The 18 Best Restaurants In Fitzrovia

"Slicing into the gooey, oozing slice of jamón tortilla at Broken Eggs, a Spanish spot, is the most chic we’ve ever felt eating eggs. The whole restaurant is like a Kinfolk shoot come to life. Come during the day for excellent tortillas filled with smoky meat, grilled courgettes, and soft, buttery potatoes. In the evenings, tables fill up with glasses of fruity sangria and simple but elegant dishes: cheesy croquetas and pan con tomate topped with fresh, juicy tomatoes. Visit when you're craving some Spanish sunshine." - team infatuation

The Best Things We Ate This Week - London - The Infatuation

"Jamón tortilla “The sun has decided to reappear, like a diva making us hold our breath for an encore, which made my lunch at Broken Eggs—a Spanish restaurant in Fitzrovia—feel particularly fitting. The airy spot is straight out of a Kinfolk shoot. The tortilla was a similar butterscotch shade as the walls and had an oozy, gooey centre, a crispy top, and enough structure to hold in the fillings—smoky jamón and soft, buttery potatoes. I wish I lived closer so I could get a slice of Spanish sunshine, tortilla, and a glass of sangria on the regular. ” - SC" - Jake Oliver, Rianne Shlebak, Sinead Cranna

Broken Eggs Review - Fitzrovia - London - The Infatuation

"Slicing into the gooey, oozing slice of jamón tortilla at Broken Eggs, a Spanish spot in Fitzrovia, is the chichest we’ve ever felt eating eggs. The restaurant is like a Kinfolk shoot come to life. Walls have deliberately unfinished plaster brushstrokes and are the colour of sun-bleached straw. Net baskets dangle from wooden hooks with the carefully orchestrated un-doneness of an interior design store. Come during the day for excellent tortillas filled with smoky meat, grilled courgettes, and soft, buttery potatoes. In the evenings, large groups file in and sit on intentionally mismatched wooden chairs. The volume increases in line with bottles of sangria hitting tables. When it comes to ordering, the salads feel like a bit of an afterthought so keep it simple with tortillas and burnt basque cheesecake instead. " - Sinéad Cranna

I love it! Service excellent, and as a Spanish missing home, I loved the food…. I was wanting to come for a few months already and finally I did, and will definitely come back… the omelettes were outstanding, the croquetas were delicious… i mean, nothing was wrong… thanks very much for creating such a good place and so affordable!!

Nice and relaxed atmosphere with cute interior. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food was good overall but the tortillas were nothing extraordinary. The original one with caramelised onions was by far the best. Good price but I would have liked something extra.

Really yummy and authentic food. The tortilla and huevos rotos we had were cooked to perfection, paired with a glass of sangria, we had the perfect lunch. It’s a it on the pricier side, everything came up to £22.55. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Note that the place gets packed fast, so plan your visit or book in advance.

Came here with a friend for an early evening dinner. I reserved ahead for 5:30pm and on arrival the restaurant was empty which was great because we could sit wherever we wanted and decided to sit against the back wall next to the window. The waiting staff were super friendly and attentive providing us with an explanation of the menu and dishes and the recommended order quantity and personal favourites. We decided to order some soft drinks, the kombucha and lemonade both of which were extremely refreshing. After eventually decided on what we wanted to eat the waiter took our order of which we ordered the bread, olives and alioli dip, croquetas, bikini (a really tasty chorizo and cheese toasted sandwich), a small chorizo tortilla and a small classic (caramelised onion) tortilla, all to share. All the food arrived as it was ready in very good time. All of it was excellent and we didn't really have anything to complain about. The small plates, both the croquetas and bikini were amazing! The bikini was something unique and would definitely recommend it, however I would say that more honey was needed as all the other flavours seemed to overpower any sweetness from it. Both the tortillas were decadently flavoured and textured with a luxurious melt-in-the-mouth feel. There was nothing we could fault with them! They were probably the best tortillas I've had anywhere outside of Spain. We were glad to have ordered the bread because they paired perfectly with them. Finally, we treated ourselves to dessert and got the chocolate mousse and burnt basque cheesecake which again were perfect and there were not complaints from us. Overall, if you want to try something different and have a craving for Spanish food that isn't tapas, then go here!

There are very, very few places in London with this type of value for money, specially for a restaurant near Oxford Street. We ate like kings including a Sangría 1L jug for less than £30 per person and basque cheesecake as dessert. If you don't drink alcohol and just want to have a main, then its going to be much cheaper. The star of the menu is a massive Tortilla omelette which for two people works less than £10 per person. Filling, simple, delicious. As a Spaniard, the actual gooey runny consistency is exactly as you would have in the traditional cafeterias in Spain. Just a slight criticism is the flavour, at least for the classic one: not exactly as you'll find in Spain, which I guess results from over-caramelising the onions to make it palatable for the British crowd, and therefore it tastes more like an egg omelette with a very subtle onion taste. But I guess that's my opinion because I do miss a bit of the crunchiness of the onion which you do find in tortillas around Spain. So I will recommend going for the ones with the add-ons, like jamón or courgettes then you'll find it tastier. Some people might also want to try the tapas selection. At first glance, since they only have 6 tapas to choose from, it may look short but omg, the things they have are cooked and prepared to perfection. César salad has actual grated manchego cheese and home made croutons and toasted garlic, which gives it a very distinct Spanish taste. Then you have the coliflower which is filling, and cooked perfectly. We also had the "chorizo" bikini sandwich which it's tasty and delicious. Just to note that it's not really made with chorizo , but with sobrasada, so people who don't like chorizo might be surprised they actually adore it. Sobrasada, which is different from chorizo, is a really soft, spread paste made with streaky bacon, pork loin and spices. It works perfectly for a bread sandwich since its milder than chorizo. I guess they've added that label for people to understand it, as outside of Spain sobrasada it's not as popular as chorizo. Small details like lamps in the restaurant have European plugs also made me smile, so owners have put a lot of love in the restaurant. You also should try the dips and sauces with your tortilla. For £1 extra you get delicious Ali olí and bravas sauce which goes perfectly. As dessert, I highly recommend the burnt basque cheesecake which is simple but baked absolutely perfectly with exact taste that you'll find in Bilbao. 10/10, would go again.

Authentic and delicious Spanish food. All the tapas that we had were very nice: potato omelette, broken eggs, croquetas... It was great to find out that they have the outstanding Alhambra 1925 beer. The service is top-notch with attentive staff. This is one of the best places to eat Spanish food in London. I felt like at home!
