The service is amazing but the food… needs work. The Japchae was genuinely so horrible the noodles were over cooked that u couldn’t even get them to stay on the fork that’s why they give u a spoon. Why are there more onions and bell peppers than anything else in that dish? It said it’s supposed to have sesame seed oil I tasted literally none :/ the chicken katsu that’s fairly good. The seafood bibimbap was not it . Now the fried chicken if you go during lunch it’s fairly good and a decent price and you get fries !! After that just don’t go respectfully . The service is top tier super nice waitstaff and food comes out quickly the atmosphere is cool usually it’s fairly empty

My partner and I ordered Seoul sampler and pork belly buns and the food was really good. My favorite was definitely the bulgogi fries and the street corn. The chicken is very crunchy and full of flavor. I would’ve gave this place a 5/5 if the food was not cold. Still was delicious!

Came in with my team and all of our food is missing sauce . The manager stated he has to charge for sauce and we pointed out on all the wings it’s missing. He snatched the plate and stated do you want to cancel. I asked can you please ask the manager it’s clearly missing sauce. He said I am the manger do you want to cancel and I stated yes. He snatched the plate and walked off . Super excited to eat at my favorite place and just not admitting the meat was not tossed clearly was just wrong and ruined lunch. Everyone has agreed to provide a one star review once we wrap up but I wanted to reach out to corporate.

Google
I know this place is amazing, but they missed the mark with serving cold food! I wonder if they have a heating lamp… I walked passed the kitchen and the door was open and food was just sitting out on the prep table, because I was served cold food, that lead me to believe that they aren’t utilizing their heat lamp or their cook times are off.

Google

Google
Best Korean fried chicken hands down! I will definitely be back!! The Seoul city tea is a great drink to start off with! A little bit pricey, but (for me) it was worth it.

Google
First time trying Bonchon’s and it was GREAT! The fried chicken wings were perfectly fried and the sauces were not overwhelming. 🐥 Our server was attentive, kind, and gave good recommendations. 💯

Google
Someone recommended this place to me. It was my first time, and my wife and I loved it. We ordered a 10-piece drumstick fried chicken with a mix of Korean BBQ flavor and spicy flavor. The drumsticks were def LARGE size drumsticks. My wife and I didn’t expect them to be so big, but considering the cost, we could understand why. The skin was very crispy, but the flavor was definitely the best part of it all. We finished the order of 10 drumsticks between the both of us. But honestly, an order of 10 drumsticks could definitely feed 3 people. We also ordered the seafood rice, which was very flavorful. The rice could’ve had a little more protein, but nonetheless it was still great. The service was a little late on this day and as a courtesy the server gave us a free dessert, which we greatly appreciated. She did apologize and explain that at the same time we ordered there was a large takeout order that came in. We did appreciate the little extra effort in making up for the wait, many restaurants should learn from this. The environment seemed very friendly and spacious. The restaurant was very clean. As far as price is concerned, it is a little pricy. The 10-piece drumstick, which comes with a little side(coleslaw), was $30 by itself. That did NOT include the rice. So, one will have to consider price, this is not your local chicken shack, but you definitely get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend this place to all. This is a must-try fried chicken spot. Never eaten fried chicken like this, but I will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
This meal was the perfect way to unwind on a Friday. I started craving Korean fried chicken after watching an episode of with love Meghan, where she brought in Korean chef Roy Choi and they made Korean fried chicken together in her impeccable kitchen. Bonchon definitely satisfied this craving. The spicy and gochujang flavored wings were perfect and paired perfectly with the fermented radish and Kimchi. I also had indulged with an order of the bulgogi friends and had no regrets. I shared some of my extra wings with my dad and he loved it! Will definitely be ordering again soon!

Yelp
Going from 5 stars to 1 is highly unusual for me, but so is automatically creating a 3rd party account with Olo with my personal information without my consent. I'm pretty sure this is a data privacy violation. On top of that, Bon Chon isn't transparent that an order placed online has a $1 "convenience" fee. Who is it convenient for, me or the store because I can just phone them, have one of their employees tied up taking orders. Seems more convenient for the store. I really hate how restaurants are running things these days.

Yelp
This wasn't my typical after the game spot. But No reservations were needed and we were hungry. We ordered soy garlic thirty piece wings, ten piece spicy wings, seafood fried rice, fried zucchini, popcorn shrimp, lemon drops and French 75. My expectations weren't high but I was blown away with flavors of the food. Saucy wings but still have that crunch!!! I love a good chicken wing. Wait staff was very attentive and we just had a good overall time. (Side note) them spicy wings are hot as hell!!!!!!! lol but good if you can stand the heat.

Yelp
Great spot if you're in the mood for a well balanced chicken "Wing!" I love that you can choose flats, drums or a mix. I'm a drumstick girl and these do not disappoint! A small is 5 wings and that was really enough for 2 meals. I went with the newer spicy sauce which was spicy enough without being overwhelming. I snagged some fries on HH to complete the meal. I paired my fries with spicy mayo which was not wrong! HH - m-f 4-6 with limited options (see pic) with weekday drink specials in addition to the standard hh option. I ubered to that area so not quite sure about the parking sitch. Plenty of inside seating with quite a few tvs at the bar to catch a game (or two)! Service was quite mid -- had a hard time getting them to come back by but I came for the chicken! Overall bonchon has been around the Houston area for a bit with multiple locations. Pick the nearest one and try it out!

Yelp
For starters, the interior was not what I expected for a Korean fried chicken restaurant. Looked just like an American sports bar lol. Not a big deal, just funny. It's much bigger than expected and there's plenty of seating. The service was good. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. She was also working at the cash register doing to go orders. I liked that she checked up on us regularly despite how busy she was. As for the food, it was ok. Not bad but nothing great. The wings had a nice amount of sauce on it. I liked that it wasn't too heavy. The Korean tacos were big and filling. It tasted good with the picked daikon radish. The japchae wasn't bad but barely had any meat.

Yelp
Ordered to-go via 3rd party app; felt like the pricing was fair and I know from prior experiences in person that the portions are generous. Love their Soy Garlic flavor as I am generally a spice wimp - this is a good option. Chicken is always extra crispy and tender.

Yelp
A friend of mine ordered Bonchon for us last night for dinner. I believe we got a combo of wings and drumsticks with a side of the fried rice. The two flavors that we got were spicy and I believe a garlic which were both pretty good but I don't feel like the spicy was spicy at all. I enjoyed the fried rice as well. I honestly think this may have been my first time trying Korean fried chicken and it wasn't a bad experience.

Yelp
Came in for take out on a Saturday evening. Food 4.5/5: ordered the half and half with kbbq and soy garlic. Was amazing, sauce was sticky and sweet with crispy chicken underneath. Bulgolgi fries were also amazing, fair amount of bulgolgi. The teokbokki seems too watery and sauce didnt cling well Service n/a: was take out, friendly enough Ambiance n/a: didn't stay Value 4/5: pretty good value for good quality chicken Overall 4.3/5: would come back for the chicken and maybe the fries.

Yelp
Very friendly service. Our waiter was nice, attentive, and helpful. First time going here and I was nervous because of some reviews I read but it was great and I'd definitely go again! The food was good, very crispy and flavorful fried chicken. The portions are good for the prices too. I only wish they had more sauce flavors for the fried chicken.

Yelp
If you've been to a Bonchon before you kinda know what to expect. This specific location being in midtown was a bit surprising to me, but I'm glad we have another KFC option nearby. I've ordered pick up here before but first time dining in. First things first parking could be a pain here. There's plenty of paid street parking but could be challenging depending on the time of day you come. There is also a garage for this building but not sure if it's paid or not. We walked in coming from a rockets game. We noticed half of the store had seats on the table indicating they're not available. There were a few tables with people in it and three or four dirty tables - felt kinda awkward walking in at first and to be honest we almost walked out. When we sat down our server greeted us a few minutes later - she was polite and friendly which was a reassuring sign. We ordered the 6 pc wing + 3 drum combo half and half. This is basically what we always get with a side of fries and the free radish. The quality and flavor of the chicken was on par with other bonchons. The place also started getting packed as we were there and it was 11 pm - probably normal for being in midtown. Overall, the location is decent. There's definitely some concern for homeless people walking around and in the restaurant (one walked in and quickly walked out while we were eating), but that comes with the area. They could also probably add a few more people to help clean tables, but otherwise not a bad visit.

Yelp
Classic fried chicken with Korean sauces My friends and I shared a large combo of bone in wings and legs with the garlic sauce and Korean BBQ sauce mix, definitely enough for 4 people! Comes with a side of slaw and a tub of ranch Prices weren't too bad for what you get but to be honest it's just fried chicken, I had to stop eating after 3 pieces because it became too greasy but I think if you like eating fried chicken you'd get your moneys worth. Their spicy wings are *definitely* spicy, it builds. I had one from another friends plate and could only handle one, if you love spicy this could be for you. Inside style was your average bar design, service was okay they only had one person working and we had a lot of people so it was understandably slower. I'd come back to try their happy hour but probably wouldn't crave this again anytime soon.

Yelp
Epic. Food Heavenly. Had the pork belly bao buns and wings, so did the guy next to me lol. Sat at the bar for Super Bowl. Great vibe and service.

Yelp
A cool restaurant with a unique menu and fun atmosphere. It's a good place to go with a group of friends (B)

Yelp
Normally a 4 to 5 star experience. Today I felt as though it was not quite the same. 1, service was fine 2, food brought out down a star. While it was crispy, I thought the drumsticks were smaller than normal and definitely not as hot as normal. Hence the knock down. Will I go back, yes, just hope it is better experience. 3, price is on point as well.

Yelp
deliiii and spicy really flavorful and is just perfect. Good employees, they really like to communicate with you and have a good time. overall is a good place to go and enjoy with your family.

Yelp
I've been going to Bonchon for a year or two now, definitely one of the best Korean Fried Chicken spots I've ever been to. But this particular time I went saddened me and made me think they were rushing to cook the food. To start, I always love walking in this place, it has a nice sports bar vibe with a good selection of modern music; although I find it weird they have no relevance to the culture of the cuisine they make....very Americanized, but I'm not Korean so I don't have too much of a say on this. I ordered my food to go, it was a quick and prompt pick up, I had no wait time when I got there and it took me ten minutes to arrive from my job. I got the spicy strips and seasoned fries for the lunch special. Unlike the other times I've had this place at this particular location, the chicken just seemed undercooked, and I specifically mean the breading. Bonchon emphasizes their chicken's crunch texture, which is a big deal to many chicken lovers (such as myself). When your chicken business emphasizes the crunch that your chicken has and customers get no crunch when they bite into the chicken, that kinda defeats the purpose of that form of marketing. The breading was soggy... so damn soggy, I threw the strips in my air fryer when I got home to crisp it up a bit. I've had their regular drums and boneless bites before, this was never an issue until now! The fries were also a bit soggy and this makes me sad because I requested each item to be extra crispy. Outside of the lack of effort put into the breading, the taste of the food is always on point. I do love coming to this place, but they disappointed me with this breading. I think we may need to go back to the drawing board with those strips! All in all, I'd recommend this place for a nice lunch date or maybe even a night out! They have really good frozen drinks too!

Yelp
I'm a fan of Bonchon! We love eating in the comfort of our home, so ordered wings to go. We ordered the Family Meal that comes with 12 wings 6 drums. Holy cow are the drums huge. They remind me of turkey legs at the fair! Definitely recommend getting this, as we had lots of leftovers. Our favorite sauce is soy garlic(5/5). Can't go wrong. We also got an order of fried rice which was surprisingly good. The family meal came with 2 sides so we got fries and coleslaw. The fries came crunchy too, and all the food was hot/ready to eat. Definitely check them out.

Yelp
Crunch, crunch don't stop! This place lives up to its claims for the crunchiest double fried chicken ever! Everything was freshly made to order! Our server Dustin made the best recommendations and provided the best service!!! We tried the spicy sauce. We were too weak to handle it, but the pickled radish helped cut the spice. The bao buns and the fried potstickers were divine! Parking was easy on Sunday. We'll be back to try the fried rice.

Yelp
Owned is so rude.... I was trying to order food and he cussed me out and told me to leave. Ridiculous customer service.....

Yelp
Great crispy chicken and excellent tasty sauce. The chicken is very tinder but the crust is sometimes over cooked.

Yelp
Reaaaallly good ! Kimchi serving was perfect! We got the soju flight, bulgogi fries, and wings 1/2 & 1/2. A great place to hit after a night on midtown

Yelp
Don't go if you don't want to be addicted to their fried rice. I personally do not eat meat so I was intrigued when my friends took me here because I was thinking "what imma eat here" they have a LOT of options if you're vegetarian or pescatarian. Their drinks are amazing! It's always good service here. Trust me when I say this place is VERY ADDICTIVE in a good way. The food comes out within 15 minutes of ordering but I'd recommend ordering to go.
google avatar

Kennedy T.

Yelp
Terrible service! The guy who took my order did NOT ask me if I wanted to dine in or to go. They automatically made my order to go when I wanted to sit and eat. The manager made me get up in the middle of my meal and made me leave. Terribly rude!! Never experienced anything like that. When I asked for a refund he brushed me off when I tried to tell him how rude it was. Terrible establishment!!!!

Yelp
Oh my goodness. Where do I even begin. From the food, to the service, to the location, to the ambiance, everything was more perfect than I could have ever imagined. I am part of FRC Team 7157 and we came to Houston to compete in world championships, and after a long day of robots our team was HUNGRY. Thank GOODNESS Bonchon chicken exists just 8 minutes from the venue. I called in earlier in the day, and placed a reservation for 35 people, and when I got there tables were clean, and I was greeted with some of the kindest people I have ever met. Zully, Natalie, and JT have been the SWEETEST people I have met in Texas and I was in a venue with over 50,000 people. They accommodated to our teams needs, and made the whole ordering process so so easy. Now as for the food, the food was bombtastic and totally tubular. Our team president was ecstatic and thrilled and was first in line for seconds. Not only was the chicken crispy to the perfect amount, but the fries were crispy and delish, and the tteokbokki tasted super authentic. Even the fried rice, one of our members was caught red handed eating out of the bowl. We also had a birthday on the team and they were kind enough to not only provide us with necessary materials, but they helped us coordinate this birthday surprise. Needless to say, our team made some VERY good friends at Bonchon, and have decided to make it a tradition to come here every year we attend champs. THANK YOU BONCHON WE LOVE YOU!

Yelp
Came here on National chicken wings day! Bonchon was having a special 15 chicken wings and a large basket of fries for $25. This was a great deal and easily fed me and my fiancé. Despite it being in midtown, there was plenty of nearby parking in a designated parking lot. The restaurant is large and spacious with plenty of TVs to watch sporting events. We only had to wait a few minutes for them to clean our table but we got sat nearly immediately. Our server was very energetic and helpful. Unfortunately he had a hint of smoke which was off-putting so we didn't have him linger around our table for long to avoid losing our appetite. The hand wipes seemed like typical hand wipes, except for after you use them your hands and fingers smell like an old wet rag. Another very off-putting smell. Definitely recommend washing your hands with soap and water rather than using the hand wipes. The food though was great! Nice crispy crunch to the Korean fried chicken. Plenty of ranch was provided for dipping. Soy garlic was easily our favorite flavor, followed by BBQ and then spicy. The spicy had a very strong kick but was overall bearable and didn't ruin the meal. Fries are not beer battered and are regular fried. Seasoned fries is an extra $2 but worth it imo. Overall good dining experience.

Yelp
The service was great. Both employees were friendly. I went for the wings and the spicy ones had a good flavor, hint of kimchi/fermented taste, which I liked. I do wish they were crispier but they were very good. The fries were amazing and I'm all about judging places based on fries! Overall, I will return. Good lunch menu prices too. About $12 for fries and 8 wings. I want to try their happy hour menu.

Amanda A.

Yelp
One of my friends invited me tonight to Bonchon and we had the best time. Our bartender (Dez) and the manager (Greg) were amazing they let us know about the specials for the night and gave us great recommendations. The mojito is amazing and refreshing and the spicy wings were scrumptious.
google avatar

Grace R.

Yelp
Best fried chicken in the city if not the country (which they did win a national best fried chicken award.) Jamie, the owner, very personable and friendly as well as the staff! Great space to eat and relax or during later hours it can definitely be a party!
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
The sauce on the drumsticks is their spicy Korean sauce and it was pretty spicy. The wings were sauced with their Korean bbq, which was the most delicious. The Korean donut was good, it was churro flavored. It's just bread with cinnamon on it.
google avatar

Miguel T.

Yelp
The food was awesome! Enjoyed the wings and potstickers. Great service all the way around. From the moment we walked in, they took really good care of us. Great ambiance. Lots of TVs so great spot to come and watch your favorite sport.

Yelp
Service is the biggest problem here There is none The food was like a mess Vibe is dead inside the worst bonchon I ve ever been
google avatar

Yelp
Really sad excuse for Korean food. I ordered the bibimbap (rice bowl) and instead of spinach and pickled vegetables, it had a few strands of romaine lettuce and steamed onions and mushrooms. No kimchi, no spinach, even the "fried egg" (paid extra) was one step short of a scrambled egg. No soft yolky center. I got tofu as the protein and it literally looks like they cubed it then microwaved it. No frying, no sear or seasoning. Just plain ass tofu. I should've made this myself or made the drive to Bellaire. This was literally so sad and unsatisfying. Won't be eating here again.

Yelp
As a native Houstonian I've searched for great Korean Fried Chicken near and far. THIS IS IT! The downtown ambiance is a vibe . The music is good the wings are amazing. Them other wing spots just weren't hitting no more. These are Perfectly cooked CRISPY wings tossed in spicy /sweet Korean fusion. Pairs lovely with the Seafood fried rice as well as the full bar. We started with the Craft beer and we're treated to JT the mixologists unique brand of cocktails. Service is A1 . Paula is an attentive and super cool server who made this experience outstanding. Today was our second trip and we will definitely be back! We are 2 new loyal customers. #BONCHON ..... I'LL DIIIIE FOR THIS !

Chris J.

Yelp
The amount of the street corn was ridiculous, and compared to the photo online it was pathetic. Also online it says bottle of sprite and when my order came it was cans. Total false advertising. Street corn was also cold and disgusting. When I called the store they said well take it up with Uber eats and did nothing.
google avatar

Vanessa R.

Yelp
They never disappoint, had the drink called the blue Mother **** and it was good! I always get the bulgolgi rice, potstickers, and wings. Try them out and you won't be disappointed!!! It was so good I went back the next day!

Yelp
BonChon is probably my husband and I's favorite restaurant in the downtown Houston area. Whenever I have to go to Houston for my job, we make sure to head over to this restaurant at least once during the week. The servers we have had have always been very cool, fun to interact with, and informative. I also really like who I think is the owner. The food is amazing. Fried chicken, Bipmibop, Takoyaki, and my personal favorite - the pork katsu. The alcoholic drinks are also fun. We have tried several. My husband really liked the lychee mixed drink. The atmosphere here is bright, poppy, and modern. They are set up to do Karaoke - I'm fairly sure on Tuesday which is fun. We have done in once before with some friends. I really do not understand how this place is not PACKED some nights because it has a lot going for it. Edit: Note that yelp keeps weirdly changing how I have spelled Bip-mi-bop.

Yelp
10/10. Customer service was top tier. We were greeted and seated immediately. Waitress was fine, friendly, and responsive. The restaurant was very clean and wasn't packed. (Saturday about 5ish) I ordered wings (sm. half and half) THE CRUNCH?! OMG. seasoned fries (fried to perfection) house fried rice (plain). Not only was the presentation on point but the flavor and freshness of everything did not disappoint. If you don't like spice get plain or soy garlic. I'm a margarita mami, so I was very pleased that we were able to try samples. When the actual drink came out I wasn't expecting it to be almost as big as my head. (You can take it to go if you don't finish). Forgot all the flavors, my favorites were strawberry + skittle mixed. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Took another trip to Bonchon and my second visit was even better then my first trip thanks to Dustin! Bro was great and welcoming when I first came into the restaurant. This time I got the chicken drumsticks spicy and soy garlic, with some coleslaw, seasoned fries and onions rings. Food was amazing and hot. I could literally never get tired of this place !!! Again parking is tough because it is midtown and again they do keep it pretty cold in there so dress accordingly! They definitely get 5 stars from me I will be back soon

Stacy D.

Yelp
So went in here tonight at the 10pm after work. They close at 10:30. Sat at bar was told I could order drinks and sit and drinks but the food would be to go but we could still eat at the bar. Great everything was great including the bartenders. Who was NOT great of the Asian guy, maybe the owner, who from the minute we walked in was rude and didn't want to serve us. Yes we came in 30 mins before closing but there were plenty people sitting at tables and the bar. We sat at the bar ordered our drinks and and food. They both came at the same time so we decided to drink and much on our order. About 30 mins in the Asian guy told us we had to leave cause they are mopping, while he was still pouring drinks for others. I said that was rude of him seeing that we are also in the industry and I said I would write and review and he said "you leave now" very rude!

Yelp
** I am American and have limited experience with Korean food. Sharing from my perspective but still learning :) SO GOOD! Bonchon is consistently the best Korean fried chicken I've ever had. So crunchy and delicious flavor. The menu is tailored more towards street food and is Americanized, but if you're new to Korean cuisine, this is the a great first step, I had tteokbokki with my meal and it is Korean rice cakes and fish cakes with onions, scallions, gochujang (chili paste) and topped with mozzarella? The rice cakes have a soft chewy texture that I loveeeeee and the fish cakes (not made from fish I don't think?? Not sure though) are long thing almost like a think cakey noodle. The dish is pretty spicy but again, delicious. The staff is nice and the perk of the midtown location is that it's nice to hand out! They have happy hour, a full bar, and bottle service! Check it out!

Yelp
Fried rice is super good! Wing sauce is amazing and bartender was attentive and affirmative! GM was great even came to say hello and was running food! Thank you Greg!

Yelp
Came in for dinner/Astros game watching on Sat, Oct 7. Been here several times b4 & didn't let the negative reviews sway me. We had the best service with Dustin. I mean exceptional! Now to the food. We had both wings & drums mixed with soy garlic & spicy. Both were juicy & delicious! We also had the bulgogi fried rice, which was also delicious. The pickled radish is also very good. I just thought the kimchi was ok. Drinks were good & it's a great place to watch sports. Will def be back again & more often.

Yelp
Great Midtown Location! Love the ambiance and the food is delish I ordered the Half and Half combo with a side of white rice and kimchi. The flavors are just superb and outstanding. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Tamica D.

Yelp
I tried this place today and the wings are good but the drums weren't seasoned very well. I got the spicy and the soy garlic flavor. Both were good. On the drumsticks the flavor was only on the skin of the chicken but no flavor on the inside. The chicken definitely has a great crunch. I would like to come back and try some of the other options.

Yelp
The food is Delicious and the only saving grace! Came here to celebrate my parters birthday, and it ended up being a hot mess. Service was TERRIBLE! Our server spent more time standing at the counter than actually helping us! We ordered the Bulgogi Sliders, but the dish that came ended up being the spicy chicken - which was too spicy so we couldn't eat it. At the end of the meal when the server finally came around and we notified her, she said she would swap them out and we can take them to go. Didn't even offer to comp then or provide a discount. Our Fried rice came almost 15 minutes after the rest of the food, and our sodas were not even refilled one time.

Yelp
It was really good, the chicken was great and Crispy, and the staff was really friendly. They even gave a you a dessert cause it was our first time. Overall, 10/10.

Yelp
Great place to get your Korean chicken itch scratched. The service was from Joseph and Lorraine were top notch. They were quick to greet and friendly when I took my time ordering for my family. I've eaten at Bonchon in Busan, South Korea and this place gives me the same vibe. We ordered the pork buns, tacos, sliders and chicken wings. Everything tastes great. Tacos were the only mid item.

Yelp
Disappointed in the Bulgogi fries because there was hardly any Bulgogi at all. It was like 6 little pieces other places normally have them all over the fries. It was our first time here, what a shame!
