Quite possibly the best place to get a bagel in San Francisco. The bagels were real tasty, they had a very good toast flavor and aroma to them. And of course only pink label cream cheese. Deliciously whipped. The bagels are moderately priced and a generous portion. Just get there early they tend to sellout. Dos bagels up 🥯 🥯

they got an efficient operation but the bagels left something to be desired. lacked the characteristic chew and even though my bagel was toasted, it felt soft. skimpy cream cheese portions. save yourself the money and go to laundromat instead.

Onion sliced so thin you can't taste them, skimpy lox, no flavor profile. Lots of cream cheese though. Went early on a Saturday, line went pretty fast. Simply meh. You can’t call yourself a bagel spot and put cream cheese on ONE HALF of the bagel… seriously? I’m actually floored that they boast to be best bagels on the west coast. Granted the bar is low, but even still. So disappointed because I was really looking forward when this place opened up.

Very nice man working at the counter. Have had great experiences at the other Boichik in SF but sad to say today’s bagels were subpar: We got an eggything with lox and an eggything with whitefish salad. The bagels tasted a bit stale and the whitefish salad was much fishier than normal. Lox was good.

Please stop thinking of people who care about environment and future of your kids like second-class citizens. One vegan option with a store-bought Kite Hill vegan cream cheese for extra $2.5? It’s 2024, come on, I’m adding a picture of the options offered in a bagel place in New York that I made back in 2019 (5 years ago!) and last time I’ve been there they had more flavors, sun-dried tomatoes, scallion etc

Bagels were very good. Service was excellent. One star is lost for 3 Reasons #1.) they ran out of bagels on a Saturday 30 minutes before closing. I nearly had to get a pumpernickel bagel until I spotted out of the corner of my eye a bin with “irregular“ everything bagels, and I was able to convince the manager to let me have one of those…. There were six or seven people in line behind me that left because they ran out- likely all over $100 of revenue. Bagels are not expensive to make, please make enough (10%more maybe) for the customers that travel all the way to the store on a Saturday (where they could be doing many other things with their time) to get them. I understand you don’t wanna overdo it, but you can freeze them and sell the frozen ones, and you can also donate to the local food bank…. #2.) they only had artificial sweetener with aspartame. Please get some Stevia or other non-cancer causing 0 cal sweetener… #3.) they have a sitting area in the back that is pretty dingy so energy could be put into making it look a little nicer, and/or providing outside seating.

I honestly don’t understand how the reviews are so low; these bagels are fantastic. I always order avocado, sprouts, capers, and tomatoes, and it never disappoints. Whenever I try bagels from other places, they often end up stale and dry. But when I bite into one of these bagels, I always find myself wanting more. Some of the reviews really make me laugh—giving a place a two-star rating for reasons that seems excessive. But to each their own; I truly love this place.

Boichik has really good bagels but not the greatest. We got a plain bagel w. butter and a pumpernickel w. their seasonal cream cheese (maple/date?). I appreciated that they slather on quite a hefty amount of schmear and we got ours nicely toasted. Next time, we are eyeing to try a sandwich and/or the egg bagel - maybe those will be even tastier? I'd say Boichik is worth trying if you haven't had their bagels already and/or if you are shopping around Fillmore and are craving a bagel, this is a great option. Also, the line may look long but the service is super quick and simple.

I ordered to go from Boichik on a Saturday morning. The service was very quick! I got a custom eggything bagel with lox cc and really enjoyed it. The bagel was a reasonable size - satisfied me til lunch and didn't make me want to take a nap after. I do have to say, I don't really understand the comparison to NYC bagels. And I think they might potentially be missing a market for bacon egg and cheese bagels. Overall, I was very pleased and definitely will be returning!

I love bagels. I don't necessarily seek out a bagel shop but if I happen across one I'll make a point of trying one. Known as a New York style bagel I wanted to try one here. But running off to a medical appointment. I'll get one on the way back. While in the doctor office I checked Boichik's hours. Closes at 1pm. Of course the doctor was running late. Can I make it to Boichik? I dashed down to Fillmore St. It's past 1pm now. I go in and asked if they're still open. Yes. I knew what to order and how to order as I had gone on their website - which bagel, toast or not, and any spread. I went with the everything bagel, toasted, with chive spread. I paid and provided my name. Less than a few minutes my bagel was ready. I took it home. Plated it. Pros: * good size * dense * the everything seeds all remained on the bagel on every bite I took. Cons: * the chive spread was watery for my taste. I'm not an expert on New York style bagels but the bagel I ordered was very good.

First of all, the staff are amazing and by no means is there ANY fault to them!! This review is strictly about the bagels!!! The whole tagline to Boichik is that there are "Now good bagels in California" and THAT is a really bold statement. It is especially bold of a shop to claim that they are the best bagels in California (and finally good) considering that their bagels are MID, dare I say, the bagels are NOT good. The photos I took are deceptive, I opened up my bag and I was pumped for my lox + capers + shmear on a bagel. But the bagel was? crumbly? dry? not very chewy and the boiled outside had no bite? When I bit into it, it took me a long time to mash up the dry bagel bits in my mouth to swallow, and then all the filling squeezed out the other end? Maybe people are into this style of bagel but I am not. Even if I don't compare these to NYC bagels or Montreal bagels I would still call these,,,, not good. I feel like if you are just a middling bagel shop that's fine but to claim that your existence means there are now good bagels in California? ..,,yikes.... I guess we'll still have to wait :/

I got a everything bagel with hatch chile cream cheese, tomato and cucumber. The "everything" in the topping was very basic. The cream cheese also barely had any hatch chile in it. It may not be as good as the bagels in New York, but the price is more reasonable and fills you up for a couple bucks. I do wish they had the option to add bacon as a topping.

Cute new bagel spot on Fillmore! There was no line on a Saturday around 10:30. They were out of many types already, so if you want the most variety of options definitely go earlier in the morning (bagels will be fresher too!) I got a pumpernickel bagel with the sundried tomato pesto cream cheese, which is a seasonal flavor. It honestly tasted a bit like pizza. The bagel had good texture and had a generous amount of cream cheese. but it was overall pretty cold sadly. Would definitely recommend getting toasted if you like warm bagels. Prices are a bit high but it's a great filling breakfast. Super friendly and quick service. Some outdoor seats in the back.

Pretty good bagels here! I've been wanting to try out boichik bagels for a long time and finally made it over. The shop is right by alta plaza park -- there's no place to sit inside so we took ours to the park. The service was sweet and quick. I got the eggything with jalapeño cream cheese. The bagel itself was chewy and soft and the cream cheese had a creamy and rich texture. Bagel to cream cheese ratio was also top notch. A couple things -- first, the bagel seasoning was a bit light and could have been much punchier. Second, the cream cheese was not flavorful enough for me. It was missing the spice and brininess of jalapeño cream cheese. I'd still go again and try more things, and im hoping they introduce more flavours of cream cheese soon!

I know what people would say, it's not a New York bagel. Well, of course not because Boichik in the California. It's like saying, me trying to find a France croissant anywhere in the states. (rolling my eyes, i have tried over 10 popular bakeries and nothing comes close to a croissant from France.). Just get over it, lol. I really like Boichik! Yes, it's not a nyc style bagel but it's hits the spot. I been a few times already and I never eat a bagel outside of New York. Their seasonal spread is amazing. Pesto Sundried tomato spread, get it before it's gone. One thing that annoys me a little is that their toasting is not really anything. Even when I asked for extra toasted, its not really toasted too. Better than regular toasted but come on. I don't want it burnt but toasted please! Line can be long on weekends and rush hours but they move fast. They also do sell out on the weekends, fyi. My friend wanted to get a few for breakfast on a saturday afternoon at 145ish and it was sold out/closed.

Grabbed a bagel before heading out to a movie. Order at the kiosk and pick up your order to go (there is no seating). Vibe is a to-go deli. Everything is a la carte - choose your bagel and fillings plus add ons. I opted for the eggything bagel with their seasonal tomato pesto cream cheese and cucumber add on. I liked how plump the bagel was lol. At first glance the filling looks sparse but the filling to bagel ratio paired well. I also liked their merch from magnets to totes. A fun way to support them.

Delicious bagels! I stopped here on a Wednesday morning and there wasn't a line. The service was great and efficient, I got my bagel within 5 min! The store is pretty spacious but there isn't a sitting area. More of an "on the go" places. Really enjoyed my bagel and can't wait to return!!

Boichik is such a great addition to Fillmore street! The bagels are perfectly chewy without being dense, and I love that they toast the bagels lightly on the inside only. They get the cream cheese to bagel ratio right every time. My go-to order is an everything bagel toasted with lox cream cheese and a hot coffee. Service is efficient and the staff is super friendly. Pretty solid bagel, probably the 2nd best I've had in the city behind Laundromat. The bagels are very solid. I just got mine with butter but they do sandwiches as well. There are a bunch of locations throughout the city. Service from the staff was prompt and the vibe of the shop was very casual. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a NY style bagel!

We recently tried Boichik Bagels, came by right at opening so we could get the freshest bagel possible. My partner and I tried a couple of bagels: Salt & Pepper (not toasted) with the horseradish cheddar cream cheese and the Salt Bagel (toasted) with the hatch chile cream cheese. When first opening up, I have to give to them, they are very generous with the cream cheese, which I appreciate. A lot of bagel spots in the Bay are skimpy with the cream cheese, not here though. My partner is the opposite and doesn't like a lot of cream cheese, so if you are in that boat, I'd ask for a little bit less than normal cream cheese. Between the two bagels, I preferred the salt over the s&p. I think the pepper was the overpowering flavor and took away from the bagel, so going with Salt would be my preference. I thought both cream cheeses were tasting, can't go wrong with either IMO. Boichik's bagel I've had a couple of times because my parents love em and get them all the time. I think you like a denser bagel, boichik does that well. For me I prefer mine a lot softer, fluffier, and hot out the oven so it doesn't need a toast. I thought going early in the morning the bagels would still be hot, but that wasn't the case. Still a good bagel, just not my preferred bagel type. The location for this spot is great considering on Fillmore there's not a lot of options when it comes to a quality quick breakfast options, so a welcome addition to the neighborhood, I can see why there's usually a line.

A bagel loaded with cream cheese and veggies came out to $7.75, making it one of the most affordable meals in SF and giving other bagelries a run for their money. Pros: - Unique & plentiful cream cheese flavors - Lots of options for toppings - Best gluten-free bagel ever (I plan to purchase these in bulk) - Affordable - Generous schmear - Great location with lots to do nearby Cons: - Only 1 savory gluten-free bagel option (the everything bagel). I will not pretend like I'm a bagel authority. BUT I will say with authority this was absolutely scrumptious. There really aren't too many specialty bagel shops in SF but I'm going to go out on a limb and say a place like Boichik was much needed. I've yet to have bagels in NY so I'll keep you posted on how they compare. Really tasty everything bagel with a ton of chive cream cheese? I mean, how could this be a bad time? Good ambiance and friendly service. The new Pac Heights location is a welcome and perfect addition to the neighborhood. I ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with regular cream cheese and also tried an onion bagel with a sundried tomato and basil schmear. Both were just okay. Not at all memorable but I would definitely give Boichik shot to see if my bagel selection was just off or maybe I will not get toasted next time.

These are some of the best bagels I've had in the Bay! I came here with a friend on a Saturday morning around 10:30am and it was starting to get busy. I got an everything bagel with the Hatch Chile cream cheese and it was amazing! The cream cheese was very flavorful, but not spicy. My friend got the Classic, which came with a generous amount of smoked salmon - she really enjoyed it! The staff was very friendly too, but I wish there was seating. I will definitely be back again soon!

Excited that a Boichik Bagels in SF opened up! I went to the Berkeley location a few times when I lived in the area and the line was always insane. Happy to report that the wait is not as bad at this location, but it doesn't mean that it's worse. We tried the classic with no capers, and I think it was good. It didn't blow me away or anything, but it was a solid bagel sandwich. No in store dining so you have to grab and go.

This is a delicious bagel! Very high quality bagel itself. The classic is so loaded up with lox and perfectly proportioned toppings. Everything tastes so fresh. I've also gotten the lox cream cheese which is good but not enough lox, and their whitefish salad which is very classic and flavorful. The malt chocolate coffee drink is also extremely good

I got "The Classic" salmon bagel on an everythign bagel. I came on a Saturday around 1pm so right before they were closed. The walking area in the store was very small and tightly packed with people waiting for their orders. However, there was no line to order. You can also order online via Toast but they had closed the online ordering around when I checked, likely because they were near closing time. I wasn't sure whether to get my bagel toasted or fresh and asked the cashier for help. She advised to get toasted as the bagel was no longer fresh as it has been out for a while. Guess I have to come back another time near opening hours to try the fresh bagel! Anyway...10/10 classic salmon bagel experience. Haven't had a bagel this good in a while, and never in San Francisco. Very NYC reminiscent. The salmon was light, airy, perfectly just a bit salty, and the scallion cream cheese wasn't too much or too litle, giving it a perfect balance. The red onions and capers blended with everything with perfection. I'm drooling thinking about eating this again. Bagel was soft and chewy. Can't wait to be back.

I have to give one star, so that will be for great service. Just because you use a cute Yiddish sounding name doesn't mean you serve authentic food. I ordered a toasted onion bagel with butter. The simplest possible item and it was crap. The bagel rim was toasted but the rest of it was soft - top, bottom and middle. When I bit into it, instead of a crunch, I got chewy. As I chewed it became clear that this was a sub par bagel. It didn't have the usual heft of a good bagel and devolved into a pasty sludge. These are no better than the soft, cakey Thomas' bagels. $4.50 gone

Sunday morning, long line but moves pretty quickly. They didn't have any Asiago/cheese bagels. I ordered two classics and asked for them to be toasted. Got my order within 20 minutes, and we ate it in the car. It wasn't toasted, also, felt like it wasn't really anything special. Overhyped at $16/bagel.

What the heck is this deliciousness?! This is the best bagel I've ever had in my life! I've had all the bagel experiences in NYC and nothing even comes close to Boichik! Currently visiting SF from SoCal for a week and I've already had this stopped in 3 times. Can't wait to try the classic tomorrow! What will I do when I go back home? first time trying an eggything bagel which was pretty interesting because the egg in the dough made it a fluffier, breadier texture. you can argue it isn't a bagel anymore but I do enjoyed the lightness of it. wish there was more filling to match the thicc carb but bonus points for unique selections (I had the seasonal pesto & sundried tomato cream cheese on eggything bagel)

The plain bagel itself was tasty and chewy but all the bagels were dry. It's criminal. I don't know if it's just this location but we won't be ever ordering from a Boichik again. Can only waste our $ once with this dry bread nonsense. Schlok's is much better and always consistent.

I tried the location on Sacramento and then this one on Fillmore. Pretty disappointing. Bagel itself was decent though extra bready and chewy on the inside. "Everything " seasoning was a bit light. Main complaint both times is literally untasted - not even warm- despite requesting Double Toast option. Go the extra few blocks and get Wise Son's!

Boichik opened a new location Filmore and its, okay! Starting with the good, The staff was very nice and the interior was very clean. The vegetables were fresh which was fantastic. I got an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese, tomato, onion cucumber and sprouts. Tasted really good, but for the price I was hoping the size would be bigger. Iced coffee was subpar, but definitely will be back to try more bagels and spreads!!! 2nd best bagel place in the city

I went in fully expecting to be disappointed, and they didn't look special, but I toasted a poppy seed one and ate it with cream cheese and it was pretty great. It's not cheap for $3 but it's a fine bagel. Definitely one of the better west coast bagels.

By far the best bagels in SF. The everything bagel with sundried tomato & pesto cream cheese and sprouts. The bagel was soft, perfectly chewy and freshly baked. The staff were lovely, the coffee and cookies are delicious as well. Shockingly for this neighborhood the prices were less than I expected and the bagels exceeded expectations.

Built my own sandwich with lox, capers, chive cream cheese, and everything bagel. The fillings were delicious: the lox was wonderfully smoked, the cream cheese was rich, and the capers added a nice sharpness. The bagel, however, was nothing short of a disappointment. Even though it was supposedly heated up, it cooled down way too fast and become cold and tough to chew. To me, it was more like a regular grocery store bagel. Nothing like the crispy exterior, soft interior fresh bagels I had in NY. It just feels ironic to me the bagel was the worst part of the sandwich

They simply can't toast a bagel, I have ordered twice now and requested extra toasted and it comes out not toasted at all. It's lukewarm bread. You can even tell in all the photos they aren't toasted. Wise sons down the street is so much better.

I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese and lox. It was not a bagel. Bagel is not bread it's like its own subcategory of baked goods. It's supposed to be light, chewy with a good crust. What I got was a round piece of bread. The texture was so bready and not only that it was STALE. That's what shocked me the most bc I came in at 11 so it definitely shouldn't be stale. I've been to bagel places in nyc at 3pm and got a fresh tasting bagel... so dissapointed

Very mediocre... definitely not worth a NY comparison. This is the 3rd time a I've tried Boichik. Laundromat on Balboa still is by far worth the trek once in a while.

They have one gluten-free bagel. And that is the everything bagel. However. I'm not sure whether or not it was fresh. It was very heavy. And it tasted stale.
