Bill Buford called this "a very male tradition," called the Franc Machon. They ate Blanquette de Veau (slowly stewed neck and shoulder of veal with mushrooms served over rice); bread, Beaujolais wine.

I had a great experience at the bouchon in Lyon! The food was delicious, full of authentic local flavor. The interior had a charming and quirky vibe that really added to the atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Lyon! The portions were generous, and everything tasted homemade. I’d gladly come back next time I’m in the city.

The staff were very welcoming, they made a table for us even though we didn’t have a reservation. The food was delicious and also the wine. Totally recommend it!

Loved the vintage vibe of the restaurant. The food was impeccable and authentic. The service was fantastic. Still dreaming of the lyonnaise salad, the quenelle and the praline house cake… chef’s kiss!

The lyonnaise salad was delicious. The pork in the salad was cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed the escargot. Would recommend this place. If we had more time we would go back.

We had a fantastic experience enjoying traditional Lyonnaise dishes at this Bouchon. Although we arrived close to closing time, they were very accommodating. The host was incredibly warm and friendly, taking the time to explain each dish to us in English since the menu was only in French. While the food took a little longer to arrive, it was absolutely worth the wait—each dish was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, made with high-quality, fresh ingredients. 10/10 would recommend the quenelle and roast veal.

Actually perfect food. Everything is cooked flawlessly. Had the poached egg with wine sauce then asked for the menu as I wanted to also have another starter before the main, just to experience more of the food here while in town, knowing I won’t be back too soon. Service is also amazing. Can only praise this restaurant and its staff, as well as atmosphere. Unpretentious and truly delicious.

Bouchon Comptoir Brunet was great! Our meals were delicious. I had the Pork Belly which was well presented and tasted great. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Lyonnaise Salad. The wine list offered good options and we were pleased with our selection. Our service was very good! Great experience overall!

Enjoyed a reasonably good meal if not underwhelming. The poached egg in red wine sauce with bacon and onions was sublime - the combination with the parsley-garlic (raw) coated bread really makes the dish. Lyonnaise sausage with lentils very ordinary and was the slow cooked beef. Not sure why Bourdain came perhaps it’s changed hands since. Frankly with so many good options I would have passed.
