Temple Pastries Preps New Central District Bakery for September - Eater Seattle

"The space — which Wood describes as having a 'minimal clean design' with terrazzo stone accents and lots of natural light — will also include a full coffee bar from Broadcast, with beans roasted on site." - Gabe Guarente

Broadcast Coffee - Review - Central District - Seattle - The Infatuation

"We understand how enticing it is to drink an iced orange rind-infused mocha out of a Kerr mason jar. We do. That’s not why we love Broadcast, but it is one contributing factor. It’s located on a street corner that isn’t heavily trafficked - as in, you’ve probably discovered this place when your phone’s GPS calculated a reroute in the Central District. Anyway, they have beer and hard cider here, and you should take advantage of that. photo credit: Chona Kasinger" - Aimee Rizzo

Google
Great small coffee place with high quality coffee. Their espresso is great, and my wife enjoys their cappuccino. The baristas know how to craft espresso drinks well, as they don't need sugar to be great! The drip coffee is great as well! We come back here from time to time, and the donuts are amazing! Better than most places, with very unique flavors!

Google
Great thanks for working on federal holiday! It was the only place in the neighborhood open but yet suitable for family breakfast. With freshly baked pastry, sandwiches, and good coffee, this spacious, and pretty popular place was right what we were looking for in that chilly lazy morning. Spent about $30 with tips for 2 adults and kid. They were so kind to serve a cup of warm milk fof my kiddo.

Google
Broadcast is an excellent coffee shop and fixture of the area. I've been more times than I can count, and service each time has been warm and the space inside relaxing/inviting. Coffee is tasty and I appreciate that there are snacks, beer, and wine available. Love this location!

Google
Just tried Broadcast Coffee for the first time while working in Seattle. I am very impressed. The barista recommended the "Carmelo with an espresso shot"! Excellent!! I also added a London Fog with extra vanilla. Very good and smooth! I highly recommend this coffee shop!! They will be a go-to for me when I travel here.

Google
Broadcast Coffee is a nice low lighting (natural lighting is preferred here maybe) cafe near First Hill area and its my favorite now. I'm love the low-light concept and I enjoyed their Winter seasonal Flapjack Latte which tasted so good, just like it was mentioned- comforting feeling in a cup. They have alcoholic drinks, Tea and lots of food options too.

Google
The coffee is delicious and the baristas are so quick! My only complaint would be that they only offer stevia for artificial sweetener, and stevia is absolutely wretched tasting. Also they don't offer soy milk but they offer a couple of weird milk alternatives instead. I had a delicious pastry that tasted like an elephant ear, I would definitely go back for that.

My family is visiting Seattle before boarding our cruise ship for Alaska and stayed at an AirBnb a block away from Broadcast. The coffee and food were amazing and the staff was helpful, friendly, and very patient with our family of 10 from Alabama lol. Would highly recommend!

Google
If I could give 10 stars this little place of 🌞 would have them! The ambiance of the place, they have all the extra's right there, not behind the counter! Free wi-fi for all customers! And wall plug-ins for almost EVERY customer! And drum roll please ######.... A nice bathroom! That is just for you clean with a lock! This is the "old Seattle" pre " Fentonal Cataclysm"..... After cataclysm no public bathroom, wi-fi, no good service..... And the best things here that I forgot to mention..... The people who work here! Awesome no other word needed. And the music really good not too loud.

Yelp
Huge fan of this establishment. I wish the pastries lasted a bit longer in the day or they refreshed them in the afternoon. Their salted chocolate chip cookie is amazing. Warm it up and you will be happy. Share it with a friend as it is huge. Ample seating and some small outdoor tables/chairs too. Love it. They also host community cleanup events on long weekends. I wish their hours were later on weekends though. Maybe until 5 PM. The morning 7 AM opening is awesome.

Yelp
Cozy Spot with Great Pastries (and Gluten-Free Options!) During our trip to Seattle, my friends and I stopped by Broadcast Coffee Roasters since it was just a few blocks from our Airbnb--a perfect morning walk. When we arrived, it wasn't very busy, which was nice considering there were six of us. I was thrilled to see they had gluten-free options and ordered the jam biscuit, which was absolutely delicious. I wish I had bought more to take with me! While the coffee was decent, it wasn't anything to rave about. However, the pastries were a hit with my friends--they all tried different ones and loved them. I do wish they offered more savory gluten-free pastry options, as that's something bigger coffee shops often overlook. Overall, it's a lovely spot to grab a treat and relax, especially if you're looking for gluten-free goodies in Seattle.

Yelp
The staff were really kind and helpful. The menu is a bit more limited though, especially if you're not a coffee or espresso drinker. I tried the Disco Pony and it was definitely interesting! If you like strong coffee flavors, this is for you. Not my cup of tea though if you'll excuse the pun. The ambiance was mostly fine although it can be hard to find a spot! Very popular for working. The music is a little louder and plugs are more concentrated in some areas so try to get there earlier to find your spot if needed.

Yelp
Broadcast coffee roast is very much an indie coffee shop. There's great music and baristas that really have that Indie look, but also are still very friendly. Coffee wise, they have a lot of options, that are very tasty. We had a drip coffee, two mochas, and the Borgia.

Yelp
Broadcast coffee was a couple blocks away from my Air BnB for a weekend up in Seattle, so I decided to give it a try on a slower morning before heading into the city! Beginning with the ambiance, it's a great little spot near a very green park leading to a cozy atmosphere within and outside of the shop itself that is very welcoming to anyone coming in. The staff, as seen in past reviews, was excellent: they were extremely friendly, and going above and beyond with their recommendations and warm welcome to me as someone who is not native to Seattle. In regards to the coffee, it was alright! I will take into consideration that I have a fantastic coffee scene in Los Angeles and am extremely spoiled, but I did find their cappuccino overtly milky which did not allow me to really get a good taste of their espresso. With all that's considered, this is a nice coffee shop to go for studying, casually walking in, etc for basic cafe drinks and a couple specialty drinks made by the baristas!

Yelp
I guess the sugar was lost along the way.......(writing for more characters yelp is so stingy)

Yelp
Got the latte and the pastries both were good highly recommend the cinnamon roll one it had a cream filling wish it had more but overall pretty solid

Yelp
This was my go-to study/ get work done spot. There is great seating with outlets for computer work. I will say that the music choices (the whole theme of the coffee shop) is too avant-garde for me and I can only take oh so many bob dylan vocal sound-alikes before I stick my earbuds in. I love the fall lattes... especially the yam one that was their response to the pumpkin spice latte. I think it was called the sweater weather. Friendly service with a table or two of outdoor seating.

Yelp
My husband loved the Borgia - it's a mocha with orange peel. I snuck in a taste and it was delicious! I had the flapjack latte - I'd recommend getting it less sweet since the maple really comes through the drink in terms of sweetness. The espresso in both drinks was robust and well pulled. We also shared the Gruyère and caramelized onion croissant and it was delectable! So flaky and buttery, really hit the spot.

Yelp
the staff has been consistently friendly, the coffee is amazing and i come here all the time. not to be missed.

Yelp
I loved this little Coffee Shop, it was just a two block walk away from an Airbnb that we stayed at in Seattle, and right across the street from a Park. It was a cute shop and at most there was always 2 workers working when I came in. They had a simple menu, as well as special drinks handcrafted by the baristas. They also sold some pastries and breakfast sandwiches. They had some cold brew as well and some other cold drinks and little knick knaks. Coffee was simple, they had Lattes, Americanos, Mocha, etc. Came her for a quick morning coffee after my morning jog and walks. I got their Latte, simple yet so delicious. Workers were super friendly and energetic. I really loved their cruffins. They sell out of their pastries quick. Their chocolate chip cookie was also delicious, very big and moist.

Yelp
Service is decent here and prices are less expensive than other coffee shops. I just wish they had more savory breakfast items here.

Yelp
Broadcast was the coffee shop that finally ended my month-and-a-half-long coffee quest in Seattle. Yeah, I know, it may sound absurd that it took me so long to find my way to a caffeine haven in this bustling city. But hey, I'm not your typical coffee enthusiast. So, when I stepped foot into Broadcast, it was a moment of triumph mixed with anticipation. And boy, did it live up to the wait! As the clock struck 9 in the morning, I found myself greeted by a serene atmosphere. Soft indie melodies played in the background, creating a gentle backdrop to this coffee oasis. Surprisingly, the place wasn't bustling with crowds, giving me the luxury of enjoying some peace and quiet. With a iced chai latte in one hand and a slice of their delightful lemon lavender cake in the other, I relished the affordable treats. While both items hit the mark, the tantalizing array of other options made me eager to return and explore further. But what truly sets Broadcast apart, and is deserving of my sincere five-star rating, is the remarkable staff. Warm, friendly, and highly adaptable, they embody the essence of exceptional service. As a blind individual, I encountered a minor hurdle with their Wi-Fi system, which had an unorthodox setup. Despite the network being open, an access code in print was required. Thankfully, one of the baristas named Luna came to my rescue, helping me navigate the situation with grace. Thanks to their assistance, I was able to connect and make the most of a beautiful day. Here's to an overall good experience that guarantees my return to this remarkable place.

Yelp
I live a block away so stopped by for a quick coffee run and I'm glad I did! They have coffee, espresso, teas and a nice selection of pastries. I think it's reasonably priced and the cafe itself is very roomy and spacious so I wouldn't mind grabbing a coffee here and doing some work. It is....a little dark in there (I wish they turned on the lights) and the Seattle cloudy weather that day made the cafe extra gloomy if you're into that vibe. The staff was also very friendly. The cold brew was a little too tart and watered down but the London Fog was tasty! They also serve seasonal drinks and latte art for customers who are dining in. Excited to swing by again and get some work done next time.

Yelp
This place is nice and cool! The coffee was delicious! I haven't tried the food but everything else about this place is great

Yelp
The disco pony is insane: sparkling coffee with a hit of caramel, lemon and other indescribable flavors. Let's just say I'm about it. My friend really enjoyed her iced Carmelo. Loved this roastery!

Yelp
Solid coffee spot in the Central District. We visited Broadcast Coffee Roasters after eating lunch nearby and was in desperate need of some caffeine. I heard great things about Broadcast Coffee Roasters, and after checking it out, I now know why. The space is spacious enough with tables and a small outdoor area where people can sit, work on their laptop and hang out. It's a great space for it, too, as it was quiet on a weekend afternoon. Street parking was easy to find nearby. I ordered an iced oat milk latte, which was exactly what I needed to wake up. The full espresso bar has all the traditional coffee drinks to be made, as well as different teas and a seasonal menu. The coffee itself was solid and was refreshing from the ice and oat milk. I would definitely come back when in the area and in need of some good ol' coffee.

Ederlinda A.

Yelp
Cacio de Pepe bagel and honey oat milk lattes are my favorite here! Love the vibe, nice place to do some work/studying and reading

Yelp
Good environment. Decent amount of outlooks. Sometimes a bit loud. Small tables. Dogs allowed inside. Secure wifi with codes that last 2 hrs. Good coffee/food.
google avatar

Yelp
Broadcast Coffee Roasters is a tad overpriced, but has really good coffee and a diverse selection of bakery products. Managed to get here early on a Sunday morning and snag a table, but the lines are usually out the door and around.

Yelp
Delicious coffee, spacious store, hit and miss customer service. I have been in probably 10 times and have received both great service and lackluster service. Every time I have visited has been during the pandemic so the cafe was not open for seating until just recently. Coffee is reliably delicious and they serve Temple Pastry baked goods which is a plus. Good local coffee shop and across the street from a park!
google avatar

Yelp
Incredible coffee. The Borgia coffee is my favorite, and something I'd go out of my way to order. It's an orange mocha, and as someone who dislikes orange-chocolate concoctions, this turned me on to the flavor combination. Here, it is executed vibrantly with the perfect amount of subtle sweetness and citrus. I love that they have coffee drinks like this beyond the usual espresso and foamed milk ratios. Love their Temple Pastries collab too. A gem of a coffee shop in Seattle.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't live in the area but I try to always make a stop by here when I'm visiting Seattle. My fave coffee spot here.
google avatar

Vicki T.

Yelp
Wasn't sure if it was a good idea to try the iced Disco Pony on a cold and rainy day, but I am so glad I did. I learned about the disco pony from a YouTube video featuring special espressos around Seattle. It's a shot of espresso poured into iced sparkling water and then glazed with a touch of lemon zest (may be missing other ingredients). I thought it would be very watery and weird, but the taste is actually very similar to iced latte but in a refreshing and creamy way. I enjoy the slight touch of sparkling lemonade plus the latte flavor in it. Really worth a try.
google avatar

Tani S.

Yelp
We read about this coffee shop since it was featured on Seattle Eater's list for essential coffee shops in Seattle. I liked the darker interior and really friendly staff behind the counter. It was really smooth, wonderful coffee.
google avatar

Alden C.

Yelp
Not too bad of a coffee place but I'm not sure if it's my favorite. I got the drip coffee here and it had a burnt taste to it. I wasn't too fond of that. Or at least I perceived it as "burnt". Maybe it was just a super strong blend from Stumptown. I'm not entirely sure. I got a Blackberry Croissant which was very good in fact. Service was very quick which was good. No complaints there. Broadcast is a good place to duck into but whenever I may come back I might reroute from a coffee drink and grab a chai. Correction: Broadcast Coffee Roasters roasts their own coffee so what I had was not Stumptown but I believe a breakfast blend.

Yelp
We randomly found this coffee shop on our way to Boeing factory. The baristas are so friendly, welcoming. Love love love the latte! Perfectly roasted coffee beans, without any bitterness.
google avatar

Yelp
Incredible place to sit down and study. And i've studied a lot (and procrastinated even more). Staff is super friendly and although there are a million coffee shops in Seattle, this one is currently my favorite. The AC is perfect, wi-fi is fast, and coffee is strong what more can you ask for. Also the latte art is really cool haha. I come here pretty frequently to do school work, i suggest you do the same!!!!!
google avatar

Christina D.

Yelp
Coffee is fine/good, packaging design is nice. Employee and ownership however are rude, unpleasant to interact with, as they seem to be laboring under the illusion that they are doing you a favor by "crafting" an overpriced cup of coffee for you to pay $7 for. Luckily we live in Seattle, where a delicious cup of coffee is not hard to come by. I don't ever have to pay for the favor of rude/condescending service, for decent coffee Broadcast Coffee ever again!
google avatar

Le T.

Yelp
I like the atmosphere here. It makes me want to be creative. the blueberry scone is good, not too sweet and soft enough. The sparkling water espresso is funny. It has a kick to your throat immediately, like waking up moment. I think its the carbonate. The coffee is not bitter, you can smell but cant taste it much cause the sparkling is stronger. But it does not make me try again.
google avatar

Wayne L.

Yelp
Excellent service, great, yet simple coffee. Had: oat, hemp and almost milk. Reasonable price, matcha powder for a green tea latte. Would come back!
google avatar

Scott E.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to buy beans in Seattle. Their single origins are all light roast, so higher caffeine (I believe at least some of the blends might be medium roast, but not 100% on that). Each bag comes with a free cup of drip, which you can upgrade to a larger size for a small fee. I almost exclusively drink drip from here, but I have enjoyed some of their more creative espresso drinks on occasion. As for food, they have Mighty-O donuts (vegan), pastries from Temple Pastries (definitely not vegan), and some breakfast tacos and other sandwiches (vegan and not) in their fridge. Sometimes they have pop up vendors come and set up food in their cafe. One that I've seen a couple times made breakfast tacos in the style of Austin, where they had moved to Seattle from. I don't know the schedule for the pop ups though, so it's always a pleasant surprise and not something I plan around.
google avatar

Gloria C.

Yelp
Their drinks are play but hightly recommended not going alone specially if you are a girl to that area. I ordered a London fog, nothing special or stand out for me. The area is pretty sketchy, there was a woman approached me and wanted to grab me which scared the freak out of me. Please go with a friend.
google avatar

Tambra C.

Yelp
We drive out here from Snoqualmie for the Figgy Pudding latte maybe three times a week. It's ridiculously good with fig syrup and orange zest, but it's only really good when it's done well, and that's 1/3rd of the time at best. Sometimes you can barely taste the fig, sometimes the orange is missing, and sometimes it doesn't really taste like much of anything, coffee included. There's just too much inconsistency in the way the drink is made, sadly. Worth making the effort for initially, but at $8 for a drink, we're starting to look for other places now.
google avatar

Kevin T.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee shop in town. The staff is really friendly and the quality of coffee is fantastic. The shop has a local laid back vibe and they play good music. A lot of coffee shops in town have been going with modern design- I like this place because it still has a lot of personality.
google avatar

Kilia S.

Yelp
I'm pretty picky with my coffee and this place does a solid espresso. Great beans and baristas don't burn your drink. Pastries are not bad also, but not the best I've had (but this isn't a bakery).
google avatar

Jason Y.

Yelp
Would I come back? Yes. This coffee shop was recommended by our Airbnb host. I decided to go for a run and realized that this coffee shop was next to Pratt Park. After finishing my run, the coffee shop was finally open. There were actually a couple of people waiting outside for it to open (seeing that, I thought to myself, this place is probably good). I decided to order the drip coffee and some scones. The coffee was strong and flavorful. Kept me energized all day after the run and I went hiking as well (walked over 17 miles that day). The scones were dense and filled with small pieces of dried fruit. I brought some back for our hosts and they enjoyed them as well. It is small shops like these that are the must-try in Seattle or wherever you travel.

Yelp
Fabulous local chain coffee shop in the CD. I've always been impressed with the friendly service at this particular location. The crew here seems to genuinely enjoy their jobs and likes to offer recommendations if you're up for something new. WiFi available. Snacks and baked goods. A few chairs outside for some good people watching with a cuppa!
google avatar

Masil M.

Yelp
Nice coffee joint. Good latte. Friendly-ish customer service. Indoor and outdoor seating. Spacious. There is a sign in the bathroom with a QR code that teaches you how to use a plunger. I don't know why I love that so much.
google avatar

Reena T.

Yelp
I ordered a Disco Pony, giddy-up and tally-ho. I asked for Hemp and they had it. With a splash of whatever the coffee concoction it was, it's one of the best refreshing cold coffee drink I've ever had. Handcrafted by a precise mixologist. Perfect foam head and the coffee was not biting. I had to drink water in between because, I just wanted to linger and savor the sweetness. Once your lips touch the cool glass it's a goner. I didn't even add sugar and the ice they put in it didn't water my talk glass of goodness. Cool shop and being on the corner lends way of plenty windows to look out and the park. Lots of areas to "plug" in or out. The music is eclectic like an old time recording studio waiting room. They have a few tasty looking pastries in the glass incloses sneeze guard display, bagels and oatmeal. It got busy but the two perplexed behind the counter keep the line moving swiftly. A great way to start my coffee crawl.

Yelp
I've been a long-time customer of Broadcast and really enjoy their coffee and atmosphere, however, I don't feel comfortable at their establishment anymore. I feel they are no longer providing a healthy and clean environment. You see about some nine months ago they started allowing a very erratic and filthy smelling homeless individual to start coming in to their premises. They allow him to camp out pretty much all day with all his stuff as well as occupy the only unisex bathroom they have. This was going on well before the whole COVID-19 pandemic swept the area. I thought with the new tighter restrictions on sanitation and health concerns they would send him away. To my amazement they still host him. I'm concerned as his foul odor and unhygienic appearance poses a serious health problem. I feel King County Health should look into this. Especially with his constant use of the bathroom as his personal grooming station. Food and beverage establishments need to really step up now and Broadcast Coffee doesn't seem interested in this. I'll find my coffee elsewhere thank you.
google avatar

Thao N.

Yelp
Perhaps one of the best mocha I've had, instantly my mouth was in awe at the first sip. It's like even better because I wasn't even expecting much, I just needed my morning coffee fix. So this is one of those places you should definitely check out if you're meeting up for a date in the area because if it's a bad date, at least you get good coffee out of it since apparently lunch or dinner isn't offered anymore for first dates in this day and age. Great walking neighborhood, easy parking, plenty of very well behaved dogs in the cafe as they are welcomed in here. Tell me about your experience if you've been here or is going to after reading this review:)

Yelp
Love this little coffee shop! Such a hidden gem only a 3 min walk from my apartment. The coffee and breakfast burritos are delicious, and I will be back to try the scones. The baristas are super friendly and patient. The coffee tastes great, and must be strong as I was very awake after, which doesn't always happen after a latte. For sure stop by if you are able to. Very friendly neighborhood cafe.

Clare F.

Yelp
A place for gentrifiers. As a POC, I definitely didn't feel welcome. They forgot my order and then gave me a burnt Sandwich after they realized what I had ordered (it had been sitting in the toaster the entire time) Not a great experience overall but willing to give them another shot.
google avatar

Chelcie B.

Yelp
My favorite place to get beans. Also obsessed with the cruffins. Love this neighborhood spot.

Jaylene P.

Yelp
Great coffee! Barista's know what they are doing. We each got an almond milk latte. It was perfect! Would come again.
google avatar

Leslie Y.

Yelp
Super friendly people who work here...they recommended the pistachio croissant that basically changed my life. It is from Standard Bakery, but that thing is amazing. Apparently they only get 2-3/day, so you know who's heading there early tomorrow!!! :) I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but i love my lattes and I told them less sweet and it was perfect! My friend was able to create this super inventive latte with hemp milk (which they have) and peppermint! Love having a coffee shop in this neighborhood!

Yelp
The best neighborhood coffee shop I could hope for. Wonderful community (both humans and doggos). Reliably random music (Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" came on last September and everyone started laughing, a few people danced). The espresso is incredible, the staff is friendly and silly and kind, and the cream cheese with your bagel? It's free. I have so much love for this corner coffee shop and all the people and pups who make it what it is. Thank you Broadcast, never change.
