Top Chef Alum Chris Scott Opens Birdman Juke Joint in Bridgeport, CT - Eater Boston

"The owners of Blue Spoon (89 Congress St.) in Portland’s Munjoy Hill neighborhood plan to expand their operation. Liz Koenigsberg and chef Will Lavey leased the space at 64 Pine St. that previously housed Aurora Provisions, where they will open Blue Spoon Cafe & Catering, serving breakfast, lunch, coffee, and food to-go. The space will also allow them to expand their catering services. Look for the new Blue Spoon opening some time in May." - Dana Hatic

Blue Spoon - Review - East End - Portland, ME - The Infatuation

"Blue Spoon is the neighborhood restaurant that you’ll wish was around the corner from where you lived. This all-day spot in Munjoy Hill serves a long list of dishes that always sound good, some of which are Italian, like the duck risotto and ragu, and others that aren’t, like their burger, which is one of our favorites in Portland. They also have a great brunch, where breakfast people can get things like pancakes and pork belly hash, and non-breakfast people can get cacio e pepe. If you want to come later in the day, they do a Happy Hour from 4:30-6pm most nights, which includes deals on wine and snacks, in case you ate here last night, but still want to stop by again for a drink before dinner elsewhere." - Team Infatuation

If you want to sit down to eat or simply don't feel like cooking, this is one of the best spots to get some quality food. Its not really a restaurant, it's more like a café. I love it! Certainly worth a visit.

Good food, great coffee, free parking, tolerable service and unfortunately limited hours.

A surprising variety of sandwiches and bakery items including many gluten free and vegan. Nice selection homemade soups daily - while it lasts. Great selection of coffees, teas, and wine; in house or to go. There's also an interesting amount of kitchen/ pantry items for sale. It's a very tough neighborhood for finding parking. Their parking lit holds 8-10 vehicles & is shared with the business next door.

This was a great surprise. I had no expectations, hadn't read any reviews. The food was excellent. We shared an excellent burger, delicious lemon ricotta fritters, and a very good ham and butter sandwich. The prices were very reasonable. Go here and give it a try.

The staff was nice. I'm not sure I like the changes to a more formal restaurant experience if you eat in. They also got rid of my favorite dish: the grain plate with roasted veggies. I ordered something else (soup) since the grain dish is gone and I guess it tasted okay.

Overpriced "gourmet" food market, but fills a void in the neighborhood. They have a small selection of breads, cheeses, crackers, plus other nibbles. They offer sandwiches and baked goods, which are nice. Service on a recent Saturday was painfully slow, though. It's possible someone called out and they were short staffed. There's seating indoors, and picnic tables outside by the parking lot.

I've thought it over a bit and I'd like to add a few things . I had the steak and fries and the food was great. The service, however needs to step it up a little. I felt a bit neglected because I could see her standing chatting with a co-worker the whole time I was there. I needed a steak Knife, a setup and the cream to go with coffee. Each of these were a separate trip. I had to ask for each and once a second time. I was a server for a while and I don't remember getting paid by the mile.

Not sure whether to rate this 3 or four stars but the other reviews are way too glowing so I will stick with three. I have lived near this place for ten years and have a love/hate relationship with it. Sometimes I go in and have marvelous, friendly service and great food and would rate it as high as five stars; other times my experience isn't so great. Part of the challenge is knowing what to order and how much. I can tell you the coffee, almond bars, russian tea cakes, peanut butter cookies with chocolate in the middle , sandwhiches, cream puffs, and most of the brownies and deli items are top notch. On the negative: one of the brownies they sell is absolutely horrible and I keep forgetting myself and ordering it, some of their cookies are blah, their cupcakes are pretty but pretty darn awful, and the deli items are good but not always good enough to match the steep price. Be carefull when ordering because you can easily end up spending way more than you intend too. Calculate extra carefully with the deli items; unless you still live in the West End because you are loaded. The service is usually friendly and correct, alhough I just ordered a sugar free latte and it was the sweetest most disgusting thing I ever tasted. I still feel sick. Maybe if I say "Unsweetened"" next time they will get me. They keep the place clean, but the atmosphere is rather cold and the echo in the room makes it loud at peak hours. Around lunchtime it can be downright unpleasant to stay and eat there (at least for me.) The furniture isn't particularily comfortable either. The system they have of randomly deciding who to serve around the island can be angering; as I don't know how many times someone who just walked in will be served before me whan I have been standing there for ten minutes. Other times they come in and ask you what you want before you even have a chance to look; which seems nice but after you start looking you have to wait another ten minutes before they get to you again. Try not to take this personally; this is just the crappy system they have.
