The 38 Best Restaurants in Dublin, Ireland | Eater

"Every city needs a destination bakery like Bread 41, a place that doesn’t just produce great sourdough but takes pure pleasure in surprising customers with creative, exciting pastries. Eoin Cluskey’s café, which is tucked under a railway bridge, puts sustainability at its core, holding a coveted B Corp certification. Must-try dish: Among the rotating list of specials, the kimchi fritter is likely to be the big hit of any meal." - Corinna Hardgrave

I Spent Less Than 2 Days in Dublin and I Ate at Bread 41 Bakery 3 Times | Bon Appétit

"A bakery outpost of Bread Nation run by baker Eoin Cluskey, opened last September and devoted to top-quality bread made the old-fashioned way using long-fermented sourdough, organic ancient grains, and house-milled flour. Breads often sell out early (it was gone by noon the day the reviewer first visited), but consolation pastries are excellent — a salted chocolate chip cookie made with spelt and large chocolate discs and a salted-caramel croissant famously the size of a baby’s head. Standout loaves include a cranberry-and-poppyseed sourdough and a miso einkorn loaf with a dark, crunchy crust, moist chewy center, and a subtle miso kick; there’s also an oat porridge loaf made with roasted oatmeal that merited being packed for the plane. Savory items are thoughtful too: a loose but satisfying chicken banh mi built on pillowy housemade milk bread with house-fermented carrots. Pretty danishes and a malted loaf also caught the reviewer’s eye, and the overall experience was so compelling that she broke her usual no-repeat rule and returned within 24 hours." - ByMeryl Rothstein

We came here with the hope of having some great pastries. Unfortunately we found them not as good as expected. Probably it was a matter of personal taste, but both the cinnamon roll and the chocolate thing we tried were good but nothing extraordinary. On the other hand, we bought a large sourdough bread which was great! For bread I definitely recommend this place! For pastries maybe you will find them better that we did. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere is quite nice. Overall it’s a good place for breakfast!

Google
Absolutely delicious croissants, we got the ham and cheese and the chocolate! So many other good looking pastries and breads. Excellent coffee with environment friendly reusable takeaway cups to purchase. Cute place and friendly staff thank you!

Google
There is a line out the door every day for good reason. The pastries are top-notch, particularly the cinnamon scroll and cheese&onion tartlet. I recommend getting there earlier rather than later as they will likely sell out of at least a few items. There’s a decent number of tables but due to just the sheer number of customers in line it can the difficult to get a seat. Lovely atmosphere, you can really taste the care they put into all the fresh-baked goods.

One of the flakiest croissants I’ve had. We tried the savory croissant with potatoes, the chocolate one and the almond croissant. The drinks were creamy and well made too. A great place for all things bread and baked.

Google
Went for coffee, a croissant and a cruffin. Cruffin was amazing, didn't expect it to be loaded with an chocolate custard but dang I'm pleased that it was. Saw there was an option to get a savory twice baked croissant loaded with cheese and ham, and glad we did. Croissants were buttery and flaky in the best way possible. Service was good, bringing things out promptly. Could tell it was a bit of a trendy place, because the line wrapped around the counter when we got there and didn't go down while we ate!

My wife and I came in for breakfast 3/6 days in Dublin as it is just around the corner of our hotel. The pastries and breads are great here! Their coffee is pretty good as well, but unfortunately this morning (4/25/2025), they were having some electrical issues, so not coffee was available. The employees were very apologetic about not having coffee available. Bread 41 has a cool coffee shop vibe and we will miss coming in for breakfast in the morning as this is our last visit before flying home.

Google
There’s something about bread41 that makes me want to come back again and again. I know the queue here is crazyy and I wouldn’t say the best coffee too, but their bread is just luscious and rich and when you try them you know it’s Bread 41. It’s bread like no other. It’s not airy and light, in fact it’s heavy and loaded and crisp! every bite has a weight to it and very filling. and I want to special mention the almond croissant- one of the best in town! there’s no strong almond extract flavor (which I don’t like!). I am very picky of my almond pastries because of the strong almond extract flavor but this one is just real almonds! and not only that, it’s so good too!

Google
This spot is absolutely worth a visit: the flavors are top-notch, and the atmosphere is lovely. Just a heads-up – the portions are generous, and I mean really generous. After breakfast here, I didn’t even think about food for the rest of the day. The almond croissant? A dream. Flaky, tender pastry with a rich, creamy filling – they don’t skimp, and I’m not complaining. The sausage roll was also super tasty and seriously hearty – it felt more like brunch and lunch in one. if you’re coming with a friend, order one dish to share so you can try more things without going into a food coma. If you’re flying solo, make sure you arrive very hungry 😅 Bottom line: tasty, a bit on the greasy side for my taste, but absolutely satisfying. Perfect for a weekend treat or foodie hangout with friends. Would definitely come back! ❤️

Yelp
This organic bakery gained all the fame and hype real quick. With long lines almost always. Selling out quick. I had to try it. And boy oh boy, the croissant was probably the best I've ever had. Hands down best in Dublin. The layers of the croissant were extensive, rich and filling, flaky yet chewy and buttery. Absolutely delicious. I also tried their Rye Chocolate Chip cookie either sea salt. Great mixture, I liked the cookie and the fact that they used rye, and sea salt, which added a balanced and nice flavors. But since I identify as a Cookie Monster lol I gotta say, not the best cookie, I don't see myself getting it again. Moreover, their morning bun, tasted like sweet cinnamon breakfast in a bun, so strange but it was nice. Finally, I tried their cinnamon bun with cookie crumble. They really know how to perfect that croissant dough for sure. Do I recommend it? And does it live up to hype? YES!!!! This place AND Bread Naturally in Raheny are my go too's. Both are great in different ways. I'll be going back to try their bread and coffee, can't wait!

Yelp
God this place is good. They have a solid variety of flavors - tahini to rhubarb to chocolate. The bostock wasn't the best I've had but I don't even care. The rhubarb pistachio pastry is delicious, the sausage rolls are fabulous, flat whites are smooth, and the lemon custardo (& cruffin) are to die for. There will be a line out the door on the weekend but it's worth it. It's very crowded with limited seating, so you might have to eat outside.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic bakery. The focaccia that I had was genuinely the best focaccia I've ever had (and I've had some good focaccia), it had butternut squash on top that was just divine. Nice interior, lots of seating, great staff. Went back on a Sunday and the selection was a bit wiped out (still lots of options, just not nearly as much as a weekday), so I recommend stopping in early on a week day to snag the very best stuff. The secret is out about Bread 41, so expect a line (it'll move fast). The focaccia pictured is the focaccia I got on my second visit (still very good, but more pizza than traditional focaccia). If they have butternut squash focaccia--get it!

Yelp
Ambience: 1/1 Service: 0.5/1 Food: 3/3 If you love sweets and pastries, Bread 41 is the place for you! I was staying at a hotel nearby and wanted a snack, and the line was so long it went out the door. However the wait was worth it because when we got to the front I felt like a kid in a candy store - everything looked so delicious! I have to give 0.5/1 for service on my rating scale though because while I appreciate how busy they were having to keep up with so many customers, I had allergies and when I asked about if some pastries had nuts in them they weren't able to answer. Nonetheless, I took the risk (fortunately I'm not deathly allergic, I would have just been quite uncomfortable) and got some that looked nut-free. And wow they were so absolutely delicious! I would love to come back and try some more if I'm ever back in Dublin! I would 100% recommend stopping by if you get the chance!

Yelp
Looking for a Cafe and Bakery in Dublin? Look no further. Handmade french style with clever twists. Very fresh. Bespoke coffee and tea Service is order at counter with a fast moving queue.
google avatar

Leah B.

Yelp
Worth the wait in line. Croissants, pain au chocolate, cinnamon roll and a "cruffin?" And coffee. The pastries were flaky, generous and if you closed your eyes while taking a bite, you are transported to France. To go coffees are served in a 5 quid reusable cup that you can redeem next time you're there.

Yelp
This popular bakery is nearby our hotel, and no matter the hour there seemed to be a line out the door for their wares. On the last day in Dublin, we decided to go early to pick up breakfast and luckily there was no line. Their pastries and breads are laid out like jewels behind glass, so it is definitely a lovely experience for the senses. We got an almond croissant and a cinnamon roll to share with our hotel coffee. I particularly liked the icing on the cinnamon roll as they used some type of sour cream topping versus the usual sugar icing. It made such a big difference to the taste and was perfect for breakfast. Now I want that topping on all my cinnamon rolls. The almond croissant was also great, lovely texture and plenty of almonds. I wish we had more mornings to try more pastries.

Yelp
The que out the front door tells the story. Bread 41 offers a wide variety of baked goods of high quality, coffee and teas. I was particularly interested on one occasion in their offering of a couple of savory pastries with interesting flavor combinations. The cheese and chutney croissant didn't disappoint. On a busy day finding a table to sit isn't easy.

Yelp
Bread 41 is an absolute MUST when you're in Dublin! We stopped in mid October and the cafe was the perfect vibe for fall, super cozy. Be sure to book a table for upstairs if you want to sample their delicious brunch menu. The staff was so sweet, very lovely and helpful with suggestions. The pressed potatoes with poached eggs and chimichurri was the absolute star of the show for me. The texture with the added crunch of the almonds was absolutely divine. The sourdough was out of this world. I wish I could've tried a bite of every single pastry they had on display. That's my mission for next trip. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Everything we ordered was delicious - particularly the morning bun - staff was helpful and efficient. Fantastic!

Yelp
I had read about Bread 41 and decided I would try it on my recent trip to Dublin. One day I was walking around and nearby and decided to try Bread 41. As I approached the bakery, I saw long line of people waiting to get in and order. Now for some context - I had just come from NYC and had a somewhat negative experience waiting in line at a well-know bagel shop, only to be disappointed, so naturally I had the same thought - is this place all hype and in the end not any better than other bakeries in the area? Not wanting to take a chance, I decided not to wait. Fast forward a couple of days - I decided I would go the route of dining at the Cafe - only to be disappointed as there were no times available. And keep in mind the cafe is only open Friday through Sunday. Well, now I was determined to try this place and kept checking the reservations. As luck has it, a spot opened up! Long and short - this place LIVES up to the HYPE! I decided I would be a bit decadent to start and had one of their breakfast pastries and a cappuccino. OMG - it was divine. The pastry so light and flaky and just the right amount of sweetness. I am sure if I lived in Dublin I would weigh a ton as I would be at the bakery everyday overindulging. I had such a hard time deciding on my main course. My server was fabulous and helped guide me through the menu. For my main course I ended up with the Mushrooms on Toast - Mixed wild mushrooms, mushroom ketchup, seasonal pesto, smoked almonds, fried egg, Hegartys cheese on pan fried toast. At first I thought - wow - there is alot going on with this plate. Sometimes I find chefs do too much when constructing a plate, but not in this case. It was a delicious blend of textures and flavors. I'd order the dish again in a heartbeat. My only complaint - and I experience this in other restaurants - I prefer my egg a little less done, where the yolk is a bit runny, creating what I call natures gravy. Service was great - attentive, yet not overbearing, helpful and super friendly. If you're in Dublin, make the effort and visit Bread 41! Helpful Hints: - You need to make a reservation. I saw so many people turned away as they were booked. - There is a side door for the cafe upstairs so that you don't have to fight the crowds in the bakery. - Come hungry! And take a box of pastries to go.

Yelp
Bread 41 was our very first stop upon arriving in Dublin after our long flight from the US, and it did not disappoint! When we arrived it was busy with a line practically out the door. There were so many pastries to choose from but I decided to go with the morning bun which looked a bit like a sugary cronut. My partner ordered one as well along with a flat white and a sausage roll. The pastries were some of the very best I've ever had! In fact one of my biggest regrets of our whole two week trip in Ireland was not visiting Bread 41 again before leaving. The morning bun was so perfectly flakey and sweet, and the sausage roll was savory with a hint of sweetness. My partner enjoyed his flat white and we left feeling extremely satisfied and ready to explore Dublin for the day.

Yelp
Delicious. 4+ I had what looked like a Portuguese egg tart and another pastry called "salted" something, which was kinda like a Kouign Amann. Both were delicious. The egg tart (I think it was called custard something) was not exactly like a Portuguese egg tart. The custard was eggy and the perfect level of sweetness. The salted something had awesome texture. It was crunchy and sticky on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Very buttery and slightly salty. Overall, really good.

Yelp
We stumbled into this place after a red eye flight and a short walk. Run here! The pastries were amazing. The lattes were delicious. The service was professional and efficient. The ambience had an open working city cafe feel. There were both larger and smaller tables. The bathroom clean. I don't think there was no wifi. I wish we had bought a loaf of bread for later, they looked amazing. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This was one of the highlight places we ate while in Dublin! It was so good we even came back 2 mornings in a row to get take away items for our drive to the next city. The first visit we ate upstairs in the restaurant. Most people in the group had the opened face breakfast sandwich and I had the Benedict. Everything was delicious including the coffee. After breakfast, we went downstairs and left with a bag full of goodies! In my opinion, the cruffin being the highlight. The following morning, we went back for the baked goods. We left with 3-4 bags full including a loaf of country sourdough that was incredible! I would definitely recommend for breakfast or a quick pastry to go!

Yelp
Sausage roll and breads are great. Find the dessert too heavy. The vibe is always good. It's buzzing. You have to stand in a line to order. It's always crowded.
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
Good coffeehouse with a great bakery. Be ready for a long queue, but it moves quickly. A great start to the day!
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
Extremely tasty sausage rolls and friendly employees! Only downside is that they did not have ice for iced drinks and they menu online did not reflect what was available in the shop. I saw breakfast sandwiches on their online menu but they did not serve these.
google avatar

Christiane M.

Yelp
delish. i love a savory pastry and esp one that doesn't have meat, so many more options i need to try
google avatar

Brian P.

Yelp
I could not believe the quality of the pastries. I bought so many different ones to try and they were all great. I wish we had one of these in NY.
google avatar

Shenea W.

Yelp
Best pastry in Dublin. If you're looking for that flaky deliciousness, then look no further. I had the plain croissant and the lemon curd pastry, both living up to every expectation. My husband had the chocolate croissant and agreed.
google avatar

Corey C.

Yelp
This place was perfect afternoon pick me up on my Irish get away. 11/10 would recommend

Laureen P.

Yelp
The pastries are delicious and fresh. Even though there was a line up, we were served rather quickly with a smile. Highly recommended! Love the seating style with extra tables upstairs.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
Made a reservation for brunch in the upstairs area (they have online reservations, you submit time request and then a confirmation of specific time is emailed). There is also seating downstairs near the walk up bakery case but super packed as soon as the doors open and those areas do not look like you can reserve. Upstairs service was great, we had the open faced breakfast sandwich (good), mushrooms on toast (very good) although I wish the egg were over easy vs over medium, and the French toast (outstanding, berry compote with raisin brioche - don't know if I could eat a whole order but def worth the order for the bites I had). You can order items from the bakery case downstairs at your table and bypass the line. We had the pumpkin cruffin at the table (delish) and ordered the salted caramel knot and custard tart to go. Kouign Amann weren't ready yet (not available until closer to 11am typically) so that will have to wait until next visit. Looks like can you can also place online orders for pickup and avoid the line that way as well. Overall highly recommend!
google avatar

Tiffany F.

Yelp
Visited during the weekend and the lines were out of the door. Once we got in we were greeted by a beautiful display of pastries and it was very hard to make a choice. One thing to note is that they do not make sandwiches during the weekend . I loved the salted caramel kouign Amann and the praline cruffin was quite good. I did not like the sausage roll but I could tell it was good quality , it was just not a flavor I would gravitate towards. The surprise was the brownie tahini cookie sandwich , it was so rich and decadent. I literally had to slice it and have a tiny piece through the day . I wish I could replicate it

Yelp
Must visit if you are in Dublin. One of the best bakery's I have ever been to and I have spent a significant amount of time in France. This place is incredible. Don't miss out!!
google avatar

Y C.

Yelp
The lack of hygiene is a concern. The food is good, as good as a grocery store croissant. The place is very messy and crowded, probably good PR.

D W.

Yelp
Amazing bread loaves and baguettes. Tried the oat and the malt sourdough. Also got an assortment of pastries for the family. Everything was so very good. Definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Logan B.

Yelp
The passion for the craft is evident as soon as you walk in the door. We shared a sausage roll, a cinnamon scroll, and a croffin (which was new to me). All excellent. All clearly made with love and top notch ingredients. One of the best bakeries I've ever been to, anywhere in the world. 10/10 would go back.
google avatar

Nina L.

Yelp
Stopped in yesterday for a mini sampler- have not gotten over the Morning Bun or lemon curd pastry. Simply outstanding. The raspberry muffin type thing was messy and delicious. Tried the pesto/mozzarella pizza it was ok. The bakery items are the real winners here. May stop on again for a croissant and or an egg sandwich. Yum yum yum!

Grace C.

Yelp
When I say the pastries are unreal here I mean it! My husband and I had to hit up bread 41 every morning during our stay in Dublin. From the coffee to the cinnamon scroll everything was delicious. Highly recommend for a quick bite!
google avatar

Jim W.

Yelp
What a jewel and open early! Best variety of breads, pastry and do not miss out on their freshly baked sausage rolls!! Coffee is to die for!

Anna K.

Yelp
Delicious! Get here early and enjoy some delicious coffee and warm baked treats -- there's a line that forms around 8am onwards. There are both sweet and savory flaky treats
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
Top notch bakery here. Everything we tried was scrumptious. I forgot to take pictures before we ate, so all that's left are dirty dishes. The only thing they could do to make this better is to have free internet service for their customers.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
This place should be called Bread Heaven! Came here for breakfast one Friday morning and the place was hopping. Tried the cinnamon walnut rye and it was delicious. They're serving great coffee. Bought some cruffins (croissant and muffin) and sourdough to bring home. Everything is super. Simply put. You've got to try here!!
google avatar

Liz R.

Yelp
It was hard to finally get into this new cafe because the queues have been out the door. When I finally got to visit a few weeks after opening, I had heard some mixed reviews already: the pastry is delicious but the salads are awful; the staff is friendly but the service is slow. Those reviews are pretty accurate. I went in and had the lunch special (a bed of roasted corn, chorizo topped with a fried egg and some creme fraiche and a chunk of bread on the side) and grabbed a lemon meringue cruffin, as well. Staff was super-friendly, helpful and patient while myself and a pal decided our order. Unfortunately, it took nearly 25 minutes to get my food -- my lunch date finished her whole salad by the time it arrived at the table. No real apology for the wait; just plonked down in front of me. The lunch special was, however, amazing and I ate every bit of it. My friend didn't enjoy her salad quite as much but said it was satisfactory. The cruffin was also excellent, as was my friend's almond croissant. Over all, a good place to have lunch. It would definitely work out the kinks with time but should look a bit more into customer service so it can become a favourite spot.
google avatar

Sean G.

Yelp
With Beead in the title it would want to be great and to be fair their bread is outstanding with some pretty tasty sweet treats. Only had takeaway but its busy for breakfast and brunch.

Eileen K.

Yelp
My son brought me home a rhubarb and custard 'bun' today from Bread 41, it was so, so nice, I truly enjoyed it, will definitely pay a visit for more, well done.
google avatar

Brendan W.

Yelp
Second visit and still really slow service. As I was in a hurry I ordered the Soup Special. Not very busy, lots of staff standing around. Had to leave after 20 minutes as I could not wait any longer for them to bring out the soup
google avatar

Kevin W.

Yelp
I popped in to this cosy cafe / bakery and you can tell immediately it was run with love and passion. The muffins I got for our office breakfast went down an absolute treat and personally I loved the key lime pie one. You can tell it is freshly made and not some large batch mass produced conveyor belt pastry. It's real, it tastes fresh and it looks as great as it tastes. I have to come back for lunch one day as the sandwiches that I saw looked good and are fairly priced. Highly highly recommend.
google avatar

Joe S.

Yelp
As a Criminal Defense Attorney, I eat more pastry and drink more coffee than most. And this bakery and cafe is now at the top of the list. Great croissants, coffee and a friendly, knowledgeable staff makes this a 'go to' when you're winding a up a day of sightseeing and window shopping.! JoeS.
google avatar

Enda C.

Yelp
Great coffee and the best almond croissants that I've ever had. Bought a sourdough loaf that was really good. We'll be back and buying bread.

Harlan W.

Yelp
Wow. If you want some butter ladened rich freshly baked pastries, this is your place! Dee-lish. You'll wait in a socially distant line outside (rain, sun or shine) awaiting your turn to order, pay and enjoy. The good thing is, these good lookin' beauties are on display in the window to browse with their names while approaching the conga line! Surely they have some equally good quality coffee to accompany your croissant or pastry? Just minutes walking from College on the Green. Recommend.

K T.

Yelp
Wonderful place. Their toast and butter breakfast is not to be missed. As a baker, I know that this is quality baking and the pastries are wonderful. At there three times during our week vacation in Dublin.
