Bonne Sante Health Foods - Review - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Our immune systems can use all the help they can get, and that’s where Bonne Sante comes in. This Hyde Park market has stuff like seamoss, turmeric, aloe vera, and echinacea, plus a helpful staff. They also have tasty prepared foods like paninis, salads, and fresh-pressed juice. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Where to Celebrate Dry January 2022 in Chicago - Eater Chicago

"A Hyde Park staple for more than 45 years, Bonne Sante is just as well-known for its juice bar as it is for its selection of groceries. Choose from fruit and vegetable juices, kombucha on tap, or a full menu of shakes, which include supplements to help cure all that ails you." - Ashok Selvam, aimee.levitt

Nice atmosphere & friendly staff. The smoothie I ordered was delicious also. 24 ounces of pure goodness! I also tried their vegan tacos🌱 🌮. I couldn’t tell I wasn’t eating meat. Try the pitaya also known as dragonfruit smoothie with vitamin c boost added

I’m so sad this place is closed 😞 Just moved to Chicago and instantly fell in love with the variety of herbs and natural supplements this store had. They also had a great selection of fresh made smoothies. The owner retired tho so good for them… Hope I can find a place close by that’s as good.

Very nice and clean store. The food and juices are cooked and made fresh. I enjoy coming here for many of my health needs.

I love that we have a spot for wellness and health. I wish they had more people at the juice bar though. It takes too long to make a juice or smoothie so don’t go when you are in a rush. They always put a “taking a break” sign up and it’s because they easily get behind and they need more workers. I also think it’s muchhhhh better if you give folks a sample while they are waiting vs. when it’s time to give them their item. Overall, glad it’s there but they just need a better system so people actually wanna go back.

Love love this place. I get all my juices, herbs & vegan items from here. They have different flavored seamoss which sells fast. My toddler loves the strawberry flavored one. You can earn points for freebies which is also a bonus. The staff is very knowledgeable & helpful. One of the best health food stores in Hyde park.

I usually read reviews but I didn’t before coming here & I regret it. The only reason I didn’t give 1 star is because I never actually got to try anything on the menu so I can’t rate the food. Anyway, NEVER ORDER ONLINE! I placed an order on Grubhub for a Vegout smoothie, vegan chili & vegan tacos. The estimated time said 15 mins. After 10 minutes I started walking down to the store. When I entered there were about 4 people in line and the guy behind the counter was handing out samples. Nobody said anything to me as I stood right in their faces waiting patiently. There was another girl training a guy behind the counter. She left from behind the counter and sat to talk with a guy on the floor. After about 10 minutes, the one guy who was slowly making smoothies finally acknowledged me & I said I had placed an online order. He asked if it was Grubhub then told me to come down to the front of the line. He then proceeded to make drinks for the other customers that were already there, which is cool. But why would you tell me to come to the front? Then I waited another 5 mins before asking the girl who was chatting on the floor about my order. She then told me they don’t sell the food. So not only is my smoothie not even close to being prepared, THEY DONT EVEN SELL THE FOOD ADVERTISED. Customer service is terrible & they seem to have all the issues that comes with running a small business. Lack of oversight, not enough employees, lazy business practices. It’s been almost two hours and they keep telling me they’ll cancel and refund me but still have yet to do so.

They always taking a break I go on lunch everyday at 12 and I never can get anything from the Juice or hot food section. He was so rude he couldn’t even look me my face as he told me couldn’t make my food.

Google
Reasons for the negative review all come down to the smoothie bar: Today, I ordered a small smoothie, as indicated by the invoice I was given (16oz, $8.49), which I gave to the cashier showing that I had been clear and this was a mistake they made. They wouldn't budge at all on making me pay for a large, despite that having been their mistake (or pouring out the size difference into the smaller size cup), and proceeded to scribble out and write over the invoice (as you can see). I ended up just paying for it because of there being a long line, but this is obviously poor customer service both in terms of not admitting and owning up to their mistake, but also the attitude with which they approached me during the situation. This was already after having to get my fourth option. They had been great about proactively listing out what ingredients they were out of, but proceeded to either tell me they could make smoothies I'd tried to order due to them not realizing they had those ingredients until starting and they later turned out to be out of other ingredients they hadn't listed for the 3rd or 4th option down I picked. Further, every time that I've ordered ahead online, they haven't actually started making it until I was there, which defeats the point. That being said, there are definitely a lot of positives about the store: it's a small, local business. They have a good selection of health foods and more specialized products, and most cashiers have been friendly.

Yelp
They didn't have what I wanted but told me they would call me when it restocked. Just really friendly good service!!

Yelp
I'm glad there's a store like this on 53rd street with all kinds of elixirs and a smoothie bar. But today is my last day trying to go in for a smoothie because it *always* takes at least 30 minutes to make, regardless of how many people are in line. The service is extremely nonchalant, almost performed in slow motion, like you have all the time in the world--which is fine. I aspire to that rhythm, but I'm usually on a lunch break. Too bad.

Yelp
If you'd asked me three months ago for a review it would be five stars. The staff is kind and helpful, the vibes are high, the other customers are all sweet people who want to support local businesses and health food stores. Bonne Sante is unique and has survived the rapid changes to the retail landscape in Hyde Park. I love the retail portion of the store, but closing the grill eliminated the only sandwich spot in Downtown Hyde Park. Yes it took a while for the food to come out, but the food was so tasty, and there really was nothing like it nearby. When I mentioned my disappointment in the grill closing, the gentleman at the counter said "Yeah we've had to fight back against customers on that." Chief 1. don't say you're fighting back against your customers, and 2. if a bunch of customers are pushing for the grill, you should report it to ownership, not just tell people tough tuchus. No worries, I said, we have CJ's Best wraps, awesome quick vegan options to grab and go back to my office - I personally like the Philly Cheese Steak and Buffalo Chik'n. But I've gone in at least once a week for the last month and there's only been one variety of wraps that are, IMO, the worst of the various options. Today there were zero wraps available of any sort - so my lunch needs are likely going to end up served by national chains, which I hate. I'm not sure how much money the grill was losing, but there are absolutely models out there about how to make your operation more efficient. Tighten the menu up. Do different offerings on different days. Overlap some product (offer a kale salad that ends up on a sandwich, for example). Cook some product ahead of time that then needs 60 seconds on a panini press instead of 5 minutes. It feels like Bonne Sante should be looking at City of Chicago and Cook County small business loans and guidance. There's plenty of money and expertise out there to help iron out any kinks in the operation. The loss of the grill is a huge loss for DT HP and I hope is not a sign of things to come for the wider store. Bonne Sante reminds me of the co-ops and health food stores I had access to as a kid in Northern California, and I was hoping my kids could have the same experiences I did. Please bring back the grill!

Yelp
As much as I try to support this store, I keep leaving empty handed. I've been twice recently and each time, it takes over 30 minutes to receive your order. The last time, I just let them keep the money. Today, she willing told me it would be 30 minutes for the smoothie. So unfortunate.

Yelp
Great food, service, and ambiance! No complaints here. Came here on the suggestion of a friend and it's been great. ;)

Katie M.

Yelp
The staff here are always friendly and helpful. The smoothies are tasty - expect to wait a little while if you come during lunch rush. The coolers sometimes leak and leave water on the ground. The staff are great to direct people around the water, but it seems like the coolers should be in better repair.

Yelp
This is one of the worst health food stores I've ever been too. It's the only real option in Hyde Park but there are much better options in the suburbs such as Sunrise Health Food Stores( 3 locations all with great customer service) The customer service at Bonne Sante is terrible. A lot of the older female workers are extremely rude and not knowledgeable about the products. They're often out of stock of many items, always priced higher than other stores, both in and outside of city limits (herbs, tinctures, and packaged good alike), and on multiple occasions they've been closed 15 minutes or more before their stated closing time and always due to a mysterious "emergency" or being short staffed, etc. If you like spending your hard earned money for over priced products, bad service and even worse excuses for their bad service Bonne Sante is the place for you.

Yelp
This place is going down down down. I love this place and want to support but I hate this place bc the service is HORRIBLE and it seems to just be getting worst every year. Products are great but they never have enough staff and it affects business. One of the busiest and probably most profitable part of your business, the juice bar is always understaffed. I went to get a smoothie not even an hour after they had open. When I went to order the 1 person working (which is ridiculous on a Friday) says to me it will be about 20 mins or more because he had about 12 before me. As you are seeing that you are backed up why not stop and let the customer know he is working solo and needs to catch up and not take anymore orders but I digress. No problem I need to run to the bank and LuLu and pick something up. I go get in line (long AF) and the young lady finally opens another line which I am able to go to and pay for my smoothie and a few other items. For later reference the card device had a glitch but she told me it was ok. So I run my two errands come back and everyone who was waiting and or before has left and I see all new faces none of which were there before I left. I asked about my order and the lady who checks me out says nothing and the gentleman working finally after about 1 min. says oh yeah I have to make another one bc someone drank yours. Wait whet! So how long ago was this? Why wasnt it made right after someone "drank it" why am I now being another set of 8-10 ppl. I want a refund. The lady who checked me out who is now behind the juice bar comes out and then begins to take another guest knowing that I am now upset and needing a refund. I asked her again. she takes me at the same register that I checked out at. She proceeds to make me fill out a refund card and then goes to give me cash. I didnt pay with cash though and she never asked me if I wanted cash. Soo I ask her about it, she proceeds to tell me that something is wrong with the card reader, the same reader that she told me earlier was ok when I checked out and asked her about it then, Uhm maam make it make sense please. So I asked if she was the manager she said yes, I proceeded to tell her that the way she handled that was unacceptable bc she never asked me how I wanted my refund and I paid with my card. I dont know if I will support this location anymore. It's like it just keeps getting worse and worse. Hire some good stuff and staff that can support your business. DO BETTER!

Nikesha M.

Yelp
According to the sign on the door, this place opens at 9:30 am on weekdays. It is currently 10:01 am on a Friday and the store is still closed.

Yelp
I wanted to ignore the previous reviews but Yelp never fails. After living on the west coast, I have experienced exceptional predesigned health food juices. Unfortunately I was not affored this opportunity at Bonne Sante. The male juicer was not helpful in selecting a juice and as a result he never made my juice. After an extended time, I watched three other customers come and go with their drinks. When I inquired about my order, the lovely female associate spoke to the male juicer and stated he will now make my drink. Hmmm...no apology equals poor customer service. Bonne Sante, as a Hyde Park staple, please revisit your company's mission and vision statement. From where I can see, you may be replaced, like Mellow Yellow.

Yelp
Every time I come here, I remember why I avoid this place - the service is SOOO INCREDIBLY SLOW AND RUDE!!! The workers are unapologetically rude and act as though they are doing customers a favor. They've been at this location forever, so I guess poor service is working for them.

Yelp
Great health food store in Hyde Park. The people are very knowledgeable and polite.Bonne Sante is like a candy store so many items to choose from. The smoothies and food is great that they serve. My favorite health food store.

Yelp
The eatery in here is the ghetto. Rude workers, they take forever to prepare your meal. Don't be a first time customer they will just leave you on your own to figure out how their business operates. I'm new to Chicago and I'm trying to patron small black businesses here but it is such a difficult task given how no one seems to care about happiness or customer service. The actual health food store side is nice and those cashiers are very pleasant.

Yelp
Not customer oriented at all. Have a sick wife just finished with surgery and can only have smoothies. Perfect place for a nice healthy smoothie, nice and easy; right? Nope. First, come in and the line is a few people deep. Not a problem. Well, except that it isn't moving. The woman in front of me finally says you can have my spot, my lunch is over. I wait. Finally, a young man asks me what am I having. Tuna panini and... Young lady, were out of tuna. Silence

Yelp
Love this place: I'm shocked at the comments about customer service bc I swear everybody in there is nice asl every time.

Yelp
Smoothies are delicious- perfect for feeling full but not heavy on a hot summer day. There is also a great selection of healthy snacks and supplements.

Yelp
I've lived by this place for years and never thought to order food, but I'm so glad I finally did because I think it's now one of my favorite places in the area. I got an avocado panini with a smoothie. I'm so used to Hyde Park restaurants being expensive and low quality, that I didn't think the panini would be that good for ~$9, but it was really good and fresh and the sandwich was huge. I also got it with vegan cheese. The smoothie was also very good, and I got it with almond milk. I'm so glad they offer different food alts including vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free choices. The ONLY reason I give it 4 stars is because of the service. When I went, it was my first time there and it isn't clear where to pay/order so I had to keep asking what to do, which visibly annoyed the person at the counter. She also got my order wrong (which was fine bc it was good anyway) but I knew that would happen since I felt like she wasn't really listening to me in the first place or even looked at me while I ordered. FYI, you order at the food bar, and pay at the store counter. Student discounts do not apply for it.

Yelp
Went to BS yesterday afternoon for a late lunch sandwich pickup with my friend from out of town. We walk to the sandwich counter and no one was there to take our order, so we waited. After about 5 minutes, a woman came behind the counter but apparently, she was not the person who was supposed to make our sandwiches. She calls another woman who then proceeded to take my order. I tell her I wanted two of the BBQ jackfruit sandwiches with avocado. She then asks me what the the price of the sandwich? I told her 7.49 based on what the sign said. (I assume the second woman was new at her position) She hands me my ticket and I go to pay for the sandwiches. When I come back, with had to have been 3-5 minutes later, I come back to find that the second woman hadn't even started making my sandwiches. The first woman had returned, and was explaining EVERY STEP of making the sandwiches. And each step probably required a 1 or 2 minutes explanation. Everything from where to find the buns, to how long to heat the jackfruit, to where the pickles are. I'd also like to add that while everyone behind the counter meticulously washed their hands, no one wore any gloves, which is ironic given that the NAME OF THE PLACE IS "GOOD HEALTH" IN FRENCH. By that time, a tall thin gentleman had also come behind the sandwich counter and asked my friend and me if we had ordered. I told him that we had in fact ordered "a while ago" and we still waiting. The tall man then tersely told me and my friend to "BE PATIENT" and to wait over in the waiting area and that we would be called when our sandwiches were ready. I'd also like to know that the first and second were loudly arguing/debating over whether an extra charge should be applied for adding avocado to the sandwich, which I think further distracted the second woman from the ultimate goal of completing my sandwiches. 10 minutes after that interaction, and probably 20 minutes after initially walking into the restaurant, the second woman hands me my two sandwiches with NO APOLOGY for the ridiculously long waiting time. The sandwiches weren't too bad. There was avocado on only one of the sandwiches. Slow, rude customer service is an absolute deal breaker for me. It's especially disappointing to me as an African-American to be given this treatment by my own people. I should have followed my first mind and gotten a veggie omelet from Valois next door.

Yelp
A hippie's dream come true! This store has all of your natural health and organic needs. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I had to hurry myself out of there before I spent all of my coins-so many good finds and options. I went for peppermint tea, of which they offer several options. I also grabbed a bottle of B12, of which they offered at least five different options, including vegan and gluten free versions. Two thumbs up.

Sandra D.

Yelp
Horrible customer service!!! The owner of this store needs to fire his current employees and hire new ones who have been trained properly!!!

Allie J.

Yelp
The store had everything you could think of. Incense, smoothies, tacos, and more. I appreciate the community feel and also how credible the source and services are. I'll be back and can't believe I wasn't supporting this place before.

Yelp
I usually come here to get a sandwich and a smoothie during lunch break but today I came more so toward the early evening. I ordered my usual and noticed something very disturbing. There was a tall black guy (He's like 6'4-6'6) behind the counter. The guy was cleaning the counter, touching a mop/broom etc. When I ordered my food, he just went to start making it AND PUT HIS FINGERS IN THE GUACAMOLE!!! YES you read that right. I guess the spoon fell inside of the guac so instead of putting on some gloves at that point... he instead dug his fingers in it. W... T.... F.... A 10000% basic food safety violation. I was like is he really going to put his dirty hands in the food like that????? Then he went and started touching the condiments etc with his bare, nasty hands. This is basic food safety 101 and will not be eating there ever again after witnessing this. I suggest you do not either. I had paid for my meal already so just threw it in the trash on the way out. What is going on these days with these establishments who seem to have just have given up?

Katherine S.

Yelp
Today I went in and got a green smoothie. I told him very low sugar we agreed on strawberries. I'm fine with that, he slipped up and said bananas and then took it back that there was no bananas in my smoothie. I'm on the keto diet and he completely kicked me out of ketosis. I think he should be fired, when someone says that they have a health problem and they lie about the sugar they put into your smoothies, it can be detrimental to someone's health. I paid 10$ to be lied too!
google avatar

Victoria J.

Yelp
Poor customer service at the cooking station. Went there at noon to order lunch. They said 15 minutes then 20 minutes later he said they didn't start on it because they were flooded with Grubhub orders. I told him he should've been more accurate with how long the wait is and got my money back! They only had one cook and totally unprepared and visibly bothered anytime a new order came in. Why offer the food delivery if they can't accommodate it properly. It's always too long of a wait for smoothies and food which is why I rarely go there. Hire more employees!
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
Horrible Horrible Horrible!! They serve people that they know first, even if they came in and placed a. Order for a shake or food 10/15 minutes after you. They have horrible attitudes as if we forced them to work there. They complain about people questioning about their orders after waiting 30 minutes plus. They burn food, mamma horrible shakes and act as if they are doing is a favor. Then the owner or manger walks around and doesn't acknowledge anything. Their place is horrible and the lack of customer service is something that needs to be addressed. I think this place needs to be shut down or the entire staff needs to be replaced.

Yelp
BUY LOCAL!I! Nestled in the heart of downtown Hyde Park, you'll find this pleasant locale that goes by the name Bonne Sante Health Foods. This place runs the gamut for all things healthy and natural; from herbs and spices; snacks; cooking products; nuts; fresh hot paninis and a juice bar! When the weather permits, there is even patio seating to people watch and enjoy this energetic neighborhood. Apart from food items, this is an amazing nutrition shop and they have a huge variety of supplements, homeopathic remedies, probiotics, non-GMO personal care products, earth-friendly household cleaning products and essential oils. The lure for me was their juice bar. My favorite so far is the #4 - carrot, apple, lemon and ginger. Perfect type of refreshment, full of vitality with the right amount of cool with a subtle kick from the ginger. Please, please do spend a few minutes perusing the aisles, you are sure to find alternatives to your norm or something you didn't know you needed. What a joy that the staff here is so knowledgeable. The Owner/Manager went the extra mile to help me and the store is very clean. I even ran across a few juices that expired (not by much mind you) and they gave them to me for "the free". Bonne Sante has those hard to find items too. It appears that their prices are right in line with any other health & organic food spot. I'm all about supporting a local business - proceed and continue to shop as usual but add Bonne Sante in your rotation. #SupportLocal

Yelp
Rude. The juice bar staff are terrible. The men that work back there just do not want to work. If I tell you that I want fresh juice don't try to steer me to bottled, premade juice. And why was ginger or pepper added to my drink when I didn't ask for it. I guess it's a good thing I wasn't allergic. This is a good opportunity for a customer focused, savvy business person to open a juice/smoothie/salad bar that appreciates its customers in hyde park. It's a much needed business since we are stuck with the likes of bonne sante for fresh juice. I for one, will be using my juicer at home and preparing my own until a suitable business opens in the area.

Yelp
I have a love-hate relationship with Bonne Sante. Why? Because their smoothies are SOOO good and the man who usually makes them is very friendly, but they are so slow and the people behind the counter (where you pay) are often rude to me. 1) I absolutely adore the PB&J smoothie. It's on the secret menu, but they'll know what it is. Very simple - just banana, mixed berries, peanut butter, apple juice, and honey. I usually get mine with no honey and substitute the juice for almond milk. It's delicious. I've tried making it myself, but it's not nearly as good. 2) I've also tried their omegacado smoothie (avocado and cinnamon). It was pretty good and very original, but not as good as the PB&J. The "Smooth Move" shake is also delicious and I love the "Veg Out". 3) Don't get the acai bowls here. They're far too watery, and they don't add many topics. Get a smoothie instead - you won't regret it. 4) The staff here is very friendly but works quite slowly. There's often a long line, but even if it's empty, it still takes at least 15 minutes to get your smoothie. When the line is long, it can take 45. Keep this in mind, but don't let it deter you because their smoothies are quite good. I love Bonne Sante and will definitely be back!! In the meantime, I'll keep testing my PB&J smoothie recipe to see if I can get it as good as Bonne Sante's.

Yelp
Love this store! I have to go here for their branded cbd cream and send it to my grandma because it's the only cream I've gotten her that actually relieved her pain from her arthritis. Everyone is friendly. I always make sure to get a wheat grass shot when I'm there

Yelp
I was staying at a hotel in the Hyde Park and wanted to explore the neighborhood. I really found a gem when I wandered in! I was first approached by Chatto, who's the manufacturer of Nature's natural. I have very curly hair which was dry and she gave me 3 samples! She recommended 6+ Growth Creme to help grow hair on the thinning area of my scalp as well as a Moisture Mist for curly hair. Being a hairstylist, she had positive, constructive advice for me, which I really appreciated. I can't wait to try this out on my scalp and see my luscious curls rejuvenated! Next, I ran into Barookah at the juice bar. Not only did I get a crunchy, creamy, sweet and salty spinach avocado panini, but she also equipped me with a healing Elixir for my husband who is recovering his health. I am so thankful! I picked up a Vegan Key Lime Pie in the Cold Case and was amazed at how delicious, sweet and creamy it tasted. Wow! Her flavor profiles are spot-on and I can't wait for her cookbook to come out! If you're looking for food that both vegans and omnivores will enjoy, look no further. She does catering, too, under 'Vegan's Best.' I met Tina at the cash register when I was checking out. I asked for dinner recommendations, and she graciously offered some intriguing suggestions. I told her I enjoyed shopping at thrift stores so she suggested one I can't wait to check it out! The store is obviously a huge positive addition to Hyde Park and I would recommend it to anyone who's interested in living a long, healthy life with nourishing food and beauty products.

Yelp
Terrible service, terrible management, extremely slow service, rude staff. Not sure why the employees are so pretentious and not sure why they're attitudes are so bad, but I will not be back.

Yelp
It's an amazing store that offers a variety of things to find for a healthy life style but the staff is up tight and not friendly?! Oooh sure they want you to spend your money and patronize them but they could use a little more kindness especially Vermona.... the cashier she had me on hold for 10 minutes wen I tried to speak to the owner about writing an article for my magazine she hurt me deeply the only reason that I have to come in there is for health reason and most importantly they accept link.... shame on that cashier for hurting me feelings.

Yelp
Placed an order on Grubhub at 1:30 for a banana smoothie. I showed up at Bonne Sante at around 2:10 and my smoothie wasn't made. I inquired once and they told me that they'd make it and to wait in the waiting area. I inquired again about 10 minutes later and they had still not gotten to it. At this point, someone who came into the store while I was waiting placed an order and was delivered her food. I inquired a third time asking how many more orders were in front of mine at which point some tall guy who wasn't helping any of the workers told me, "they got tickets, you'll get your smoothie." When I asked how long I should be expected to wait for a banana smoothie, I was told that I had an attitude. I left, it wasn't worth it. These guys are so unorganized and slow.

Start with the downside - it's a bit slow Now that that's over the smoothies are delicious! You can mix and match and add or subtract from their concoction or make your own. Veggies are fresh and fruits are good. Everyone's friendly or a bit shy. Grab n go snacks are myriad and mostly healthy. I'll be back!

Yelp
After being told that he would not make me a vegetable drink during their operating hours. The 6 foot 7 Juice Bar attendant told me to buy one pre-bottled. I have a stomach condition that disallows me to eat/drink the citrus drinks they had on display. I have ulcers and can only drink pure vegetable. I was actually shocked at this. I've been buying from this juice bar over 15 years and I've always received the best of service. But this new, tall guy standing about 6' 7" refused to take my order. I told the management the next day and I figured things would be different. On Day #2 I returned to the juice bar to see the same unprofessional with unwelcoming energy at the bar. I began to place my order in detail and he completely interrupted me, stating he knows what goes in the drink. Upon serving me, I noticed that the drink was brown when it's normally red when adding beets. I sipped from the cup and immediately my stomach began to burn cause he added ginger. An ingredient that aggravates my stomach condition. I told him I didn't ask for a ginger flavored drink. He argued that none was in there and began to conspire with his co-worker (a dark-skinned woman with faux Locs) both backing each other on this foul play which was quite disturbing. He then, tosses the drink angrily ( as if I was supposed to be intimidated ) and continued his street rhetoric while preparing another drink with the ingredients I requested. As I walked away they both continued to rant. Which in my opinion has never been the energy at Bonne Sante. I've spent thousands in this establishment since 2005. Hair products, vitamins, herbs, health supplements and I've never been subjected to such folly. Through my observation the Juice Bar and Panini stand is the absolute worst representation of Black Business in Hyde Park. They act as if they don't want to be there. Which they should stay at home and not impose negative energy on contributors like myself and other customers that helped build that establishment. My stomach is aggravated as we speak from consuming a supplement in my first drink I didn't as for. I'm beyond disappointed and UPSET.

Yelp
i really love bonne sante foods!!! their smoothies are sososososso good (especially the apple pie one with dates/almonds/apples---feels like a whole treat) and their acai bowls are HUGE and come with hella toppings and are super reasonable for the price/chicago!! and are more than enough to split with a friend. they also have a huge assortment of organic/ health food stuff which is a little pricier, but too be expected for a small business that's trying to survive!! i haven't really bought much of their groceries since i lived right next to trader joes/ hpp is another level, but bonne sante did become my go to pick up fruitfull bars (for 1.50!!!) on my walk to the point!! they also at one point sold tofutti ice cream sandwiches by the piece for like 50 cents and they were the perfect sweet treats to make a sunny afternoon in chicago feel that much more special.

Yelp
Love their smoothie bar and selection of products, especially the tea section - so many options. Their kombucha is also fantastic.

Yelp
While I was a consistent customer of this place, about 2 months ago I witnessed the manager (who refused to provide his name) speak in a very ill and disrespectful manner to a Black women working at the smoothie station. It was so distasteful and the young lady shared with me that they have such high turnover because that's how they treat/speak to the Black women who work there. Really sad and upsetting thing to witness.

Yelp
Good food/smoothies but unreliable service. I've been to this place several times because it's the only decent smoothie bar in Hyde Park but they have extremely weird hours and rarely open on time. Really wish Hyde Park would get another smoothie shop

Yelp
Visited this location after my bike workout. Looked over the extensive menu, and finally settled for a smoothie. I wasn't greeted... the guy behind the counter barely looked interested in my order, and I sat and waited at least 10 minutes for a 16oz smoothie. Extremely disappointed, and i'll probably never come back.

Yelp
I am happy to say they have improved their store a lot since my last review. The addition of the cafe space is really nice for a quick tea or bite. Employees were friendlier too!

Yelp
Service is inconsistent. It takes a long time for them to prepare smoothies... I don't bother if I'm short on time. Also too much talking with customers when there is a line.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to the store to find some vitamins yesterday. We were in there for about 10 minutes, while looking for the vitamins, the associate comes over and says 'You can't be behind here because we have registers so just let us know if you need something'.. She said it rudely! As customers, we don't have control on where your registers are placed while trying to read the vitamins. The associate was rude and cared more about why the Wi-Fi wasn't working (because she wanted to get on Instagram, I overheard her talking) then providing good customer service. I do reside in the area so I'll take my money elsewhere.

Yelp
I usually love bonne sante's smoothies but they do not follow CDC guidelines whatsoever! Out of the 5 people working, only one or two wear their masks properly. Out of the other three to four, the cashier wears her nose out of her mask, another cashier removed her mask to sneeze into the air, the smoothie bar guy (older one) wears his mask as a chin strap, and the lady who prepares the food also wears her nose out of her mask. VERY DISAPPOINTING. I've also witnessed them letting people into the store with no mask at all! The older man that made my smoothie did not make it right, it was watery and didn't have enough fruit. He also talked over my lidless smoothie with no mask! Disgusting!

Yelp
Every time I come here everyone has been very patient and knowledgeable with any sort of questions I have. I love getting the same shake here. Always pleased and happy it's a part of hyde park.

Yelp
MAN! Such a dilemma... I would really love to give them a higher score but I have to mirror some of the other comments that I see for this company and say that the customer service was horrible... THE JUICE BAR AND GUY MAKING MY JUICE WAS AMAZING!!! There were a lot of people there and he was really busy but kept a really positive energetic this position which I appreciate it :) HOWEVER, The process is a bit cumbersome (you have to place your order at the juice bar and then pay for it on the other side of the store and bring the receipt back to get your drink). There are actually two front desk... And because this was my first time in the store I was not aware that there was one a little bit behind the shelves that you can't see from the front. I stood at the front desk for five minutes and the lady at the other desk could see me but I could not see her. Finally another customer told me I should come around the corner. The lady behind the desk VERY RUDELY asked me why I was standing at the wrong desk and that it was my fault I wasted my time...

Yelp
Bonne Sante is typically go to for me to buy my oils and other body care products, sadly they are overpriced and the customer service I received when doing a return yesterday was not great. The cashier or manager? who processed my return was rude and I will not be back for a long while, if ever.

Yelp
Has a variety of products. Staff are knowledgable and willing to assist you on your health journey. Haven't eaten from the hot bar yet, but I've enjoyed several smoothies and they were all delish!!
