BreakUp Bar - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"It doesn’t matter if you’re single, dating, married, or something in between, you’re still allowed to hate Valentine’s Day. And if that’s the group you fall into, Break-Up Bar is the place for you. Operating out of Severance Wine Bar on Melrose, this annual pop-up is doing four different “Anti-Valentine’s Day” packages, such as the “Ghosted,” which comes with six French macarons and a rosé tasting kit, or the “Wasted Two Years Of My Life,” which features a cheese board and three different alcoholic spritzers. Pickup only. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Breakup Bar was a huge disappointment and I’m appalled by the lack of customer service at every turn. We bought tkts for 8PM and when we arrived, the doorman said to come back at 8:15. We came back at 8:15, and he told us there was a private event until 8:30, and that they would be ready for us and the other 8PM groups at 8:45. Why would a place take reservations at a time when they know they are booked? We didn’t get in until practically 9 and were very disappointed with the experience, drinks, and service. The decor was very low budget with just a bunch of post-its on the wall and some goodwill finds stuck to the wall. The drinks were NOTHING like the photos on line. I actually laughed when they brought them to the table. The service was slow at best, but mostly nonexistent. We felt like we paid for an experience that did not meet our expectations AT ALL. We even tried to get a refund through eventbrite to no avail. Needless to say, I do not recommend Breakup Bar. Don’t waste your time on a place that doesn’t value it, or you as a customer.

Save your money on a ticket to this and just go to Severance on a normal night. Other than a wall of post-it’s and a screen playing a silent version of Hitch, everything is the same - the food, drinks (flavor combos might be slightly different but that’s about it), and even the servers. The space ‘adjacent’ to Severance that the pop-up is in is actually just the other side of the restaurant - I had dinner in this space last year. Overall, the concept is good, the execution is lackluster, and the $20 you pay to get in only covers a small cocktail or flight of sparkling wine that maybe equates one glass.

My best friend Alyssa took me to this beautiful little peace of heaven. This place only opened for 4 weeks and 2/14/22 will be its last day. You need a reservation for this spot. You can book your reservation via the website I listed. It's not the place to take your better half on valentine's day. It's more of a place where the hurt and heartbroken hang out. They are having an event and their calling it "Anti-Valentine's Day Celebration. They have a "wall of broken relationships" a "Relics of Valentine's Day" small art exhibit, along with a projector that plays breakup movies both old and new. I will upload photos of the menu for you all to see. In a nutshell it was fun, it was different and it served it's purpose. (In my own opinion anyway) They serve themed cocktails, champagne and non-alcoholic beverages as well. Your gonna need proof of vaccination have a temperature check taken and a mask is required. The provide masks as well if you don't have one or forgotten it. The have digital, disposable and sanitized menus available. The accept contactless payments too. The staff are all fully vaccinated and are required to wear gloves. You can also order online for delivery. The anti-valentine's day brunch reservation is $22 per person and you can make a reservation for up to 10 people. Anti-valentine's day breakfast reservations are already sold out of it you're interested it's doing brunch you better stop reading this review, go make your plans, then come back and hit the heart & follow button.
