"This warehouse-turned-restaurant has steadily become one of the Westside Beltline’s go-to spots for every scenario, from big parties to impromptu pit spots. If you’re bypassing your 10,000 steps today, walk your eyes over to Boxcar’s extensive beer menu (a 28-draft rotating tap powered by Hop City downstairs) or peruse a sandwich section that includes the cheesesteak-y Butcher’s Bun and the heavenly G.O.A.T. (Greatest Turkey of All Time). Your tummy, not to mention your relaxed feet, will thank you later." - juli horsford, demarco williams, nina reeder, jacinta howard
"You might remember the rows of abandoned warehouses that once stood where Boxcar, the Beltline, and a bevy of new White Street businesses now reside in the West End. The bar’s brick walls and exposed ceilings are subtle nods to the industrial past while a small, lively patio filled with dog and lager lovers reflects the now. This open section of small tables and bar seats only looks onto the parking lot, but still works as a breezy backdrop for a meal. Pair a craft brew from the extensive beer menu (nearly 30 on draft along with a Hop City sister retailer downstairs, too) with the tender cheesesteak-like Butcher’s Bun or a dry-aged cheddar cheeseburger." - nina reeder, demarco williams, juli horsford, jacinta howard
"After taking your Alaskan malamute for a stroll on the Westside Beltline, recharge at Boxcar at Lee + White Complex. The patio has a window-service bar where you can order fruity riesling and plump BBQ wings or crispy fish and chips. All while your dog sniffs around for crumbs near a steady stream of bikers, beer lovers, and scooter riders heading to the Beltline." - jacinta howard, nina reeder, juli horsford
"The best place to sit at this casual American restaurant at the Lee+White Complex in the West End is the long patio with a window-service bar. There’s a full dining room inside but, from the patio, you can take in the full scene: bikers heading for the Beltline trail, chatty groups walking their dogs or chasing after their kids, and friends heading to one of the nearby brewery patios. The American food here is always solid and unfussy, so rely on Boxcar for a fruity riesling or a plate of plump, sticky BBQ wings the next time you want to unwind. Food Rundown video credit: Jacinta Howard Wings The BBQ wings are fried especially well here and have a sticky sweet sauce. But you can't go wrong with lemon pepper, either. They’re plump and crispy with balanced levels of citrus and salt. photo credit: Jacinta Howard Fish and Chips You can hear the crunch when you bite into the fried fish with salty, well-seasoned breading. This is one of the most consistent menu options. Salmon Burger The salmon could use more seasoning, but sauce it up and it’ll be just fine. photo credit: Jacinta Howard Kiddos Chicken Sliders Chicken sliders are on both the kids' menu and regular menus. However, the crispy-skinned sliders on the kids’ menu are nearly the size of a full sandwich. So we understand if you’re tempted to eat off your child's plate." - Jacinta Howard
"Boxcar is the West End’s answer for a relaxed lunch date or BeltLine break. The Lee + White development, as a whole, promotes a chill, dog-friendly environment, and this American kitchen specifically cooks up a menu of unfussy sandwiches and plates that consistently works. The Philly cheesesteak-esque Butcher’s Bun works after a long day at the virtual office. The Livingston burger (dry-aged beef and cheddar on a potato bun) and fries are perfect foods to nibble during a friend’s impromptu venting session on the patio. Oh, and there are nearly 80 drafts on tap to wash all the mess down with." - demarco williams, nina reeder, juli horsford
