! I had a fish dish steamed in parchment with veggies & a white wine, garlic, butter sauce. It was to die for. Service was great, & the place was immaculately clean.

Great food, but highly recommend ordering for delivery or pick up. We tried it as we are relatively new to the neighborhood and have passed it many times on the way to the train, unfortunately the owner sat at a table, loudly listening to videos on speaker on his phone. It was disruptive to the point that we chose to leave. After getting back home and mentioning this to our neighbors, we've learned this is not a unique experience to us and an ongoing reason people have chosen not to dine-in vs do takeout.

Fancy seafood and Mediterranean place. The appetizers were really good. We especially enjoyed the scallops and the calamari. The fries were skinny and crunchy, and addicting. We ordered fresh fish which were picked outand it was very good: sweet meat without a fishy pungent taste: fresh. I ordered the lamb chops. They were a little chewy but had a nice bite and were not gamy. However they lacked flavor and did not come with a sauce on the side which they really needed. Someone also ordered the chicken and that was a mistake. Although 'organic' it didn't resemble chicken and was expensive. The brussel sprouts were a side and they were also delicious. Fun waiter but at times serious and at times a jokester. Drinks according to friends were delicious but the wine was really sweet. Mera's Tip: sea food and eat it ;)

Class, awareness, clean. Timely service. Energetic yet peaceful environment. The raw bar looked, smelled and tasted fresh off the boat. Bartender was attentive but not encroaching. When we sat to eat, the waiter knew the menu and made us feel welcome. He suggested a pairing that both me and my wife could enjoy, despite the differences in our dishes. After my third time this week, I was compelled to download Yelp, just to leave this review. A hidden Gem not to be missed by the most esoteric of foodies. 10/10

Great Greek spot for seafood. Came here with a friend for dinner on a Friday night and we were the only ones there. We shared the Crispy Calamari which was really good. For myself I got the Tou Psara, which was a seafood pasta. Fantastic! So much variety in flavor with the mussels, shrimp, and scallops. Great place for a nice dinner!

Akrotiri Seafood Taverna is pretty Greek restaurant/bar in Astoria. What makes this Greek restaurant different than all the others in Astoria? The Chef Nicholas Poulmentis won Chopped 2 months ago. Also, Akrotiri's wine menu is mostly Greek wines. We got a taste of the tapas style food via a Yelp event one month ago. The taste was a tease, so a friend made a reservation to return to try the food. The food was good to excellent. The service was good, and the ambience was trendy. K and I got here early so we enjoyed a drink at the long sleek marbled bar while waiting for our friends to arrive. Once everyone was here, we were seated at a long wooden table; one side sits on a soft plush leather settee and the other side enjoys some comfy wooden chairs. We ordered the following: 2 Taramas Lava me Trufa (Squid ink mousse with truffle) - this was the best dish of the night. The flavors were incomparable. The rich salinity of the squid ink mousse with the grey airy powdered truffle. The truffle looked like fluffy cheese but when it combined with the mousse, it was rich, and out of this world flavors. I think we were all astonished. This was much much better than the squid ink mousse at the Yelp Elite Event. Of course they didn't serve the truffle with the mousse and that made all the difference in the world. Careful. You may think you are all big eaters with a table of 5 and so you ordered 2 of these. Then at the end of the night, you are smearing huge chunks of the mousse on random pieces of bread. One is plenty for 4 people. Tou Psara (squid ink linguini with scallops, mussels, tiger shrimp, tomato sauce) - out of the three squid ink pastas, this was my favorite. The tomato emulsion/sauce cut into the richness of the butter seafood. The seafood was well cooked. This was solid dish. Protip one- don't order 3 squid ink pastas like we did. Change it up! At some point you can't tell them apart. Protip two- if you order two Tou Psara, get extra pita bread. You will need it. Expect a extra charge ($1.5) Htenia (squid ink linguini with white saffron sauce and topped with 2 Scallops)- the scallops were excellent. Perfectly seared and tender. I couldn't taste the saffron in the white sauce. It tasted of butter and the squid ink pasta was the predominant taste. Squid ink dominated everything. Grilled Black Sea Bass- This was fun. We got to pick out the fish. The waiter weighed it for us and then we waited it to come to us grilled. It was good. The flavors were there. This was the most impressive and pricest dish. The dish was 2 feet long and filled with pasta topped with an enormous lobster. The large 2.5 lb lobster was beautiful among the squid ink pasta. The lobster juices are great mixed among the oceanic pasta and the acidity of the tomatoes. This was a good dish. The lobster was big so the lobster meat was a little tough and drier despite the buttery tomato sauce. This was extremely messy to eat. For the upscale decor and the prices, I thought the lobster would be deshelled. So if you don't mind looking like a savage, order this dish. It tastes great. Protip three- order a smaller lobster (1- 1.5 lb). If you have a big party, order two 1.5 lb lobsters. Your taste buds will thank me. Garides Loukoumades (rock shrimp lollipops)- we all loved this dish. It was shrimp, deveined and sans shell in a full lollipop form. What is there not to like about fried shrimp? Nothing. Solid dish. Dessert: Mosaiko (Chef's secret)- chocolate biscuits with custard. This was amazing. It tasted like fluffy ice-cream biscuits with custard and powdered sugar. Can I just have one to myself?
