How to Spend 24-Hours Eating and Drinking at the Pearl in San Antonio | Eater Austin

"A French-style brasserie suitable for an afternoon espresso, a glass of Champagne, pomme frites, or crème brûlée. The venue has many outdoor tables for people-watching and sits near the drive-up entrance to the historic hotel, making it a good spot to watch arrivals and fashions." - Courtney E. Smith

A Pearl District ode to classic French cooking—escargot, raclette, steak frites—guided by a French‑led team. Regularly recommended by local critics and Eater guides, it’s ideal for a table for two and a bottle of Burgundy.

Drinks are always excellent. The short rib was perfectly tender and flavorful, the oysters were fresh and delicious, and the scallops in that lobster sauce were absolutely out of this world. We came to celebrate a huge milestone, and while I’ve always loved Mom Chou Chou. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio. I was extremely disappointed with the service during this visit. Nonetheless it was still a good experience.

Google
I end up eating very healthy and fresh, the cous cous and the salad was very very nice, for a French place the fries were very normal, and the almond latte was good. However, its been a long time that I haven´t seen such a speciest menu, offering so many different parts of cows and so many different animals, extremely cruel. There is no need to eat tongues from cows not whole snails, the taste does not worth their whole life, not very humane. This type of places should start switching to a more healthy, cruelty-free plant based meals... and reducing or even avoiding serving animals.

Simply outstanding. One of the top French restaurants in San Antonio and overall restaurants in the area. As you expect from French restaurants, this establishment is elegant, refined, and perfectly illustrates the fine dining atmosphere. It’s pricier than some of the other options in the Pearl area, but the service and food quality more than make up for it. You have plenty of French cuisine options to choose along with a very extensive list of local & international wines. It’s close to the river walk (northeast of the north side of the Riverwalk), I would definitely recommend going here.

Situated in the Elegant lap of The Pearl sits this Fine establishment. Food and service were promt, The burger was cook to my liking, flavorful smokey and paired so elegantly with their aoli goes well accompanied by savory crisp fries. I will be back to visit their Escargot.

Google
I took my boyfriend for his birthday brunch. The restaurant was pretty quiet and able to seat us right away when we arrived. Our server was kind and attentive. The steak my boyfriend got was overcooked, which the management was quick to correct and even brought us a complimentary glass of bubbles to enjoy. The level of service is always great. The food is good, but price range is a bit high for what it is.

Andrii G.

Google
The quality of the food, the mastery of combining sauces and ingredients, the presentation — simply at a very high level. Outstanding, incredible. The price is above average. But believe me, it’s worth it if you’re looking for a true culinary experience. The coziness and atmosphere are present as well, though nothing extraordinary — just a clean, well-designed interior. Pleasant, attentive service. World-class food. Highly recommended.

Google
a must on every visit to SA. bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly. they also have been there some time so friendly familiar faces is nice. cold Stella on draft and cold oysters on half shell. tried quite on bit on menu over the years and can honestly say all is good food

My hubby and I love to ride our e-bikes to the Pearl district & eat here on the patio, when it’s nice outside! We love the atmosphere, the service & the yummy food! Our server, Chris, was very friendly & attentive to our needs. This is one of our favorite restaurants!

Yelp
We always have a great dinner here. We stop anytime we pass through San Antonio. The service and food as exceptional. We don't freely give out 5 star reviews. Tonight we did the prix fixe menu. An excellent value for what you are getting. The fish I had (trout) was very fresh and cooked to perfection. If I had a complaint it would be the rice; however, it's the exact texture it would be in France. Ha! It's also pretty dark in here. Makes is cozy but difficult for us "old timers" to Read the menu. Any who - stop here to treat yourself, or for date night. You will Not be disappointed.

Yelp
I was able to try this wonderful restaurant while visiting a friend in San Antonio, and it did not disappoint. The service was spectacular, and the servers were incredibly kind. The steak I ordered was full of flavor, and even though I'm not used to eating fries with steak, it somehow worked perfectly together. We chose to dine outside, and the ambiance and scenery were truly unmatched. Such a great experience all around!

Yelp
Came here for brunch because friends recommended it and sat outside on the patio. They were extremely solicitous of reorienting umbrellas to keep us in shade. Isaiah our server was extremely friendly and helpful. We got the escargot and had to order half a baguette ($3) to soak up all the delicious butter. Baguette was warm and delish like Paris. The omelette was good as with the croque madame. French fries were just OK. But whole experience was a great way to cap off our San Antonio mini-break

Yelp
I tried this place for the first time while a good friend and her family was visiting from Houston. We arrived when they had just opened and it was already crowded. We sat outside and we ordered from the brunch menu. It's a French restaurant (in case the name didn't give it away, lol) so obviously their portions and options will not be typical American brunch options. We ordered a basket of assorted bread with jam to start and eat while we sipped our coffee. To eat I ordered the ravioli and my friend and her son both ordered the smoked salmon. Everything came out at a reasonable time and tasted delicious! Service was wonderful as well. I accidentally forgot my wallet on the table and another server turned it in right away! A huge relief and a whole lot of gratitude for the integrity of the staff here! I will definitely be returning to try their dinner menu!

Yelp
I came here after reading so many great reviews and had pretty high expectations, but the experience didn't quite match them. Several reviews specifically mentioned about the outstanding services, but we unfortunately didn't get that. From the host to the server, none of the staff made us feel welcomed. The host told us the wait would be 30-40 minutes, so I left my name and number. After 45 minutes with no update, I went back to check, and was suddenly told a table could be ready in a couple of minutes -- even though there were open tables both inside and outside. It just felt a bit disorganized. Once seated, our table was very wobbly (the server fixed it quickly), and the food was okay but not memorable. With so many great options in the area, we probably wouldn't return based on this visit.

Yelp
Returning to Mon Chou Chou after a long absence, I returned for this review to find out whether its initial charm had remained, evolved or declined. The verdict? It's a story of two dinners, one shinning with a brasserie authenticity and the other stumbling at the main entrees. Weekends here remain a cold war frenzy. If you make reservations, arrive 15- to 20-minutes early. You will battle to the death on the streets and garages for a parking spot. My wife and I arrived a few minutes late and as we walked in, we were greeted by heavy fish odor. It was extremely off-putting. The hostess took us to our table, spaced a mere foot apart from a four-top. The thought of rubbing elbows with the table next to us, did not make us feel like this was going to be a romantic evening. We quickly and kindly asked the hostess if we could get a patio table, our sanctuary from the first visit. Without any hesitation, the hostess kindly walked us back and was able to get us an outside table. Outside, the magic came right back: cozy iron chairs, inviting umbrellas, and the gentle clink of silverware that felt like a little Paris sidewalk café. But my first moment of joy almost turned into a comedy routine. As I sat in the chair, the leg dropped straight into a missing paver and sent me tipping, almost falling over. I scooted forward slightly and it was not a problem the rest of the time and the patio stayed perfectly charming. The service, given by Lindsey H., was exemplary. She was attentive yet unobtrusive and was extremely knowledgeable with the menu. Two autumnal cocktails, which arrived in a very respectable time, the Amber Harvest and Orchards in the Fall were balanced, aromatic, and perfectly suited the fall/autumn vibes. The chilled crisp evening air made these drinks feel even more festive. The 5 cheese fromage was fantastic and Lindsey's knowledge of each cheese was insightful. The loaf of bread that was served with it was just as wonderful, airy, crispy and soft in the middle. Pulling the bit sized pieces off by hand is as authentic as it gets. The French onion soup was by far the best I've had in a long time. It's hard to find a true French onion soup. Perfect ratio of cheese, baguette, onion, and broth. The color and flavor is textbook. As for the beet salad, I don't care for beets but this was a refreshing, light and earthy dish done well. The beets were soft with a smooth texture. Then, we received our main course. This is where the meal fell short. The coq au vin, though plated nice and good seasoning, the chicken was dry. This shocked me because everything up to this point was truly authentic. This classic French chicken dish is braised in red wine till it's tender, succulent, and fall-off-the-bone moist. And this chicken was definitely not that. Very disappointing as we were excited for this dish to arrive. As for the braised beef short ribs, it was plated very nicely, the beef was tender but lacked seasoning and was kind of bland. "Honestly, the beef short ribs you make at home are better," my wife stated. And I have to humbly agree. Again, disappointed especially for a $48 dish. The mashed potatoes however, were smooth, creamy and fluffy. After a roller coaster of flavors and experience, we were ready for something to lift us up from the main course. The crème brûlée paired with a cappuccino was the perfect ending we needed. The crème brûlée was again textbook. Perfect caramelized crunchy shell with a smooth, light and creamy custard and fresh berries. The cappuccino was delicious with a perfect amount of foam. What a cappuccino should be. It was nice to end on a good note. In sum: Mon Chou Chou remains a convincing replica of a Parisian brasserie in ambiance, service, and the majority of its performance. Cocktails, appetizers, and sweets are flawless; the entrees, regrettably, not as enjoyable this time. Pricing I would say is better or equal to comparable establishments. For those craving a convincing slice of France, the experience justifies the cost, minus the fish aroma and the death trap paver hole. I shall return, but with tempered expectations for the mains and a steadfast preference for the patio. Thank you to the Chef, front of house and back of house for an overall enjoyable evening. Bravo.

Yelp
Mon Chou Chou's Creme Brule came highly recommended from a friend. Mon Chou Chou is located in the Pearl district, close to downtown San Antonio and adjacent to the Emma Hotel (literally a few steps from the Emma hotel). According to the bartender, Mon chou chou is a French term of endearment that loosely translates to my sweetie pie or darling. It is a playful, affectionate term used with children or loved ones such as cutie. The literal translation means cabbage in French. In addition, it is also associated with the term chou à la crème, the cream puff pastry, which is sugary. You could also call someone sugar using the term chou. Mon Chou Chou is very French from the canopy covered tables outside to the display of cheese (fromage) inside the restaurant. The diffused lighting is reminiscent of a French restaurant. Now for the Creme Brule, it had plump and juicy raspberries and blackberries on top along with a nicely seared top. The creme portion was creamy and tasted good. Next time we visit Mon Chou Chou we will try their brunch.

Yelp
We came here because the menu online stated that they had raw East Coast oysters; however, they did not. We ordered the Raclette and escargot. Both were good, but I was set on oysters. Service was good and our server was attentive. It's a cute place at The Pearl with both indoor and outdoor seating. We will give it another try after the holidays!

Yelp
We made a reservation for a special date night during the Christmas holidays. This restaurant is really out of our comfort wheelhouse but we had such a fun time!! Staff were nice!! My husband had the New York strip steak, absolutely one of the best steaks I've ever tasted in my life. Our waiter was spot on. I will say the restaurant is a bit noisy, but everybody there was talking and chatting and having a great time. We had a great experience for our fun date night!!

Yelp
Ok Pearl, and downtown there is a new sheriff in town. What a great meal! From start to finish! Customer service SPOT ON! The cream brulee was magical. Hit the top of it with a spoon to crack the burnt sugar! Pricey? I would argue no for the quality of the meal. Oh God yes we will be back, and back! The last picture says it all!

Yelp
This French bistro is really cute and located in the amazing Pearl district. We came here Valentine's weekend and really enjoyed our experience. It's a wonderful family friendly place. Loved the decor too! We came for brunch. And my husband especially enjoyed the escargot!

Yelp
This past Sunday night was date night for Hubby and me. We were overdue for some alone time and went to @brasseriemonchouchou for dinner. Hubby had the Perfect Thyme and I had the GLS Cadet de Ponty Merlot. We shared the Goat Cheese Salad and the Classique Baguette. Hubby had the Lupe de Mer and I had the Crispy Duck Confit. Both were cooked perfectly. Always a great time @brasseriemonchouchou! The surprising part was when we left Koehler Garage. No longer is there 2 hour free parking! Down to half hour free parking. I guess it's still better than nothing.

Yelp
Brasserie Mon Chou Chou always exceeds my expectations! My husband and I decided to come here for a Valentine's day lunch date, and we had the most amazing time. Since it was Valentines (and a Friday) we decided to make a reservation ahead of time. I know in San Antonio we are not super used to making reservations, but I would highly encouraged it for this restaurant. To share, we decided to order their Sandwich au fromage raclette, which is raclette cheese sandwich on a crisp baguette, and you can include ham if you'd like. This dish always hits the spot and is absolutely delicious! For my main entree I decided to get their "Le Steak" which is a classic 9oz prime steak with fries. The staff recommended to also get the "entrecôte" sauce for the steak, and they were right. The steak was delicious, but when combines with the sauce it was absolutely perfection! Overall, I love this restaurant and I am so happy to see them doing so well!

Yelp
This place has been hyped so much I had to give it a shot. This was an experience all right. Slow lousy service and it was not packed. The location I used to think was great but now it's just insta hyped slop food gimmick "cheese bread" that could cut a gash on the roof of your mouth, A roast that tastes as if it were canned for cats. I was so disappointed everything was subpar and I highly do not recommend. Oh ambiance, yeah it's a neat building and an expensive location. The menu reflects that... if I could find a picture I would place it to prove I had to sit through this load of shit no pretentious words just straight slop.

Yelp
Attended restaurant week lunch on a Friday afternoon. Quickly sat outside with a very attentive waitress. The standout dishes were the bisque and the prickly pear tart. The sweets, as expected did not disappoint. Now for the main course it was good but I have tried so many fabulous restaurants in San Antonio at this point that this one was not up to par to those. Now with that being said it was still good but I expected it to rival other top locations. Would come again but probably for light bites or dessert.

Yelp
The cocktails were fabulous. I got the Time Changes Everything, which had a wonderful thick egg white texture, a smokiness from the mezcal, and a subtle pear/pineapple flavoring. The drinks weren't particularly strong, but they were delicious. We ordered the chariot de fromages with the triple cream blue cheese, truffle brie, and goat cheese. It was paired with honeycomb, candied pecans, cranberries, and a raspberry jam. They were all excellent, I just wish there had been a bit more baguette paired with it. For the main course I had the pavé de saumon. The salmon was cooked medium and just melted in your mouth. The bearnaise sauce was subtle and really let the salmon shine. I was shocked at how great the French fries were! They were crispy, perfectly salted, and had a great flavor. You can tell they use a very good oil to fry them in! Definitely not fast food. Our amazing server Rob brought us a garlic aioli to dip the frites in, which did not disappoint. I got to try the branzino dish with the browned butter sauce-- equally as good as the salmon. So creamy and flavorful. The price point is quite high, so it was great for a special occasion. The interior was very on theme without being corny, beautiful light fixtures, and tiles, warm low lighting...service was top tier, and you get to enjoy the Pearl Brewery to walk off your full belly afterwards!

Yelp
I've been to Mon Chou Chou several times but this is my second time posting a review. We had the usual Raclette Cheese on baquette to start us off. We came with the intention of having a light meal but two of us ended up going with the cheeseburgers which were apparently quite good. I had the salad with warm goat cheese and figs which I thoroughly enjoyed. The other party in our group had the onion soup which was very filling. Service has always been good at Mon Chou Chou. We opted for outdoor sitting this time because the weather called for it. This place never disappoints.

Lisa J.

Yelp
Everything in this restaurant- inside dining, outside dining and every dish and server are all that!!! I love this place.

Yelp
We had a business dinner here on Tuesday and learned so much about this lovely authentically French restaurant. The food including the fantastic baguette was delectable. I had the chicken with amazing frites, a colleague had the muscles which looked and smelled to die for, I tasted the veal which was amazing. Another colleague had a tagline chicken dish, he said it tasted divine. There wasn't one thing that we didn't enjoy including the French Onion soup. The place is beautiful in a lovely location and the service was impeccable. It is really 4.5 stars.

Yelp
I brought my fiance here for his 40th birthday, on a Monday. We went early, arrived about 11:45. When we walked in, there was maybe 3 other tables and the hostess was on the phone staring at the reservation computer. She turned slightly and looked at us and then continued her call. The bartender and 3 other servers we all available, just doing their typical opening duties but NO ONE helped us, just all kept doing their thing. After a good 3 mins one of the servers FINALLY came over and asked if we had been helped. LOL does it look like it?! He sat us down and our server came over quickly. Brought us water (the bottle was dirty) and he did make some recommendations since we had never been there. He was a good server, though the hostess seemed to have sat him 3 more times right after us as he got really busy really fast. The food was pretty good. We had the escargot (delicious), foie gras (a little disappointing, the pineapple sauce overwhelmed the foie gras), the French onion soup (amazing, i will go back just for this, though i received a dirty spoon), and the braised beef short rib (good, but not as good as i was hoping with all the hype ive heard). At the end, our server offered us the "birthday dessert". For being an expensive place, it was so depressing and awful. It was like a creme puff but with ice cream instead of the creme and the pastry was super dry, and absolutely NO flavor. The even worse part?!?! THEY CHARGE YOU $5 for the dessert!! Had i known it was going to be $5, we would have just ordered a dessert off the menu, like the creme brulee. Overall, I give it a 3 due to how we were acknowledged (or lack there of) when we first got there and that awful $5 "birthday dessert". For dropping almost $200 after tip, I was a little unimpressed

Yelp
Another place we visited from out of town. Id say the food was pretty good, a wide selection, but the prices I'd say were a little too pricey for what they give you. The food was good, the service was great, and the ambiance overall was quaint. Just had to take away a star for the prices.
google avatar

Kimberly M.

Yelp
What a great place to gather, converse, and share delicious food. The ambience was warm and inviting. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable to all the menu items. The suggestions were all delicious. We went for a family, special occasion (no one was ever there before) and everything was PERFECT. It's a must try if you haven't and a for sure, we will be back.

Yelp
Want to start off by saying how amazing the service was. I can't remember our servers name but he had brown hair and glasses, super nice. We came on mother's day to celebrate and everyone was so nice & accommodating, they really make you feel welcome. As for the food.. My absolute favorite was the french onion soup. I'm a die hard onion fan so this has always been a favorite soup of mine and they nailed it. The scallops were my second favorite soo good and the presentation was everything. I will say I tried a few things here that was not my cup of tea. Now, I know everything was prepared well so i'm not going to give any less stars because I know other people with different pallets may like it. The escargot had a great flavor I just wasn't obsessed with the texture. The raclette and baguette was not my favorite but I know a lot of people love it. To me, it had a strong bold flavor, was rich and creamy. The unique aroma caught me a little off guard lol. Still glad I tried it. Ambiance was very nice, had good music, felt like I was in the movie ratatouille

Alan G.

Yelp
As usual, the food and service were excellent. The only drawback was the noise. We have been here many, many times and as long as it's not busy, the noise level is acceptable. Once it reaches close to capacity, or you're seated next to a large group, conversation becomes impossible. The fault is in the design, with tile floors and hard wood surfaces. It's an attempt to emulate Parisian cafes and in that it's sort of successful. However, having been in a number of Parisian cafes , none were ever as loud.
google avatar

Quin T.

Yelp
There is no other French restaurant that can compete with Brasserie in San Antonio. Starting with the outdoor decor, as I approached the restaurant, I forgot I was in SA and was instead transported back to my last visit in Paris. While Brasserie does not have chairs to sit out front like they do in Paris, with the heat in SA, that is understandable. Plus, with the location, it would be almost impossible. I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. We came for brunch around 10 and it was not too busy, however, by 11:30-12:00 it was quite packed so I do suggest making reservations which are not hard to get as I made reservations the week of. We started with the Le Parisian and added on a chocolate croissant. We followed that by the escargot, ham & cheese omelette, the raclette as well as the pot de creme. Everything was delicious and our server Reagan was excellent!
google avatar

Angela E.

Yelp
Wonderful service and food! Party of 4. We tried the raclette cheese on baguette with Bayonne ham - delicious! The burgers were amazing. Lastly the crème brûlée and mocha pot were the icing on the cake. Highly recommend! We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Our pick for book club this month. We were able to make reservations which is always appreciated. Parking was $10 in the garage. Service was great, food was great. My entree was huge so you definitely get quantity for the price.

Yelp
I finally got to try Brasserie Mon Chou Chou and loved it!! It was decorated cute for the holidays, very warm and cozy environment. They also have a patio that's nicely arranged and allows you to people watch at The Pearl. Their wine menu is great and everything we ate was amazing! Extremely friendly service. Will definitely be returning again!
google avatar

Yelp
Ate here last night with friends and all were delighted with this place-everything from the decor, gentleman manager, fabulous wait staff, esp. Stephanie, who took care of us, food, beverages, and vibe made for a wonderful outdoor dining experience‼
google avatar

Yelp
Brasserie is a cute place, lovely inside and out. It's enjoyable to eat on the patio when it's not a hot sauna outside. Their food is good quality and very tasty. Service was great too.

Yelp
Great restaurant and super service. Food was delicious and atmosphere was relaxed. Definitely try the escargot here!
google avatar

Yelp
This place could be a steak restaurant! The steak was 10/10, amazing. Atmosphere was cute. Wife loved it. Will be returning for STEAK and dog friendly outdoor seating.
google avatar

Kiran S.

Yelp
This place is so cutely decorated, very warm atmosphere with loads of Christmas decorations for the holiday season. We sat at the bar & got espresso martinis (which are made with kahlua) so it basically ended up being our dessert drink. The gentlemen next to us insisted we try their raclette cheese- so we did & it was delicious! Service was great! Would love to come back!

Megan R.

Yelp
Very memorable meal! We ordered oysters, the sea scallops appetizer and the goat cheese salad. I wish we ordered the higher quantity of sea scallops because they were absolutely incredible and we will be back for them! One of the best dishes we have had in San Antonio. The warm goat cheese salad was also a stand out. It was delicious, and I wish I hadn't shared it, ha! I ordered the steak and fries as my entree and we shared the chocolate caramel coffee pot dessert. Everything was delicious. The service was wonderful, the server was attentive but not overwhelming. I loved the atmosphere, although it was definitely a louder restaurant, we had a great time. I would highly recommend it.

Liz F.

Yelp
I really like this restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely, both indoor and outdoor seating and a nice bar. Especially like the daily lunch specials that are very unique. Service is exceptional

Yelp
06 Jul 2024 We parked on Elmira and walked up to Pearl. Hungry and weren't quite sure what we wanted. We came across Mon Chou Chou, perused the outside menu and went in. I knew it would be good because the mysterious Ryan M. enjoys this place. Ha, ha. Anyway, the husband had the steak and eggs. Comes with bacon and the country potatoes. I had the Parisian omelette (ham and gruyere) . Also served with potatoes and what I call 'good weeds'. He stuck with water, me coffee. The coffee is very reasonably priced at $2.75 and is tasty. Surprising in this day and age because iced tea has hit $4-$5 in some places. Bummer. The steak was perfectly medium, my omelette so pretty and smooth. Neither dish was overly seasoned. Just fine. Husband indulged in the pineapple tart for dessert. Topped with vanilla ice cream. I could only do a couple of bites. If I'd had room, I would have gone with the crème brûlée. My favorite. The server was great. There when needed, pleasant, unobtrusive service. We will be back.

Yelp
Food was amazing and the ambiance was great and the service was pleasant. Now that we checked the boxes lets get to details. The staple appetizer is the fromage raclette. Melted cheese spread onto a baguette at tableside. The cheese was a new flavor for us but it grew on us by the last bite. Recommend it. Also recommend their French onion soup. Deep rich flavors. The St Jacques with the lobster was soooo good. Definitely need to order that one! For main entree the steak was great. Perfectly cooked to medium as I enjoy it. The green sauce it comes with was so good, really added complex flavor. My wife wanted something light so ordered the Mediterranean Couscous dish but be warned it wasn't light! Heavy tomato based soup with root vegetables but really great dish. Leftovers were delicious the next day. For dessert l of course, had to get creme brulee which was as perfect as you'd expect. The service was great as well, very friendly, staff well informed about the menu and had great recommendations. Another big plus was that they make mocktails with actual zero proof liquor so they taste like actual drinks and not just overly sweet fruit juice mocktails like most places! Really appreciated it!

Yelp
I tried this place for brunch and it was so good! We sat outside and I loved the fact there was a light breeze with coverings and umbrellas in case it rained; the best place to people watch coming back and forth from the farmers market. The waitstaff was extremely helpful and hospitable. I got the traditional French omelet with goat cheese, spinach and chives. We also got the Escargots de Bourgogne that comes in a garlic butter sauce with a baguette that I highly recommend. We also got a croissants and bread basket which wax a perfect pairing to our meal.

Yelp
Mon Chou Chou has sentimental value to me (it was my husband's favorite place to get French onion soup), but it's also one of my favorite all-around places for special occasions and regular dinners alike! Service is always on point, as is the food. My favorite dish (besides the French onion soup) is the Bavette steak with entrecote sauce and the steak tartare. Both are solid go-tos, always full of flavor. As far as drinks go, the Pamplemousse Rose is my favorite and their wine list is small, but has something for every wine lover. It's been a while since I've gone to Mon Chou Chou (my son and I went to have dinner to celebrate my love's birthday), so it might be time to return!

Yelp
We picked this place to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. French restaurants are our favorite so wanted to give it a try while in town. It is super bright and airy inside! The decorations suit the restaurant well. The booths were super comfortable. Service was excellent as expected. We asked lots of questions and got some great recommendations. The champagne recommended was fabulous. For food we tried: oysters, the raclette cheese appetizer with bread, and split steak frites. Oysters were fresh. The raclette was incredibly tasty. It was our first time trying raclette. We're from Wisconsin and know cheese, it was incredible! After these appetizers we decided to split our main mean. The steak was sooooo juicy and flavorful. Couldn't have been any better. Fries were perfect as well. So glad my husband talked me into trying an espresso martini and the coffee dessert! As far as the martini, it wasn't the best one I've ever had but it was above average! Everything you'd expect from one. The desert was like chocolate pudding either a slight coffee taste. Amazing! Will definitely come back when we're in town :)

Yelp
Fun lil bistro pronounced "Mone shoo shoo" (phonetic spelling) meaning my favorite. Well, this quite possibly could become my favorite respite on a hot day walking around the Pearl District. A must try. Check it out.

Yelp
The food here is amazing. We came for brunch but I needed to try the Raclette and it was delicious. We were well taken care of by the staff as soon as we stopped through the front door. The restaurant definitely has a Parisian vibe. I can't wait to come back for dinner.

Yelp
We came here last weekend to celebrate our 7th year wedding anniversary. Initially I reserved a 12 noon reservations for a table for two persons , but I had to move it at 1pm due to the heavy traffic and road closures . We were curious about the fromage raclette and we ordered this as our appetizer . It was worth the experience as the cheese was one of the most delicious and flavorful we tasted . I ordered the Salmon with trout eggs and hubby ordered the Le Steak as per recommendations of our service attendant , they all were flavorful . Service was on point and they gave us a complimentary glass of sparkling wine for the special occasion we were celebrating . Then lastly we ordered the Profiteroles . It was so yummy and rich and a good way to end our special meal . We will definitely come back and thank you for the little details that made our anniversary special .

Yelp
Such a cool restaurant with amazing interior design and atmosphere. Great patio as well. Food is wonderful and this place is great to take a larger party. Would recommend having a reservation for dinner but lunch time you shouldn't need one

Yelp
We had a reservation for 2 at 10 AM, right when the restaurant opened. We were the only ones there, yet were seated in a cramped corner next to a filthy wall. It didn't feel like a welcoming start, so we kindly asked to be moved to a different table. The hostess was sweet and said she would check. But across the empty restaurant, we could clearly hear a brunette laughing and saying, "They can go sit outside." Moments later, the hostess returned and apologized, saying all other tables were reserved--despite the entire place being empty. We left and went across the way to Supper, where the customer service was fantastic and the atmosphere far more inviting. Very glad we made the switch.

Yelp
I went to Mon Chou Chou twice in one week, since I was only in San Antonio for a few days. The first visit, I was so mesmerized by the food and all the amazing flavors I did not even think of taking pictures! Here is a summary of both visits: * Monday dinner - was very intimate, not too busy, quiet with just a hint of French music playing. My friend and I wanted to make the most of it, so we ordered a few things to share: charcuterie plate (highly recommend), Ravioles Gratinee (to die for), the mushroom risotto (was a bit soupy for my taste, but good), and then a bunch of sides: green beans, fries, lentils and cauliflower gratin - all absolutely delicious! I was full, so no dessert for me, but my friend got the Creme Brûlée and said it was amazing! *Wednesday dinner: completely different ambiance! It was popping and loud, full of people clearly enjoying themselves and their food! My group was quite unfamiliar with French food, so I suggested a few things to start. Assiette de fromages (7 different cheeses), served with baguette and French butter! Everyone enjoyed it, and personally I was in Heaven! Then for the meals, 3 got the duck, 2 got the fish, 1 got the Braised Beef cheeks and I got the chicken Cordon Bleu! We also got a few sides to share. My dish was delightful and transported me back home after just the first bite! Fries were perfection again. I had to skip on dessert because I was too full, but the few who got some really enjoyed it! Definitely worth adding to your list of restaurants to try if you have not done so already. Additional Note: I know one of the chefs and he is one of the best!

Yelp
I liked the ambiance of this place but it wasn't the best food I've ever had . I tried the radish salad roasted vegetables and couscous . It needed salt . This was in the pearl area which everyone raved about . I think if I would have ordered a meal with cheese I would have been more happy . The dishes I saw come out were beautifully plated as well as mine . They had doilies under everything and match sticks at the front . Paper coasters . My couscous came out in a pretty pot with a lid . My husband had eggs Benedict . He said it was good but had better . The server was friendly and did a good job . I wish they would have sat us away from other people . The whole restaurant was open and they sat everyone on top of each other , you were pretty much sharing a table. I felt uncomfortable talking .

Yelp
If you want to feel boujee or have a girls night this is the place to go. Wear your beret or strip shirt and head your way for a cocktail or two. The drinks are really strong. One lychee martini gave me a buzz but then again I became a light weight. I'm obsess with mushroom and they had a season mushroom tart? It was so good. Don't get scared of all the French names. My Mexican self was trying to pronounce it. Lots of couples go but honestly it's a nice place to go by yourself. Power move! My friend always gets the steak, it's huge! Like the portions are honestly not that bad I'm always full. On menu it doesn't seem like a lot but it kinda is. All the deserts are good but my favorite one so far was the chocolate one with caramel. I'll put a pic. Mocha something
