The Best Places to Eat at Borough Market

"Borough Market has moved the majority of its hot food traders to a curated, purposely built dining space complete with long tables; essentially a food hall, just one without walls. Long-standing favourites remain, not least Brindisa’s chorizo, pepper and rocket rolls; Horn OK Please’s spicy potato-filled chickpea dosas; and La Tua fresh pasta. Elpiniki, formerly Gourmet Goat’, is an established highlight as well, with goat kofta pitas, slow roast veal on bulghur pilaf and seasonal salads, all of which merge Cypriot flavours with sustainable British ingredients. But the hit is probably Kubba, Philip Juma’s tribute to Iraqi street food." - Ed Smith

Exquisite selection of all foods , beverages and treats. A hugely social place a great place to enjoy after a week’s work is done. A wonderful place for breakfast lunch brunch or evening snacking. All kinds of cuisine from different parts of the world. The market gave the impression of a London from a long time ago where tradersbrought their produce. Lovely feel to the place.

The sandwiches are delicious, the service is fast and good, I have been there in busy days near Christmas so we need to be in the queue for little time. The time worth to wait. The bread is soft, and the flavors are just amazing. I tried “The Best One” and is filled with : slow roast pork shoulder, honey truffle, mayo, salsa verde, peperoncini s'ott ollo, fennel apple slaw & 30mo aged parmesan. So Delicious!

Google
Amazing experience. Definitely going back another day. Big variety of different kinds of food, drinks. Just amazing, worth it!

Absolutely amazing choice of street food from all over the world, sometimes packed but you can take it a few steps away to eat eg in front of the Thames and the city. Delicious ramen, Thai food including sticky rice and mango, or Iraqi Knafeh (dessert) for instance!

Google
Amazing street food stalls, so much choice it was hard to know where to go to first! Be careful as it is easy to miss, you will come to the end of Borough Market and then there is a sign for the street food market. It is alive with people bustling around and food from every culture you could wish for - they even provide chopsticks should you wish to use them.

When in London I always make my way to Borough Market. The quality of foods available is phenomenal. I blow my mind and my credit card every time.

Yelp
different kinds of food, a lot of people. a little bit of chaotic, but all the merchants are very welcoming. A nice place to look for some street food.

Yelp
The borough market is a fun place to visit. You can go by all the little shops and grab treats to eat. There's not a ton of variety, but everything is yummy, especially the alfajores at the Brazilian shop. If you're not looking for food... Which, why would you not be looking for food?... There are lots of little gifts you can bring home if you're a traveler, like me :-)

Yelp
Have been to this market many many times and I love it here- the oldest market in London, has some great food stalls - just don't visit during Xmas Happened to go here on a food tour so lucky our guide managed to get us different foods without us having to wait in the crowds Some of the stalls are overpriced and overhyped through tik tok! My favorite bite this past time was at humble crumble and the fish and chips were really good Definitely a must visit on a trip to London- go early to avoid crowds

Yelp
Loved this market! There are lots of food options. Get in line for the pealla because it is worth it. Beautiful color, large portion served hot at a great price. Had a great deli sandwich that had great flavor. The market also had lots of dessert options. We enjoyed cookies and brownies. Service was quick although there were alot of people through out the market. I wish we had market like this in FL.

Yelp
Oh what fun we had at the borough Market. A must stop if you're a foodie: unique food vendors, cheese meat and seafood vendors, and excellent produce and dairy stops.

Yelp
Obviously, this stop was at the top of my London list! I could not wait to arrive and took the opportunity to visit as soon as our bags were dropped at the hotel. I loved the variety of food options! Seafood, dessert, Asian food, sandwiches, I could literally go on. This market spans several blocks and streets. Several vendors offer samples, like the cheese options available. I tried the paella - I think it was more IG hype than anything, taste was good but they were VERY stingy with the protein. I literally ate a bowl of seasoned rice. I tried the chocolate covered strawberries - they were good, but based on what others have said I expected them to be much sweeter and pinker. Got good photos though. I had a sandwich from the Black Pig. I was so excited about this because it looked amazing -- sadly it was so salty I couldn't finish it. I tried warm custard for the first time - different, but I liked it! I was so stuffed after these I couldn't eat anything else. I also grabbed some gifts from here to take home and there were so many other places I would have loved to try but we simply ran out of time. Plan to spend several hours here, perhaps even a day. That way you can browse at your leisure and really take in all the options and enjoy it. I hope to return very soon.

Yelp
Kicking off the new year with a review of one of our favorite places in London... Borough Market was recommended by everyone I spoke to when planning our trip and now I know why... It was everything we thought it would be and more! We walked over from our hotel and took in all of what this glorious market had to offer... the aromas of fresh bread, seafood, all kinds of cuisine, and the brightly colored fruits and veggies, beautiful crafts, bustling people (both tourists and locals), and so much more. We started with purchasing some oysters and then made our way to a loaf of bread... and that's when I remembered that Padella, the Italian restaurant, was also highly recommended, so I put our name in there and we continued to walk around the market while we waited to sit down. I'm not sure we saw the entire market as it's pretty large, and we definitely didn't get to purchase everything we would have wanted to if staying in town for longer, but we did get a solid taste of it (literally). All of this to say, but I can confirm that Borough Market is a must-see when in London!

Yelp
Have been looking forward to a visit here for some time. One of the several large urban markets that include prepared food, artisan groceries, a pub or two. We visited the stop known for the "world famous sausage roll" which was good, but not overwhelming. We also shared a plate of paella, which was quite good. There are a lot of interesting meatmongers selling cured meats and picked up a few that sounded interesting. Recommend to any vacationer that they try this place, short walk from the tube, less crowded mid week.

Yelp
I visited the Borough Market on a Wednesday afternoon and it was packed and chaotic! I can't imagine what this market is like on the weekend. There are endless variety of food and vendors. You got cheese, pastries, spices, wine, flowers, paella, lobster rolls, , tacos, raw oysters, sausages, truffles, chocolate strawberries (famous on social media), and so much more. I found myself walking around in circles. I wish there was some sort of organization or section. Two things they can improve is the bathroom situation. The line was ridiculously long. Not many spots for you to enjoy your food. Overall it was a fun experience and a must stop if you enjoy food!

Yelp
Borough market is the premium market to go to in London. You can just get about any type of drink or cuisine they have just about every culture covered. It will be packed with people and there are public toilets available as well. This place is a must visit for any tourist who is visiting London it really brings out the UK and many other countries cultures.

Yelp
Incredible variety of food. I had some oysters, donuts, sausage rolls, smoothies and cheese. So much cheese. The place is a centerpiece of London a must stop for anyone looking for a quick bite or visiting.

Yelp
Borough Market was our first stop in London when we arrived as it was very close to where we were staying. I had heard prior to coming here that it's pretty consistently busy and the couple of times I went during my trip was no exception. They have a variety of vendors from who you can buy your essentials; meats & cheeses, fruits & vegetables, jams, etc. Then there's a variety of hot foods available; fish & chips, sandwiches, Indian street food, paella, etc. I had to grab the instagram famous sandwich from The Black Pig and a dessert from Humble Crumble. I'm a fan of sandwiches anyway, but this did not disappoint; so many different flavors, it was a nice lunch. I had gotten the apple & cinnamon crumble, wasn't too big of a fan of the apple filling but the crumble itself and the hot custard with almonds & rose petals were so delicious!! I'd come back just for that. The best part above all is probably the variety. It's a lot of fun walking around and seeing all the craze. If you're a tourist, I'd definitely add this to your list!

Yelp
Many cities around the world have open air markets like this, where every cuisine imaginable is available, usually open only for lunch. You would also find it hard to not eat everything you pass by. I am not going to waste my time, or yours, and list vendors here. There is plenty. What I will state is that this place is hectic. Too many people, too much standing around. Honestly, the food options are not that great to begin with. They are fair, but nothing stands out to me as a must have. I enjoyed my paella and my strawberries and chocolate, but other items I feel you can get elsewhere for a better deal. Regarding the standing around, there are staff members stationed around the market to keep you moving, most of the time anyway. If that does not work, the pigeons around the market also act as referees for anybody not following the rules either. You do not want to mess with them. Just one and done, or twice, or three times...

Yelp
I visited this market during my trip in London since everyone said that this was the best food market in the area, and after trying different places out there I can see why. Compared to a lot of other markets I've been to in the past, the scale of this place is pretty big with a ton of different options packed into it. With a wide variety of foods from artisanal olives to goat milk ice cream to crispy sausage rolls, Borough Market definitely has something for everyone. The places I went to were Richard Haward's Oysters, The Ginger Pig, The Black Pig, and The Greedy Goat. These all were excellent, and I really enjoyed my experiences with each one! For me the oysters and the Ginger Pig's sausage roll really stood out, but I'd encourage anyone visiting to explore as many options as they can! It might be hard to find some of the places if you're new to it, but if you ask any of the people working there they are really helpful and might even guide you to where you need to go!

Yelp
Visiting the Borough Market was the top of our list of things to do when we visited London and it did not disappoint. I will admit, the amount of people, and crowds at the Borough Market and in London in general surprised me, but it doesn't take away from how fun and impressive it is. The market spans a good amount of space and you'll find everything from fresh produce, cheese and meat to cooked items, gifts and more. Since we were visiting, we were most interested in items we could enjoy then and there. During peak hours you can be shoulder to shoulder with others, and even during quieter hours it's crowded. Being able to set up a meeting spot and then divide and conquer with ordering items is a good plan. There were times where my husband and I would order and I would wait for the food to be ready while he headed off to another booth to order something. Be ready to stand and eat as there are very few places to sit, but it's mostly street food and is easy to walk and enjoy. I wish we had more time to explore while we were here, because everything we tried was delicious. The Hero at Nana Fanny's was our favorite. The curry at Khanom Krok was delicious, we had samosas at a booth as well and it's all very tasty. I recommend exploring and trying things from multiple places.

Yelp
A must while in London. A good tour would be very cool, but we just walked around and looked /tasted. We went on a Sunday and it was very busy with traffic jams periodically. Some of the food we tried out included: Comptoir Bakery: pistachio doughnut that was to die for, filled with pistachio creme and topped with crushed pistachio. Flat Cap Coffee: Tried the mocha and flat white. Coffee was delicious, not overly sweet! The black big: the best one sandwich. Delicious but slightly overrated in my opinion, i might pick something else next time. We had to enter via stairs. It appeared that you could access from street level without issue. I would try to come during the week/less crowded time to make the experience more enjoyable if you have accessibility needs.

Yelp
Absolutely a must do when in London! It's the one place I constantly recommend to everyone! I lived in London 10 years ago seeing their 1000th year and that was so cool to experience. Now visiting as a tourist after the advent of tiktok, this is what I always tell people to do. Plan to go twice. Once, go, make a list of where you want to stop and must do's from social media. Plan to wait in line. Just embrace it. Then go back a second time and just stop at any booth that looks interesting. It will be two totoaly different experiences!

Yelp
Such an amazing market and it's huge. It's got everything from produce and groceries to cheese and wine stalls to high quality bespoke restaurants. The stalls have some incredible food options. Our most recent visit we got humble crumble and the black pig. Humble crumble has some amazing crumble dessert while the black pig had the longest line for any restaurant there but had the most amazing sandwich. Can't say enough good things. Also love the beer and wine stalls. There's a beer stall there that has some of our favorite Belgian beers. There's also a handful of wine stalls that have some really cool, some locally sourced options too.

Yelp
Borough Market is a MUST when in London. Be prepared for the crowds as everyone does love to visit this area. I'd recommend going first thing when they open at 11am or during an off time that's not a weekend - if possible. Borough has so much to offer and not to mention my absolute favorite stall, The Black Pig. I will dream about this sandwich foreverrr! So delicious. Also, Borough Olives blew my mind with the variety of mixes and how buttery their stone in olives were. Give it a try! Borough Market has a great atmosphere - although busy - it's great fun for all! Even if you don't order any food items, just looking at the different stalls is wonderful!

Yelp
Best food market you can attend in London. Make sure you seeing by jumi cheese and ask for a sample of the blue brain cheese.
google avatar

Yelp
Top market with a lot of variety PRO TIP:: Try the Black pig sandwiches which are great, paella is nice, strawberries with chocolate good as well PRO TIP: Avoid weekends if you can, it gets pretty busy A very nice stroll with lots of variety right by the Thames with great views of the tower bridge, London bridge, etc A staple for any tourist to visit

Yelp
Amazing food market. Lots of produce and food stalls. A paradise for food lovers!! Tried the scotch tails, dorset scallops, créme caramel and salted honeycomb donut, kanom krok, chicken pad thai. Everything was good!

Yelp
A must visit market when in London... They have a lot of delicious food, drinks, snacks, meats & cheeses... A lot of the shops actually Give you samples, so you can walk around and try a variety of things... I went during the week around the end of August and it was not so busy, I was able to walk around freely... I got the chocolate covered strawberries which were amazing (FYI.. they give you a free sample of it !!!) I also had to try the cheeses , they had so many cheese options and they were all so good... The Market is pretty big, they have an outside patio area with seating where you can sit to enjoy your food and listen to music... Overall, coming to Borough Market was a great experience .. Next time I come to London I will be coming back for some more delicious food.

Yelp
The Borough Market had a ton of food options to choose from but we were there in search of Humble Crumble! There wasn't a long line when we went and our server was kind enough to allow us to try flavors before we made a purchase. This was a delicious sweet treat but I must warn you they are pretty hefty servings, as I wasn't able to finish mine. I liked the overall taste and if I'm ever visit again I'll definitely try a different one. I also liked how the overall market was setup and the benches they had for us to sit at and enjoy our sweet treats.

Yelp
I wanted to experience Borough Market because it's ranked as one of the must-see sights of London. It's known for being one of the oldest markets, so I figured, why not give it a go? We arrived later in the afternoon, after a long flight, probably around 2 PM local time. Unsurprisingly, it was packed. It was so crowded that it felt like we were waddling through shoulder to shoulder, like a bunch of penguins. At one point, I was worried the food I was holding might get knocked over onto someone's back! It might be a good idea to visit the market when it first opens to avoid the rush. There were many food options, and I'm glad we had the chance to explore different items. However, the prices were quite steep for small portions. For example, £5 for a single sea urchin felt excessive. I could understand paying £10 for a plate of paella because of the flavor, but even then, it seemed too high for the portion size. Most of the items we tried were hit or miss. Given the high prices, we had higher expectations for the taste, and I must admit, it was a bit disappointing. I'll post all the items we tried below (though I've forgotten the names of some stalls). I would give the market 3 stars because the overall ambiance was lovely. It was fairly clean, considering the large crowds. There were also plenty of market choices beyond the food stalls, including live entertainment, seating areas, and a range of small businesses. What I enjoyed most was the openness of the market itself. Although the food quality didn't meet my expectations, I might come back on my next trip--hopefully earlier in the day to avoid the afternoon crowds and better food choices.

Yelp
I visited Borough Market while in London after seeing it being recommended from a few sources. It's a huge open-air market with an incredible variety of cuisines. The atmosphere is lively, and the food is delicious--I tried a burger and some scotch eggs, and both were fantastic. However, the market is extremely crowded. Even on a weekday, I found myself pushing through crowds just to get around. It's definitely worth a visit, but maybe not a place I'd go every weekend.
google avatar

Briana N.

Yelp
Markets like these aren't uncommon, but that doesn't make me love borough market any less. Yes, it's always bustling with life, but that just adds to the vibes! Borough market has all the spots you need to satisfy your London cravings. From sausage rolls, to scotch eggs, to meat pies, etc. They also have fresh produce and several other cuisines to choose from. I always make it a point to visit when I'm in town! There are also very few spots to actually sit and eat so everyone is just huddled on the sides or eating wherever. But everything is packaged pretty easily to eat on the go.
google avatar

John A.

Yelp
Outdoor market with amazing scenes, tastes and smells! This is your place to get a sense of the diversity that is the London food scene. Freshly harvested truffles, sausage rolls, BAPs and paella! BAP? Oh -- a large soft bread roll that rumor has it is derived from slang to describe a woman's fullness. I'll let you research that and come back to me.
google avatar

Stacey-Ann M.

Yelp
Listen!!!! This place! Now I see why people say it's a must do when in London. They have everything from artisan delicacies to local fare to international fruits. Come hungry, wear loose pants, comfortable shoes and ready to eat and dine on international cuisine. Also, be prepared for the crowd. It is always packed. I thoroughly enjoyed myself here and I was exhausted after as well.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a great time at Borough Market, it was a lot of fun. Easy to get to via metro or bus. Plenty of options for a quick meal or grocery shopping. Fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, meats etc. The highlight for us was the Paella and Mussels. Very delicious, and fresh made. Have patience as it is very crowded and there can be long lines. There are a handful of bars and restaurants surrounding the market. I would not hesitate to return.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
So. Many. Food. Options. The Mac and Cheese from The Bath Dairy is so cheesy and we added the truffle oil. The Bread Ahead doughnuts and Wright Bros oysters (on separate visits) stole the show. My only issues are the cleanliness, traffic and volume of humans in one space. Just be prepared for crowds unless you go in the morning! Lots of people mean lots of trash and birds.
google avatar

Kali M.

Yelp
I wandered through Borough Market during my brief time visiting London. It was a bit overwhelming and chaotic. I wasn't sure exactly what I was looking for, but just felt like I was wandering aimlessly. If you're an outside visitor, I'd recommend having an idea of what you're looking to try!
google avatar

Marty S.

Yelp
Unbelievable marketplace with unlimited menu selection available. Be ready to pick a cuisine to enjoy without breaking the bank
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
It's ok not special. Food is ok no service to report. Ambiance is an outdoor food court
google avatar

Yelp
Borough Market is the only place I make sure to go to every time I visit London. While it does get crowded and yes while it is touristy, the food is actually great and it never gets old. There's really something for everyone here. One of my all time favorites is the pies from Pieminister (hot Moo & Blue... yum), and this past time I really enjoyed The Best One sandwich from The Black Pig. You can get a huge variety of tasty foods as well as drinks here. Conveniently located to other sites like London Bridge, the Globe, Tate Modern, Thames Riverwalk. Overall, it's just good vibes and my London happy place!

Emily B.

Yelp
Went to Borough Market on a sunny Saturday morning and boy was it an experience! Overall very fun but be prepared for a crowd. In fact, such a crowd that you can barely walk. However, it was still a great time. Lots of amazing food. Wasn't able to try everything but we did have one of the most popular: The Black Pig . Was good, but if there is a crazy line probably not worth it.
google avatar

Lisa E.

Yelp
No words to describe this amazing & unique market not far from the Tate Modern or Shakespeare Globe Theater. Mindboggling array of trendy, IG worthy prepared foods as well as a unique & impressive assortment of fresh produce, meats, cheese, fish etc.. Just an outstanding place to spend a few hours. After circling around a bit, we shared the infamous wild mushroom risotto standing on the side lines in awe. Later on I had a Shish Chicken Shawarma that was decent but not as memorable as the one at Camden Market. Go early !! All covered, so a rainy day is fine. The strawberries covered with liquid chocolate look exactly as they do on social media.
google avatar

Trisha B.

Yelp
This place was great! Walked around to all the shops and bought a lot of spices and teas! We tried a lot of the foods! The chocolate strawberries were yummy! Quite large so one could definitely be shared! Went the Bao and it was 11/10!!! We tried all of the bao buns and the truffle one was the best! It was just hard to find an area it sit!
google avatar

Yelp
Borough market is really not to be missed if you're visiting London. Pro tip: don't follow the signs and go down the stairs. Instead walk a block down and turn right. You'll walk into where the seating for the food is and you won't have to go through the crush of people down the small alley that the arrow points to. We really enjoyed Pie Minster, Raya Grocery, and Ted's Veg. Ted's Veg had fresh blackberries and Raya Grocery had dried mango slices and coconut water. While visiting London (and in general traveling I'd say), I have a really hard time finding whole foods/vegetarian options, so finding a couple shops that had vegetarian/vegan offerings in the market was fantastic. I do wish they had much more seating as it's very oddly laid out and tends to be extremely busy, but otherwise, a definite a must-do, must-eat while in London!
google avatar

Dana Z.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite stops in my trip to London. So many things to see, smell, taste. My main purpose of going was for a sausage roll from The Ginger Pig. It was as amazing as expected. My mom got the viral strawberries and chocolate. I don't know what kind of strawberries we're getting in the US, but I never had strawberries in my entire life taste so sweet. Walking around, I also got some calabrian chile paste from an organic italian stall. Also was intrigued by the oils, spices, teas... and the cannoli stand! If I had one regret it was that I didn't get the pork sandwich that social media hypes up. (I was just too full I would have paid 13 pounds for just a taste.) There's always next time.
google avatar

Marlee B.

Yelp
Every thing and more in one location. The vendor stands were equally awesome from the pallea to the seafood to the cheese to the pastries and further. The early worm gets the worm here if you are looking to beat the crowds.
google avatar

Will D.

Yelp
Favorite place in London . The food, energy, and diversity give it an amazing vibe to enjoy during the day. We all got a different dish to share but I must admit the black pig sandwiches have to be the best I have ever tried. The long lines are a testament to this but they also move impressively fast. The longest line I went to was only 10 mins for some amazing food. Well worth it Please come here with a few hours and try a bit of everything. I have a lot of stuff I have yet to try and I look forward to coming here.
google avatar

Oren R.

Yelp
Super cool place (even though I was sweating buckets cuz it was actually steaming hot out). I was walking around and it was super busy so I ate some strawberries and it was still super busy. Then I had some brisket in a pita and it was 10/10 yumminess. Great place that I would recommend but the bathroom lines were like a gazillion miles long so either go before you get here or on the street or something idk
google avatar

Yelp
The best thing about Borough Market is the food is actually absolutely delicious! There are many a food market in London. Each neighborhood seems to have its own market filled with happy go lucky tourists (like myself) searching for a bite to eat. What stands out about Borough Market in particular is that there are some truly exemplary food stands here. Turnips- yes, you've seen the strawberries on tiktok, but the reality is that they are probably going to be the sweetest strawberries you've ever eaten. Absolutely delicious and honestly worth the hefty price tag. The Black Pig- get the best one. Thank me later. The huge sandwich is packed full of mouthwatering flavors! You'll truly find whatever you're looking for. From Japanese to Italian to sweets and treats, they have it all!

Yelp
Borough Market is a fun open air farmers market that you can explore while in London. They have multiple entrances around the area. Due to the weather in London, the place offers a roof to protect visitors from the rain and elements. Personally I'm not huge on these types of places but my friend raved about it so I had to check them out. The place was a lot larger than I imagined and they have stalls offering all sorts of items. We've seen meats, seafood, coffee, fruits, oils, bakery goods and several restaurants while exploring. I must have missed listing some spots as there was so much to see. There are restrooms (loos) available as well. We were there somewhat early so it wasn't as crowded but when we were leaving, the lines started to form at some stalls and moving around the crowds was a little challenging. My only regret was not getting an order of paella when there wasn't a line. When we came back, the line was extremely long so it wasn't meant to be. It did look legit though. We're happy we did come because we found a Thai food stand called Khanom Krok by a large seating area for people to dine at. Mink was craving Asian food already so we ordered a Pad Kra Pow. Customer service was friendly and they were quick to get our order out. It was delicious! Better than what we've eaten in Hawai'i so must check out if you're craving Thai in the area. Borough Market is a must visit if you're in London.

Yelp
SCW and I walked through the market soon after it opened. It was certainly less crowded than our previous attempt, a Sunday afternoon. We found prepared food, wine, spice shops, olive oil and incredible chocolate. The fresh produce looked really good. Most of the market is covered so you don't need worry much about the London rain/drizzle here. Lots of the food stalls offer plant based options which is really appreciated. The market is fairly easy to navigate as well. Many of the stalls are credit card only, not many take cash. Definitely worth checking out for great food. I'd recommend getting here early as it gets very crowded.

Yelp
Love this place. Note to self always wear stretchy pants. Such a an amazing variety of food. I could have stayed here and eaten all day. Great selection of not just different cuisines, but bakery items, wine and cheese. With so many food vendors the place is kept clean. This place is crowded but every stall we went to service was awesome. If in London, highly recommend this place.

I absolutely loved the borough market. It was on my list but didn't make it here the first London trip. I finally got to stop by but cut it real close to closing time. They close early at like 5p. That's the only thing that sucks. It's a huge market with a lot of vendors. I would've bought and tried everything if I could. They have food vendors and grocery vendors. A lot of cheese! I picked up some tea leaves to bring back home. I wish I did not eat prior to coming to the market so I could've tried one of the food vendors. I did get a cup of the chocolate covered strawberries though. That is highly recommended. It was 8 pounds for a full cup of strawberries and warm chocolate. This is a spot you must stop by while in London.
