"Lots of the salad selections in this guide morph and evolve with the seasons. But Boia De is the consistent home of the first salad we ever inducted into our own personal Salad Hall Of Fame: Luci’s chopped salad. It tastes like being catapulted headfirst into your favorite Italian deli during their lunch rush. Every bite is an altercation with oil, vinegar, pepperoncini, cannellini beans, tomatoes, and provolone. Close your eyes and you can convince your brain that you’re tearing into a 12-inch hoagie instead of eating a carefully engineered salad at a trendy little restaurant. Reservations go live on Resy at noon 30 days in advance. That is when you need to be at your computer, refreshing the page like your life depends on it. Use desktop, not mobile, so you can refresh and click around faster. If that doesn't work, Resy notifications are your friend. Boia De also holds space for nightly walk-ins. It’s a gamble, but try to arrive just before they open. Walrus Rodeo, their excellent sister restaurant, is a backup plan waiting for you next door." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer
"You should hit every section of Boia De’s menu, but pasta should make up the majority of your order. The rotating pastas have seasonal touches and an impressively high success rate. There are usually two versions that stick around on the menu (with little tweaks here and there): the ricotta gnocchi and the tagliolini. The latter is the only pasta in town served cold. It might sound odd at first, but it works in a city that constantly feels like a sauna. Reservations go live on Resy at noon 30 days in advance. "If this green bean-sized Italian restaurant ever was a secret, it’s not anymore. Still, their waiting list for reservations is less bleak now than it will be in January. In fact, as we’re typing this (on a Tuesday at 2:06pm), there are a staggering four available tables for that very night. Also, Boia De is good about holding bar seating and outdoor tables for walk-ins. So go to Boia De this summer. It probably won’t be as hard as you think. "What can be said about Boia De that hasn’t already been said about that chihuahua you follow on Tik Tok: it’s tiny, it’s adorable, and ever since you first encountered it, you find your thoughts drifting towards it multiple times a day. This narrow Italian restaurant on the edge of Buena Vista has one of those menus that's like a perfect album, with not a single song you’d dare skip. The only rules we’ll gently suggest are: order the chopped salad and the tagliolini nero. Also, set a timer for noon. That's when reservations go live for 30 days in advance (and then sell out within seconds). Or try to come super early for walk-in bar seating, which is our favorite seat in the house anyway. "Macchialina is where we go when we want near-flawless versions of Italian classics—but Boia De is where we go when we want an Italian restaurant that’s like when the Beatles did all that LSD. The dishes at Boia De have an Italian soul, but also taste like they were made using alien technology. The often changing menu includes a king crab tagliolini nero that's served chilled and a “crispy” tiramisu that’s both crunchy and creamy. Here’s the bad news: Boia De is one of the toughest reservations in Miami. So turn on those notifications or try your luck walking in for bar seating during the week.
