Bluebird Review - 11th Arr. - Paris - The Infatuation

"If you want to drink where the bartenders on this guide drink, come to Bluebird. It’s an energetic, retro-ish cocktail lounge in the 11th that looks like the deck of a cruise ship from the ‘60s, with wood paneling, multi-colored light fixtures, and an aquarium in the back. The drinks on the menu change every month, and are categorized as savory, salty, bitter, etc., which helps when you don’t exactly know what you have a taste for. There’s no food and only one table inside—the rest of the bar is full of stools along the wall, so it’s best for a quick drink after work or late at night after dinner." - Tanisha Townsend

Chicago’s Biggest Restaurant and Bar Closings, Winter 2024 - Eater Chicago

"American comfort food spot Bluebird has temporarily closed its second location after a wiring-related fire in early January gutted its space at 3938 N. Central Avenue, according to Block Club Chicago. First responders extinguished the blaze and reported no injuries. Owner Zachary Lucchese-Soto, also behind the original Bluebird in Lakeview, tells reporters that he intends to rebuild and reopen in five or six months." - Ashok Selvam

Bluebird - Review - Portage Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Bluebird in Portage Park makes great burgers and sandwiches. And though this casual sit-down spot also has entrees like risotto, our favorite dishes are handhelds that let you reenact baby Simba’s presentation scene from the opening of The Lion King. The burger's juicy patties are made with a trifecta of brisket, sirloin, and short rib, and have toppings like bacon jam or duck fat fried mushrooms. There are 14 different sandwiches on the menu, with options like shrimp po' boys and Philly cheesesteaks. There’s potential for indecision, but the Bluebird with crispy fried chicken, bacon, and honey mustard on a chewy pretzel bun is a great go-to. The bright interior has room for groups, but you can also grab a seat at the bar. Plus, they have a back patio that's nice and quiet." - John Ringor

Four stars because of many items in the main menu are not available. Order cheese steak and baguette bread still frozen needs to switch to different bread and I don't like margaritas here. Too sweet for my liking. Everything else here is very tasty. Cheese steak itself, which was very tasty. We're loved chicken wings. Small and robust flavor. Elote is very mellow taste, and grill asparagus are different. The drinks menu is full of different cocktails. Good fast services. Definitely come back for drinks and light snacks.

My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich which came on a pretzel bun; and, I had the Cobb salad. We shared a side of the elotes corn. Everything was delicious! The chicken breast was juicy with flavors that popped. The salad was a generous portion and fresh. We both enjoyed the elotes but the flavors would have been elevated if the corn was fresh roasted and cut off the Cobb. They have a paperless QR digital menu; and, you can order/pay for everything from your phone. If asked, they also have paper menus available. There is patio seating in the back which we will have to try next time. Overall, delicious and we will be back!

I have seen some of the reviews of bad experiences and found my recent experience could not be more different. My wife and I went for a date and had a wonderful time on their hidden back patio. It felt cozy and secluded from the alley etc. Our server was great and the bar manager's reccomendations were excellent. I got the Pajaro Verde, which was great and not too spicy and my wife got the Kodachrome Greens, which she loved. The rotating drink menu was also excellent. My wife loved the classic and the Brazilian margarita. I liked every drink I had ( cant remember the first one but the second was lavender menace) and on the reccomendation of the bar manager got a rum espresso martini which turned out to be amazing. It was my first time trying one with rum and if I go back I would definitly get another. This truly is a neighborhood gem. Literally my only criticism is that the duck fat fries were a little soggy and could have been left cooking a little more to give them more crunch. We will be back.

Google
Food is great. Corn beef hash was so very good, like surprisingly. The sputhwesteen salad was nice+ The ordering process however is not streamlined. You can order on your phone and eventually the food comes to you, maybe. OR ask for a menu and get the human touch--recommend that. If you order from your phone and your stuff doesn't come there is no one checking in on any table. So you have to go inside and ask what happened. I enjoy talking with humans and interacting. Not digging the pick on your phone ordering. At least have a server come by a couple times to be sure your guests are good.

Google
Awesome new neighborhood spot serving upscale American fare. They have a fairly large back patio that's perfect for summer dining. There's a nice cocktail list, some salad options, quite a few burgers / sandwiches, and a selection of entrees as well. I recommend the Bacon Jam Burger and the Mac and Cheese. You also order everything via a website and they bring it all to your seat.

Google
Food was pretty good, burgers were tasty. Prices are decent; although sides are also carte. The salads optioned are great and I would come back to try a chicken sandwich. It’s a nice neighborhood spot; the place has potential. Overall, the service was lacking. There aren’t actual servers/waiters who take orders- the one woman working the patio said it was to “reduce the amount of back and forth for the servers.” so if that’s what you’re looking for in your dining experience this isn’t the spot for you. You have to order through scanning a QR code, put a credit card on file to secure the order. You also pay through the app. This is unfortunate if you order several things in hopes that one will come out first (such as a salad); instead all the food comes out at once; our food order was all incorrect any they brought out the wrong burger and Mac n cheese. The last issue I had was there isn’t an option to split the check in the app, which is fine if we were given a heads up, but there’s no servers beyond someone running food. I don’t think I would go back. Maybe do take out since the food was tasty!

Google
I’d been dying to try this place since they opened. We’d needed exciting new places to eat in the area. The place is cozy and we liked the atmosphere. The staff is very attentive and gave us some very good recommendations. They have a paper menu and a scannable one and they give you a choice of how you would prefer to order. You can give your order to the wait staff or order and pay through the scannable option. My hubs got the Truffle burger because who doesn’t love truffles? And I got the cheese steak and a side of regular fries. My husband was a little underwhelmed by his choice. He ordered the burger MR and it came out well done. The flavor was amazing but he thought it was dry due to being over cooked. My cheese steak was the absolute BEST that we have ever had. The bread was great as well. We both loved it, would get it again and we highly recommend it. The fries were cold although if they were hot they would have been really good. We will come back and try their chicken sandwiches which my son said are the best he’s ever had. It’s a new place in our area and it has so much going for it. We feel like it will improve with time. After all, the flavors are spot on and it may have just been an off day. They also share tips with the kitchen staff which is a nice touch. Over all, we enjoyed it and will be back!

Google
Bluebird is an utter delight. My friends and I met up for Sunday brunch. It is located in the Portage Park neighbourhood. The menu is succinct but has a wide variety of options from fried chicken and waffles to loco moco to a breakfast burrito. I was deciding between the chicken & waffles and the breakfast burrito but settled on the waffles in the end. The chicken thighs and the maple butter sold me on the idea. We ordered the challah French toast to share as a group. I also ordered a pomegranate mimosa to pair with my meal. I was extremely pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere of Bluebird and would definitely plan to come back.

Yelp
This place hit the spot! I was looking for a chicken sandwich while I was in town, and I came across this spot on Yelp. The pictures looked yummy, so I had to pay it a visit! I had the Nashville Hot, The Bluebird, the curry chicken salad, cheese curds, sweet potato tater tots, and some beer! The Nashville hot was perfectly spicy and the slaw on it had a nice sweetness. I was also pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the tater tots! I also decided to be a little adventurous as got chicken salad on the side and was NOT disappointed. I would definitely get it again. The server/bartender was attentive and polite, but if you're feeling shy, they have a QR code menu *and* checkout if you want to eat or drink in silence. Enjoy!

Yelp
TL;DR: do not sleep on Bluebird brunch! Searching Yelp for a new brunch spot near me, I'm actually surprised Bluebird was as far down the list as it was, and I'm shocked I hadn't heard of it before. If you blink, you could easily miss the inconspicuous window front of the restaurant. At lunch time on a Sunday, street parking was easy. I had made a reservation online last night. It seems really hit or miss on whether you need to make one or not, as the flow of traffic here really seems to ebb and flow. It is probably not necessary for most. We had a 2 top table in the middle of the dining space. Much of the seating here is high top against a wall or the bar. The menu isn't overwhelming but there are plenty of delicious choices. I chose the sweet potato and pork belly hash. It was a perfect portion and one of my favorite dishes I've had in Chicago. What an unsuspecting gem of a dish, this is the best sweet potato preparation I've ever had. My partner enjoyed the eggs Benedict, which comes with pork belly as the protein and potatoes on the side. Both plates were empty before we left. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and we had a wonderful experience. The ambiance is so fresh and bright, I love the big windows letting in light, and it's in a great spot. I can't wait to become a regular at Bluebird!

Yelp
Small neighborhood spot for comfort food! Don't sleep on the hidden patio outback. Will definitely be the popular place to be on nice summer days. When you first walk in you may be surprised that it's quiet until you head back to the patio. Definitely try to make a reservation if you want to sit outside. The place is small, so not a lot of servers but they are attentive and very friendly. We went for brunch and loved the cocktails - espresso martini, spritz, mimosa of all kinds of flavors. The food was phenomenal - shrimp & grits, sous vide pork belly Benedict, and an epic breakfast burrito! Keep it open and give it a visit, great addition!

Yelp
Food and service was fantastic! The place was nice and clean too, drinks and food were reasonably priced. The Nashville hot was amazing and had the spice that you want from such a sandwich. The Mac and cheese is a classic grandmas recipe, and the fries were so crispy and fresh! PS: if you're tall watch your knees when you're in the bathroom

Yelp
Made reservations for a Sunday morning brunch. We were the first ones in and two more parties came in shortly after. Service was great, very friendly and welcoming. My wife ordered their chicken & waffles. It was served with habanero maple syrup, honey butter and scallions. It as really delicious. The chicken was perfectly fried. It had a nice crispy outside and seasoned well. The chicken itself was very tender and the habanero maple syrup had a bit of heat to add to the sweetness. Overall a very delicious combination. I ordered their Sweet Potato and Pork Belly Hash. It recently had a sweet potato hash at another place and fell in love with it. I was hoping for the same love here at Bluebird, but I honestly wasn't a fan of their version. The sweet potato was cut to small and very mushy. I would have preferred bigger hut pieces. It also had way too much sautéed red pepper & onion. I wouldn't order this again. I still me myself returning, I wouldn't mind ordering their chicken & waffles if I were return for brunch. I will definitely return for dinner to check out some of their dinner options.

Yelp
"Doesn't look like much from the curb,".... Which is absolutely true. But when has that ever been a reliable barometer for a good restaurant in Chicago?? This space, formerly The Portage and Cochinita, has long relied on the in-the-know dining crowd. Bluebird had big shoes to fill in the wake of its predecessors. And I personally feel the shoes are a little loose...leaving room for improvement. Bluebird is a good bet for burgers under $13... but ala carte sides? Seriously. Sweet potato tots are my go to... but I'm less than excited to pay $5 for a serving. Service is friendly enough but seems stressed out & under-staffed. A missed opportunity... Bluebird has Zero NA beer options. Asking for a mock-tail version of one of their several cocktails was a struggle. The back patio is where I plant myself. The interior is short on elbow space and appears to have lost it's immaculate appearance from the former owner. I really wanted to praise this place because our neighborhood has been struggling on the verge of up & coming for decades. This spot is better than many on Central Ave no man's land in Portage Park... which isn't saying a lot. It's just ok.

Yelp
As I wrote in my review of their Clark Street location last year, a great burger is truly hard to find. Plenty of places have a good burger, but maybe the patty isn't seasoned all that well, or perhaps the bun falls to pieces after the second bite. We all know about Au Cheval, The Loyalist, Mott St, and a handful of others. Well, just like its other location, Bluebird in Portage Park truly deserves to be added to the list. Everything here is very, very good, from the layered and plentiful elote, to the rich and creamy mac and cheese. Even the sweet potato tots are above average. And again, this is largely due to, beyond technical skill, fresh ingredients and great seasoning. The Bacon Jam Burger is wonderful, the perfect balance of flavors and textures on a bun that holds up until the very last bite. Absolutely loved it. So why not 5 stars? The slight tick down is for the dining experience inside the restaurant, which I must admit is pretty lackluster. Maybe they're still trying to figure things out, but it's a fairly cramped space that doesn't feel super inviting. Maybe it's the lighting, maybe it's a slightly inattentive wait staff, but unless you're sitting at the bar (and even then?), I think you're probably better off with takeout. Still, let's end on a high note: this is absolutely one of the best burgers in Chicago!

Yelp
I ordered for delivery. Was pretty excited to try this place since it has great reviews. We ordered the chicken sandwich, Gouda burger and Truffle burger. The chicken sandwich was not good. I will never order this again. It had a weird taste. I think they might have put cumin in the breading or something. What ever spice they use in it did not compliment the sandwich. The truffle burger was very tasty however it was very rare. I didn't rate the Gouda burger because I did not try it. The potato tots were plain and soggy. Not good. The cheese and bacon fries were good. Overall not very pleased. Most likely I will not be ordering from this place.

Yelp
We had a really great experience at Bluebird. I'll start by saying it's a little confusing finding it if you're walking there as the only prominent signage is written on the top of the awning so we actually first walked past it before walking back and finding it. We seated ourselves and ordered with the QR core at the table. Water and napkins are self service. Our food was brought out to us - there was maybe a 10-15 min wait which was fine, as they were really busy with takeout orders. Everything was remarkably fresh and tasty, we got the bluebird sandwich, truffle fries, truffle burger and Mac and cheese. Every single one of those items I would very happily get again. I will say, it was close to a $50 meal for all of that.. and for a fast casual restaurant that seemed pretty pricey to me.. but we really liked the quality so it's also hard to complain. I'm sure we'll be back, the menu is full of comfort food I can't wait to try.

Yelp
Yet another great addition to the Portage Park community! There used to be a taco place here that didn't last very long before they opened up Bluebird. I'm hoping Bluebird stays open for a long while. Their first location is in Lakeview. When you walk in, it's very cozy inside. The wooden interior made it feel like a cabin with a bar inside. I wasn't able to see their patio due to the rain but I heard it's nice. Service: Ordering is a little different here. You scan the QR code with your phone and you order/pay directly through their app. It's convenient because you don't have to wait on an employee to take your order. It was also nice because the app separates the orders by what each person chose. Everyone's choices shows up on 1 bill for your whole group. I just wish there was an option to split the bill however you'd like. I've read some complaints that their ordering system prevents human interaction which is what some people like. I personally don't have a preference. I'm just curious how it works with customers who aren't so tech savvy or who don't have phones. Bluebird sandwich: This is a fried chicken sandwich with cheddar, bacon, chipotle mustard, and greens. It's a pretty hefty sandwich. The brioche buns are very thick. The sandwich could've used more sauce however it was still good. You get a good portion of fried chicken too. Duck fat fries/onion rings/cheese curds: My group got onion rings and cheese curds to share. No complaints about those. I chose duck fat fries as my personal side and they were amazing! The flavor was great! Lavender lemonade: So when I ordered this, I chose it off their "non-alcoholic beverages" menu. After taking a couple sips of it, me and my friend realized it was a cocktail drink? But it was only $4... so I was very confused. I normally don't like drinking while eating but I will gladly drink a decent cocktail for $4.

Yelp
Quality of food and taste, 5 stars. Ambiance is low key. Service questionable, in person and for delivery. Our first time in, we walked in and no one said a word. We sat down. Figured out what the heck we were doing and no one ever stopped by to see if we had questions or needed anything. For delivery, we've ordered at least 6 times, 2 in the past 2 months, and it never goes well. We're always missing something. I want to love this place but when you pay high prices and don't get what you paid for it makes it tough to support them.
google avatar

Yelp
I want to give them 5 stars but as of now I just can't. I had a crazy incident happen with my food (they made it right) but overall this place has potential. Bluebird recently opened up in the Portage Park area. I was told about 3 month ago to be exact. They have an American menu consisting mostly of hand held foods like burgers and sandwiches but also appears they have a wide selection of different salads. I got faked out because the door as you walked in has stairs to an appartment upstairs and instead you actually have to take the door on the left after the main entrance to enter the restaurant. The place isn't too large but they do have a sizable bar and about 6 tables, they have a really nice patio set up in the back. The place has a modern/industrial design and is super clean. Ordering can be done two ways, either using traditional menu or online with a bar code. The online way has you use toad to place the order and keep a running tab, you have to enter your credit card and when you're done you can simply checkout. I decided to sit at the bar and use the online ordering. I ordered a habenero parmasean burger with truffle fries and a spicy pineapple margarita I had a crazy incident with the burger. I don't want to get into the specifics but it had to be remade. My bartended was very apologetic and made things right. While waiting I noticed many online order patrons come in and they had to wait a long time for their orders. It seems as if the kitchen was backed up, something tells me they are still getting their ducks in a row as this place is relatively new. The remade burger tasted real good. I will be back and hopefully my experience will be 5 star next time.

Yelp
What a great little spot. The restaurant itself doesn't seem to be anything special...but the outside seating area out back is great. Not crowded, just the right amount of table. There is also a roof top patio that I will need to check out. More importantly the food is wonderful. My boys enjoyed their chicken tenders as well as macaroni and cheese. Service was great. The only hiccup was our cheese curd appetizer showed up late, but was taken off the bill by the server. No harm no foul. Great spot. I tried their Nashville Hot Chicken Sándwich Level 3 heat almost a year ago and it had no heat. A friend also ordered this sandwich with Level 1 heat and was sweating the whole time. Can't help but wonder if they got switched. So I finally made it back to try the level 3 heat. Give me some of those ghost peppers. It was hot, but what a great flavor. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
Service is excellent. Super kind staff and welcoming. Ambiance is comfy and cozy. Food is excellent! We had the chicken and waffles and shakshouka. Cold brew was smooth.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood restaurant I had the shrimp Po'boy and Lavender cocktail. It was an impromptu lunch but I was pleased with the food and service.

Yelp
A cocktail im their patio, sign me up! It does get hot in the summer time but it's pleasantly nice at sunset. Their burger is tasty and just the right size for a bite.

Yelp
I've been waiting to try this restaurant since I heard it was coming to portage park because it's so close to home. I finally got to try it tonight. They offer both indoor and outdoor patio seating and the ambience is very welcoming and relaxing. The service was quick and friendly. Their menu is a QR code that allows you to browse the menu and order directly from your phone which is convenient. The food and drink were brought out as quickly as they could and the staff was great. The food did not disappoint. Their bluebird chicken sandwich was very flavorful and not dry. My date and I also tried some of their appetizers, (the elite, cheese curds and truffle fries). All were hot and made to order. None of the meals we ordered seemed as if they had been sitting long. They also, have a pretty good drink selection. I will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
My third time at Bluebird. We went there last Saturday for lunch but to my surprise, they don't serve lunch on the weekends until 2:30. The asst. mgr. reaffirmed what the waiter said: "we only serve brunch" on the weekends, lunch starts at 2:30". Grrrrrrrrr! They only have one burger listed on the brunch menu "Sunnyside Burger" which is a sunnyside egg with bacon and a side of fries. My friend said it was good. I had their "Eggs Benedict" which had pork belly, poached eggs, delicious Hollandaise sauce, and a good portion of crispy breakfast potatoes. I would order that again, of course from the brunch menu.
google avatar

Donna J.

Yelp
I love the food and cocktails here. In the summer you can sit outside in the back patio. I have also ordered on grub hub and the food came really fast! The chicken sandwich and the burgers are great.

Yelp
On a random Tuesday we stopped by and to my surprise this restaurant has trivia nights. We were able to enjoy our meal with trivia. The restaurant was a bit small but very homey and I felt very comfortable as soon as I came in. This restaurant is new and is really a cool vibe. We both got two different types of chicken sandwiches and side salads. They ever had lemon vinaigrette which was delicious. The service was awesome too because you order your meal through a QR code. Food came within a reasonable time. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Alexa S.

Yelp
Really good shrimp po boy. I like that it was served on french bread and the shrimps were fried to a perfect color. I am normally not a big coleslaw fan but in this sandwhich it was soo good. I also enjoyed the french, not too skinny or thick but a good size where they're still potatoey. Cute restaurant, Food was ready quick and the guy helping me was nice. Prices are reasonable except.

Yelp
Excited to try a new neighborhood location for brunch. This spot doesn't have the best track record but I appreciate the new inspo and effort. I'm optimistic this can work but there seem to be some service and cooking kinks for now. Regardless, chicken and waffles for brunch is excellent, breakfast burrito is not bad and kids meals also pretty good. Hoping for more prompt service in the future!

Matt J.

Yelp
I really want to give this place 5*. I had a to go order that was fulfilled early and the food was fantastic! Unfortunately I returned for a dine in experience and the results were terrible. People running this joint r super nice but seem to have never worked in a restaurant ever! Waited for ever just for the server to inform is that 4 of rhe menu items we were gonna order were not available! They only have 5 entrees and 2 were gone. And 2 of the more enticing sides were gone so??
google avatar

Joseph T.

Yelp
Sweet potato hash with spicy maple syrup was sooooo freaking good. The loco moco was good too
google avatar

Bryan B.

Yelp
Loved everything. Ordered macaroni salad, Mac and cheese with bacon, Nashville chicken sandwich (it wasn't the best Nashville hot chicken I've had since it didn't have enough seasoning on it, normally they should be covered in Nashville seasoning but it was just a topping it looked like), and the risotto.

Cynthia P.

Yelp
This place is boarded up. It is closed. Don't waste your time. Too bad it looked good. Will it reopen. Please update yelp.

Yelp
I'm new to the area, was looking for a great local breakfast and dinner spot and happily found Bluebird. The food is very flavorful, drinks are perfect and the staff is really friendly and engaging. I think this is one of those special places that needs to be on more people's radar, or it'll disappear. Strongly encourage you to check it out!

Yelp
Food and drinks here was soooo good! We had the prickly pear margaritas. Let me just say, those bad boys are strong as hell! Had mine with Tajin. They were really good. We had the Santa Fe Salad which was more than enough to share. The flavor was great and the salad was fresh! We also had the Bacon & Brie Burger with Elote on the side. The burger was phenomenal! The elote was really delicious too, I just wish they used fresh corn. But, most places don't, so it's ok. The only weird thing is the self ordering app. Call me old, but I'm not a fan. I could see this being beneficial if there is a huge group and everyone is paying for their own items, but I didn't like ordering from an app. Just weird. Give me a menu and take my order. Great addition to portage park. Can't wait to go back!!!

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Amazing food and great staff! This is what our neighborhood has been waiting for. Can't wait to make this one of our local go to's. The food is super fresh and made to order. The fried chicken dishes are amazing and worth the caloric splurge. All the food was excellent and can't wait to try more. Also the wine is inexpensive so all in all a great experience.

Yelp
Really good local spot for scratch made American pub fare. Have been once for lunch and once for dinner. Sandwiches and salads were great; duck fat fries are a must and the steak frite was Uber tender. We will be back!

Alyssa C.

Yelp
We visited in the summer with out-of-town guests to have dinner on the lovely patio behind the restaurant. Our group included individuals with limited mobility and hearing, and we found the patio to be very accessible for them, which was greatly appreciated. Food was excellent!

Jamie C.

Yelp
i've been here maybe 5 or 6 times now, and my primary issue is the inconsistency. every time but one, there has been some issue or other with my order. staff is always kind and accommodating when something is brought to their attention, though. they seem to have good people here. when the food is good, it's REALLY good. like, really REALLY good. this has been the case for me twice. every other time its been meh, including most recently 12.15.23. super overcooked chicken sandwich, kind of tasted like it was reheated and not fresh. i was in a rush to be elsewhere after my dinner, so i did not ask for it to be remade. noting that because i don't know that they wouldn't have fixed it if i mentioned it! it bothers me that fries are $5, and you don't even get a particularly generous portion. that's wicked expensive! after tip, my chicken sandwich and fries cost $23. i'm happy to pay that amount when i luck out and my food is really good, but it sucks to pay that much for something lackluster. this is also a very family friendly restaurant. that's fine and all, but every time i've been in, there's been loud children. i've also had food thrown at me by a child. i am not someone who hates kids, i think they're funny, and it'd be unreasonable to expect the restaurant to do anything here, but if you DO hate children this probably isn't the place for you. my final point of criticism against an overall "just alright" restaurant is that it seems like they've taken the pájaro verde chicken sandwich off of the menu. Yelp
Delish dishes and my hubby who is a chef loved his meal. Actually tried to recreate it at home and wants to go back to have it again!! Servers are always helpful & friendly & knowledgeable. Bloody Mary highly recommended!! It's cozy & comfortable too. We've brought the pup & sat outside. Can get steamy, best when weather is mild.

Yelp
I've been to Bluebird a few times and enjoyed my dinner every time. The chicken sandwiches are delicious and the service has been great. They have a cute back patio area for the summer and the dining room is small but cozy. Will be back once it opens again!

Yelp
Food was amazing! Very fresh. And drinks were even more amazing. Freshly made. No premixes. Will definitely return.

Yelp
It was recommended for their great burgers. Unfortunately they did not meet expectations and food was overpriced. Nothing against the staff. They provided great customer service.

Yelp
What a nice new spot that opened in The Portage's former location. Bluebird is very nice inside and also offers an outdoor patio. Service was friendly and prompt: special shout-out to our server, Gigi, who was extremely kind and helpful the whole time. The restaurant allows you to place orders and pay directly from your phone, which is so convenient and easy. Now for the most important part, the food: it was very good! I had the Gouda Burger and a side of Bacon Cheddar Fries, and all were on point. The presentation was a bit more casual than I had expected (food is served on trays atop sheets of checkered paper, kind of fancy fast-food style). but it was totally fine. Good value for what we received. Bluebird is a great addition to the neighborhood and I definitely recommend it.

Yelp
Solid neighborhood joint, good easy place to come with the fam. I've enjoyed the burgers and chicken sandwiches and the sides are tasty too.

Yelp
5 star food, 3 star service. I'm attributing service to this being a new restaurant with new staff. We had the truffle fries, Nashville hot chicken sandwich and the Santa fe chicken salad. All fantastic, solid food. The real winner was the prickly pear Margarita. It was strong and tasty, blows Parlor Pizza out of the water. Food order takes place on toasttab so there's really very little interaction with staff, but the little interaction we had was lackluster. We were abandoned at the bar for a little bit when we told them we had a reservation, and we never got any water at the table. I will give them some more time to gain experience before coming back again, but we will be back.

Yelp
They didn't have the happy hour margaritas- they said it was pre batched and made us order a La carte. We ordered wings and they ran to the garage to get them then served them cold to us

Yelp
Finally was able to try bluebird and it did not disappoint! Everything on their menu sounded delicious but I had limited room. I decide to try their Nashville Hot sandwich and I must say this is my favorite one, something about the rub I love, it's not hot and unbearable like others I've had, it was delicious. I hope to try their truffle burger, I kept over hearing that's highly recommended. Everything was 100% and at a reasonable price. Definitely coming back, finally another patio restaurant in the area.

Yelp
Had a massive and delicious lunch at Bluebird. They do not skimp on fillings for the sandwiches! I loved the flavors in my pesto chicken sandwich although it was too wet to pick up and eat after a couple minutes and I had to fork and knife it so it loses a point for that. I also loved their outdoor patio area, it's closed off and private!

Yelp
Took 35 minutes for 2 burgers ordering from the counter. They have a lot of Uber business and will not prioritize customers. Dont go there if you are hungry.

Yelp
This the cutest place in the neighborhood. I went on a Saturday night , I made reservations online just in case. We arrived at about 620 pm . There was only one other couple there . It was cozy , they had some 4 top tables and the bar with seating in front of the bar as well. The wait staffed asked if we would like a bigger table , we chose a small side table. After we sat then a few families walked in and were seated as well . The menu is very simple comfort food . We had salads and they were perfect size for dinner when you don't want something heavy. I ordered the drink , a blueberry collins . Delicious. Prices were very fair and we are definitely coming back to try more things off their menu. It's so great to have some lake view restaurants in portage park . There is definitely a restaurant boom happening in this area. So definitely go to bluebird.

Yelp
I ordered the Shrimp Po'Boy. It is not their fault it was not the way I like it. Too much slaw and tomato cut too thick, shrimp was lost in all this. I also ordered the onion rings. Again, they were not bad but not made the way I liked. I will try Bluebird again, just not those two items.

Yelp
Really small place, but food was great. A bit disappointing that a lot of menu items were unavailable or sold out, but still very filling meal. Good comfort food. A bit hard to find. Also, they have a break from lunch to dinner that I dont think they advertise on their website. I'd go again.
