Bobboi Gelato Graces Little Italy With Second Sweet Shop | Eater San Diego

"Having debuted a stand-alone gelateria on nearby Kettner Boulevard, the local company — founded in downtown La Jolla in 2014 — fills the ground floor of the AV8 mixed-use development and joins SuperNatural Sandwiches and Zinqué Restaurant & Wine Bar. Made by chef Monica Maccioni using traditional techniques, the gelato and sorbet cover classic Italian flavors from stracciatella to pistachio but are better known for unique combos like Charcoal Vanilla and Pumpkin Amaretto and for flavors based on local ingredients such as Rose Almond, made with Hopkins almonds and Lebanese rosewater. The Kettner shop’s Pozzetti case will hold 18 flavors including exclusive collaborations with area chefs and restaurants — for example Miso Orange Maple (inspired by The Crack Shack’s biscuits and butter) and Pineapple Amaro (made from Nolita Hall’s pineapple-infused amaro) — with future partnerships planned with Puesto and Cesarina. Open daily at 11 a.m., the 1,000-square-foot shop has indoor and outdoor seating, was designed by local group Arch5 with bright, colorful tile, and will eventually feature a wall-sized custom-painted mural; hours run until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday." - Candice Woo

Little Italy Food Hall Swaps Seafood for Gelato | Eater San Diego

"Expanding into Little Italy, I learned that Bobboi Natural Gelato — which first opened in downtown La Jolla in 2014 — will open two new locations: one on Kettner Boulevard at AV8, sharing the ground floor with SuperNatural Sandwiches and Zinqué, and another next month at the Little Italy Food Hall. They offer a rotating mix of flavors from classics to creative concoctions like Rosehoney (organic honey and Lebanese rosewater) and Poison Apple (charcoal, caramel, and granny smith apple), as well as seasonal, fruit-based flavors made with farmer’s market–sourced produce." - Candice Woo

LA Restaurant and Wine Bar Entering Little Italy | Eater San Diego

"Due in February, Bobboi Gelato will open its second outpost in a 900-square-foot spot at the corner of Kettner and Ivy; founded in downtown La Jolla in 2014, it combines traditional gelato techniques from Italy (its owners attended the Università del Gelato of Carpigiani near Bologna) with organic California produce and offers an array of gelato and sorbet, with popular flavors like vegan pistachio, charcoal vanilla with activated carbon, dark chocolate sorbet, pomegranate, and fig." - Candice Woo

I love the flavors at this place. They seem to be natural for real and taste deliciously. My children and husband also liked it a lot. My flavors were berry lavander and bacio. I just want to move to San Diego to have them close!

Pistachio was my favorite flavor. It is not too sweet and full of flavor. Nice place to sit indoors with the windows open and watching the airplanes land.

We came in just to admire the shop because it looked cute but Marcos convinced us to at least try it. Best gelato I have ever had! Stop and visit Marcos, he is the best!

Happy to stop in and try the Stracciatella & Moka gelato flavors. We walked right in on a Friday evening. As we wrapped up our order, we noticed the line was out the door, but it moved quite fast. Love the pure and organic ingredients, you can really taste the quality. Although not the best gelato I’ve ever tasted, it’s definitely worthwhile to pop in and treat yourself.

Bravissimo! Wanted to try the newest spot in the neighborhood and wasn’t disappointed. A bit pricey but flavors are impressive. Top quality, good variety, and a proper espresso to pair with it. The covers over the containers are a great indicator of quality.

Tasty gelato in a great location. We had the Julian Pie gelato (insanely good with a local famous ingredient) and the Mango We loved them both.
