Boba Guys Faces New Allegations of Sexual Harassment, Racism - Eater SF

"Boba Guys, the San Francisco-founded tea drink chain with locations in Los Angeles, New York, and across the Bay Area, is the focus of new allegations of racial discrimination and sexual harassment, just weeks after it fired a manager for racist comments made viz social media in 2018." - Eve Batey

Best New Cookbooks: Spring 2020 - Eater

"What Blue Bottle did for coffee, Boba Guys did for boba. Since Andrew Chau and Bin Chen opened their first shop in San Francisco in 2013, the brand has grown to include 16 locations across the country. Along the way, the guys behind Boba Guys have redefined what it means to drink the popular Taiwanese tea with modern drinks that go beyond the traditional milk tea plus chewy tapioca balls to include items like strawberry matcha lattes and coffee-laced dirty horchatas." - Eater Staff

Google
Boba Guys makes a delicious horchata, which is even better with boba. This location was empty and my order was ready within a minute; a great experience.

Google
Hot ube latte with a shot of matcha and boba. Yum!!! Such delicious, complementary flavors for a cold day. I love love matchas, and this one hit the spot just right, rich and flavorful. Didn't catch her name, but service was impeccable and sweet. Thank you!

Google
There’s a reason why everyone keeps raving about the Strawberry Matcha Latte here in these reviews. It’s been a week and I can’t stop thinking about that damn drink! I didn’t want to like it this much, and I’m no expert on Boba, but the strawberry matcha oat latte I got was so good! I enjoyed every sip, adjusting the balance of the three flavors. Their boba itself was quite tasty, too.

Decided to check out this neighborhood and came in here since there was no line and the space looks great for chilling. The black sugar hojicha on the seasonal menu was very tasty. Good tea flavor but definitely on the sweeter side. The kaya toast was crunchy and warm but the kaya jam was actually cold. Overall, nice place to chill or work in and the food and drinks are pretty good.

Google
A Boba Guys in the neighborhood is a sign that things are going to get more expensive. The only time I will ever walk into a Boba Guys is if there's no line. It's good milk tea, with good boba, but no way am I lining up for a half hour for this. That said, this place is clean and nice, with very friendly staff.

Google
Great drinks, and the staff is so friendly. I spilled my drink and they made a completely new one for me. They’re the best :)

Laura

Google
Great boba tea place with lots of drink options, nice ambience, and fun vibe.

Google
Good quality milk tea so you can still taste the tea along with the milky sweetness. Boba quality is great with some chewiness without being starchy in the middle. Big plus is that this location doesn't seem to suffer from the same huge lines as other locations.

Yelp
One of my all time favorite boba shops! Drinks are always so refreshing & made consistently at each location I've visited (ie NOPA, Union Square, Palo Alto, The Burrow, Santana Row, etc). The only downside is that it seems like each location has their own menu or exclusive items that are not available at another spot. My fav drinks are the HK Milk Tea, Black Sugar Hojicha Latte, Strawberry Jasmine Fresca, Lychee Milk Tea, Muscat Oolong Milk Tea, Pastel Paradise Cloud, & Black Sesame Milk tea.
google avatar

Yelp
The boba was average, the drink had a nice mango flavor. The service was ok, nothing too special but the aesthetic of the place is nice.

Yelp
I LOVE Boba Guys! I feel like there used to be so many boba places in the city and I was able to get good boba anywhere I went. My boba standards are high and all these years, Boba Guys has met my expectations every single time! I don't live super close to Boba Guys but I will go out of my way just to get it. Strawberry Matcha Latte is my all time favorite. If I'm not feeling tea that day, their Strawberry Fields is my next go to. I've given other drinks a chance and they do taste good, but nothing compares to those two.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not sure what has happened to this location but the last time I went, the merch shelves were empty (and have been for a while), the cooler was empty and there was only 1 or 2 baked goods. Boxes are piled up behind the register. It just looks neglected. My drink was fine but you definitely just want to grab and go.
google avatar

Yelp
Quick service on a weekend at 3pm! No line and clean interior. Ordered a strawberry matcha boba. The boba was kind of hard(?) and seems undercooked. The matcha flavor was strong enough but also the default sweetness was a bit too sweet for my liking. Would come again to try something else!

Yelp
After a day of basking in the sunshine at Alamo Square we were in search for a refreshing sweet drink to quench our thirst as we strolled Divisadero street. Boba Guys to our rescue with the appetizing menu and drink specials to draw us in. We opted for the strawberry matcha and the Korean banana milk after scanning the menu. (other contenders for ordering were the ube milk tea which seemed a popular order and the mango matcha special, which we will have to visit again to try). Strawberry matcha was sweet and milky and delicious, a perfect blend of all flavors without being overpowering. The Korean banana milk tasted like fresh milky bananas - both very refreshing drinks made well and tasted like good quality ingredients and not artificial. Took about 5 minutes or so to make the drinks once ordered- there are tables and seats inside to sit while you wait and to enjoy your drink at. Nice and clean on the inside, a few other people sitting around having drinks. Service was friendly and patient while we decided on our drink choices.

Yelp
I'm from LA and we have pretty good boba. Saw this is a popular spot in SF and tried their Korean Banana milk which is a stable. Drink was refreshing and tasted like fresh milky bananas but was not too sweet. It was good but not sure if I would get again. Boba was nice and chewy. Friend really liked the strawberry matcha.

Yelp
I usually get the hong kong style milk tea with boba. I honestly think its pretty good but For a smal cup of boba I find it to be over priced. Ive only been to this store twice but over all the service was fast. Theres some seating but during rush hours it's just a grab and go.
google avatar

Kristen F.

Yelp
Decent boba w good alt milk options. Both on the sweeter side -- note the sweetness level on strawberry matcha can't be adjusted (adjusted by volume of strawberry sugar)
google avatar

Yelp
Loooove boba guys!! One of the best boba spots for actual decent quality tea drinks. Not just overly sweet dessert style drinks.

Yelp
Ordered two different matcha drinks, boba portion and drinks were prefect :) The waiting time was alright since there was a little rush. Interior was clean and bright.

Yelp
I've been to boba guys many times, and today I wanted to try the Sapin Sapin drink, which is a drink form of the filipino dessert. It's made with jackfruit, coconut milk (and some coconut bits on top), and ube, which all sounds very yummy and the photo on the website showing all the layers was pretty enticing. I can't speak to the authenticity of the taste as I've never had the dessert itself. I didn't really know what to expect because I've never had jackfruit, but after trying it I actually really like the taste! The closest taste I can relate jackfruit to is lychee (maybe a blend of lychee and pineapple), and it just has this very tropical fruit taste - citrusy sweetness. The drink has a bit of a grainy texture perhaps due to the fruit and coconut milk. There's also some bits of coconut floating on top, which is crunchy barky as you bite into it and gets coconut stringy as you chew more. I personally can't really taste the ube this time. Note: I didn't get any boba or topping so I thought the skinny straw is fine, but it just didn't stir the layered drink up so I had to switch to the big straw. Even then it took some effort to stir and swirling the cup to get the drink fully mixed. Overall I really like this drink, I easily drank half of my 16oz cup. 5/5!

Yelp
Boba guys boba is nothing new, but I wanted to give it a 5 star review for being a better place to hangout than I thought. It's not super packed all the time and they have tables/wifi/outlets, so it's actually quite the hidden gem for that! The only cons are that there's no bathroom, and the menu prices are without boba despite having boba in the pictures. Other than that, the drinks are good quality and they have unique flavors! I got the pandan caramel milk tea, which was tasty.

Yelp
I don't remember liking the Boba Guys when I first had it in NYC. But coming back now, I've changed my mind! The cashier person was super informative and knowledgeable of their menu. Not a lot of drinks had milk subs, so I ended up with the Mango Matcha Latte with Boba, which did not come included. The drink was absolutely refreshing, delicious and tasted of quality! I was most impressed by their boba, which can be a hit or miss at places. I can trust them for chewy ones here! The Mango Jasmine Tea, a fruit tea, was also incredible as well! There is an emphasis on the teas here than fruit, so expect to really taste the fragrant jasmine! Both drinks were from their Summer Menu, and I paid around $13.50 for the 2. I wish the drinks come with Boba for such a high price tag, but the quality is above standards. I couldn't stop thinking about getting their Banana Milk soon after, so I'll definitely visit again for that.

Yelp
I dropped by this Boba Guys location while I was in the area for some boba. I've been to Boba Guys a few times before, but not this specific one. It took the staff a bit of time to help us place our order, probably at least 5 minutes. The store interior itself was nice with a little bit of seating. Since it was hot outside, I went for the Strawberry Jasmine fresca with boba. They also helped me sign up for their reward program, and it took longer than I expected. I ended up receiving a free Red Velvet White Rabbit cookie. Supposedly, I was supposed to get the cookie and a 20% discount, but the discount didn't work. The drink was pretty good, and pretty refreshing as advertised. I could still taste the jasmine tea, and it wasn't overly sweet. The boba, on the other hand, was probably sweeter than the drink, and it had a chewier texture, although it wasn't too chewy. As for the cookie, it was alright, but it seemed like there was mostly dough and not much chocolate or white rabbit candy. I think there were only chunks in it, and it didn't feel like the white rabbit candy added much to the cookie.

Yelp
Came here after a few hours at the park and we were happy to find seats inside. Not many boba places have seating anymore so this was nice! Ube Latte - super creamy but really sweet. It tasted like ube candy. I would ask to adjust the sweetness level next time. Korean Banana Milk - creamy and not super sweet. The banana didn't taste artificial which I appreciated. I'm not a huge fan of banana milk but this was good. The boba was overcooked as it was very mushy.

Yelp
Lychee tea and seasonal pandan matcha latte. Order online so you don't have to wait in line. Pick up is quick and seamless. The drinks itself are pretty refreshing however a bit on the pricey side. Why do they charge 8.50+ for just one drink? What a profit from there end. All in all, I frequent when I'm in the area and wouldn't go out of the way to come just for their drinks.

Yelp
I want to sincerely apologize for my last review. It was a huge mistake. I was losing my mind. Please forgive me. I am so sorry. This place is truly amazing and extraordinary. The service is superb. Everyone is nice and welcoming and friendly and kind. Very loving people. Thank you. I love you so much all of you. Have a beautiful day.

Yelp
I'm a self proclaimed Boba snob because I'm super picky about Boba. Who wants hard or nasty Boba balls- no thanks! Boba Guys does things right, every single time, regardless of the location in the city. While I miss the Sunday food at the Fillmore location and the Asian Art museum, the Boba drinks will always keep me loyal. My go- to is the Dirty Horchata- I can't get enough of this perfect horchata with espresso and Boba (although I loved it better when they sourced their espresso from Andytown- just saying). I also really miss the Machata (matcha and horchata) that they don't have on the menu anymore. I'm not sure if it's something they can make since I usually order online for pickup. The seasonal drinks are alway fun to try. No matter the location expect a line and a wait, which is why ordering ahead online is pretty awesome. Quality Boba, quality teas and drinks- ALWAYS!

Yelp
Free wifi (super fast too) Wall plugs Comfortable tables/seating Delicious boba and coffee drinks Friendly staff I came here to get some work done after running some errands nearby. Thought i'd take a chance here since I didn't want coffee. The space is spacious and casual and has all the necessary elements to get work done. Was not crowded due to it being a weekday afternoon too. Would definitely visit again!

Yelp
When: Sunday, March 6th, 2022 How: Delivery via DoorDash Time Ordered: approximately 3pm Time Arrived: approximately 4pm My Neighborhood: Outer Richmond ORDERED: Tie Guan Yin Oolong ($5.90): 24oz Iced (+$1), Boba (+$0.60), Almond Jelly (+$0.65) The hubby and I ordered lunch via DoorDash. I adore double dashing when I'm craving a boba as I can never make the min for free delivery with one boba. (The hubby isn't a fan of balls in his mouth. Lol!) This time, I decided to do Boba Guys. I adore almond jelly. It reminds me of the almond jello my mom used to make growing up. Boba Guy's version is slippery and silky with a light almond flavor. I enjoyed it. The boba however was just meh. I don't know if the beverage suffered from transit time, but they were a little hard. The tea itself was okay. I normally note extra strong if possible, but Boba Guys doesn't allow notes thru DoorDash. Glad I did a revisit, but I wish their boba and tea were better.

Yelp
Only reviewing the sapin sapin boba. I was not a fan. I felt like the entire drink was sipping the syrup from the jackfruit can. It was too overwhelming. I didn't taste any ube at all. I felt like that was just a smear on the cup, which is fine, but I guess I expected there would be more of it than just that. I was underwhelmed despite not having any expectation. It made me think how I would spin off a sapin sapin as a drink and I couldn't come up with an idea. I'd say this was more of a jackfruit drink in coconut milk, with heavy jackfruit syrup mixed in. Ambiance wise, the place was clean and the staff was nice. I just wouldn't recommend the actual sapin sapin drink to anyone.
google avatar

Julia S.

Yelp
This location isn't very different from their other locations. I ordered the strawberry matcha latte with oat milk (but forgot to change the sweetness level), so it was much sweeter than I expected (or wanted) but that was my own fault.
google avatar

Alisha S.

Yelp
Honestly not all that hype. I was kinda let down. I got the ube latte and it was powdery. The boba was nice and chewy though! Maybe I just got a bad drink. But I wasn't that impressed.

Yelp
Every time I come home I have to get my Boba Guys fix! Half a year later and I finally did. This was my second time visiting the Boba Guys NOPA location. My friend and I placed our orders on their online ordering system 10 minutes before they closed. Although the estimated time for our drinks was five minutes, I got an email confirmation saying my drink was ready two minutes after placing my order! My friend and I both ordered the Strawberry Matcha Latte. I got mine with almond milk and boba. The Strawberry Matcha Latte is my favorite and a Boba Guys classic. It's sweet, refreshing, and the silky strawberry purée pairs well with the smooth matcha. For getting my drink 10 minutes before closing, the boba was still chewy and fresh--not hard, thankfully. Service was decent. I felt bad coming in right before closing but the worker was helpful. He gave me my pick up order and provided me with a takeout container. Parking in the area is a hassle. Nonetheless, I'm a loyal customer and a huge fan of their drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally had the chance to try this famous chain and I am happy to say that this place does live up to the hype! Pros: -Very friendly staff. I went to 3 different location and all 3 had great attitudes and were helpful with recommendations. -Unique flavors! I had the popular strawberry matcha late and black sugar hojicha latte and they were fantastic.   Cons: -small stores. The areas I went to are pretty cramped and when there is a line you'll probably end up outside. -paper straw. These don't last very long so be prepared for a soggy straw if you don't have another straw with you.   The recommendation: If you are a lover of boba then you must try this place out. End of story.

Yelp
A nice Boba Guys location to visit. They have a cute indoor seating area (with outlets) and the service is very friendly. Also nearby is Alamo Square so you can bring your drink on a little walk to get your steps or fresh air in. The drink was tasty, no complaints there. Great to check out if you're in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Boba Guys has many spots around SF. I visited today and the menu was different and interesting, but more pricey than usual. I had a strawberry matcha with chia seeds(almost $7). It was alright. The matcha wasn't sweet. This Boba Guys is on Divisadero.
google avatar

Rose Y.

Yelp
I got the strawberry Matcha Latte since this is their most popular drink. It used to be a bomb when it first came out because it's such a creative drink. But with all the boba shops opening in the bay, i feel like Boba guys is kind of average . The drink is ok itself, it's just doesn't give me the impression like "this is so good, i want more of it". I wish there is more Matcha flavor. I might not get it again for a long time lol
google avatar

Rosalyn W.

Yelp
Yes, this is a tasty beverage. Boba Guys truly take tea to the next level. For sure. The matcha latte with strawberry bottom is remarkable. Never had anything like it. The stealthy caffeine buzz I get from this latte is smooth and doesn't jolt you like coffee. It's a sweet iced latte even though it's main ingredient is matcha. They layer the latte ingredients so you're left with a pretty green and pink drink to carry around. Love the strawberry jasmine iced tea. Best on a hot summer day. If you like strawberries you'll love this. The caffeinated jasmine tea is delicate and nice on the tongue while the fresh strawberry purée leaves you with a bright bite and relaxing vibe. I'm not into boba so I always get mine without. It's a texture thing. I'd give five stars but it's just soooo dang expensive!
google avatar

Yelp
It's okay boba teas. I normally come here only if I'm already in the area for something else. Recently came by because I had some errands to run in this stretch of town, so I came in for some tea.

Yelp
Looove the passion fresca. Amazing service, the sweet girly who works sundays and wednesdays with the nice man with the hat are my favs. Love how often he plays clairo

Yelp
Boba Guys Ratings: 4.5/5 Food: 4.75/5 - I got my boyfriend a drink from Boba Guys mainly because I was craving boba, but didn't want to drink the whole thing. I got Thai tea with pearls. The Chai tea has a burnt and smoky flavor with a good amount of sweetness, really refreshing. I asked for 50% sugar level with less ice. Their boba is always chewy and delish, not hard and firm with a great texture. Boba Guys always have high-quality tea and their ingredients are fresh, probably the only boba chain that consistently makes delicious drinks. Ambiance: 4.25/5 - Cute little boba shops located on Divisadero with plenty of stores and restaurants surrounding it. Boba Guys has a consistent interior design and layout at all of their locations. Inside is mainly white with minimal designs with a fresh modern look and causal vibe. Love their merchandise and menu is easy to understand and interpret. They got a ton of unique drinks and very customizable as well. Currently no indoor seatings available, only take-out. Price: 4.25/5 - I got the regular size drink (16 fl oz) for $4.75 and $0.65 for the boba. The total came up to be around $6 after tax. It is a reasonable price for some delicious boba in the area, especially ones with high-quality tea and boba quality. Service: 4.75/5 - Amazing customer service with great attitudes and super helpful with providing me with recommendations. My first time trying out the Chai Tea, and I was hesitant that I won't like it, but the staff was kind enough to reassure me and told me that I can switch to something else if I don't like it. Super considerate and top-notch service, and they have not let me down yet. BLUF: Been to Boba Guys many many times, and would always come in a heartbreak. I recommend their Jasmine Milk Tea and Ube Latte drinks too. If you are a BOBA lover like me, then you must try out this place. Literally one of my favorite boba place in SF and the Bay Area.

Yelp
I've been to other boba guys at other locations in the past. This place is slightly small. I got Strawberry matcha latte with tapioca boba and almond milk instead of regular milk. I got the small which cost about $5 and an extra $0.50 cent for the tapioca boba Tapioca boba is soft. The drink itself was not super sweet which is good. When you first get the drink, it comes in 3 different colors: red, green, and white but you have to mix the 3 colors before you drink it. To me, can't really taste the strawberry flavor...more matcha and milk but it was still good. I thought they made the drink fairly quick

Yelp
I've been to several Boba guys in the Bay. Our first time trying this location Sadly, never again! Hong Kong : this is one of their standards, but it was far from it. It was so watered down I didnt taste the tea, no hint of condensed milk, boba was so hard. Hojicha banana milk: don't get me started ..was it really ? My son said it had a wierd taste; not even a close to banana milk, hard boba again, no hint of hojicha. Caramel kiss: watered down milk u see the line of caramel on the bottom but you can't taste it , & they forgot the boba! Matcha strawberry: also watered down; hard boba, their house made puree was not fresh /tasted old & stale My whole family was very disappointed ; As mentioned we don't drive to the city as often; we live out of town. I regret not going back to let them know how dissatisfied we ALL were. Days like this, wish we went to my other fave boba place down the street.
google avatar

Nick N.

Yelp
I'm from LA and we've got pretty good boba. Wanted to try this place because it seems like a popular spot in the bay. I fit the black tea with oat milk and boba at 50% sweetness. I think they may have messed up my order with my friends and given me 25% sweetness because mine was not sweet at all. I'd be willing to give it another shot but not super impressed.
google avatar

Janice C.

Yelp
I'd share my boba with you. Uh, like NEVER. Those who know me have the common sense not to ask for a taste of my drink. As the oldest of four, I grew up sharing everything with my siblings, so I draw the line when it comes to boba. SERIOUS. Top quality loose leaf teas from Tea People, those grade A balls that are perfectly chewy, customizable drinks according to your sweetness, dairy preferences, etc. What more could a Boba Guys' fan girl want?! Personally, this is my favorite Boba Guys location. It's less crowded than Union Square and Fillmore locations, the staff here seem less stressed, drinks always come fast and never get my order wrong. There's few tables to host a couple of people and bar seating if you want to just browse on your phone while you sip your drink. And the whole DivCo neighborhood is popping with hot restaurants and cute boutiques, plus Alamo Square is a short stroll away. Now that you know the lines here are more bearable, you can thank me now. Because, that's the only thing I'll share with you.

Yelp
We ordered ahead and were able to pick up at the counter. The ube snickerdoodle and milk tea blondie were beyond AMAZING!! They paired so well with the tea and was a great pick me up in the afternoon. The chai was good but I wish it were stronger. My partner said the dirty banana mill was distinctly banana (which he enjoyed) but would try something else the next time. There are so many great drinks on the menu and I look forward to going again. And I would 10000000% recommend the pastries. Some of the best in town!

Yelp
This stretch of Divis is the latest block to begin gentrifying in earnest. It began 12-15 years ago with fan favorite and accolade rich Little Star Pizza and the expansion of Green Earth Natural Foods. Along with instantly popular Che Fico!, Boba Guys arrived last year and since then it's been ringing up business especially on sunny days with a line out the door when it's hot. As a small surprise, I picked up the iced strawberry jasmine milk tea with boba for someone smaller and I had the iced milk jasmine tea with boba. Being new to bubble teas I could relate to other Yelpers that the boba didn't have the chew I was hoping for. The boba also began melting in the tea and became less chewy. Still, their initial toothsome tapioca goodness was delicious with a molasses/chocolate flavor that contrasted nicely in texture to the iced tea drinks. Service was pleasant and speedy and the space looked über clean and inviting. Try to come on a weekday because weekends have a line out the door.

Yelp
Boba Guys is a must stop if you visit San Francisco! It's really famous so I wanted to try it out for myself. I will say overall it's a little pricey for my liking, around $5 for a small boba. This location wasn't too busy when I went (Saturday ~4:30PM). The workers were also very nice and they whipped up our drinks super fast. There's a good selection of options for different teas you can get, and you can customize your sweetness level and milk option. I ordered the matcha latte 50% sweetness with oat milk and boba. Personally, not the best matcha I've ever had and probably wouldn't try it again. They add honey to the drink, which kinda overpowered the whole drink. I love how they have so many boba options, especially the oat milk!! And their boba is very delicious, sweet, and chewy! I definitely want to come back and try other drinks.

Yelp
I've seen many posts and praise about Boba Guys and I've finally got around to trying it now. First thing comes to mind is the decor and presentation as everything looks and presented so neat. In my opinion, sometimes when it looks too good to be true, it is. It's a Saturday afternoon in San Francisco and not too crowded so I was able to order my drinks in a few minutes. Many selections to choose from so I went for the special editions that was out, which was the P.O.G. I'm a big fan of P.O.G juice and was excited when I saw this on the menu. Unfortunately it was a disappointment as I could not taste the different flavors of each fruit. The boba was about the only thing that was decent and got me to finish my drink. This NOPA location is fairly big and had a few tables to sit and enjoy your beverage. I think the decor is overwhelmingly designed and too much for a boba place but hey maybe it's probably the companies way of business. Another thing is, is it me or is the boba drinks getting costly? I mean it's no Starbucks where you get fresh ground coffee. It's just flavored fruit and tea then you add milk and whatsoever. Anyways I'm sure I'm at the end stage of this boba craze.

Yelp
I am always on the hunt for delicious boba. My standard in boba has increased over the years but Boba Guys....was simply life changing. I got the strawberry matcha latte and black sugar hojicha. Both of the drinks were really good but the strawberry matcha latte stood out to me. During my SF trip, I went to boba guys for this particular drink 3 times. I wish they had a chain where I am from in Texas. The only con I have is that they have paper straws but I hear a lot of places in California are saving the turtles and using paper straws! Takeaway: If you're a boba lover, try this place!

Yelp
Admittedly, I had been avoiding the strawberry matcha latte since I've discovered Boba Guys thinking the strawberry puree would just be too sweet. Oops. I can definitively say I've definitely been missing out now! I was surprised at how well the strawberry puree complemented the matcha. Using oat milk also gave the drink a nice thick, creamy undertone. Definitely competes with my default matcha latte with almond pudding which is consistently good. My old favorite, Muscat Oolong, has unfortunately been wildly inconsistent as of late depending on which location I go to. Speaking of location though, this Boba Guys is centrally located on Divisadero but I'm surprised it doesn't have later hours! Still, it's nice to have yet another location to get a sweet drink!

Yelp
Boba Guys has become well-known throughout the Bay Area ever since people started posting their drinks on IG. However, I've heard mixed reviews about Boba Guys in regards to their actual beverages and boba. Their menu is pretty simple and they pride themselves on having the best boba along with using Straus Family organic milk. My friend really likes their Jasmine Green Milk Tea so thats exactly what I ordered. // BOBA // Jasmine Green: Green milk tea made with Tea People jasmine green tea blend. Floral and silky, best with Straus Family organic milk. I honestly did not care for the actual boba which is a huge component of the drink. It didn't have the chew that I love and the drink itself did not stand out at all. Unfortunately, I did not care for Boba Guys. The boba was below par and the milk tea itself did not stand out in comparison to the countless other boba spots.

Yelp
"Organic premium-grade matcha, milk and our housemade strawberry puree. No adjustments allowed." I don't usually drink boba tea but this was absolutely delicious because it wasn't too sweet. Boba ball were chewy and the flavors mixed really well together. Just takes a few swirls to get the drink ready.

Yelp
This legendary boba shop is good but perhaps a tad overhyped -- this location is a small one that has a cute indoor seating area and is a stone's throw from Alamo Square. I got the house milk tea with boba -- the boba itself was really tasty (after all, what they're known for) but the tea was alright and tasted a little watery. It's definitely pricier than the average shop but I would try it again, though perhaps a specialty drink this time around.

Yelp
Stopped by Boba Guys this past weekend for a refreshing treat and decided to order the Black Sesame Latte w/ their house made Almond Jelly. Yum! The flavor of the black sesame was prominent but not over the top and I like that the drink is made with almond milk since they don't allow for substitutions or sugar level variations for this drink. The almond jelly was also very good. Not too sweet and the perfect amount of firmness. The workers make the drinks really quickly so if there's a long line; wait it out, it's worth it! Just a heads up, Boba Guys doesn't have the typical large array of drink options like other boba shops. They have the essentials (i.e. Jasmine Milk Tea, Thai Tea, Coffee Milk Tea, and so on) but they also have some pretty innovative and unique drinks. For example, their Matcha Strawberry Latte, Muscat Oolong, and Strawberry Cali-pico. They also have a Specials board near the register if you're feeling extra adventurous. Check it out for yourself to see what all the hype is about.

Yelp
Boba Guys is an iconic staple for boba shops here in SF and you can never go wrong with the Strawberry Matcha Latte! You'd think that would be a strange combination by the mix of milk with matcha and sweet of the strawberry go so well with each other!

Yelp
A favorite stop whenever I go to the SF area. Boba Guys began in San Francisco and has quality tea drinks that keep the people coming! This shop specifically is located about a block away from the popular Painted Ladies (and is a short drive to the Full House House as well). Recommend hitting all these three points if you're a tourist and Full House lover like me! :D Drinks are a little on the pricey side, but they're one of the best boba places in Norcal! PARKING: Street metered parking. STRAWBERRY MATCHA LATTE ($5): This is one of their best sellers! Because it is one of their specialty drinks, you are not able to adjust the sweetness levels or change this to a hot drink. I LOVE this drink and this will always be a go-to order for me. The drink comes layered with strawberry on the bottom, milk, and matcha on the top-aesthetically instagrammable. I also ordered this with light boba (+50 cents) and found their boba quality satisfying as well. This is a little on the sweet side, but I still really enjoyed it (and I normally get half sugar with all my drinks). Totally will be getting this again as the hype is real! My favorite! MATCHA LATTE ($4.50): Ordered this iced, but it also comes hot. I got this with half sugar and boba (+50 cents). It was not sweet at all, so I probably wouldn't go lower than half sugar (I'd consider 75% sugar if I was craving more sweetness haha). Highly recommend this drink as well and would get this again! RESTROOMS: This shop specifically doesn't have restrooms in the shop itself, but if you walk out and go through the first door to your right...they have restrooms just down the hall to your left. Very clean and well-maintained.
