17 Essential Restaurants in Marin County

"This former hunting lodge with a cozy bar and a stirred, never-shaken Manhattan has gemütlichkeit in spades. Diffused light from horn-shaped chandeliers and a kindled fire in the hearth reflects off burnished wood panels. Chef Robert Price stamps the time-honored American menu with an updated, seasonal style. Start with Oysters Bingo and smoked chicken wings, then choose a meaty protein (braised lamb shank or barbecued baby back ribs perhaps), before finishing off an epic meal with a slice of s’more pie, a.k.a. Marin’s favorite dessert." - Christina Mueller

Where To Eat Pie for Pi Day

"Road-trippers and Mill Valley locals have been flocking to this whitewashed Craftsmen Bungalow since 1937 for California-influenced American fare—think Oysters bingo over spinach, topped with garlic aïoli. The restaurant's dessert menu is short and sweet: slices of a lofty s'more pie or Key lime with a granola crust, or butterscotch crème brûlée." - Sophie Friedman

I have only been there twice, but they are two of the highest quality, most memorable meals I have ever had. The service has been top-tier, the seats and tables are comfortable, the booths are thoroughly gangster, and the dessert menu is off the chain. Now that they are serving brunch, I can see myself traveling up there from Half Moon Bay at least once a month. It is so darn good. I must ask what the heck you are doing reading this review when you could be eating at the Buckeye Roadhouse?

Google
Our first time at the Buckeye Roadhouse was a wonderful experience... Food was delicious! Service was attentive. Food was served in a timely manner. Oysters Bingo are fantastic! Similar to Oysters Rockefeller, these are a notch up in my opinion... Sorry my picture of the oysters was after they were eaten. They were so good I forgot to take a before picture!

Incredible smoked meat dishes and the best brisket I’ve had so far. The mac and cheese was also outstanding. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy some truly delicious meat.

I was really surprised by the amazing hospitality and quality of the food at Buckeye Roadhouse. Definitely recommended if you’re looking for traditional American cuisine. Try the onion rings!

Great quality consistent dishes! Okay, wine by the glass selection. Bottle wine starts at around $100. Good services and locally known for several decades. Living wage 4% charges. We adjusted our tips accordingly.

Google
Place gets busy even on a weekday, if you are making a trip or an outing I'd make reservations when possible. I was able to get a seat at the bar, and the service was great. Food was delicious and worth the value. I'd come back again

Food was so yummy! Steak was so juicy and tender. Service was also really good, staff was kind and humored. Would definitely comeback

We recently hosted a private luncheon for 45 guests, and the experience was absolutely seamless thanks to the extraordinary service provided by Rolando and Esmidio. From start to finish, they were gracious, friendly, and thoroughly professional. They anticipated guests’ needs for wine and cocktails with impressive attentiveness and responded to every request—big or small—without missing a beat. Throughout the event, they checked in frequently to make sure everyone was comfortable, glasses were topped up, and everything was running smoothly. The food was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of offerings that impressed even our most discerning guests. We received so many compliments on the flavor and quality of the dishes as well as the excellent wine selections. The setting on the upper level is gorgeous—filled with natural light streaming through the windows, especially lovely on a sunny day. As hosts, we got so many compliments on the event, and it's clear that the combination of beautiful surroundings, outstanding food, and the exceptional efforts of Rolando and Esmidio made it a true success. We’re incredibly grateful.

Yelp
After a long day of bump'n around Marin, going on hikes, we came to the ever so popular Buckeye Roadhouse for some delicious food. Thankfully, I had made a reservation weeks in advance, but parking was kind of stressful as we had to park across the road. Like the rest of the bay, while it looked fancy, Buckeye Roadhouse had very casual vibes, so there wasn't that much of a dress code. Food was very delicious and they were super accommodating to splitting up the entree by doing it themselves! Definitely highly recommended if you find yourself on this side of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Yelp
The manager did acknowledge our disappointing evening and provided a $200 credit on our meal. That was above and beyond. We were also invited back to rewrite this experience. We have not done so yet, but will give them another try. Peter: you continue to go beyond making things right. We'll absolutely be back again. Thank you for the personal reach out and response to my overdue updated review.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in the city (especially if someone else is paying)! The vibe feels very Old Hollywood, sexy steakhouse. Kind of like Craig's in West Hollywood, but with better food! I loved the red booths! The food was amazing - I loved my skirt steak so so much! The chimichurri was perfect and the truffle fries were 2 die for! Truly. My fiancé ordered the rib-eye, and not gonna lie, I thought my skirt steak was better. And lastly, the drinks! The dirty martinis with blue cheese olives were perfection! I would go back for the martinis alone, tbh! I asked for extra olives and they brought me 8 more!! HEAVEN. As for the price, it's pretty comparable to Hillstone except everything about Buckeye is better. LOVED it! Will be back very soon!

Yelp
Nice spot we keep driving by but never stop. Inside feels like an old school tavern with a nice warm feel, even though the fans blowing on the tables in the bar were a bit too high (and cold). Tried the calamari, pork chop, special cod (from Monterey bay). The overcooked, and somewhat chewy calamari had a nice crispy coating and that green chimichurri was excellent. The pork chop was spectacular as was the super tender and well executed cod. Almost like Chilean seabass! The sticky toffee pudding was also excellent. And we especially enjoyed the additional 4% "living wage" add-on to the bill. I personally feel this should be the restaurants responsibility to take care of and NOT the customer.

Yelp
Stopped by Buckeye Roadhouse for lunch and even without a reservation, we were seated quickly. Started with the black cod, then the smoked chicken wings - absolutely incredible with their homemade bbq sauce. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming!

Yelp
We went to Buckeye Roadhouse on a Friday night around 630pm without a reservation. The place was already very busy but we got a table in the bar area after 30-40 minutes. We ordered the oysters bingo and the Buckeye smoked chicken wings as appetizers, we then shared the skirt steak and the butter lettuce salad. For dessert we tried the S'more pie (very light and fluffy). Despite the restaurant being very busy our waitress Christy was very attentive and the food came relatively fast. The restaurant is tucked away at the exit of the highway. There's a small parking lot in front of the restaurant and more parking space across the street near the underpass. Highly recommend this place if you're visiting the area.

Yelp
Having dined there for at least one family members birthday celebration over the last 10 years, I apologize for not reviewing until now. Positives - the strong bar program, classic and creative cocktails well poured and a well curated offering of wines by the glass. Oysters Bingo (didn't have last night but reliably delicious), butter lettuce gem salad with blue cheese and the salmon and the ribs and the burger all are satisfying. That said - the special last night was the filet mignon beef stew ladled over Parmesan risotto and it was sublime, well suited to another cold and dreary evening. Our wait staff was professional and efficient and we enjoyed watching the bartenders in their element managing the long bar so efficiently, it's fun to watch when it's done well. Negatives - when I made the reservation on Open table, I put in comments that it was my partner's birthday and we'd never eaten at a table in the bar/lounge all these years, and could I please make a reservation there. I guess I should have called instead to confirm and secure, when we arrived, we were told those tables were all full (they were not, we could see that, no reserved signs either) and we were instead seated at a two top in the main dining room which would have been fine for any regular weekday dinner but for my partner's birthday request. We waited a few minutes and they were able to honor our request, but only after my partner intervened. Rare that we do that. We will return, but I guess we will need to call next time to make sure we can get a table in the bar instead of using an online service.

Yelp
Amazing vibes and drinks. Service is super attentive. Food is above average. This is definitely a great place to go for all occasions - date night, celebratory dinner, girls night out, etc. Love the interior design of this place. Taking off one star since we have never been seated on time with reservations so expect to wait for your table. It doesn't bug us too much since we just go to the bar and wait around. Overall, it's a nice place to go when in Marin

Yelp
We stumbled upon this gem while driving by, drawn in by the smoke coming from the chimney. A quick search showed great reviews, so we decided to give it a try--and I'm so glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and bingo oysters. The calamari was perfectly fried, and the oysters were packed with flavor--no slimy texture at all! The spinach on the oysters was balanced and didn't overpower the taste. I would definitely order them again. For entrees, we tried the filet with potatoes and spinach, ribs, brisket, and sweet potatoes. The filet was cooked exactly to preference tender and not overdone. The spinach was delicious, and the ribs were crispy with a perfectly glazed finish. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the sweet potatoes had just a hint of maple, offering flavor without being overly sweet. We all enjoyed every bite, and the service was fantastic it's a shame I didn't catch our waiter's name. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely stop by.

Yelp
All the hallmarks of excellence, but as time passes the classic roadhouse has faded. The idea of higher level service has all but fallen apart at this establishment. Severs interrupt, reach over the table with no regard. No finesse and no class. It's unfortunate. It's a rush to get you seated. It's a rush to get your order. It's a rush to get you out the door. Maybe it was just the night I was there, I'm certainly not taking family back here for a relaxing meal. The food is as it should be, the kitchen hasn't changed. We always get an Artichoke and Oysters. The Brisket is huge, we split it. Past visits have always been enjoyable, the service has always been amazing in the past. Gone are the old days. Bloody Marys are basic at best, they are strong. The Beer menu is sad, however, The wine list is tip top.

Yelp
Wow. This place is a classic. We had a great dinner this evening. The main room where we sat has a big stone fireplace and plenty of windows. We shared the Oysters Bingo, which are like a very rich version of oysters Rockefeller or Florentine. My husband ordered the pork chop and I had the brick chicken. The sides were interesting (polenta sticks, cauliflower) & they were as tasty as the main dishes. Well worth a stop.
google avatar

Natalie R.

Yelp
It was just alright. Not terrible. But I'd never go back. Service was just standard. Flat. Brisket was dry. Mashed potatoes were great. Pork chop was great, cauliflower was not good. Weird over seasoned, turmeric taste. Spicy pork sandwich was good, but the potatoes were again, over seasoned with some all spice type. Reported to taste kinda like a Doritos chip. Beautiful room but meh, obviously a tourist spot.

AL S.

Yelp
Baby back ribs undercooked (meat hard to bite off bone), calamari chewy (likely frozen), Brisket dish very dry and over-cooked, children's bow-tie pasta was extremely over-cooked (pasta almost mooshy and sauce tasted like it came out of a tin-can), Buffalo wings were completely naked (zero seasoning or flavor. They just threw a wing in the fryer and called it a day) Staff Service (non-existent) Not once did my server my table, "How is everything or how was your experience this evening?" The ambiance was a 9/10. Very classy and old school vibes! Fire hearth, marble floor at entrance, old wood wall interiors, and nostalgic memorabilia.

Yelp
The bacon wrapped petite filete mingon was great, and for a side I highly recommend the scalloped potatoes. It's a bit loud in the corner on the upper level, next time I'd like to try the main dining hall if it's available. Across the street in the big bus lot, under the freeway is lots of parking, check it out to see if it's totally legal to park there. I did at night.

Cris S.

Yelp
I've brought my family here many times over the years... Tonight I walked into the bar to grab a bite and a beer while my kids attended a birthday party. Food was great. Service was weird, then ugly. The bartender loudly asked to see my id, which is great because I wrote "check id" on my credit card, but the attitude and stink eye coming off the bartender even after seeing my id was so off putting people around looked at me and each other in shock. I wanted to puke my dinner all over the bar. Kinda wish I did. I suspect if you're of a certain ethnic persuasion you shouldn't expect to be treated well here.

Yelp
After passing by on the freeway my while life, I decided this was the place I wanted to go to celebrate my 65th birthday with my brothers and a friend. It's a beautiful restaurant, with a nice warm ambience. I ordered the steak with a side of spinach. Service was excellent and attentive. Cooked perfectly the steak was accompanied by little Bleu cheese stuffed potatoes. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. For my birthday treat, I was presented with a slice of their Smores Pie...Graham cracker crust with rich chocolate, topped with meringue that was toasted on top. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Does it get better than this . The Ambience is off the chain and or the bar . Even if you get the food to go , it sets the standard for the best fine dining at home in Marin . They never drop the ball . The brisket is Wowzers .the Mac n cheese with ham dreamy . The split pea soup best ever ever made. You can't top any of their desserts. Top restaurant in southern Marin .

Yelp
Make a reservation, it's pretty easy to do and will save you waiting 1.5 hours for a table. This is a fun place to come. The ambience is sort of urban Ahwahanee, fire going in the fireplace, antlers on the wall, the crowd seems to skew a bit older but is lively and relaxed. Some people were dressed up, we had sweatshirts and sneakers, it was all accommodated equally. Ask for a downstairs table if you can, upstairs is still fine but not as grand as the first level. We were split on our food satisfaction. Skirt steak, Wedge salad, Pork sandwich were all loves. Chicken wings and Filet mignon were good. Our waiters were efficient, if not especially personable. My water glass was never less than half full. The appetizers came out very quickly but it was a rather long wait for mains. The parking lot was self parking but apparently sometimes there is required valet, which seems odd as we do not live in LA. Everyone wanted to come back again. We were too full for dessert but they looked tempting and big enough to share.

Yelp
This place is legendary! You walk into the Buckeye and you're instantly thrown back into a cozy lodge from 100 years ago! The staff are top notch professionals and treat you like guests in their own home. My last visit Christy took care of us and my group had a wonderful time. The steaks are all great but I love the ribeye and the smoked brisket is special! They have a house made BBQ sauce which does great with the skinny cut onion ring hay stack. They have so many dishes to choose from and I haven't had a bad experience yet. Their potatoes side are all amazing. The scalloped potatoes are my favorite but last time I went with the mashed potatoes instead and they were creamy and delicious. Try one of their signature cocktails or have a Pliny the Elder. And make sure to save room for dessert!! If you live within 100 miles from Mill Valley get yourself a reservation to the Buckeye!

Yelp
I had a good time here. The Moscow mule was zesty and it actually came in a copper cup. The atmosphere can be loud, but this restaurant is popular. It was busy here, so it did take a little longer for the waiter to take our order or even to give me some water. The ahi tuna was quite good and very filling. I highly recommend the artichoke dip.
google avatar

PaHoua L.

Yelp
I've eaten here twice now and have not been disappointed with the service, ambiance, or flavor of the food. The onions rings come in a big mound and are thinly sliced and crispy. The polenta sticks are deep fried and amazing. The tuna melts in your mouth and the dressing on the salad is so tasty. Two of my companions ordered the liver dish and said it was incredible. Others in my party ordered the ribs and steak -- delicious all around. Two of us ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I thought the fries were crispy and salted just right, the coleslaw was really good and I normally don't like coleslaw, and the sandwich itself had a great bun and the pulled pork had good flavor. I didn't have dessert this time, but the last time I came, our group ordered maybe 4-6 desserts to share among us, and I remember everything was scrumptious. I was just overstuffed this time and unable to move forward with dessert. The drinks are great. You won't be disappointed with any of the options! I had just 1 cocktail and it was all I needed. There is a paved lot and a dirt lot out front. If parking is full, which it usually is during dinner, you can park across the street. Bathrooms are clean and at least the women's restroom has an almost full length mirror. The interior of the restaurant has a classic, historical look and feel. The exterior has beautiful flowers and greenery, as well as garden lights that come on in the evening. Make a reservation! Lastly, this place is on the pricey side, so save it for a special occasion.

Yelp
Came here after work to celebrate a friend/coworkers birthday. I reserved our dinner reservation on line from "open table" and it was so easy to set that up. I got a reminder email about my reservation and that's was really nice. We came right after work and I felt as if we were under dressed, but none of the staff made us feel like that. As soon as we walked in we got welcomed and seated immediately. We had a super nice waitress that gave us all great food recommendations. She was so patient with us. The location of the restaurant is so nice, it's almost hidden and almost a very pretty secret. Inside it's an almost completely different world. As soon as you walk in it's the bar (a bit louder and a bit more crowded) then you can go left and that's the restaurant more space and quieter. There's an upstairs part of the restaurant. The food was delicious and I loved being there and enjoying it with my friends. I can't wait to come back

Yelp
Yummy salad, good brisket too. Nice atmosphere. Waitress was very nice too. Felt like a locals place. Very conscience for way back to sfo.

Yelp
Beautiful Christmas dining experience. The Buckeye Roadhouse knows how to make a girl feel like royalty, serving up steak perfection after a day of holiday shopping and girl therapy. Open since 1937, Buckeye Roadhouse is the best Marin County and is as historic as the Golden Gate bridge. It's a magical mix of old World charm and modern American cuisine make it a wonderful and memorable dining experience. . We enjoyed the: Polenta Sticks, Portobello Mushroom Crostini, Wedge Salad, Artichoke dish, Marinated Skirt Steak, and Smoked beef Brisket. -Wonderful and welcoming service. -Private Parking lot.

Yelp
Hello yelpers, Took my girlfriend to dinner at the buckeye on the way back north from the city. The food was great, just it took a little long for it to come out. The place was very busy. Ambience was good. I would say it's an older crowd for sure. Felt like my service could've been a little better, but feel since we were a younger couple we weren't prioritized. Overall it was a good experience though, I would probably give it another chance.
google avatar

Tonya G.

Yelp
It was my first time going, and it was my birthday. Amazing food, and the ambience. Loved our server even when we had a problem with the pasta being too sweet. He definitely helped us choose something else for our daughter. Thank you for an amazing birthday dinner.

George K.

Yelp
The food has always been very good here overall. Portions sizes on the smaller side but you expect that for nicer places. Unfortunately service can ruin it. Today while ordering for myself and date the waiter kept doing weird little power plays. He also put his index finger on the part of the plate that one eats off and turned the plate towards me so the fork was lined up (intrusive and unnecessary not to mention the main thing UNHYGENIC) This makes me question the protocols and training as it was almost in the center of my plate! I arrived in a great mood and left there annoyed after spending quite a bit on dinner.

Yelp
Even though I grew up in Marin, I didn't get to try Buckeye Roadhouse until about 5 years ago. I have several times since, including celebrating two birthdays there including my most recent 50 birthday lunch in January. *Food: *Appetizer: Onion Rings, so yummy, but a little tricky to eat. The dipping sauce was exceptional, these would be good on top of a steak or a baked potato, they are like onion strings, not a typical thick ring *Brisket: I have ordered the brisket at least 3 times that we have come here and are never disappointed, juicy brisket, the potatoes are to die for and the sauce pulls it all together *Zoe's Cobb Salad with Shrimp: A lot of blue cheese, but the shrimp were outstanding *Pulled Pork Sandwich: Delicious French Fries and Pulled Pork, big enough to share *Desserts: We couldn't decide, so we shared a Coconut Cream Pie and our waiter was nice enough to send us home with the birthday "S'More Pie", since we were quite full at that point. Ambiance: The walkway up to the restaurant is like a little garden vibe with flowers and plants, great pic op, inside is homey and like a rustic lodge vibe with a huge fireplace in the main dining area downstairs, we requested a window booth seat, which they accommodated. Check them out, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I returned to this restaurant on a Friday night. I received great service; the bartender remembered my drink, and I did not have to pack my to-go bag. Thanks for a great service! Sincerely, Janet

Yelp
Everything was super top notch including the waitress. I loved the shrimp salad and my hamburger was perfection.

Yelp
Always an outstanding experience. One of Marin's two best restaurants, without a doubt. From the first sip of your cocktails to the last decadent spoonful of dessert, every dish is consistently excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
So, first, I read the reviews prior to arrival. Perhaps a mistake in our case. Read where some folks of color felt they were seated upstairs in the back corner. And we walk in & my family(of color) & I got seated on the top floor in the far corner... So that's how we started. My cousins came to the table and asked why are we crammed upstairs in the far corner? They've eaten here lots of times, never were seated upstairs (they are not of color) All the employees seemed really nice. However when they split our bill, they added $40 to our bill. Nope, didn't drink enough to not be able to add! Our food was good. Lamb shank was great! We'd never heard of this place before our cousins suggested it. I probably, now, know why.
google avatar

Howie Y.

Yelp
Do you still have your duck? It used to be my favorite dish there...unfortunately I moved away from the area and only recently moved back.

Yelp
Reflecting, so happy I could enjoy a meal with my beloved Grandmother Barb while she was in her healthier years.
google avatar

Jimmy A.

Yelp
This place should be a oeefect score: amazing micatjon with views , great drinks , world class food and ambiance / charm for miles! Whats missing? Service and that has been an issue for 20 years. No exception on this recent occasion. They were polite but slow, broke glasses on the table, messed up more than one order and so on. The food was great ...artichokes, sole, steak and the Chicken salad. The old fashioned is made with eagle rare, manhattan was also great. The dining room felt warm and inviting. Maybe someday they will get to five.
google avatar

Heather A.

Yelp
I'd like to comment on the hostess that helped us get a different table than what we were originally reserved for, two times! Her name is Alyssa and she was very sweet and accommodating despite the extremely busy time (New Years Eve). You could tell she enjoys Hospitality, she'd be a great manager, I think. The food was great. Oysters bingo is my favorite there. Great salad, great filet mignon. Warm and cozy ambience. Only think is the fireplace gives off a butane smell, which is why we asked to Move (our table was right in front of it)
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Phenomenal! From the moment we walked in until we left. Everything we ordered was amazing! Fran is such a knowledge sommelier! He brought out a few wines my mom loved. We started off with the salad and hamachi(not sure), and artichoke. Wow!!! We could've stopped there, but ordered some mains. Salmon was 10/10 probably my favorite on the table. The steak was cooked to perfection. Perfect sear.
google avatar

Tiffany V.

Yelp
Had been recommended this place for a while by one of my coworkers so my mom and I came here to give it a try. Even though I had never been here, I passed it so many times on my way to Stinson. We went around 3 & we checked in with the host, who then asked us if we had any reservations which we said no. The host then told us if we could eat and finish within 45 minutes, we could sit due to dinner reservations. It was also pretty empty when we got there, and still pretty early. In all my visits to a restaurant, I've never been told this which honestly left a very sour taste in our mouth. We decided to try anyways. Other than that, the food was good and our server was super attentive & had really good recommendations to give on appetizers & entrees.
google avatar

Susan A.

Yelp
This was my place to go for my birthday or anniversary! But they took off one of my favorites foods which was the lamb shank. My main to go dishes were oysters bingo, lamb shank and of. Course there s'mores!! I hope they bring back the dish so I can go back again. Besides that the service and the atmosphere is amazing.

Yelp
Wish I could give this place higher ratings. We came here yesterday, had a reservation for 5:15pm, but called to say we were running late. They were able to accommodate us for 6pm, and we arrived on time for our updated reservation. So far things are looking good. The parking lot is a mess, but we were able to find parking surprisingly. Didn't see the free valet that was mentioned in the reviews. So we get to the restaurant, and they have a table waiting for us. Now this is when things go downhill. We have a party of 5 adults and 1 toddler. They decide to seat us at the table on the 2nd floor right at the staircase opening. There's like maybe 1-2 feet between the chairs and the staircase, so obviously can't risk toddler sitting by the chairs closest to the stairs. The innermost chairs are in this staircase balcony area, which appeared at first, to be safe for toddler. So we decide to seat him there. Now, he's a toddler and he wants to run around before sitting, especially as all the other adults decide to go to the bathroom first. The staircase bannister in the balcony area is spaced wide enough that toddler body can slip through the railing. This is super super super dangerous. Good thing I had caught him before he slipped his whole body through and fell (I had only taken my eyes off him for like a brief second so I could put all my stuff down). So now I am shaken up by a near accident and ask for another table. Now I understand that there are other reservations etc, but there was another table nearby same size but plated for 8 guests instead of our 6. They wouldn't seat us there. Instead, told us to give them 5 min and they had another table downstairs ready. So we go downstairs, and the 5 min end up being 30 min. Meanwhile, there were other tables that were open that could have accommodated us - and vacant for at least 1 hr. So after we finally get seated, we order our food. One couple in our party really loved the duck - I thought the duck sauce was odd tasting - not really sweet but not sour/balsamic tasting either. Oyster bingo was pretty good, but on the saltier side. Calamari was chewy... toddler usually eats this but he couldn't chew this and spat it out. On the plus side, kids menu burger was humongous and a good deal for 12$. It was husband's birthday, and per reviews, seems like they provide some candle or dessert, but this wasn't offered - no big deal, but would have been a nice touch. Service itself was really slow, so we didn't ask for dessert menu either since it was getting really late and we still had to make the one hr drive home. Bill came out to 330$ before tip for 5 adults and 1 toddler. To summarize... wasn't impressed, would not go back.

Yelp
We haven't eaten here before but the food seems to be better. Everything we ordered was good. Plus the service was also good. The restaurant had an elegant rustic feel and was very nice. I also liked the nature surrounding the restaurant. It felt calming. We will be back again.

Yelp
Arrived on a rainy Sunday night for a girls dinner. I made sure to make reservations ahead of time, as this place gets packed! We sat upstairs overlooking the main dining area below which we preferred away from the busyness. For appetizers, we ordered prosciutto beignets and onion rings. We all ordered pear martinis and then a round of lemon drops. These drinks are strong but very good! For my main, I shared the bacon wrap petite filet mignon. I'm glad I shared, as even the half portion was borderline too filling. They split the filet dinner for us which was really nice. For dessert, we had the baked lemon pudding which is probably one of my all time favorite desserts. I've never had anything like it.

Yelp
BEWARE- boyfriend and i got food poisoning from the brisket! My skirt steak was delicious, but then our toffee sticky cake was really subpar and dry.

Yelp
I came here for a burger, which was voted number #1 in Marin, and ended up ordering three menu items, which were the burger, mushrooms, and polenta sticks, none of which I can recommend for the hefty price tag; this place is not worth the time or money. The ambiance is a bar saloon for alpha male grandpas who enjoy trading war stories with strangers who are uninterested in listening. The female server had a strong character but was very informative and provided excellent customer service, although she seems like the type to go off on someone when she is angry; she treated me very fairly which made for a splendid interaction. 3.5 stars?

Yelp
Buckeye is certainly a special place. With its abundance of lacquered wood, leather seating, white tablecloths, and dim lighting, it gives out an old-classic, luxury feel, which immediately submerges you into the past. And not to mention an amazing smell of the firewood the second you enter. Overall: great experience and worth the visit. I will definitely return. - Service: 5 - Price: 3.5 - Food: 4. Appetizers were okay. The famous Oysters Bingo were too rich and cheesy to my taste. Calamari were overcooked and the portion was small (I would skip); onion strings were good, but under-seasoned if eaten without a sauce). However, the mains were executed perfectly which is what won me over: ribeye, pork chop, bacon wrapped petite fillet (although fillet was a bit salty). The pork chop is probably one of the best I've ever had - highly recommend. Deserts were okay, too sweet (bday meringue and key lime - I would skip both. - Cocktails: 4. Mostly classic selection. The gin martini was too strong to my likings, but the paper plane was delicious) - Ambiance: 4.5. The decor is amazing. But it gets quite loud in the main room. It feels like there are too many tables that are too close to each other which creates this never-ending hum. So if the goal is to have an intimate conversation on a busy night, the noise maybe a problem) Tip: if noise bothers you, ask to be seated in a corner booth of the main floor or upstairs

Yelp
Came here for holiday dinner & it sure is homey! The service was great and the food didn't disappoint. The house bread was so soft & fluffy, absolutely addicting. We ordered calamari, prosciutto beignets, Rockefeller oysters, and mushroom toast. All of the dishes were so unique and tasty in their own ways. I got the lamb shank & mash potatoes and the lamb was so tender and soft, fell right off the bone. They have a hefty amount of their creamy mash potatoes. My sister got the shrimp salad and the vinaigrette was so light and didn't over power the rest. My mom got a burger & garlic fries. She enjoyed her burger and loved her fries. The portion is huge and the sauces it came with are phenomenal. Didn't have a high expectation coming into here given i'm not a huge fan of bbq, but it was exceptionally tasty! Would come back :)

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I went to roadhouse many many years ago and just went recently with friends. Wow did we love the food! Everything was great better than expected. Winner winner chicken!
