Hangout with a retro-chic vibe for thoughtfully sourced, globally inspired cuisine morning to night.
"With eight items in total, plus a nonalcoholic beer, Bobo’s Snack Bar offers one of the heftiest mocktail or “knock-tail” menus around. Find typical riffs on margaritas, sangrias, and Moscow mules, plus fun additions, like the passion fruit Mockarita, made with Slow Luck non-alcoholic spirits, Liber & Co. passion fruit syrup, and housemade agave-jalapeno-lime juice, and the creamy Coconut Lime Fizz, a mix of coconut lime syrup, Bubb’s Seltzer, and half and half or oat milk creamer topped with whipped cream. There are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Lane Gillespie
"Bobo’s feels a little like stepping into Old Austin. Originally located on South Congress before moving to Airport Boulevard, this cozy bar with mid-century decor and a cute patio is a welcome escape from the busier streets nearby. The food is mostly pre-made snacks from other local vendors around town, but behind the bar, you’ll find a great selection of wines, beers, cocktails, and mocktails. Stop by for Happy Hour every day, or on Wednesdays when bottles of wine are half off." - Nicolai McCrary
"The casual Cherrywood cafe offers half-off bottles of natural and/or low-intervention wines on Wednesdays. There are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Darcie Duttweiler
"The newcomer cafe closed its indoor space and will require masks on the patio." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Bobo’s Snack Bar, a new snack and cocktail bar from the owners of South Congress’s shuttered Snack Bar, is now open in Cherrywood. It’s open as of April 29 at 3850 Airport Boulevard. Per owner Bethany Andrée, Bobo’s is less of a restaurant and more of a “community tasting room,” serving local snacks like egg rolls from Jeany’s Caribbean Elixirs, edamame hummus from Fat Belly Pretzels, produce from VRDNT Farms, and more. The one scratch-made item is masa cakes, a passion project of her husband and co-owner Karl Gilkey. To drink, there is beer, wine, and cocktails as well as coffee, tea, and sodas. Everything is sourced within 100 miles of Austin. Andrée and Gilkey leased the Airport Boulevard space, which was formerly a car dealership, in 2018, but faced delays from the extensive renovations and personal challenges. Eventually, Andrée, an artist/designer, took over as general contractor. “The only reason we decided to pursue another hospitality venture is because of this very specific property,” Andrée tells Eater, The resulting space has an eclectic retro living room feel, with art from local artists Laurie Frick and Sherri Bingham, a small retail space, and a patio with fire pits and tiki torches. The first Bobo’s Snack Bar opened at the Austin Motel on South Congress in 2009, inspired by a European restaurant of the same name. The name was later shortened to just Snack Bar. Snack Bar closed in 2016 due to restaurant crowding on South Congress. That restaurant space is now home to Mcguire Moorman Lambert Hospitality (formerly McGuire Moorman Hospitality) restaurant Joann’s Fine Foods. Bobo’s is open from 3 to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, for on-site service, with a patio area. The website notes that the staff is fully vaccinated." - Erin Russell
