"Bowen House is one of our favorite Dallas date spots, but it works just as well for after-work drinks and casual cheeseburger dinners. The cocktails range from refreshing whiskey highballs to a rich and creamy take on bananas foster. The food leans French, with buttery escargot and steak tartare, but then the menu throws you a surprise club sandwich and cacio e pepe laced with spicy Calabrian chili. Good times come easy here, and everyone knows it, so make a reservation to skip the usual wait." - kevin gray

"It doesn’t get much more beautiful than having cocktails in this converted historic house, which is a legendary space in Uptown. Sit inside with the marble-topped tables and bar, and when the weather is nice, grab a chair on the porch. The cocktail list changes frequently, but the names the staff choose are always hilarious. Recently, those include Bhakta the Future (based on Bhakta 1928 whiskey), Bananas Foster Home (a brandy drink), and Lady & the Tramp Stamp (rum and a whole lot of inexplicable stuff that is probably fabulous). Parking is a beast in this part of town, but more manageable if you come ahead of the dinner rush. Look for street spots and nearby lots." - Courtney E. Smith
"When you’re not ready to live together but still want to enjoy the architectural charms of a historic 1874 home, head to Bowen House. This quaint, wood-frame residence was turned into a cocktail bar about 140 years after it was built, with a handful of seats, a few tables, and a roaring fireplace. It’s dark and intimate, ideal for dates where cozy is more important than fancy. You could sip on ice-cold Japanese highballs, eat one of Dallas’s best cheeseburgers, and call it a night. Or linger over smaller, more shareable items like the housemade potato chips topped with creme fraiche and caviar, if you’re worried the prospect of beef juice running down your arms might kill the romance." - kevin gray
"Bowen House is noted for its cozy and tucked-in ambiance. It features a social patio and is known for its espresso martini and chicken fingers. Often discovered via Instagram." - Courtney E. Smith
