I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Boonville Hotel. The main building itself was warm and charming. We stayed in the Front Room, an out building. Quite comfortable and cozy! Our meal at the restaurant was first class, any foody would appreciate it. Best of all was the staff. Always helpful, always professional and always friendly. A tip of the hat to all. Finally, thank you to Marcus and staff. We had a medical emergency while we were there and it was handled with compassion and understand. We are grateful and hope to return soon. |If you are looking for a great getaway for rest and relaxation in a pampering atmosphere, this is your spot.

I am excited to stay here soon but agree with the others: it is very hard to see in many cases what the rooms look like. It would also be great if we could click on a “pet friendly” box thus saving us much time in trying to discern which rooms allow pets. Thanks!

It does not there’s no place for the end. It was amazing experience. Yes it is. That is to enjoy Pharm and I would say you’re right quality Service, this is your spot. Just minutes away from an abundance Vineyards impressive. We also stopped at a time when Mendocino County fair was going on which is a can’t miss.

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. I stayed in the Front Porch, a charming little one bedroom off the courtyard. It even had a little screened porch. My family stayed in the main hotel. Each morning there is a self- serve buffet with hot, fresh homemade scones or something similar; granola, yogurt, juice and coffee or tea. Delicious! We had dinner outside on the deck with about 18 people from the wedding party we were attending at nearby Whispertree. The dinner was a 5 star from start to finish. Gourmet in every regard. I can definitely recommend the Booneville Hotel!

Great place to stay. People who work here are really nice. Plus the cat, Robin, keeps an eye on things and with great dignity greets the guests.

I've stayed at the hotel 3 or 4 times and it never disappoints. This time was in Cottage B, very nice, but the bathroom is absolutely hazardous with two major steps down that really need to be more forewarned. I fell when trying to navigate it at night, lucky I wasn't hurt more.|The property is amazing, the staff is superb, the town is quaint and fun.|Perry is a great cook. We didn't much like the poached chicken but I've enjoyed his cooking in the past and will return. His trout appetizer was superb. The oysters with tomato sauce tried too hard, please simpify!|Breakfast is kind of a letdown, and starts way too late as does coffee, but luckily there are places in town with coffee earlier.

On our periodic drive out to the coast today from our Cloverdale home on route 128, we just happened to stop at the Boonville Hotel in search of a cup of coffee. We've driven this route many, many times but never really noticed this low-key place. Wow, were we in for a pleasant surprise! It was late Sunday afternoon, yet the place was filled with positive energy and happy customers of all ages and stripes. "Terri" is the owner, a warm and gregarious lady. She treated us like family and, behind the bar, friendly mixologist "V" passionately created specialty coffee drinks that were out of this world. We had eaten elsewhere just an hour earlier so we didn't order a meal, but we engaged with friendly patrons sitting nearby who were all smiles about their dining experience. The facility is clean and decorated beautiful, including the all-important restrooms. The owners know what they are doing. We will be back for sure, and maybe for an overnight getaway at this hotel in this cute little town!

Didn't stay at the hotel but stopped in for dinner with a group. Food was fantastic. Even the most critical diners that we were with spoke highly of everything. The price is very reasonable and we all left full and happy. I could eat my body weight in the gnocchi that was served (everyone let out a collective "yum" at first bite). It may have been the best bite of food that I've had in years. Outdoor space was beautiful but a little chilly on a breezy night. Blankets are available to help keep warm but patio heaters would be ideal. Only suggestion to the restaurant would be to provide more bread for the table. The dishes, at least at our meal, really lent themselves to sopping up with bread at the end and we all longed for more than we had. Service was great and friendly. You should absolutely visit here if you're in the immediate area. And if you're at all nearby, make the drive out for a great evening and meal.

The food was absolutely phenomenal. Really inspired and inspiring dishes. The kind you know you won't be able to recreate at home but you might try to anyway. The ambience was lovely without feeling overly formal. The real gem of our evening though, was the fantastic and engaging service from their bartender, V. We are already looking forward to our next date night.

Could have been great, but fell below expectations and left hungry. Made a reservation for 2 on their first Sunday dinner after their paella summer series, and we were seated along their side window overlooking the garden/parking lot. Pros: Intimate dining room with gorgeous table settings; I was obsessed with how buttery-soft their cloth napkins are (I didn't want to dirty them, they was so soft)! Romantic ambience and a unique cocktail menu. I appreciate that they pay their staff a living wage (and therefore, do not accept tips). Cons: The dining space has wonky acoustics, making it difficult to hear your dining companion but very easy to snoop upon tables across the dining room. Of the four-course menu, the first two courses are exceedingly "light," so we left our dinner still hungry. Additionally, they were understaffed, leaving the kitchen to assist the wait staff (and leading to a bit of confusion regarding which table ordered what). We arrived well before the rush and were seated immediately. The wait staff was friendly and took out order right away. As more tables were seated, kitchen staff began assisting the wait staff on the floor. Our cocktails were initially delivered to our neighboring table, so we had to wait an additional 20 minutes or so to receive our beverages (ie. After the first course) which was disappointing. The first course was a few slices of citrus and basil dusted with Parmesan. A dainty dish, but a nice way to wake up the palate! The second course was an endive salad, so bitter as to be indigestible. I took a few bites, but could not manage more and was rather disappointed. Our main course was a bowl of mussels, which were delicious and came served in an herbaceous broth with a side of thick cut bread. While the flavors did not disappoint, the serving size was again, quite small, even with the side of sliced bread. Our waiter came to ask whether we preferred coffee or tea with our dessert course, but did not clarify that it would be an additional charge (+$6 each). While we moved the deconstructed lemon meringue, we did not need the caffeine so late in the day, and would have skipped it had we known it was not a part of the pre-fix menu. Overall, we were unsatisfied with the experience and left hungry. I have heard great things about their breakfasts, but would not recommend nor repeat their pre-fix dinner menu.

Came here with a friend for the prix fix dinner. The second dish was endives, which I usually like, but in this case it was quite bitter. I appreciate that the ingredients were mostly local and fresh, still I may have preferred some slight manipulation to balance flavors. The main seafood dish was good and definitely "drank" some of the sauce. The staff was nice and the space was cute.

We had the most amazing Winter 6-Course Dinner here during a girls' weekend. It was fish-centered, with oysters, trout and mussels. Each and every morsel was amazing. One of our group doesn't eat fish/shellfish and Kristy and Chef Perry quickly made a soup/salad/pasta offering for our friend. Service and satiety at every level. The restaurant will be a forever pin on my destination map!!

Any foodie should pay a visit to the Boonville Hotel Restaurant in Anderson Valley. Every meal reflects their dedication to acquiring high-quality ingredients. While we weren't particularly fond of the green fava bean custard with apricot 'bread salad,' the rest of the dishes are spectacular! Our server, Sierra was attentive and wonderful. They also have an amazing wine list with exceptional options at reasonable pricing. Priced at just $95 per person for a sensational five-course meal, dining at the Boonville Hotel Restaurant is an incredible value. Their prix fixe dinners, available Thursday to Monday, offer a wide range of delectable options. And during the summer, they have Paella Sundays. Overall, the Boonville Hotel Restaurant is a pleasant dining experience that we look forward to when we return to the area.

Fish sandwiches really really good but not near as good as their tequila and their vodka is good too very generous portions and good weight staff

If you look through the recent reviews you will get a perfect sense of this space. A true dream location with fully authentic farm-to-table vibes and cooking. The vibe is truly the Anderson Valley experience - like being invited to a family friends cozy farm house. As for the food? Expect nothing less than stellar ingredients and comforting, cozy, healthy cooking with creative dishes that change by the day based on what is showing best in 'the market.' The market in Anderson Valley means whatever the neighbors gardens are producing or what friends are harvesting and fishing that day. Expect a full array of bright, smokey, savory, herbal, sweet, sour, etc. dishes. Chef Perry is at his best and the service here matches his relaxed confidence. If you stumble across this review and haven't been to Boonville, now is the time and your first dinner should be at the Boonville Hotel Restaurant

The property is sublime! Conversation areas everywhere. Some over looking the gardens that would be used later on in the dining room. And the preparations for the dinner crowd was more like an event where all involved huddled together for the presentation. Managers, chef, kitchen and wait staff.

This is a review of the restaurant. The Boonville Hotel Restaurant is required stop for any trip to Anderson Valley. The ingredients are top notch, the preparation is nearly perfect (the only thing that wasn't perfect was the risotto, which was a little watery), the service is great, and the wine list is awesome (with great prices). I will be going back again on this trip as at $86 it is a great value. More about the wine: - On the wine list they pour glasses of great wine from local producers such as Wentworth ($19/glass) who don't have a tasting room. - I also got a glass of Chateau Guiraud Sauternes ($16/glass), which was great. Some other things to note: - Run by the family of the founders of the French Laundry (more info here https://www.boonvillehotel.com/our-people) - The menu changes every night, although I'm told in the summer they do Paella Sundays - They accommodate dietary restrictions, this meal was pescatarian, but they can also accommodate other dietary restrictions, I would let them know ahead of time. - Reservations are over the phone

Great hotel is Booneville. Rooms and clean and unique. The hotel is rustic but everyone is friendly and the restaurant serves a nice tasting menu.

Last weekend we were in Mendocino Wine Country and had a fabulous meal at Boonville Hotel. For a Friday night reservation, they serve a 5 course meal and most of the produce comes from their garden or other farms within a couple miles of the hotel and restaurant. The meal was served on their patio overlooking the gardens. To start off our meal, we ordered a large carafe of Hobo Wine Company's 2020 'Workbook ' white blend with riesling, tocai fiulano, and verdelho. It was light, refreshing with lemon peel on the palate and a nice herbaceous, mineral and slate finish. It paired exceptionally well with the first dish which was early season lemon cucumbers with radishes, sea lettuce vinaigrette, sesame, sea beans and basil. Next we moved on to a chilled Hass avocado soup with capers and dill crema. It was light and refreshing with a beautiful silky texture. Then we ordered a bottle of local Pinot Noir from Minus Tides Winery. It was from 'Mariah's Vineyard' on the Mendocino Ridge that sits just above the fog line. It was medium bodied and elegant on the palate with beautiful rose and rosemary notes on the finish. The wine is unfined and unfiltered which gave it a slight earthiness and funk that paired beautifully with the next course; California cherries with duck liver pate, little gems, roasted spring carrots and garden tarragon. There was so much happening in the dish in both flavor and texture but the wine held up to the complexity of the dish. The Pinot also paired well with the next course; roasted Half Moon Bay sole with local mousserone mushrooms, fiddlehead ferns and garden chives. The fish was cooked perfectly but the star in the dish was the mushrooms. Mousserone, also called "fairy rings'', are wild mushrooms that sprout in the spring and summer on the West coast. They are similar in flavor to porcinis, but have a more nuanced earthiness and a floral flavor that pairs well with the Pinot. We ended our meal with a sponge cake with Sonoma strawberries, lemon curd chantilly cream and marigold petals. It was light and delicious and helped cleanse the dank and dirt from the mushrooms and natural wine. Boonville Hotel Restaurant was our best meal of the entire trip and the staff was super friendly and attentive. I cannot wait to go back during harvest season for a completely different menu with a full range of fall produce. They serve a 4 course meal on Thursday, Sunday, and Monday and a 5 course meal on Friday and Saturday nights as well as a la carte lunches on Sunday from noon until 2 pm. They have a fabulous wine list featuring local wines but you are more than welcome to open your own bottle for a $20 corkage fee. You can call to make reservations and get an idea of what will be on the menu.

Outstanding dinner at the restaurant! Don't pass this up when visiting the Anderson Valley. Exceptional meal on every course.

During Mendocino County Fair days, we spent two nights at the hotel. Accompanying us were another couple + a couple of sisters, six people in all. We loved the place; the rooms were very confortable; the food out of this world and most importantly, the service absolutely excellent. We particularly single out Terry at the bar and Vivian for food service out last nite there. As I told Ron on our way out, friend Bruce and I wanted to honor the female side of our group with a surprised B-day cake, this at the last minute. Told Ron I rested comfortably as the staff there just give you the feeling they will pull off kinda out of the ordinary requests. Sure enough, they nailed it that last nite there. We'll be back and can't recommend the hotel more highly...

Adding 20% to the room and even dinner to help the staff have a livable wage! Count me out!!! Just pay your staff a livable wage!Duh....

What a wonderful experience. Heard through the grapevine that they were serving dinners indoors. We called and they informed me that it would be a prix-fixe menu and that they had tables set up throughout the hotel in separate rooms. It was so cozy and actually seemed to work really well. The food and service were amazing! I would love to come back. I feel like the whole Mendocino area seems like they are overreacting a bit by the extreme measures in place to prevent covid. This establishment was entirely appropriate taking all precautions yet not impinging on my guest experience. You can do both. It doesn't seem like the other establishments we tried on the coast realize you can do both. Cheers to you!!!! Hope to see you soon!

5 stars all around for ambience, service and food. I visited here while I was visiting another friend in the area and I was blown away by everything. It was a perfect late summer night to eat outside so we did. That definitely helped create the vibe of evening but everything from the lasagna to even the salad was incredible. I forgot servers name but she was great. I hear it's hard to get a brake without a reservation so definitely call in I'm not sure if they even accept walk ins. A must on your trip in Mendocino county

We visited the Boonville Hotel with 2 friends of ours this week. I had heard exceptional things about the restaurant so I was very excited to visit. Upon arrival we were struck by this historic and charming hotel and its lovely grounds. We had an exceptional meal at the restaurant that evening - each course was bursting with flavor and color and we all agreed we thought the food was excellent despite all of us having varying degrees of food preferences. Service - from the time we arrived the service was not on point. Our check-in experience was fine but we were not told that there would be no daily room service to make up our beds/freshen towels etc. That in itself was not a big issue, however, I would think it appropriate to mention. Also, despite being on the property for 2 days and sitting out in the grounds as well as in the living room in the evenings, we were never once approached by any of the staff members to ask if we needed anything. We went to the bar and did self service for all beverages and 20% was added automatically to everything. On our 2nd evening we had a reservation for 7 p.m. and despite being hotel guests, we were told upon seating that our main courses would not be the pre-advertised lamb but we would be having beef - as in the leftovers from the night before... they simply ran out of their main course protein by 7 p.m. The food that evening was the opposite of the night before. To start, a bowl full of lettuce leaves in a completely flavorless dressing or olive oil, followed by anchovies which appeared to be out of a can, followed by a very cold main course. Desert was a combo the night's before chocolate cake and cherries with a scoop of ice cream. At no point did our servers explain what they were dropping on the table or ask us how our food was. We brought a bottle of wine and our server dropped a wine key on our table but did not ask us if we would like it opened - there is a $20 corkage fee + 20% gratuity on top. Dinner runs baseline at $58 per person - not impressed. Ohh and at check out, we see we got another $10 per day 'service charge' despite there being little to no service to speak of. We paid over $500 for 2 nights in one of their smallest rooms which had no place to store any clothes with the exception of a tiny slit in the wall with 4 hangers. Not even a tiny chest of drawers for storing other items of clothing. The room was also very hot. One window had a bug screen, the other did not and the one that did have the screen slammed shut after being open for a while in the middle of the night. The room had no AC - it's an older hotel and 'cheaper' room but fix the screen and window issue at least. It is a gorgeous location and a charming property however, the overall lack of engagement, service, food consistency, communication and friendliness sadly left a lasting impression and we will not be returning.

Such a cool little place in Boonville! Have been trying to try this place for a couple years now and it finally worked out! On the menu this visit was duck confit and it was absolutely awesome. The staff are friendly, they accommodated us early as we got into town an hour early. Would definitely visit again!

So many incredible layers to my 2 night experience here I almost don't know where to start! Beautiful gardens and areas everywhere to fit whatever vibe you feel hanging out in. The cabin we had was beautiful. It had a very comfortable bed and felt like a fairytale. The breakfast delivered to the room was outstanding! I want the cheese scone recipe!! At the restaurant every bite we had during our tasting menu was divine! Most memorable was the duck!

My boyfriend and I booked a stay for our birthday getaway and we could not have had a better experience! The staff was friendly and helpful regarding restaurant recommendations since most things are closed on Tuesday's and Wednesday's . Our room was adorable and clean, we stayed in room #1 with a super cool balcony. It felt like everyone went above and beyond to make us feel safe in this pandemic. Breakfast was delivered to our room where staff knocked and swiftly left to avoid contact. It definitely has a mom and pop feel. We were literally the only people staying in the hotel on our last night and the bartender was kind enough to introduce himself and say goodnight before he went home. Breakfast in the morning was absolutely beautiful! It's clear that whoever does the cooking puts love into it. This is such a peaceful oasis, it's definitely the most relaxed I've felt this whole crazy year. The only thing that bummed me out was that we were able to make a dinner reservation online before our visit when the restaurant was actually closed the two nights we were staying (I heard so many great things!) ... next time :) Thanks for such a wonderful time!

There are some things in life that cannot be anticipated ahead of time but that, in retrospect, appear all but inescapable, appropriate, and utterly - utterly - right. An afternoon, evening, and early morning spent at the Boonville Hotel can be like all of that sometimes. At least it was for me. Truth be told, I thought that I knew the hotel pretty darn well from previous stays. What more was there really left to learn? How awesome the rooms are? How welcoming the staff can be with local tips and ideas for enjoying your visit to the area? The beauty and restfulness of the gardens? The top notch breakfasts and tea service? No, these were all "known knowns." I had experienced them before. But I did not anticipate the kittens and cats who entertained us with their antics and distracted us from the latest news out of Washington DC. I had forgotten how good locally made apple juice tastes, or of the way that a pair of cheese biscuits (still warm from the oven), hard boiled farm eggs, salt, spicy pimenton (Piment d'Ville, made with locally grown Espelette chiles) and a cup or two of freshly roasted coffee (from Black Oak Roasters in Ukiah) can make a truly memorable morning meal. I did not plan on sleeping so deeply or for so long. I had not expected to be so enchanted by the sound of heavy morning rain accompanied by Spanish guitar music and a steaming cup of jasmine pearls green tea. Typically when spending a single night in a hotel, I am eager to move on. To get an early sunrise start. To hit the open road. To drive off into the unknown once more. But here - and perhaps only here - I am inclined to linger. To brew a second cup of tea. To walk just one more time through the flower, herb, and vegetable gardens. To take yet another picture of the cats. To let the rains fall and curl up a little more tightly underneath the warmth of a soft blanket. How many other hotels do you know that are capable of causing such deeply real and authentically emotional human reactions? This may not be precisely why I travel so widely and seek out unique places to bed down for the night like the Boonville Hotel. But I think it comes pretty close.

Not impressed. A friend and I wanted to explore the Anderson Valley. There aren't many choices for lodging and we decided upon the Boonville Hotel. The hotel is cute but be prepared for cramped rooms and uncomfortable beds. The service was spotty yet they add a 20% fee on top of the cost per night to "ensure a livable wage for employees," an honorable gesture but why not just include that in your cost per night? If you choose to stay there keep that in mind for the restaurant as well and know that you have no choice about the 20% included in the charge, intended for the wait staff. We missed that small print and after eating in the restaurant, left a 24% tip in cash on the table. We didn't realize it until getting home and reviewing the paid bill. Since our dinner was charged to the room, the wait staff was aware of the double tip and never mentioned it during our stay. In my humble opinion that was deceptive. Next time we will stay in Hopland at the Thatcher Hotel. The cost of rooms are comparable, the hotel is beautifully renovated and there is a full bar, not just wine and beer. We discovered the Thatcher Hotel by wandering in. We were greeted by several staff members, shown around the hotel and treated to tea. It was over the top care and the extra drive is well worth it!

Absolutely incredible meal, gorgeous setting, and gracious service. Was so nice we came back the evening after doing the prix fixe to have a glass of wine and some small plates. A real highlight of our trip, and so wonderful we might have to make a trip down just to come here (and try staying at the hotel).

If you are not already staying at the hotel, in order to make it to the restaurant in time for dinner, you will have to make your way through the barren, twisting, and mountainous path of Highway 128, all the way up to the point when you reach the charming community of Boonville. This is the sort of food that can be easily consumed over and over again without any difficulty. Check the restaurant's website before making the journey there since the restaurant's operating hours change according to the season and the food that is being served on any given day. Anyone who is going to be in the Anderson Valley region should make a stop at the Boonville Hotel Restaurant at some point during their trip. The ingredients are of the finest quality, the cooking is virtually perfect (the risotto, which was a bit watery, was the only dish that wasn't perfect), the service is superb, and the wine selection is outstanding (with great prices). This location, in which I spent the weekend, is filled to the brim with fantastic features and characteristics; in fact, I nearly don't know where to begin describing them all! There are several breathtaking gardens and open areas sprinkled around, each of which was created to work in harmony with a certain ambiance. The vacation home that we stayed in was really gorgeous. It seemed like we were living in a dream, and the bed was quite cozy. A highlight of the stay was the delectable breakfast that was provided to the room each morning.

This is absolutely one of our favorite spots in Anderson Valley. We have dined here many times in the past and have always been impressed by the quality of ingredients used by the kitchen, and the friendly staff that work throughout the hotel and restaurant. The owners are incredibly generous and welcoming to all guests, as is the chef. We recently stayed in the new Tower Up building and I highly recommend it. It is well apportioned and was extremely comfortable. During Covid, they have adapted quite well to making sure that everyone feels safe -- for example, they deliver your breakfast to your door with a full pot of French press coffee and delicious home-cooked biscuits, scones, and other yummy treats. Dinner is also brought to your room and is not to be missed!! We look forward to returning and seeing our friends at the Boonville Hotel soon!

Wife and I stayed at this historic hotel on a recent vacation. Two ways to look at this place. Strictly for what you get for what you pay, it's not a bargain. The room was small, no TV, a simple bathroom with no door so easy to hear sounds from the toilet in the main room. For us, this totally the point. We absolutely loved this charming, rustic interior of our room and the way they cleverly use the outdoor to create a cozy outdoor environment. The hotel blends seamlessly with the surrounding farm/wine country. Our two days at the Boonville in was a completely unique, enjoyable experience. So if you're looking for a functional room at a good price, this is not the place for you. But if you want to experience Mendocino County in an intimate way, this is the place to stay.

Every time I stay here, it's like walking into a Sundance Catalogue. I almost expect to see Robert Redford himself emerge early one morning from the Casita guesthouse and ask how I am enjoying my visit to Anderson Valley. Especially in midsummer, the action shifts outdoors to the gardens, the orange trumpet vine encrusted pagoda, and the courtyard, where you can dine on expertly prepared paella every Sunday starting at 6:30pm (bar service begins at 5:30pm with small plates like oysters available) The paella is cooked using a traditional pan placed over an almond wood and oak fire. You can pair your meal with either local or European wines, or craft beer, hard cider, or non-alcoholic beverages. Wood fired pizzas and other delectable dishes are prepared Thursday through Monday and are open to all by prior reservations, not just to hotel guests. The current chef, Perry H., comes with Michelin star credentials earned in South Korea and Napa Valley - at Domain Chandon - before the restaurant was closed in 2014. He also was in charge of the kitchen at Headsburg's much adored locavore-centric cafe, The Shed, for several years before it, too, shuttered its doors to the public. Yes, the fine dining business can be excessively and destructively competitive at times and stressful to its staff, who burn out at rates far too high for people of such talent, drive, and passion. Sometimes a Michelin star means "stay away!" and not "eat here, no matter what it might cost." Fortunately, personal connections led Chef Perry and his small but growing family back to Anderson Valley, where things happen at a slower pace and there are fewer covers to turn over in any given night. This translates into more freedom to cook what is fresh and local and mix things up on short notice when an appealing seasonal food item becomes available. In addition to sourcing fish, shellfish, pastured meats, eggs, and mushrooms from local Mendocino purveyors of top-quality products, Table 128, as the hotel's restaurant is called (after the highway, CA-128, that runs through town), also makes ample use of the fragrant herbs, edible flowers, ripe fruits, and organic vegetables grown on the hotel's lushly landscaped grounds. The multi-course menus (typical meals range from about $35 to $65 per person depending on the number and type of dishes being served) are inspired and intellectual without being too precious or pretentious about them. They are posted online about a week ahead of time, so you can plan ahead if you'd like to dine here or at another Anderson Valley farm-to-table favorite, such as The Bewildered Pig. Breakfast service for guests starts around 8:30am. Self service, it is a leisurely way to start the morning and invites you to linger over fresh farm eggs, warm scones, sliced local strawberries, and granola with yogurt made on site. Coffee is from Black Oak Coffee Roasters in Ukiah and loose leaf teas are from the Jasmine Pearl Tea Company, in Portland, Oregon. While it isn't a luxury resort like those in Sonoma or Napa, you would be hard pressed to find somewhere to spend the night that is as quietly and radiantly rapturous as the Boonville Hotel. It may not roll off the tongue with a foreign sounding flair like Auberge de Soleil, or sound as nice to pronounce as "Sundance," but that's the way things work around these parts. The best places are always hidden in plain sight at the exact spot where you least expect to find them. If you want to do Anderson Valley right, I recommend that you plan ahead and reserve a room and dinner table here before you leave. The paella will taste better that way, too, because you will have earned it!

We stayed at the Boonville Hotel for a night several weeks back. The ambience of the hotel was incredible and we loved it right off the bat. We stayed in one of the rooms in the back which was great although it rained for a portion of our stay, so we didn't get to fully enjoy the patio. We also had the dinner on Saturday night and while the dinner itself was great and the food quality was top notch, I felt things were pretty overpriced so I drop it a star.

I cannot recommend the hotel and restaurant enough. My husband and I stayed for two nights, and the atmosphere, service, food, wine, room, and their property couldn't have been better. They also have a property cat, Robin, that keeps you warm on your lap. Love this place and will for sure come back! Cheers!

we were at Booneville hotel for dinner during Sierra Nevada Reggae Festival, beautiful out garden seating, and food and drinks were good. we are pescatarians and they ran out of seafood and offered some vegetarian options that worked out.

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel. It's a sweet bed and breakfast style located in Anderson Valley. Definitely a place built for connection with others. There are not tv's or other electronics in the room. There is wifi but their pamphlets in the room don't include the password. I would suggest to include this in the future to make it easier on your guests. However they do include wine glasses, water, a nice tray/cutting board, and a multi tool with a wine bottle opener. The first time I stayed we stayed in the main hotel room and it was nice basically the classic hotel style. The second time I stayed in the side room. It has cool stained glass detailing, interesting light fixtures, and is in its own little space. The bathroom shower curtain doesn't quite reach the floor and make the bathroom a bit wet after showering. There is a radiator and a thermostat but we had some trouble working the heater on the thermostat at first it worked and then it got bit finicky. I would say this room would be better for the summer rather than late October since it was a bit chilly and had mostly glass doors and a tin roof which is not so great at keeping the heat in. The property itself is great! There are lots of tables and chairs in a garden like atmosphere. You can sit out and enjoy a glass of wine or have a cup of tea and read through some books. Their complimentary breakfast is delightful with delicious scones, eggs, yogurt, granola, apples, fresh brewed coffee, and apple cider. We also had dinner at the restaurant which the chef had founded french laundry. We had 4 courses a lovely charred Zuchinni salad with basil, dried figs, and pickled onions, a mushroom soup with noodles, fried cod on top of a peanut sauce, and a delicious pecan cake with cream anglaise. There are also a lot of attractions within walking distance for some wine tasting or shopping. Also plenty of farms, wine tasting, and hikes within driving distance. The Boonville hotel is a place you can come to and relax which is low key and representative of old school California wine culture without being pretentious.

What a special place the Boonville Hotel is! This incredibly charming and craftsman hotel is the perfect romantic getaway. All of the rooms, individually designed and crafted, offer cozy privacy, but steps away you can go to the main house to play games, drink wine and enjoy the beautiful outdoor garden. The food here is outstanding! In the morning they set up breakfast with homemade granola, fresh fruits, hard boiled with piment d'ville pepper and usually a speciality item (the frittata is to die for!). We always do dinner one night at table 128 and it is always spectacular. Menu decided that week based off local ingredients and what's in season, the 3 course pre-fix never disappoints. This was our first tradition to come annually and we love it - we even got engaged here!! Boonville hotel will always hold such a special place in my heart and can't wait for our next trip!

Hard to get into, but oh so worth it! Best dining experience in Mendocino County. Me being me, I usually go on Sundays or Mondays when they allow non-guests in for dinner. These folks are warm and friendly, unlike so many in the region. The hostess called us into the kitchen to view the incredible roast before carving. Wonderful! Everything was more than fresh, from the bread to the salad, to the main dish. This is my number one place in Mendo. When I die, I want the wake to be there, with lots of wine! Yeah

During COVID I drove, on a whim, over the hill and onto new backroads. When I spilled out into boonville, I was hungry. Saw the restaurant. Went in. No reservation, but they were able to seat me on the patio under a fruiting Apple tree! As a single, I appreciated that they did not shuffle me off to the side, but instead put me amongst the people. The ambiance was exquisite. Great music, lighting, and grounds rolling with gardens and flowers. It was A pris fix meal, and not ready yet, so I strolled and chatted, socially distanced, with guests. The wait staff was attentive. The food was superb. Delicious. I had left overs to enjoy the next day. A lovely, unexpected experience. Thank you.

Booneville Hotel takes advantage of the fact that they have so many followers that they don't really care if you have any concerns. When you book a reservation, you get an email that says you are required to have dinner at the hotel. What they don't say outright is that there is no dinner served on Wednesday night. Second, this will sound petty, but after paying $250 a night for a room...the flowers in the room were dried and wilted. What a shame considering there were so few guests at the hotel that night and the garden has so many pretty flowers waiting to be harvested. I am sure there is a there there at other places, just not here.

While looking for a nice meal in the Boonville area, we stopped into the Boonville Hotel to check out their menu. The prix fix meal sounded delicious except for a shellfish allergy issue, and we didn't have a reservation. After a quick check with the chef, they were able to accommodate us. We decided to splurge - and it was glorious! Each course was beautiful in presentation. The local ingredients really put each dish over the top: fresh from the garden spring asparagus, gooseberries, nettle, oyster mushrooms ... thoughtful and delicious dishes that were beautiful without being at all precious or pretentious. Yum. The setting is perfect for a long lingering meal. T

Very nice hotel with clean and cozy rooms especially room 1. The staf is very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was great but pricey, and the staf is not really aware of what they are serving when you ask about what's on your plate... we had a birthday here and really enjoyed our stay. It feels like you are at a friend's house with a beautiful garden and great atmosphere.

The restaurant is fantastic if you love all local fresh ingredients. The chef is from Shed which was one of our favorites in Healdsburg before it closed. I don't mind paying for quality ingredients. And the hotel is lovely. I so wish there more places like this. People really need to value this kind of dining more.

We just dined here, didn't stay. That said, an exceptional meal. Well conceptualized dishes using great ingredients, wonderfully executed and simply delicious. They have a great, large patio area making dining during the pandemic easy and accessible. Chef Perry Hoffman is bringing his magic to this spot, so don't miss out.

A group of my friends and I did the Boonville hotel for our Anderson Valley wine weekend last weekend. I've stayed here multiple times before so it pains me to give this place a scathing review. The feeling that this place used to give me is now gone. It has maintained it's charming aesthetic throughout the years but I'm afraid that hospitality has gone out the window. This hotel has become a house of "no". We had a series of requests over the course of the weekend all of which were declined. Over the course of two days we spent roughly $2,500-3,000 at this hotel and it's restaurant. Hospitality is incredibly important at a place charging significantly more than neighboring hotels. This is not a home away from home anymore. As for the restaurant, some of the service staff showed visible disdain for our party. Eye rolling, keeping conversation short, skipping us at certain parts of the service which resulted in one case of them running out of ingredients for an item we wanted to order. Every member of my table had some comment to be made about how we were treated at this hotel's restaurant. Disclosure, we were 8 professionals in our mid-thirties. We're not hipsters and we were drinking. It seems that if you don't fit into their aesthetic or you're not a local you'll be treated poorly. I had dined at the restaurant before and did recognize repeat guests as well. They obviously just did not want to deal with us.

We just returned from a magical wedding weekend at the Boonville Hotel. As the father of the bride, I was involved in the booking/logistics for this special life event. Of course, we all wanted the wedding to be "fairy-tale" perfect. It was. Melinda (the hotel manager) and the rest of the staff were so helpful and responsive in meeting all of our requests. She made many suggestions to aid in making the event a success within our budget. From the moment we checked-in until we left for home, we felt welcomed, comfortable and well-cared for. Our wedding party occupied every room of the hotel for the weekend. There is a nice mix of accommodations, from cozy, smallish (but not too small) rooms, to sprawling suites and guest houses. My wife is the inspiration for the story of "The Princess and the Pea". When she laid on our bed, she said it was, "Perfect!" It had a perfect mix of pillowy soft over a firm base. I really enjoyed the shower in our comfortable bathroom. The water-flow and temp were perfect. And the complimentary plant-based shampoos and soaps were of the highest quality. The kitchen produced wonderfully delicious, nutritious and beautifully presented meals. Brennan (the chef) and the rest of the kitchen and wait staff were accommodating, friendly and professional. When all was said and done, everyone went home with smiles on their faces, wishing we could have spent more time at the Boonville Hotel.

We loved our stay at the Hotel! Went to escape and got just what we were looking for. Amazing people at the Hotel who welcomed us with open arms! We ate our meals with them and every bite was delicious! Thank you everyone at the Boonville Hotel for making a great weekend escape.

The hotel was offering a special offseason rate, so decided to book a short 2 night trip to take advantage of it. Stayed in the Casita and arrived on Sat to also have dinner in the restaurant. The Casita is a quaint private cottage located across the patio from the main bldg. It's one of the most expensive lodgings but the special rate made it more afforable. Dinner was splendid as usual. Upgraded my prior review from 4 to 5 stars because IMO I reading fon't think it gets better much than this, at least for Anderson Valley.

We were lucky enough to snag a table on Wednesday night (when they're mostly only open for their guests) - they had a small menu, 3-4 small plates, a main, and a dessert but it was only one chef serving 4-5 parties so it made sense. Everything was fresh and beautifully made, the pasta was probably the best dish we had on the trip. We split two small plates, the pasta, and Carmel ice cream with chantilly cream between 3 of us but we weren't that hungry as we'd been wine tasting and snacking all day in the valley. Highly recommend if you can snag a spot!

It's my work, my home and my community. I couldn't ask for a better place to be.

This is for restaurant only - the best dinner we had in our 8 day trip including through Napa and Sonoma. First course was homemade pasta with braised artichokes and salt cured olives and then fish with fava beans and mushroom - all super seasonal and local, excellent wine list and service! Only regret is that we tried a different restaurant the next night and we should have come back here. Can't wait to go back.

Stopped at the Boonville Hotel on my way to Grants Pass, OR. I actually didn't intend to stay at this specific hotel, but it got late driving along the winding Hwy 253 and before I knew it, it was time to look for a place to stay. I wasn't sure how far the next town would be, so I took a chance. At this point, dinner service was wrapping up and my friend and I weren't sure where to stay or eat. We walked into the lobby and a very nice young man told us they had a vacancy. Because we were obviously only looking for a bed and shower at this hour (after 9 -- Boonville closes down early), he gave us a reduced rate for a room. After setting our bags in the room, we briefly wandered around town looking for some sundries and a quick bite. Across the street was a Mexican restaurant, so we picked up a couple of tortas and carried them back to the room. Our room was spacious, super clean, very comfortable and the bathroom was HUGE! We scarfed down our meal, washed up and called it a night. Early the next morning, there were complimentary scones, jam and coffee. (SO GOOD!) We then wandered the grounds for a bit. The garden out back is where they source a lot of their ingredients for dinner service, or so I was told. I have to admit, I had serious garden envy. I also went gaga over the hotel's patio. There was also a cute cat wandering around the hotel's garden. We left the Boonville Hotel well rested, fed and inspired.

My husband and I had a wedding in the area, and we not only stayed at the Boonville Hotel, but so did our entire bridal party and some of our guests (we basically took over the whole place). AND we also threw our rehearsal dinner and "Welcome Party" on their grounds. This means we had to work with the staff over a period of months to plan everything. And, every step of the way, the staff at the Boonville Hotel was amaze-balls. SO SO SO sweet and responsive. They even did things like change their coursed menu to accommodate allergies without even batting an eye. And that welcome party they helped us throw? OMFG our guests are still talking about how magical it all was. They held our hand through special menus, wine and beer choices, timing, and floral arrangements (which they then helped carry back to our hotel room for us so we could say goodbye to all our guests!!!). I can't thank them enough for their special attention that resulted in a magical evening and a wonderful wedding weekend. The ONLY reason this isn't 5 stars is because most of the hotel doesn't have AC. Which made the rooms really hard to enjoy during a heatwave. Although, if you're prepared, you can take measures to cool down your rooms, and it DOES cool down drastically overnight. Our guests weren't stoked about the heat, but they barely complained because the rest of their experience with The Boonville Hotel was PERFECTION. I'd highly recommend The Boonville Hotel, not just for a place to stay during your time in the Anderson Valley, but as a special events space too. There are some places you go that invoke a sense of peace, calmness, and that you think about going back to often. The Boonville Hotel is one of those places. If I could live there, I would. The property is situated on a main street with an old house as the main building. The rear opens up to a gorgeous garden, with their individually designed bungalow-style rooms set around various parts of the property. It looks like a little village back there. We reserved for just one night, a Sunday, and were graciously upgraded from the side room (their most affordable), to the pump house which was a really nice surprise. The room had a private entrance, the best shower ever, and was meticulously designed in a way that evoked a little bit country, a little bit hipster. There was no T.V. so we cracked open a bottle from the one of the day's tastings, turned up the heater, and chilled the F out. In the morning, we walked the grounds and took them all in. I suppose since we stayed on a Sunday night there weren't many people staying there, but we literally saw no one else besides the staff during our entire stay, which made it feel like the place was all ours. Possibly a reason for it feeling so magical and memorable. Food-wise we were pretty sad their restaurant, Table 128 was closed so we opted to walk across the street to Aquarelle. Breakfast was healthy and the coffee was fresh. The best part of this story is when we were sitting at breakfast after checkout and the maid brought me a pair of my undies that I had forgotten in a wine bag we had left for recycling. Luckily, since we were the only people there, no one else got to see my beet red face as I thanked her.
