Breakfast Republic - Review - Downtown - San Diego - The Infatuation

"Breakfast Republic has become so popular that there are now a couple throughout town. The one Downtown makes for an easy breakfast meeting point whether you’re in town for a bachelorette or something at the convention center. They have classics like omelets and scrambles, along with more creative things like a turkey meatloaf hash or vegan breakfast burrito with plant-based eggs. That’s to say, there’s something that’ll please everyone. At the top of our go-to list are the crab and crawfish cakes. The patties don’t skimp on seafood, and creamy hollandaise sauce complements the nice bit of heat from guajillo chilis and blackberry tang. Every location has a Christopher Walken sign at the entrance cheekily reiterating, “No reservations, Walkens only.”" - Sabrina Medora

I am not a big breakfast person, but I could eat here daily (if only there was one in my backyard)! The food was awesome. We enjoyed the omelet and "pancake flight." And oh, the mimosa was the best I have had in a really long time! Will plan to eat here any and every time we visit beautiful San Diego!

Breakfast Republic was a memorable breakfast experience for my husband & I during our stay in SD. I was hesitant to order the Chilaquiles but omg I am so glad that I did. They were delicious! I paired it with Cafe de Olla also SO good. My husband got the Traditional Eggs Benedict. The service was great. Overall I’ll definetly return next time we are in town.

Google
Breakfast Republic has such a friendly and energetic vibe. My hubby loves a good Bloody Mary and boy does this place have a good Jurassic Bloody Mary! The food is delicious and they have their own brand of hot sauce and ketchup. We went twice during our trip to San Diego!!!

Upon arrival the hostess was wiping the menus; we (a party of 3) were greeted and sat at a clean table. The lychee mimosa was a perfect blend, it did not taste like flavored syrup. The food was presented on cute Breakfast Republic designed plates. The chilaquiles (picture included) tasted great with a little spicy kick. Oreo pancakes (picture included) are the right texture and not overly sweet. And the veggie and pesto frittata is filling with a generous amount of spinach; the baby tomatoes were fresh and sweet. I will definitely return and try other menu items.

Make a reservation ahead of time. You'll have to go to the location and ask to be put on a waitlist, around 25-40min wait. There was a mistake with my order, took a few tries, but it was resolved and compensated. Protein lover meal was a fair price for a fair meal, protein pancakes were great for about two bites then they just got drier. Overall slightly expensive, decent service, basic atmosphere, subpar food if that. Unfortunately won't revisit.

The four of us lived the atmosphere, staff, and especially the food here. I had the Breakfast Sammie with the Jurassic Bacon! It was amazing.

I've visited San Diego four times in 2025, and during this trip, I discovered an absolute gem of a restaurant for the first time—what a find! The food was nothing short of spectacular—seriously, WOW! You must try the shrimp and grits—it's a flavor explosion that blew me away. The ambiance? Simply perfect—stylish, welcoming, and full of good vibes. But what truly elevated the experience was our incredible server, Kyla. She was attentive, energetic, and radiated positivity. Her upbeat personality made the whole evening unforgettable. This place isn’t just good—it’s 5 stars and beyond. Highly recommend!

First ones in at 7am. Food, service, and atmosphere were all exceptional. The French toast was fluffy and delicious while the veggie pesto skillet was loved by the wife. She also thoroughly enjoyed the coffee. Highly recommend if you are looking for a tasty breakfast while enjoying good music and atmosphere.

Yelp
Delicious. This place is a vibe. I've been to others but this one has a funkier vibe. Service was quick, the food was bomb, and I felt it was fairly priced.

Yelp
I was in town for a few days on business and on my own for breakfast. This place was walking distance from my hotel, so it was an easy choice. But...it was SO GOOD that I came back for breakfast the next day, too! I had the veggie and pesto fritata on my first visit. It was delicious, but the potatoes on the side were the show stopper! They were the perfect amount of crispy outside and fluffy potato inside. I dreamed about the potatoes that night and returned the next morning... On day 2, I tried the sammy with, yes, more potatoes. On that meal, the sandwich stole the show. The bread was amazing (I think that's what makes a sandwich), but all the components of the sandwich were done well. And the potatoes were nearly as good the second day as the first.

Yelp
after getting many to-go orders from here I decided to finally brave the long (and sometimes just barely acceptable) wait times to eat here. try visiting during the week vs weekend and the difference in wait times can be ~45 mins. I ordered the jurassic Benedict .. the glaze on the bacon is next level .. just really marries the hollandaise into one scrumptious bite. Had the chilaquiles and flight of pancakes as well .. everything was yummy across the board. of course we had to try the bloody mary and they were great .. i even recommend having their coffee/whiskey shooter .. great dessert like treat after the meal. parking ... again, its downtown, you are surrounded by many pay-to-park places .. if you visit when there's a padre game, those prices will surge and become unappealing ..

Yelp
Yesterday morning I experience the hospitality and morning enjoyment provided by Breakfast Republic in San Diego's Liberty Station area. Another of the dining facilities housed in building that once housed, fed, and provided training for young men and women in the United States Navy. Celebrating a retirement of a fellow co-worker, the team met at Breakfast Republic dine together one last time, and present a gift prior to returning to the office for the day's activities. The food was very delicious and I was very pleased with the huge selection of breakfast and brunch entrees available. Omelets, pancakes, waffles, shrimp n grits, traditional eggs & meats, and various in-house specials. I selected one of the omelet specials with house potatoes, wheat toast and a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Great choice! The atmosphere of the establishment is calm, yet refreshing and perfect for beginning a day! Customer service is excellent, and the prices are extremely reasonable. Be aware that it's a very popular place and they don't accept reservations. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The food is amazing! They close a bit early so make sure you're here before 3pm. I usually get the strawberry and mascarpone French toast with a side of Brussel potatoes. The ambiance is great perfect for brunch with friends

Yelp
Very tasty breakfast spot with a separate vegan section of the menu and humungous portions. Located in beautiful Liberty Station, we stopped in for a brunch on a Friday morning. We were quoted a 45-minute wait for a table despite countless tables being available -- staff didn't seem to be working efficiently. Thankfully, it was only actually a 15-minute wait after we got offered a high-top table (which we asked about we arrived and were turned down). They have 6 vegan brunch mains. I ordered the Veggie & Pesto Frittata ($17.50) and my wife ordered the Jammin' Bennie ($18) -- both are made with JUST Egg. Both dishes came out in about 10 minutes with very large portions. The frittata was well-designed, coming with a nice amount of fresh veggies, a delicious pesto, a delicious tomato jam, and served with sourdough bread, and very crisp homefries/potatoes (a little too crispy, honestly). My wife's benny was very solid too, coming with what seemed like a seitan and fennel plant-based sausage ground along with the JUST Egg, a blackberry-jalapeno jam, and vegan hollandaise, along with the same homefries I got. Very tasty from the bites I had. We also got some bottomless Cafe de Olla, a Mexican-inspired coffee made with cinnamon and piloncillo sugar -- tasty but too sweet ultimately. Friendly, non-chalant but astute service. Good food, huge portions, a little pricey, a little mismanaged, but all in all a good spot for brunch. Recommended.

Yelp
We're a fan of the Breakfast Republic in North Park, and this location is no exception! I got the seasonal scramble with the house potatoes upgraded. Upgraded potatoes were delicious! Definitely doing this on every visit. Scramble was also tasty. I got the iced ube latte, which I enjoyed! SO tried the Sweetie Cocky, which he wasn't a fan of (I tried a sip of it and was also not a fan - it tasted a little overpowering in a way I can't quite describe). A thing of note, and it could've been because they were super busy - our toast (English muffin for me) came dry and we had to ask for butter/jam. They promptly provided both in one of those small divided serving trays. but it did seem a little wasteful since there was a lot of both and we only used maybe 5% of it, and I'd assume the rest would have to go into the trash since it's been contaminated :( but otherwise our servers were friendly and it was an enjoyable breakfast! We were told a 25 minute wait time but I think we were seated within 10 minutes :)

Yelp
Given the wait times and hype, I expected more. I got the breakfast burrito and it was fine. Breakfast burrito: 6/10 The rice and beans that came with it were cold. The rice was hard as if it was a day old. The potatoes inside the burrito were hard, not cooked enough, and so bland. They could have been saltier, crispier, and softer. The steak inside tasted a day old. Chewy, bland, and overcooked completely. Other than those two ingredients I remember big chunks of tomato but that's it. Very little cheese and you couldn't even taste it. The saving grace was this herb aioli I had to ask for and pay extra for that came on the side. Otherwise there would have been very little flavor. Don't recommend the breakfast burrito and honestly was disappointed in this place.

Yelp
UNDERWHELMING BRUNCH SPOT w/ a TRENDY FARM AESTHETIC... I was expecting to be wowed when I walked in, especially given the long lines outside and I'm leaving neutral. I had the Tres Leches Pancakes from the Vegan menu and they were pretty dry. Had their not been any syrup or cream, this would've been bad. The pancakes themselves weren't awful they just were way too dry. Also, the toppings are very weak in flavor. I felt very bored with the presentation and the underwhelming flavors. I've had vegan pancakes from other spots and there's an important balance to mixing the batter correctly and ensuring you don't put too much of one ingredient or else it negatively affects the consistency. I think they're still learning how to find that balance here. Service was fine, the hostess was very professional and seated us promptly. Our waitress was decent, she hardly checked on us but she was polite at least. I felt welcomed here, the ambiance was lively but fun. Nobody was drunk or acting crazy. The Breakfast Republic allows pooches inside so if you're planning on eating here be prepared. The dogs weren't a problem but I understand some people may be allergic, there was several doggos in the inside dining area. If you're a fan of this franchise or just really loved you're experience merch is available to buy. They had everything ranging from hats, shirts and more. Note, parking is VERY limited as this is in the heart of downtown SD.

Yelp
I've had breakfast republic before, but today was a bad experience. Got seated immediately on a Saturday brunch at 11:30. Restaurant at 50% capacity (photo). I waited over 52 minutes (confirmed) for a breakfast burrito and crab cake? Hello? I checked in with two servers during that time and they told me that its been like that. Watched 2 couples sit down and get their food (more complicated dishes) before mine. None of the servers checked the kitchen pass. 100% missed my meal, and didn't do anything about it. Not happy.

Yelp
I parked at a parking lot that charged $10 for all-day parking. I came for weekend brunch, and no street parking was available. Kind of expected for the Gaslamp area, which is why I never come here. However, the wait time for the restaurant was surprisingly non-existent despite the popularity of the restaurant. We were quickly seated and our server was attentive and friendly. Shrimp and grits ($18): The grits were savory and cheesy, with an explosion of flavors in my mouth. The shrimp was tender, and the eggs were perfectly poached. I definitely would recommend ordering this dish. Strawberry mascarpone French toast ($13): I would pass on this one. The mascarpone cheese was flavorless, and the strawberries were grocery market sweet (meaning not sweet at all). The French toast did not have the crisp exterior and custardy interior that is expected of a good French toast. Frankly, it was a dry dish and even the syrup could not make up for it.

Yelp
This review is for 5/26/24 at around 1:20pm. Wait time was about 20 mins not too bad. We were seated by the host who was super friendly and welcoming ! However we weren't helped by anyone until 15-20 mins later. Our waiter came whose name is Marissa, took our order. We got a meat lovers scramble with upgraded potatoes with sourdough English muffin and steak and eggs with bacon hash brown and sourdough bread. She came by with our coffees and orange juice. The coffees we ordered were Mexican Iced Mocha and sweetie cocky. (Says it was supposed to be served coffee iced cubes) which it wasn't by the way. the immediate taste for both coffees were super watery with a splash of cream as if they've been sitting in the back and they legit put some ice cubes on top and called it a day. We called our waiter over. And explained to her how we did not want the coffees anymore because of how it tasted. She legit gave me stank face as if my request was absurd and said ok? We just requested a soda to go with our lunch. Meat lovers scramble - 6/10 it was okay not the greatest Steak & eggs - 5/10 overcooked eggs and salty hash browns She comes back and slammed the soda down onto the table. I can feel her nasty attitude. Who knew by just simply asking for a small request you could be treated so badly. In the beginning we saved a menu for a little sweet treat afterwards but she handed us the bill instead of asking if we would like to order anything else or needed any more napkin. Before we could even ask she legit would walk away. Overall- i wouldn't waste your time here. Food was mediocre. Coffee was terrible. Service was poor

Yelp
I haven't eaten a Breakfast Republic in several years, I have clearly been missing out. The huge lines always deterred me, and the wife gets extremely hangry, so I always avoided it. But if you sleep in and get here at Noon or after, the wait can be a reasonable 5-20 minutes, love it! I love sleeping in on weekends! Hostess and staff were all friendly. $15 Jurassic Pork Benedict...classic egg benedict with really thick bacon, delicious! The roasted potatoes were pretty good, though a bit dry and bland, not as good as my favorite brunch spot(The Mission). $4 Coffee...bottomless and satisfying! There are affordable dishes priced as low as $10 as well. I'll have to come back, and when I do, it will be at least 11:30am or after.

Yelp
Visited the spot on my way to the border. Absolutely stupendous! I wish I'd come with a group because I would've loved to taste more dishes. Hostess was efficient and welcoming, I had a glass of water on the table within two minutes and coffee within five. Great, efficient service. But that "Jurassic Pork Benedict" was slamming! I like bacon and would've been happy with a bacon Benedict, but they went to town on the bacon. It was sweet, spicy, rich. A+!

Yelp
Solid & Dependable breakfast spot! Top on my list for Bloodies (Bloody Mary's), All Benedicts & Cafe de ola. Breakfast Republic also offers a great vegan menu. My family went to the location in East Village on G street for my brother's bday on Sunday. The wait was about 1.5hrs, this location did not offer reservations. The server let us know it is typical for a Saturday & Sunday. This location is smaller then others I have been to. Regardless the service was very quick and on point. If this location was bigger it would still be packed.
google avatar

Mariana T.

Yelp
Service was great! Our server was very friendly. We waited a long time for food. And food was disappointing, fruit was over ripe. Hard to mess up avocado toast, bread was soft and not crunchy. Ordered cafe de la olla great flavor but also luke warm. And to top it all of it was $26 for coffee and avacado toast. I'm okay with spending $ if it's worth it. Save your money.
google avatar

Aiko N.

Yelp
4.5 stars, rounded up. This is one of the few places I ignore the 4% surcharge at, because I enjoy the food. I've had the the Jurassic Pork Benedict, chimichurri steak, as well as hot coffee and lattes. Everything is fresh and of good quality. I have visited midweek when it's nearly empty as well as on a busy Saturday, and service was slow both times. I appreciate the tables are spaced nicely apart and the restaurant feels airy and open. Overall, I still want to try the pancake flight and other egg dishes, so I will be back! Pros: - menu options - perfectly poached eggs - excellent coffee - great location- near other activities in a walkable area Cons: - slower service - 4% surcharge- just raise menu prices! -

Yelp
Just had breakfast at Breakfast Republic, and I have to give a shoutout to our server. He was seriously on top of everything, super attentive and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. The food tasted great, and he made sure our drinks were refilled without us even asking. I ordered the pancakes trio and didn't like one of them. Erick was quick to offer me a new item and actually brought out replacement pancakes for me. It is rare for me to get service this good and i wanted to recognize our server because I'll definitely be coming back, thanks to Erick and the great food!

Yelp
Saw this place on a few food blogs and came to check it out. They had a long line waiting so we had our hopes up Pros - hip interior with friendly staff and great on-tap kombucha. They had unique items like oreo pancakes and California breakfast burrito. Cons - the food was decent but not up to the hype. Their shrimp and grits was OK at best and their jambalaya was under-seasoned. Pancakes had some unique twists but at the end if the day, they were just pancakes. Overall, this place has more unique items than your standard iHop or Denny's, but nothing memorable. Not worth the hype.
google avatar

Yelp
Here on vacation and yelped this location it's a bit of a wait but the food was good home style potatoes are just that home style because they looked like pre frozen ones still tasty though applewood bacon was delicious but they're mixed berry jelly was amazing I would go back despite a little disappointment in the potatoes

Yelp
The girls and I were super hungry and we were not sure where to go, there's so many wonderful breakfast options in SD! We were seated after about 15 minutes and it was worth it! I had the best iced chai latte, everyone really enjoyed their food. Cute little restaurant with fun decor! The staff were friendly and everything was great! Would highly recommend!

Yelp
We woke up a little late after the night of preparing for a friends engagement party, and really needed to eat before the actual engagement party. Tried to go to morning glory and could not find parking at all and then Asa bakery and the line was waaay too long. Worried to be able to get seated an hour before closing, we put in an online order at breakfast republic. Thankfully when we got there there was a lot of seats open and they were able to accommodate us to eat in because they hadn't boxed it either. I've always loved the Jurassic pork so I got the benedict. Love the natural-tasting ketchup and hot sauce. Churros pancakes were great too. The coffee was okay, it wasn't served hot.

Yelp
I walked in as a party of one and was seated right away. It was pretty busy but service didn't suffer. I ordered brioche French toast, eggs and potatoes. My food arrived within 10 minutes after placing the order. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. There was a good playlist playing at a good volume so if you were sitting with someone you would be able to hear just fine. Just a nice place to be social or not. Either way you'll enjoy the food.
google avatar

Yelp
Great breakfast spot in Downtown San Diego! A nice walk from all the local hotels. Service staff were all friendly and kind. They get busy quick, but also the wait isn't too long. My husband has the smores French toast. He find it a little too sweet. Probably just because there were a lot of marshmallows and he still topped it off with some syrup. He also order a side of the maple sausage, which was quite delicious. I had the jambalaya with over easy eggs. It was very delicious. I think the rice was slightly undercooked but still tasted good. Eggs over easy were cooked to perfection!
google avatar

Yelp
Stay downtown and come here to eat breakfast. You get an amazing menu of a wide variety of things. All of it healthy and with healthy portions. I had the avocado toast that had strawberries and pomegranate. This was an insane flavor combo, I happily smashed down. The salted caramel latte here is a great pick me up or go for a mimosas like my wife to help a hangover. Overall experience here is great. We will definitely keep coming back.

Yelp
This was a cute very original spot for breakfast in the Gaslamp district. The food was good and the vibe was pretty cool and unique. The servers were great. I would give it a 4.25 overall. I had the protein scramble with fresh orange juice and coffee. My wife had a veggie scramble. We did not get the bread offered in order to stay low on wheat carbs. The atmosphere is cool with the decor for sure. I would recommend trying this for the vibe and the food.
google avatar

Kay M.

Yelp
Cute atmosphere and amazing service! However, food was just mid. Pineapple Upside Down Pancake - Ummmm. It was okay. I was so excited about this. I felt the "pineapple" was just the small bits of pineapple and pineapple juice/syrup on top of a slightly burnt pancake? Idk. Omelette - It was alright. It wasn't seasoned with pepper, salt... Potatoes - The winner! The potatoes won the round. Couldn't tell if I loved it 'cause it was good or if it was the only one seasoned lol Ube Latte - Light and delish. Not a strong ube flavor and over ice, so drink soon (or ask with easy ice) or it gets watery.

Yelp
From start to finish...my family had a good experience today at breakfast. Wait time was only 10 mins, our server Megan was so kind and attentive, and our meals were served lightening fast . My husband and I looked at each other in amazement because it could not have been more than 10-12mins after ordering. Two of us ordered the chilaquiles. One got the protein scramble and I got the chicken sage egg white omelette and upgraded to the brussel potatoes. Everyone enjoyed their meals, portions were perfect, and they have a decent cup of joe. A solid choice for breakfast for sure.

Yelp
Food was great. Drinks and cocktails are great. The OJ was actually real and fresh press. I loved the spicy Bloody Mary that's also vegan. The vegan benny was perfect, a little heavy but definitely hit the spot, the vegan pancakes veryyyyy sweet but my son loved them. I mainly wanted to leave a review for my server Megan, with the green hair. So attentive. Caring. Goes the extra mile. Always checking on us. Had recommendations for me and my son for beaches to check out. Rare to see a happy, charismatic and sweet server like that now days. You guys got a keeper!

Yelp
This place is THE BREAKFAST PLACE to go to!!! For sure!!!! Place was busy and we did have to wait for a while to be seated but nothing crazy - either way it was worth it!! We were waited on swiftly and with very friendly smile. Coffee was one ofthemost aromatic - delicious and bold!! We ordered eggs, waffles, pancakes and believe me when I say - EVERYTHING WAS TASTY, fresh and whole!! Words can never describe it enough- you're just going to have to take my word for it or pay them a visit yourself. Here are some pics- but hope it only motivates you to visit breakfast republic!! Good food, clean and great energy!

Yelp
Here's a review based on your requirements: --- I had an incredible breakfast experience at Breakfast Republic. The service was amazing--friendly, attentive, and prompt. I really enjoyed the Mexican Mocha; it was rich, flavorful, and the perfect start to my day. The ambiance was uplifting and inviting, with great music that set a chill and fun tone. Every dish we tried was tasty and well-prepared. I highly recommend this place for a delightful, uplifting outing for the entire family.

Yelp
Breakfast republic is decent for a quick breakfast. It didn't really wow me. Maybe I should've asked what the server's favorite was and try their recommendation. I got their french toast with strawberries. Portion is good but I was really hungry that I didn't get to snap a pic haha. My other person got the crab benedict and that one was a good choice! You could taste the crab and it melted in your mouth! We opted to put the jam sauce on the side though because we didn't know how it would be with on the benedict.... It is interesting that they have a ketchup that was different. We asked for regular ketchup because the smell kind of threw us off. All employees were really kind and I do like their bathroom!

Yelp
I love breakfast foods, and Breakfast Republic excels in that department. Started our day in San Diego with a nice thick Pineapple Topped French Toast along with the Shrimp & Grits Breakfast. Everything was good. Happy to know there will be one opening closer to DTLA in Echo Park.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was great, the staff was friendly. They have a good breakfast drink menu. Love the to go coffee with mood ring cup!

Yelp
Food was good. Service was good. Ambiance was good but bathrooms really dirty. For me overall it was a 7/10. We liked everything but wouldn't say we loved it nor do we feel like coming back. I ordered the Ube latte that personally was too sweet and could have used more of an Ube flavor. My husbands coffee was good. We liked that they used coffee ice cubes so that it doesn't water down the coffee. My jambalaya was a generous potion with plenty of shrimp and my husbands stuffed french toast was generously portioned as well. Overall food was good but not enough to come back. This place seems a bit overrated in my opinion.
google avatar

Shelly S.

Yelp
This is always my go to option when going to any of the breakfast republic. As someone who is gluten free, they was the first location that told me the gluten free bread is toasted with the other breads. Not sure if the only locations had a mix up or this only happens at this location. Food came out kind of cold. Okkk spot.

Yelp
My friends and I were visiting San Diego from out of town and Breakfast Republic was on our list of places to go, for brunch. Breakfast Republic is a quintessential brunch spot, offering a wide selection of typical breakfast foods. My group and I got here a little later in the morning, so we did have to wait for about an hour prior to actually being seated. If you want to circumvent the wait time, I highly recommend getting here earlier in the morning. This really is no different from any other popular brunch spot. My friends and I elected to share a bottle of Prosecco, and we each ordered our own entrées. I elected to go for the Mushroom and Pesto Benedict. My oh my, was that packed with flavor. I will self identify, that if any entrée has pesto in it, I am most likely going to get that. I am so happy that I selected this dish because it was a modern twist on a typical benny and it delivered. I couldn't recommend this place more; so if you're ever in town, and in the East Village portion of San Diego, you have to go here!

Yelp
The ambiance and decor is cute. They have writings on the walls that are funny and clever. The staff is friendly and the food is good. However it is kind of slow, not terrible but when you are hungry you notice that there are other places where the food is served faster. They have an outdoor area.

Yelp
We came on a Saturday morning, and we were seated outside. Our server was helpful and friendly. I ended up getting the Mexican Mocha, and it was really delish. My friend ordered the Ube latte and loved it. For mains, we had the Strawbery Marscapone French toast (yummy), Shrimp Frittata (good), Protein Lover Scramble (good), and the Steak and Eggs. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor, highly recommend. We had a great experience. Low key vibes, it does get busy around 9:30.

Ordered takeout and our order was messed up :( very disappointed. No condiments were included even though we selected them in our order. The protein in the American breakfast was incorrect. I ordered maple sausage but received bacon. The chilaquiles did not come with rice and beans as stated on the menu. We took the food to go and were not able to return to the restaurant when we realized the mistakes. We checked that all boxes were there but should've checked inside the boxes. Since it was so busy it was difficult to do so. Overall, very disappointing experience /: I would recommend eating in.

Yelp
We liked that it's open at 7am, and we were first to arrive. Ambiance is casual. Service was prompt. The scramble veggies were cooked tender, not soggy. The potatoes were delicious. The Cali Benedict was tasty, the hollandaise sauce on point. The brussel sprout potatoes had a hint of sweetness that I could do without. Will return.

Yelp
My daughter found this establishment on social media and suggested we. We arrived on Sunday morning (07/21/24) around 8:35 am. It wasn't packed and we were quickly seated. Our drinks arrived pretty quick but then the service when to crap. It's currently 9:10 am and we didn't have received our food. A couple arrived after and they not only got their food but are about to finish their meals. After close to 40 minutes our food finally arrived. I ordered the California breakfast burrito. It wasn't the greatest but it was good and filling. Unsurprisingly, the rice and beans were lukewarm at best. The only thing that was a 10 were the coffee drinks that my wife and daughter ordered.

Yelp
The omelette I ordered was quite fluffy. It was not as good as I was expecting it to be. I left off the toast and didn't try the potatoes. The drink I ordered was surprisingly good.

Yelp
Too wet obviously to be seated on their patio. It's early and not to busy, first come, first served. It's filled up since we arrived and it's just barely after 8:30am. Gustavo is taking care of us today. You will be in good hands with him for your breakfast and brunch experience. He's the best part of todays experience. The staff here are so fast about turning over tables, the clear off and the quick rag wipe and then they are ready for the next guest. We ordered the Mexican mocha latte with oat milk, comes with two shots of espresso, two immune boosts, green tea, gains bowl, chicken fennel sausage omelet with sourdough English muffin and a side of Turkey bacon and a side of the fennel chicken sausage too. $68.07 Not super flavorful or a strong spice to the Mexican mocha latte. It's so-so. The immune shot is different with the pomegranate base juice for it, prefer the immune shots with the lemon juice base for me. Their house ketchup and hot sauce are both good on everything. Their house ketchup has a nice kick to it. The gains bowl is too bad, lots of different textures and flavors. The hot sauce makes it even better. The chicken fennel omelet is tasty, so good that we ended up ordering a side of the sausage again. The sausage is quite good on it's own. The English muffin and potatoes were rather blah. The Turkey bacon looks quite pink and oddly colored, tasted fine, but was also super thin and not better substantial, not a lot to it. That dreaded 4% surcharge that's separate from the gratuity. You do get to pay at the table, as they bring the machine, keeping it honest.

Yelp
Once thing I love about Downtown SD/ Gaslamp is that brunch and breakfast stops seem to be abundant. To narrow my search down, I tried looking for a place with outdoor seating and stuff French toast. Breakfast Republic was able to deliver on both. Ambiance: We were able to grab a table outside for my sister's birthday around 11 on a Wednesday. For it being a weekday, there were a lot of other folks enjoying meals at the open-air indoor tables and outside at the tables facing the street. There was upbeat music playing throughout the space and I caught myself singing along to N'Sync and the like a few times. The decor of the space leaned heavy into the country chicken vibe, which I thought was hilarious and on brand for a breakfast spot. Food: We ordered a ton of good, all of which was super delicious. My sister got the American breakfast which included eggs your way, breakfast meat, toast, and home fries. Her bacon and eggs were cooked perfectly and pancake add-on were both fluffy and crips. I got the strawberry and marscapone stuff French toast with sunny side up eggs and their Jurassic Pork bacon. I wish I could package that Jurassic Pork and bring it home to the East Coast with me. It was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy pork belly, that had both crispy bits and some fat. For beverages, I ordered the Ube latte, which wasn't overly sweet and the Chamango mimosa. This was my first time seeing a blend of chamoye and mango in a mimosa, but now I want to make this concoction at home. Service: Service was great. I wish I remembered our waitress's name, because she was super friendly and understanding. I'll definitely be back and even recommended this place to my relatives that live nearby. Yelp
What a great place to come for Breakfast/brunch. Nice open space with a chill vibe We initially went on a Tuesday and was not enthusiastic about the service or the food. We decided to speak to a manager instead of just being a disgruntled customer and when Michael came to our table he was apologetic, didn't try to give us any excuses and paid our bill. He even invited us to come back before we left town to give it another try. We did that this morning and so glad we did!! The food was amazing and I love me a good cup of coffee and the bottomless cafe de olla made me do several happy dances. Especially when we added that shot of Baileys. I ordered the French toast marscapone , Jurassic pork and one egg. I had to try this special bacon y'all. It's thick cut and cooked with a blend of spices. I wanted to just stick that in my purse and eat on that all day. The French toast was delicious down to the last bite. I didn't share and didn't offer and I'm not ashamed. So yummy. Husbae ordered the shrimp and grits and he enjoyed that all down in his soul. The shrimp were treated just right in this meal. Great execution there. The Chicken and Fennel sausage topped off his meal and I must admit that was a delight on our tastebuds I'm so glad we came back and had a better experience the second time around. It was a great way to end our trip to San Diego.

Yelp
Always a solid dining experience at the breakfast republics. The shrimp and grits are always yummy with 3 perfectly sunny side up eggs. I tried the omelet this time and it was average in my opinion. Son liked the Oreo pancakes. Only issue I wasn't a fan of is when it was time to pay the server stood there waiting for payment. Like drop off the bill and come back because I pay in cash. Don't stand and wait until I check the bill to make sure it's correct and dig in my purse for the amount to pay. Price point is accurate

Yelp
The food was spectacular! We ordered a flight of waffles, pancakes, and French toast. Each one was delicious and to top it off the drinks were excellent as well. Service was on point even during peak business hours on the weekend. The overall theme and vibe of the restaurant is a combination of vibrant colors and funny breakfast puns. If you're in town and looking for a great brunch experience, definitely stop by Breakfast Republic!

Yelp
Decent breakfast spot. Tried their Oreo cookie latte (3/5) and their breakfast sandwich (3/5). The breakfast sandwich felt like it was missing something and it was slightly sloppy to eat due to the runny eggs. Street parking only. Quoted a 25 minute wait for Sunday around 10 but only waited 10-15 for a table. Service was OK.
