Best Food and Drink Rodeo Deals in Houston | Eater Houston

"To balance some of the heavier rodeo-season indulgences, Bread Zeppelin introduced produce-laden alternatives: a vegetable medley of carrots, corn salad, and kale slaw tossed with tender brisket and finished with a sauce of your choice, and—if you opt for Zeppelin-style—stuffed into a cored warm baguette; the Rodeo brisket Zeppelin and brisket bowls are available through March." - Kayla Stewart

Chef Dominick Lee Previews ‘Progressive Creole’ Menu for Houstonians | Eater Houston

"The Dallas-born salad chain is serving produce-forward options at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo through March, offering a Rodeo brisket bowl and a Rodeo brisket Zeppelin. Both feature a veggie mix of carrots, corn salad, and kale slaw tossed with tender brisket and finished with a sauce of choice; the Zeppelin version is stuffed into a cored warm baguette as a lighter alternative to heavier fair fare." - Kayla Stewart

Google
I got the autumn harvest bowl and it did not disappoint. Similar to the sweet green one, this was hearty, filling, healthy, and balanced. This price was more reasonable than sweet green too.

We ordered from here today, first time have never heard of this place before. Ordered lunch to be delivered for 6 people. Our order was made and delivered pretty quickly. Everything was packaged good, nothing spilled or messed up. All orders were correct nothing missing. Everything look fresh and everyone enjoyed their meal. I ordered the Lone Star Zeppelin. A different concept of having it in bread instead of a bowl. However you have that option, bread or bowl. I had to try it in bread. It was very good and fresh, even the bread, no issues. All ingredients were pretty even throughout the whole sandwich. I would definitely eat here again.

Google
Did an online order for pickup. Probably the best customer service I have had in a while. While waiting I had 3 workers approach me asking if I had been helped. Cashiers all seemed like they enjoyed working there.

Google
I love that they use the guts of the baguettes that they make the Zepplins from to make their bread pudding. The NOLA sandwich was great as was the bread pudding. Just a note that the bread pudding is about the size of a small tart, but it’s also only like $2.50, so get a couple. Yum!

Google
Grabbed lunch with my coworker, the salad was filling , had some leftover for dinner too! Loved everything about it but removed the cotija cheese!!

Melanie J.

Google
Soooooo good. This is no ordinary sandwhich, So much flavor stuffed into each baquette! You really gotta try it. And they have tasty fountain drinks, loved the guava lemonade.

Google
%1000 the best place I have eaten in a long time. I am going to eat here anytime I can.

Google
Very disappointed...3 things went wrong..I had to walk back inside 3x before my order was correct. 1) online order to be ready at 1:22. Got there at 1:25. Explained to the lady who is the mgr, that I was illegally parked. She walked away while "shushing" me off with her hand & saying "we are getting it ready now". I went back to my car to wait a few mins. 2) went back inside & was handed my bag. Walked to my car & checked my bag...my zepplin sandwich was missing. 3) walked back inside & was handed my sandwich. 4)had to walk back inside a 3rd time because the grilled chicken was missing from my salad. You can clearly see how the chicken is not tossed in because they had to add it. And the romaine lettuce is not fresh at all. $27 spent for a disappointing lunch for 2

Yelp
Basing this review on my takeout order while staying in Dallas. Ordering was seamless from the website and I couldn't wait to see what was coming for dinner. The concept is take a salad and stuff it into a hallowed out French baguette. It's not a sandwich or a salad, and now even a wrap. The bread itself was actually well baked and I got the Cobb but instead of blue cheese I replace it with cheddar. It may not be much to take a pic of but it was delicious. Not too much dressing either. I could get behind a place like this in NY.
google avatar

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
Ordering is so easy in the app and the bread is still fresh and warm when you pick it up. The salad inside the zeppelin is also so refreshing and filling.
google avatar

Yelp
First bread zeppelin experience not bad not good. Workers were mean as hell not gonna lie. 0 assistance trying to learn this new freaky menu with the stuff bread idk man just giving me attitude not cool. Food was good tho, wished it was warm but it's a salad I get it im just a hater.
google avatar

Yelp
I've had soup in a bread bowl, but I've never had a salad in a bread bowl. They delivered and it was delicious.
google avatar

Remi W.

Yelp
Very fun concept and very tasty! We ordered from her as part of a business lunch and it was a great experience. We got everything we ordered and had plenty of napkins and utensils. Everyone's item came labeled with their name on it which made for a great and easy experience! Will definitely order from here again!

Yelp
I wasn't sure what to expect, but this place is really fantastic. I look forward to seeing one in the San Antonio area. Organized service and great salads. My wife said it was the best Greek salad she'd had in years. I had the Emma zeppelin and couldn't get over the freshness of the bread.
google avatar

Jana S.

Yelp
How can Bread Zeppelin advertise themselves as vegetarian friendly when you offer ZERO vegetarian options not counting the "build your own"? There should be AT LEAST 1 salad listed that is vegetarian OR a no meat option for a lower cost should be listed for each salad. I should not have to "build my own salad" or pay for meat and leave it out. That's ridiculous! It's 2024, not 1970. Get with the times!
google avatar

Christine J.

Yelp
So cute and great concept I loved it! I got the buffalo chicken one which was really good but would recommend less blue cheese

Hagai H.

Yelp
Great food, great service. The zeppelin bread is wonderful, and the whole concept is really smart. The menu has many options (including build-your-own salad or zeppelin), but some are marked as "first time favorites", which makes the decision making easy. All items can be made vegetarian. The mills are prepared very quickly.

Yelp
Great spot for a quick healthy lunch. The sandwiches have the perfect bread to meat/stuff ratio. The service could have been better with just a little personality.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
What isn't to love - salad AND bread! Great lunch spot. You can probably have 2 meals in one here but needless to say you won't be hungry.

Yelp
Very healthy food with a great taste. Enjoyed our dining experience. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Food was really good, loved the bread so good. Great place for a healthy lunch. I got the harvest salad sandwich. Received it DoorDash,

Yelp
Stopped by Bread Zeppelin with my husband and a few friends before a comedy show down the street at the Majestic and enjoyed my zeppelin a lot. I'd been curious to try this chain for a while and I'm glad I was finally able to stop by. As a first timer, I opted to get the southwest zeppelin with steak as well as the potato and leek soup; my husband got the pacific beach zeppelin with shrimp and the broccoli cheddar soup, and we split a bread pudding. I really enjoyed the southwest zeppelin! The creaminess of all the other ingredients contrasting with the crunch of the salad and the crisp yet soft bread shell was great. All the ingredients tasted super fresh and I was really impressed at how the structural integrity of the zeppelin held up throughout each bite. The steak was also really delicious, and the potato leek soup was excellent and flavorful. The pacific beach was a bit tart for our taste, but they were generous with the shrimp which was nice. We weren't super into the density of the bread pudding but the flavor of that was also good. This place feels a bit pricey for the amount of food that you get compared to similar-tier establishments, but I did enjoy it enough that I would definitely come back to try a different zeppelin if I was in the area and craving a salad. Or just go with the southwest steak again, it was amazing!

Yelp
I wasn't sure what I was in for I'm from cali but YUM and YUM. Love the concept food was fresh and staff was great.

Yelp
Convenient location for downtown Dallas hotels. Quick preparation of food after mobile ordering, polite staff, good grub!

Yelp
Stuck on a call so I ordered this through Uber eats. It was ready pretty quickly and arrived just as I requested. I ordered the metropolitan Cobb lunch box. This is such a neat idea for a sandwich. It's basically your favorite salad in a hollowed out crouton. The bread (French?) loaf is flaky and crisp and buttery. The perfect compliment to the salad. All of the ingredients were fresh and traveled really well. Don't let me forget the cookie...it was WARM and chocolaty...very good. Can't wait to mk my next order!

Yelp
A corporate racket. Nice staff but our jaws were on the floor. $39 for a soda, two salads, a "bowl" of soup, and just the insides of bread (the outsides cost money.) Oh, and I had to ask for it. Bread zeppelin doesn't give you bread. $39 is so outrageous we were laughing. Canned beans and lettuce? Come on.
google avatar

Bridget B.

Yelp
1 Word: obsessed! This is not your typical deli sandwich shop. The salad stuffed zeppelins are nutritious, filling, and delicious! I have tried 3 of their Zepplins so far & have never been disappointed. Additionally, the staff is super welcoming & sociable through the full ordering process. If you are looking for a healthy and quick lunch, this is the place to go!
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
I would recommend. Nice sandwiches and great bread pudding. Ordered delivery so I can't comment on the location or staff.
google avatar

Anastasiya S.

Yelp
Delicious zeppelins, downtown location is rarely busy, quick service, fresh produce. Good place to have a quick lunch or dinner
google avatar

Priya G.

Yelp
Salad is good, somewhat overpriced. Was disappointed in the tofu- it's not cooked/baked like with sweetgreen, so less than appetizing. The Greek salad otherwise was good. Might come back.
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
Great salads usually when I was able to order one. Today I want one spur of the moment so I drove over and walked to door only to see I need to order before hand. Very inconvenient. I try to place my order through the website and ran into so many glitches about the password and account already existing. I didn't get to order a salad today. This is a horrible business practice. You lost my business for the day. Maybe not forever but definitely for today.
google avatar

Yelp
I always loved the name of this place but avoided it for the longest time because I wrongly assumed it was just another sub shop and I already have my faves. I was wrong- totally wrong. These are not hoagies. . A fresh baked and hollowed out hoagie roll filled with salad does not sound appetizing but it's the most solid, delicious, semi-healthy, best fast lunch I've had in forever. I'm an instant fan. Service is fast and friendly and they're clean and comfy inside. It's the best salad sandwich thing I've ever had.
google avatar

Tara R.

Yelp
Delicious salad and friendly staff. They were patient with my decision making for my build your own salad. The prices weren't that bad considering other reviews said they were very expensive. They are on par with every other salad place I have visited.
google avatar

Nicole Q.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of this franchise despite only trying one menu item - the Southwest steak bowl. It's filling, delicious, healthy, and affordable. The avocado ranch is creamy and pairs really well. When I'm craving a cheat meal I'll be back for that bread pudding!

Dub1ous1 ..

Yelp
It cost me $14 and shouldn't even be on the list as BLT isn't on their menu and the employee didn't know what a BLT was.
google avatar

Jenna L.

Yelp
Wonderful concept, delicious ingredients, a very refreshing alternative to your typical sandwich. Well done. I can't wait to get back to Texas.
google avatar

Kurtis J.

Yelp
Obviously a nifty name, of course. Gotta give credit there. We almost made the mistake of getting the salad because I'm not about that bread life but ended up going full-on Zeppelin. We stopped by for a quick bite and ended up being regulars at this joint for our short time in Dallas. The main concept is hallowing out the inside of a warn, medium sized bun and filling it in with your salad arrangement. Mellow is the man who knows what he's been missing.

Sheree R.

Yelp
Food was outstanding! I can't believe there aren't more places like this everywhere around the country.
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
Food was fine but service and management was not. Person taking order was "checked out" with a blank stare to the corner of the store and did not take my order until they were done starting at nothing. For the bowl, we choose 6 toppings and I was told my chicken was extra, which was fine. When ready to pay, I was advised I had more than 6 toppings and premium toppings that I did not agree to pay extra for. My friend with me was told the same about his salad. We each spent 1 1/2 more for our salad than what was advertised on their menu. Management did not care when we complained and pretty much blamed it on us.
google avatar

Jade L.

Yelp
I ordered the Nola and was surprised at how good it was. The bread tasted super fresh and crispy, the avocado ranch had a nice flavor, and the mix-ins in the salad really worked well together. Also it's a pretty good deal for the price. The only thing I disliked was the shrimp. Each shrimp piece was super small like the size of a thumbnail and tasted kind of fake. The shrimp definitely didn't come from a local seafood joint but tasted like frozen shrimp basically. I didn't mind this too much as everything else in the salad overpowered the shrimp flavor but I would not recommend getting the Nola if you're expecting big shrimp pieces or are a fan of shrimp
google avatar

Natalie C.

Yelp
So here is the deal: BZ has several speciality concoctions they offer in a salad bowl or sub. For the salad, your choice is combined in a bowl for you and a folk to enjoy. For the sub, a roll is cut at one end and hollowed out. Your selection is chopped and stuffed into roll. Simply and delicious. I had the metro Cobb and would recommend again. The sub was filling for lunch (I had water and did not select the chips or the bread pudding but will try ones future visit.) Why the 4 to 4 1/2 stars? I think the prices could be lower and aligned to downtown lunch prices (or chips or drink added). Some of the ingredients are premium but $10 seems high for just the sandwich. There ARE cheaper options and maybe they consider Salata their competition. Note that probably with the newness comes Chipotle-like long lines with the assembly line feel. However they are staffed well so really can't complain about the long lines right now.
google avatar

Liz G.

Yelp
Ordered pick up for the first time this afternoon, we just moved in right across the street and will definitely be back! Everything was so delicious.
google avatar

Christian N.

Yelp
In the heart of the city, Bread Zepplin is a refreshing approach to the submarine sandwich. It's like the chipotle of sandwiches. Super friendly and delicious.
google avatar

Allie W.

Yelp
I honestly didn't have a desire to try a chain sandwich place. But then I had a huge craving for a salad while in Dallas for work and this place had great reviews. And those reviews were spot on. The selection was wonderful! You get to pick your salad base, toppings, and protein at the salad bar. 4 toppings for a "zepplin" (Sandwich) 6 if you're just doing a bowl (I did) Then they chop it all up finely and mix it (think marble slab) They asked if I wanted everything done this way, I asked that the avocado not be chopped and they were happy to oblige. You let them know how much dressing, and you're done! I kind of thought it would be mushy but it truly wasn't. For $12, I got a huge salad. I'll be back for sure.
google avatar

Sheng H.

Yelp
I ordered my very first zeppelin. Built my own zeppelin. At first when they told me I can only add four items in with my salad mix, I was disappointed. I had the kale mix with my four items (banana peppers, jalapeño, bell peppers and sweet onions) added grilled chicken. My favorite part was how they chop the salad mix up into tiny pieces. My struggles with salad is that the pieces are often too big and I find myself cutting smaller it with a knife. Added chipotle ranch. (They have a huge long list of dressing) Mixed it up, stuffed it into a deliciously toasted french bread. It was freaking good! I'm going back.

Cece M.

Yelp
So what can i say service was great and friendly they worked on my order as soon as i got there no i didn't order online and i had 3 orders to get filled everything was correct food was fresh love them for a bomb salad not to mention the place is clean.
google avatar

Kay B.

Yelp
They got my order wrong everything. Spoke with a guy name Chris (manager) who stated I was refunded. 2 weeks now and still no refund.

Yelp
This restaurant has a fantastic interior design. Very simple and relaxing. If you're searching for a quick lunch, this is the place to go. I've gone here for lunch twice now, and it's usually crowded. The service isn't great, but the food is always wonderful and fresh! The Shrimp Grain Bowl and the Nola Zeppelin were my favorites. I haven't ventured far off the menu, but the stuff I have had has been excellent. It had edamame, carrots, cucumbers, sesame seeds, cabbage, onions, wontons, grain, and shrimp, and it was not only delicious but also healthful. I tried the Shanghai Zeppelin and didn't care for it, but it tasted fine (3 stars). They also feature a huge assortment of sides, including a variety of chips and loaf bread. I've discovered that the availability of their soups varies from day to today. In addition, their bread pudding is a must-try dessert. I'll be bringing some friends with me. Keep an eye out!
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
Service was awful and I was the only person in the restaurant. It was about 6pm. Management was sitting and having a meeting. Somehow my order was messed up. Ok, had to wait 15 minutes, again for a salad sandwich. I had high hopes. I LOVE the concept. Maybe have one more senior person behind the counter? There were four associates and they were all very confused Hope this helps!
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
This place is super cool and SUPER BUSY during lunch hours. If you're in the mood for a salad, go here! (never tried the bread) I made my own salad. They have so many options!! Their lettuce options are romaine, spinach, kale, iceberg, and arcadian mix. You can pick whatever lettuce you'd like, 6 additional ingredients, and you pay for protein (if you want it), then you add dressing. I had the honey dijion dressing & it was everythinggg. They chop the salad and mix your dressing in the bowl. The salads are hugeee!! They will definitely fill you up. I paid about $12 with tax.
google avatar

Katrina S.

Yelp
I went here for lunch with my coworkers and was pleasantly surprised. I'm used to salad places being from LA but I liked that you could get a salad or put it into a zeppelin. I also really enjoyed that you could get the inside of the bread for free. Ultimately, a great salad place especially for lunch. I got the Kale-Ifornia and really enjoyed it!
google avatar

Molly T.

Yelp
I usually avoid sandwich type places but this is something convenient, fast and fresh! It's funny, I work about 2 blocks over and have never ventured in until yesterday when my team wanted something quick. My friend ordered for me and I arrived to get a table while they were in line. As others have noted, it gets packed fast so get in. The line does move quickly but there are lots of little extras so you need time to peruse the menu. I got an Asian salad with tofu, mixed greens, wonton noodles. My friend got the same but the salad was stuffed into a gutted baguette. Think of it like an upscale stuffed sandwich with the best part of the bread, the outer crunchy layer! I liked the dressing too and am looking forward to coming back and trying more. The salads come with an option to add more protein. There are some with blue cheese too. It's way better than Subway and you do get full eating such a big salad. Until next time, BZ, I salute you!
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
I've known about bread bowls for soup, but salad in bread!? Seems like an odd combo but it is so tasty! The experience is fun as you get to pick your salad base, toppings, and protein at the salad bar. Then you move to the butcher table and they chop up your salad with this really cool arched knife. The salad is scooped into a mixing bowl. Select your dressing and they'll start drizzling until you say the word. If you get a zeppelin, they'll get a freshly warmed bread ready, core out the inside, and stuff the salad in. The crunchiness of the zeppelin is super satisfying. I enjoy the steak Cobb salad. You'll get a lot more salad in a bowl, and they pack it pretty densely. The lines during lunch can be really long, but the line moves quickly. You can also order online ahead of time, but you won't get to build your bowl live - so you don't have any say in how much dressing. You'd just pick up the food at the cashier.

James U.

Yelp
Prices for salad bowl have increased while serving sizes have decreased. Also, choices on menu have been greatly reduced. No justification for all of these changes. I realize that prices have increased but to basically reduce the serving size to barely enough for a full lunch meal is unacceptable. I won't be buying lunch there in the future. There are too many other lunch place options.
google avatar

Evie H.

Yelp
Cute place for salads here in downtown. We stopped by almost near closing on a cold evening and were the only two customers. We got the Washington salad which was fantastic - I'm a huge fan of beets and chicken in salads. Wished there was more of each though. Their cranberry poppy dressing was so good to pair with this salad. They let us try it on a piece of bread first. Highly recommend it especially if you're not that into vinaigrettes or creamier dressings like ranch. Wish we got some bread as well as it was so much better than I expected when we taste tested it!
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Fast. Fresh. Convenient. I've come here a couple of times for lunch, do your best to arrive BEFORE 12 because the line will easily be out the door. No worries though, they move people in and out quickly. Yummy salads, however you want them. You can customize your own or order something that's already on the menu. They also have delicious fresh bread for your order. They have probably the best salads in this part of downtown. I will absolutely return. They'll lose just one star because it gets a bit hectic in here, and also because depending on what you add one it can get a LITTLE pricey. That's all. Don't let that deter you from grabbing anything here though, Bread Zepellin is a for sure winner in all things regarding a fresh, healthy lunch.
google avatar

Elsa Elena R.

Yelp
I usually love this place but I wanted to provide feedback that you need to be careful when filling up the salad bowls. I ordered two salads and one was clearly not filled up sufficiently. Please make sure the bowl is completely filled with salad since it is not cheap, thank you. other than that the taste is really good, thanks
