The bagels at Bay Area import Boichik are just okay in LA - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"There’s a big blue banner outside this Berkeley-based bagel shop declaring “there are no(w) good bagels in California.” A bold statement considering: 1) there were already good bagels in LA before they arrived and 2) people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Because while Boichik’s thick bagels do have a nice crunchy crust, we found their insides a bit dense during multiple visits, with the notable exception being the fluffy egg bagel (the best one here). Whichever bagels you order, asking for it toasted helps. The limited menu only has a few sandwich options (lox, whitefish salad, and a daily special), and while we wish there were a few more choices, you can always mix and match sandwich fillings. The smart move is to swap in one of the flavored cream cheeses, like green garlic, hatch chile, or horseradish cheddar scallion, which gives the sandwiches a needed boost. photo credit: Cathy Park Food Rundown The Classic As the name suggests, this is a standard lox bagel sandwich—no more, no less. There’s a generous portion of smoked salmon, and the chive cream cheese, tomatoes, and red onions add freshness, but the dense bagel makes the whole package feel heavier than it should. The Mensch This whitefish salad sandwich is more refreshing than the classic, and the crisp veggies add contrast. It’s our preferred pick of the two." - Cathy Park

It's less than an hour from their closing time, hence they're sold out of lots of stuffs on the menu. Not hindering me from trying, I went for their Pumperthingle bagel, which was them of marrying pumpernickel and everything bagel (how genius!). Doubtlessly, giving a try on their Pink cream cheese, recommended as it's more tangy and apparently one of their popular one even in NYC. Ordering online was surely recommended to skip the line. Mine was ready in less than 10 minutes. I had mine toasted, and would say it's decent but I couldn't call out anything distinctive from other favorite ones in town, either the bagel or the cream cheese. I added almond butter on my bagel and felt that I should've requested it on the side as I could barely taste it and it's kinda pricey adding $2 for the quantity. Overall would say worth trying if you're curious. Plus point they had plenty of seats in front of the outlet, which most of my other favorite bagel places in town didn't really serve.

With a name like Boichik—a Yiddish term of endearment—you just know it’s gotta be good. And good is an understatement. This bagel shop isn’t just another trendy carb stop; it’s a love letter to the classic, chewy, golden-crusted bagels that define a true New York-style experience.

As a NYorker on a self-imposed exile, I am ebullient to encounter something that reminds me of home….bagel! Without further ado let’s begin this review. Boichik Bagels (est 2025) is a new SF based bagel shop that specializes in making and selling bagels. They are located on Hollywood blvd and Vermont ave l in Los Feliz. I arrived as a first time customer and as soon as you stepped inside you can smell the aroma of bagels being made in their huge oven. This shop offer 16 variety of bagels ($3.25 each) and 13 spreads ($1.5-$2.50) for their customers. In addition, they have coffee, fish & salad, specials and veggies as well as some merch. I had a Cinnamon bagel with strawberry jam and plain cc and an Iced Coffee. Both food and drink were decent in texture and quality. I wish it would blow my palate but sadly it did not. Furthermore, it’s quite disappointing they don’t have a Strawberry cream cheese on their list. That in itself is a downside, however, they make it up with other specials. Every NYorker expect that a bagel store should have that type of spread. So I improvised with what they have. Anyways, shop’s interior and exterior layout were spacious with a relaxing atmosphere. Staff, Paul E., was cordial and professional. Service was excellent. Prices seem reasonable. Finding a parking spot was easy. Overall, this is a decent bagel shop; honestly it ain’t the same as NY bagel. That’s the hard truth ladies and gents.

I went around 9-10am on a weekend and barely beat the rush cause a line formed immediately after me. Menu is to the point which I like and I also love that you can customize everything. I like their eggything bagel, lox, and the egg salad was also tasty. Bagels are chewy and big! Happy there’s a new bagel spot in town.

I picked up a pumperthingle (pumpernickel + everything) bagel with Kite Hill chive cream cheese, tomato, and cucumber. It came to $7, which I thought was decently priced. I enjoyed the sandwich, but the bagel was a bit hard. Great breakfast option for vegans in the area.

I’m really concerned about the amount of people out here who clearly never had a decent bagel. The first time I went was their opening. Barely got any cream cheese on my bagel as you can see. Posted about it on socials, and then they tried to put the blame on me saying I asked for a light spread. Classy. Not that anyone would know but I would NEVER ask for less of anything. Regardless of that I thought the everything bagel was alright. BUT I didn’t want to review them based off that since opening days can be hectic. So I went back 3 weeks later. Here I’m sitting with pretty much no one around. Ordered the same thing plus an iced coffee (they were out of them last time). The bagel was barely toasted. And overall way too chewy. Not like “ooh tasty chewy bagel!” chewy. Just a hard chew. Plenty of cream cheese this time around though! Iced coffee pretty bad. They asked “cream and sugar?” and I said yes if they had oat milk. Barely any milk as you can see. And NO sugar. I came back in to mention this. Oh we only do sugar PACKETS. OK. SO WHY DIDN’T I GET ANY?! Ugh. I’m sorry for the mess but yeah don’t get the coffee regardless cause it wasn’t good. I know it’s not a cafe but still just go across the street if you really want coffee at Go Get’em. Honestly don’t get anything. I rather make the trek to Maury’s. No fuss and quality. Or even go as far to head to Belle’s Bagels in Highland Park. And if you really REALLY want to wait in line like a hipster then go to Courage. I think trying this place twice was good enough to make a judgement call. I hope y’all realize I mentioned plenty of other options to check out. I just wish this one was a winner.

The staff and overall vibe are really warm and wholesome. It’s hard to describe but the environment is super welcoming even though it was insanely busy when I went. Got a classic on garlic and an egg salad on everything and both were great.

First trip to boichik and i was pretty pleased. Cafe seating outside very nice. The counter / line/ drinks/ menu situation is a bit awkward on a Sunday with the line. So the food,I ordered a mensch(whitefish tomato cucumber)with a bit of regular cream cheese on an untoasted everything bagel. The sandwich was up fast and even with the crowd, got a table outside no problem. First bite delicious gushy everything squirting out of the sandwich just like an Ess -a-bagel salmon salad sandwich of my youth.Chew of the bagel was very nice, late sweetness of bread cut through everything.I will return and update this review to include bagel flavors and bake comments. $15.30 with tip for a fat delicious sandwich with about as authentic a sunday smoke fish sandwich eating experience as Ive found (and i look)

Yelp
This bagel place is in the Loz Feliz area and has plenty of outside seating which is lovely on a nice day. I loved how the kitchen was super open and had an industrial vibe. Our server was friendly and the kitchen staff responded positively when we notified them that they had missed an ingredient from our order. The bagels themselves were nice enough, though not the best I have had in LA. There was plenty of choice, though it was interesting to see no meat options. I would recommend their salt and pepper bagel- delicious! One thing- I asked for very little cream cheese, and they still gave me a lot more than I would have wanted, which was a little annoying. Still, I can't expect everyone to know what I mean by very little, I guess.

Yelp
Decent bagel spot in East LA. I visited this bagel spot for brunch on a Saturday and it was decently busy. I really liked the concept of building your bagel sandwich which was unique. They also had a menu of pre-selected bagel sandwiches which was a good option for people who wanted a recommended combo. I ended up getting the Classic Boichik Sammy which was decent. Even though I requested for my bagel sandwich to be toasted, it didn't feel like that upon receiving my sandwich and my other friends felt the same about their sandwiches. The exterior of mine was slightly heated, but the bagel itself was on the tougher and chewier side which I didn't prefer. It felt like the bagel wasn't fresh. The fillings were pretty good though. I liked how they gave a good portion of the yummy lox. The cream cheese was creamy and flavorful and I also liked the freshness and tanginess of the capers. I wish there was more onions though. I also liked the thick pieces of heirloom tomato used in the sandwich. For $16, this wasn't a bad price considering other places in LA with the same type of bagel sandwich. This shop also has a nice outdoor seating area which is mostly shaded. A good spot to relax and enjoy a bagel sandwich. The service was also pretty good. Overall, an okay experience here. I'm ranking this as mid mostly because of the bagel itself which is the main product of a bagel shop. I wish they had served me a fresh bagel that was warm and had good textures.

Yelp
The bagels are great but they need to copy the menu from courage bagels and they'll have lines around the block. Service ambience and location are great. Menu is too basic airport esque. Could be 5 star

Yelp
So good! I went here a week ago and I'm still thinking about the veggywood sandwich. It was so good. I split this and everything bagel with chive cream cheese, also very good. Service wears great, the staff had good recommendations. Really quick to order and get our food. Tables outside to eat at. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting the Los Feliz location, though I've been to the two Bay Area locations several times and always make it a point to stop by when I'm nearby. I'm a big fan of Boichik overall, but unfortunately this visit didn't quite live up to my past experiences. I got a pumpernickel swirl bagel and ate it about 30 minutes after purchasing. Compared to what I've had in the Bay, this one was noticeably tougher and more difficult to chew through -- it just didn't have the same soft, fresh texture I'm used to. I'm hoping this was just an off day or a batch inconsistency, because I really love what Boichik does and want to keep supporting the brand. Looking forward to giving this location another try soon.

Yelp
Coming all the way from New York, just felt missed out for not trying. Having it on my list for awhile, and coincidentally realized last weekend that the matcha place I went was just in the same block. Pretty catchy with its bold blue color, the place just couldn't let itself be missed. It's less than an hour from their closing time, hence they're sold out of lots of stuffs on the menu. Yelp
Loved getting to try this new bagel place! The lox was super fresh and my bagel overall was very tasty. I got to try a bunch of different kinds, and I really liked the poppy seed, the onion, and the sesame seed bagels. The people working were extremely kind and helpful, which was so nice. They have a good size covered patio that is perfect to sit outside on a nice day!
google avatar

Yelp
Yeah, this is the one! My friends who live in the same building as me have been coming here for the past three weekends in a row - it's now become our March ritual and I fear it is not ending any time soon. The bagels are perfect and everything you expect in a NY style bagel. Must be the water (iykyk lol) The only con to me is the cream cheese - I got the hatch Chile cream cheese and green garlic another time and I honestly could not taste the difference in the two... They were not stand-outs, but the quality of the bagels make up for their lack of cream cheese distinction. I would have loved to taste the heat and aromatics of the ones I tried, but anyway! Lines are a thing on the weekend, but it goes by pretty quickly so give it a try. See y'all this weekend (most likely!)

Yelp
I ordered an everything bagel with chive cream cheese, tomato, & cucumber. Service was fast from ordering to receiving my food. The bagels seem to be baked a little more (a bit more darker color on the outside) which I like! They put a good amount of cream cheese on & the veggies were fresh. There is plenty of covered patio seating & dog friendly. Parking- street parking or metered street parking

Yelp
We were looking forward to trying Boichik. They took over the old Umami Burger space on Hollywood blvd. So went on a recent Sunday morning. It was pretty busy.. I ordered "The Classic" to share with my son; Nova Lox, chive cream cheese, tomato, red onion and capers on a toasted onion bagel. It was good but not quite great. The toppings were ice cold so it took away from warmth of the toasted bagel. Still, pretty tasty but just a bit messy to eat. We wondered if they might serve bagels open faced as that might be a nice option. My wife got a toasted sesame bagel with the Hatch Chile cream cheese on the side. Nice. The coffee was ok and we passed on the OJ as it was just Tropicana.. All in all, it was nice to have a decent bagel close to home. The service was friendly and fairly quick. 7.5/10 But, Courage Bagels is still a perfect 10/10 and worth the drive, the wait and the expense. Belle's Bagels is also quite good. 8/10

Yelp
Writing this on behalf of my friend who has been twice since visiting LA. She says the bagel is up there with a classic NY bagel shop and really hit the spot. The order: a toasted egg bagel with chive cream cheese. She appreciated the cream cheese to Basel ratio compared to the insane amount of cream cheese smeared on in nyc (not necessarily a bad thing!) The service is also great. Staff is super welcoming and their coffee is a great price for the neighborhood.

Yelp
Now that Boichik has a Los Angeles outpost, I can finally get a sense of what has led to such favorable reviews. I've gone a few times now and while I thought the bagels were good, I was not blown away. The service has been consistently friendly and welcoming, and the employee interactions have been a highlight of past visits. I would recommend visiting on the earlier side if you are looking for a specific type of bagel; I visited once a few hours before closing, and the supply was quite limited. I tried the classic bagel sandwich during my first visit, and while I liked the combination of lox and cream cheese, I thought the sandwich topping were too cold. I've preferred getting toasted bagels with cream cheese on subsequent visits, and I'll probably stick with these simple orders for now.
google avatar

Lori A.

Yelp
I think it's really difficult to pull off a good bagel spot because it seems the same all across bagel joints. This place didn't particularly stand out to me and felt like an average bagel, however, their cream cheese was delicious! Do I think this place was out of this world? No. Do I think it's worth trying? Once.
google avatar

Alexandra B.

Yelp
Finally tried Boichik and I really liked it a lot, probably my new go to bagel place in LA! Staff was really friendly when we walked in, and service was efficient! It wasn't too busy because it was rainy out but that also made it way easier to find parking too. There's cute outdoor seating and it's covered. I had my onion bagel toasted and it had really good crunch on the outside and a good chewy center with the perfect amount of cream cheese in the middle. I'll definitely be coming back when I need a bagel fix even though I do think getting a whole dozen bagels here is a little expensive.

Yelp
Are these the best New York-style bagels in the USA? It could be. Compared to the newly opened H&H Bagels in Santa Monica, considered the "gold standard" of New-York style bagels... Yes, I think so. If you're a bagel fanatic like me, you'll want to pass on H&H Bagels and instead visit this bagel shop coming to us from the Bay Area. With another location coming to Los Angeles in the Bradbury Building, they are set for even more locations in the LA area. The bagels are "puffier" than H&H Bagels which is a bit more dense and flat. Boichik's bagels are more flavorful, chewy, and sweet. I tasted it with and without cream cheese at home. Just like the bagels I have had at Ste-Viateur in Montreal, you don't cream cheese and it is fine on its own. The amount of lox cream cheese was just right. Not too much like the one I had at Liberty Bagels in New York and not as sparse as H&H Bagels I had in Santa Monica. The entire team I interacted with were friendly, made eye contact, and service oriented led by Los Feliz store manger, Travis. Los Feliz, you now have some of the best bagels in the country in your neighborhood. Lucky you. Wishing founder, Emily Winston, and her Boichik Team the best in Los Angeles. Welcome to LA.
google avatar

Sooin L.

Yelp
I've been dying to have boichik in LA and so excited to finally see them here (they told me July 2023 they were "planning on it")! I assure you this will be one of the best in LA bagel scene now. They also offer half dozen bagels pre-frozen for you to take home. Workers are friendly, service is quick. It's nice that they have outdoor seating available. Parking on their actual street isn't great but not bad around the neighborhood

Yelp
My favorite bagel place is now opened in Los Angeles!! A few of you might remember my raving review about Boichik Bagels located in Berkeley, CA. Well, they expanded and recently opened a new location in Los Angeles! My bagel and lox sandwich was So Good! What a wonderful thing it is to have a freshly baked bagel served with deliciously thick cream cheese, fresh vegetables, tasty capers and delectable lox! Yum! The place is very popular - we had to stand in line to get in. The seating is limited - can it be expanded? And the wait to get our food was long. Nevertheless, the Bagel and Lox food experience was simply superb! During our visit, we got to meet Emily, the owner of Boichik Bagels! Emily, thank you for bringing this delicious bagel shop to Los Angeles! Now, there are finally good bagels in LA! We hope that one day soon you will expand the magic of Boichik Bagels to The Valley.

Yelp
Great bagels with garlicky, velvety cream cheese that has the perfect consistency. No line and no wait on a cloudy Sunday morning. I am not one to wait in a line for an hour for a BAGEL so I would much rather come here for a quick bite TBH. Excited for their upcoming downtown location
google avatar

Aileen K.

Yelp
I got 'the classic' on pumpernickel caraway salt and omg this is the best lox bagel I ever had in LA. The salmon is insanely fresh and clean, the chive cream cheese is light and not too heavy, the onions were so crispy. 100/10 better than other popular and overhyped bagel spots in la. Delicious
google avatar

Jeff F.

Yelp
They don't take cash. It's clean, folks seem nice, but card only is elitist and just plain wrong. Too bad.
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
I've been here twice already and am a fan. Coming from New York, I missed a good bagel! Would highly recommend this place over other local options in Los Feliz. Favorite bagels are the eggything and pumperthingle. LOVE the green garlic cream cheese. The egg salad is all right if you prefer a more bland style, but I do not. I like the more mustardy versions with scallion (if you do too, go to Maury's Bagels...their egg salad is LIFE-CHANGING and their bagels are also delicious!). The only thing I've extremely disliked here is the iced coffee. It tastes like a watered down, stale version of drip coffee. My hack is to go to Go Get Em Tiger first (it's across the street) and pick up a cold brew and then head over to Boichik for a bagel. Get a little extra exercise; it's a win-win.
google avatar

Yelp
The bagels are delicious! Well proportioned ingredients. I got the classic and it was marvelous. Exactly what I was craving. I will say it's pricey. 1.25 for a butter and 2$ for Nutella as an add on is a bit wild. And a bagel sandwich for 16$ is a bit steep. The seating was so cute and welcoming. I like how open the floor is and we can see into the process. The windows into the shop are also amazing. Everything screams inviting. The service was stellar. Everyone was lovely and my cashier Matthew was very kind. The tall big blonde guy and woman with brown hair were also super sweet when I ordered a second sandwich. I asked them if they did open faced sandwiches, it would be something cool to add! Definitely will come to this place again but not often as much as I'd like because of price :))
google avatar

Josh M.

Yelp
Love having a solid bagel place in the neighborhood. Salt bagel? Egg everything bagel? The option to add veggies? Heck yeah. But gotta say, it's pretty disappointing that they will no longer offer water to customers. You're really gonna make everyone buy a $4 water in a metal bottle? UPDATE: cups of water are back!

Julia L.

Yelp
Great bagels for being in Los Angeles!! Service was good as well, interaction with the cashier was very friendly. As someone from New Jersey, doesn't quite live up to a true New York bagel but still a great bagel for being in LA. I got a sesame seed bagel with plain cream cheese, tomato, cucumber, and sprouts.
google avatar

Yelp
Born and raised in LA Chicano I don't know much about bagels but this place is good I like the cinnamon raisin bagel with strawberry cream and the choco malt ice coffee was good. I'm happy I can ride my bike here and pick up an order

Yelp
Love this place. Great selection and feels like a ny bagel shop. Even the coffee is served like they do in ny.

Yelp
amazing to have a new bagel spot on this strip. pretty busy but it goes quickly. i got a lox bagel and thought it was great. a substantial portion with a nice chewy bagel. i saw they have a lot of options on the menu. there's a small seating area in their patio out front. street parking only i think.

Yelp
Mediocre bagels at best + low-quality service. Before my family and I even sat down and got our bagels, I already had a bad taste in my mouth because the woman who took my order was visibly irritated with my toddler making noise and covered her right ear as I was trying to order. Mind you -- this is a bagel shop (not a library) where you order at a the register, while a man calling out orders is literally yelling at the same time, and the entire time. She knew she rubbed me the wrong way because I told my partner to take our daughter outside and then tried to compensate for her attitude by making small talk. I ordered The Mensch and knew it needed cream cheese to balance the saltiness as soon as I took my first bite. I sent my partner back inside to order (and pay for) a side of cream cheese and the woman at the register said they couldn't sell him a side, so made him pay for a tub of it for $7. What a joke! New Yorkers are such bagel snobs, so if this is the standard for bagel greatness, please come here to keep the line at Courage Bagels short -- that way I can enjoy my delicious hipster LA bagel much quicker. Thank you!

Yelp
Delicious New York style bagel! You can build your own sandwich or order a preset one on the menu. Outdoor seating available.

Yelp
Boichik opened their first SoCal last week. I have been in twice. The first time to order sandwiches, the classic lox on egg everything with their "pink cream cheese." The pink cream cheese is their version of the east coast Temp Tee. I saw another reviewer mentioned the cream cheese did not have the tang they wanted but the pink does. The second sandwich we ordered was the Mench (whitefish) on sesame. We split them so we got to enjoy half of each. The second time, today, we ordered loose bagels, whitefish, pink cream cheese and lox and made our bagels at home. The bagels are great, good flavor and texture. There are very few places that even have egg everything bagels which are our favorite. While my preference is an open face bagel, which I was able to make at home, their sandwiches did not disappoint. The lox and whitefish salad are both really delicious and good quality. The only thing I didn't love was the malt iced coffee- tried it because it sounded interesting but it wasn't for me.

Yelp
While just walking by after getting coffee, we noticed that this bagel shop soft opened today. We were compelled to go inside after reading the banner "There are no(w) good bagels in California." Now, eager to try, we waited in a a quick line. The staff was very friendly, and the cashier then informed us that the bagels were comped for this soft opening, so we were stoked. We just got a simple sesame bagel toasted with cream cheese, and a plain toasted with cream cheese. They tasted very fresh, and had a good portioning of cream cheese. Looking at the menu, the prices are also very reasonable for the area. There isn't any seating inside, but there is a covered patio out front with ample seating. Overall, was a great experience. The owner of the business was very nice, and is from New York/Jersey. We will definitely be back when in LA.

Yelp
I was blown away by how tasty these bagels are. We decided to stop by for a bite for lunch and there was a long line of people waiting to eat their bagels. We travelled a long way to eat at their new location, and it was totally worth it! I wish there were more tables, though because this new location is super crowded with people and our party was fortunate to have found a table. But once you try the bagels, you'll understand why all these people are here in the first place.

Yelp
Former New Yorker here (Long Island to be specific) and I gotta say, the bagels here are... fine-ish. I got a non-toasted everything with chive cream cheese. The bagel was on the smaller side and the shmear wasn't big enough. Also, the chive flavor barely came through. Honestly, I left hungry. The service is definitely going through growing pains, which I get... But to walk into an empty spot and have to wait over 5 minutes for them to slice a bagel and slap some CC on it is kinda ridiculous. I'm assuming the online orders took precedence over mine, which seems silly and short-sighted and would keep me away from there in the future. So, I've had better experiences at Maury's and prefer the bagels at Bagel Broker and Western. I doubt I would seek Boichik out again, but would eat them if someone else brought them over for brunch.

Yelp
After living in the New York tristate area for a couple of years, I respect and love the NY bagel. It is in a class of its own. Folks, despite the owner of boichik being from Jersey, this bagel is NOT IT. While the bagels look delicious and have a solid amount of seasoning on the outside, the everything bagels we tried were bubbly and dense on the inside -- clearly did not get enough prep time before cooking. They were so chewy that my jaw got tired. Maybe it's a location thing and they don't have the recipe down, but weird for a chain. I might try a different location once more, but overall deeply disappointed. These are not the best bagels in California by any means. In fact, Vons/Safeway has far superior bagels. Buy some there and make it at home for an enjoyable experience.

Yelp
Went in for a breakfast sandwich but didn't have eggs, bacon etc so decided to just get 2 bagels w/ cream cheese. When I proceded to pay w/ CASH, legal tender, I was told card only. Had no card on me only cash! So was turned away! Sad to see businesses that narrow their options of pay, I won't go back!

Yelp
Saw long lines so was curious about this new shop. It was less than 30 min till closing and we just figured I would just pick up 2 fresh bagels to go. They had 2 registers and only one open to take orders while the other "using to keep inventory". Emily ..i believe her name was..who was an owner was just walking around. Again an extra register would be great. Waited 20 min in line to order which i think is absurd. They had prepackaged bagels in the fridge, but I wanted the fresh ones. Ordered 2 sliced everything bagel and a garlic bagel. Unfortunately I was qued after another person who ordered 4 sandwiches made for take out so i again waited. The staff was friendly. Place was clean other than the overflowing trash bin filled at curbside from customers disposable trash. Bagels were quite good. Pricier than most. Sandwiches were costing about $16. Would I wait that long to purchase bagels fresh to go? No. If they had just a takeout line for plain bagels, yes. Would I dine in? Tables were limited to 6 to 8 but all were taken. Parking in the area is hard and you have to circle around to find a spot. Spots are limited to 2 hrs.

Yelp
If you are looking for the bagel of your dreams...keep looking. We have been anxiously awaiting the opening of this place since it was announced. And the overall experience was...well...bland. I grew up in NY, lived near H&H and I remember the experience of just biting into a plain bagel and getting that wonderful, complex bagel taste. The options are pretty limited...no bagel/egg sandwich options, which is my go-to, unless you go for their egg salad on a bagel, which I wouldn't. Their cream cheese had no tang to it. It was very disappointing. The coffee was also pretty bland. And I know it was opening day but they messed up my order...gave me someone else's then gave me someone else's....it was all very confusing.

Yelp
great bagels and an equally great, fun addition to the neighborhood! i'm from ny. i know what iconic west side ny bagels taste like and this is it! plus the vibe, energy and freshness of the place make it an inviting spot to hang and enjoy some respite. i had a cream cheese with lox, plain bagel for lunch and it totally hit the spot. it was overflowing with cream cheese. maybe a bit too much tbh bc there i was with white stuff smeared all over my face! but it was certainly delicious and tasty. staff is energetic, eager, nice. sitting on the boulevard and enjoying people watching at the bistro-like space adds to the enjoyment. the open air kitchen is also very interesting to watch. took a few bagels to bring home too, and there are great instructions right on the bag how to eat or store (slice, freeze) them. they def have bagels down to a science, and an art. met the owner who was nice as can be, and whose story and quest for bagels was also interesting and inspiring indeed. a great new neighborhood joint. delicious bagels. highly recommended.

Yelp
Ok. New bagels places are popping up all over Los Angeles. So let's try Boichik. The place is clean and you get to see everything BTS and the staff are very welcoming! Remember your name and use it. The test was my NJ husband at home. He LOVED it. The best NY/NJ style bagel he has had in LA.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to this place. I moved to LA from NY years ago and have been missing good bagels. Everyone hyped up this place so much. ...the bagels are a step above a Dunkin' Donuts bagel. They were extremely dense, stale, and burnt. These are the best bagels in San Francisco?? God help them. They don't even make a breakfast sandwich it's just cream cheese. Staff was nice, all love to them. But don't believe the hype. Don't waste your time or money.

Yelp
Finally! A really great bagel in LA. My buddy and I split a white fish on salt and a lox on egg. All of it was excellent - perfect way to start a day.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Mediocre bagels. Cocky-Tone Deaf Marketing. LA has great bagels already but I wanted to try this new spot. My first time at the counter I was instantly skipped over after a register closed. The first cashier left to help with orders so I told the next register with the guy with glasses at the front desk, only to be met with him trying his damn hardest to ignore me. After skipping me over Three different orders I finally got him to notice me. No acknowledgment or anything and he even looked annoyed doing his job. There are definitely better bagels and bagel shops in LA.

Yelp
Cute shop and friendly staff. Unfortunately the bagels were not great. The everything bagel had an odd sweetness to the dough. Perhaps they used some rye flour? And the bialy (ideally toothsome and generous with flavor) is like a plain doughy thumbprint cookie with a dollop of super salty onion confit just in the middle.

Yelp
Solid spot for bagels, but I want blown away. Wish they had more variety of spreads. The classic sandwich with lox, I could skip. The horseradish cheddar spread was surprisingly very enjoyable. Pumperthingle is my top choice

Yelp
First, staff is great. Been twice, both times very pleasant and easy staff. Went on weekdays and line wasn't bad. BUT either everyone just really wants to love this place or they've never had a decent bagel. Not a bagel snob at all. But this is the Bay's best bagel? It's very ordinary. Not close to the best bagel I've had in LA. This bagel knocked your socks off? What am i missing here?

Yelp
The best New York Bagel for sure!!! I grabbed a plain bagel with Lox spread 2 days in a row, loved it. This is definitely going to be my go to Bagel place from now on.

Yelp
Great Bagels! Nice and clean open kitchen! Its the krispy creme of bagel shops! Tried the cream cheese and lox. Amazing!
