Bucksnort Trout Ranch

Bucksnort Trout Fishing is currently closed as of October of 2019. They may re-open at some point again in the future. However, when they were opened, I enjoyed not having to drive that far out to trout fish. They cleaned freshly caught fish on premises. Although I'm sure that many anglers feel they can clean their fish with no problem & for gratis!

I had an incredible time with my son's there on Father's Day. Definitely check the weather before you get out there and bring extra food there are no restaurants near that location ececpt for the gas station, they do make great cold meat sandwiches! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful they do supply equipment. is best to bring your own GEAR so you can teach your kids the art of knoting your lines..Plan ahead, enjoy time with your family bring a canopy and chairs and a water melon! Even the most novice fisherman will catch at least one fish if you haven't at least caught one fish not to worry they supply loads of fish for you to take home! They will fillet them I actually got some filets and pan seared them that night it was delicious !! These are the same fish you'll find in many of the fine restaurants in Nashville! Next time I go I'll probably bring home at a couple of whole fish and grill them ! Have fun and FISH ON!!!

This place was beautiful and clean. Got some good trout there and the people were very nice.

The year was 1977, and my father and I visited the bucksnort, all the way from Shreveport Louisiana. I was 10, and had never seen a trout. We fished with mepps spinners and filled an icechest. Those trout were delicious. I still have a polaroid of me catching one. I looked today to see if the ranch was open so that I could bring my 10 year old son, but sadly it is closed. How I wish that we could visit.

Fantastic fish! We have now gotten in the habit of picking up trout almost every week at the East Nashville farmers market. They are normally caught that morning and just about as fresh as you can get it. Trout also has a wide range of cooking flavors and methods.

Great place. Easy access from I-40 (5 minutes). Well maintained facility and grounds. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. They cater to kids and groups and no experience first timers. They supply everything - just show up.

I picked up some of Bucksnort's smoked rainbow trout at the local farmers market and now regret not buying them out. By far the best smoked fish I've ever had.

"Trout that was swimming yesterday" is the sign that caught my eye at the Murfreesboro, TN Saturday Farmer's Market. I love trout. My family does not. So when I can get my hands on the fresh stuff, I grab it. This review is not based on a visit to the ranch, it is on the food. It is also about the man who staffs the pop-up on The Square. Not much to say about ambiance - it IS an outdoor market, which I guess is fun. It would not be fair to rate this food on one visit, so I waited until I could try several products. Those were smoked trout, the "dip" and fresh. All three were "home runs" as far as I was concerned. He frequently sells out so my first fare was the smoked. It was very good. In fact, it was probably the best commercial smoked trout I could get. Now I brag. The only better smoked trout I had was when I smoked it myself, and it was just hours out of the water. Calling the product a "dip" is a misnomer. It is a spread. No chip could survive a journey through it because it is that firm. One container only lasted a day i my house as I gobbled it up and spread it on wonderful crackers. Balanced between fish, smoking and the dairy, it was excellent. Just above, I bragged about my ability to smoke trout. Well, honestly, I am a very good home chef when it comes to fish. Not only do guests enjoy my preparations, I have prepared catering dishes for up to 120 people. Many compliments have ensued. I am careful to not overcook fish. You can actually serve high quality fish medium rare. This trout was so fresh, if I wanted to, I could have served as sushi or sashimi. Baking it (NEVER poaching), it came out perfect. But this review is not about my ability, it is of the fish. Just recently, I have discovered the different flavor profiles of different parts of the animal. This trout enabled me to do so. There was a wonderful pocket of belly fat that just blew me away. As far as service, the one man show selling at the market is amiable and really seems to enjoy introducing his fish to the public. I see many more visits to his booth when the market returns in the spring.

Picked up 2 pack of rainbow trout at the East Nashville Farmers Market and glad I did! The size of the dressed trout were a good portion and great to prepare for dinner. Since it's hard to find fresh seafood here in Nashville, I will buy my trout from Bucksnort again and will also check out the the smoked trout dip the next time.

I visited Bucksnort Trout Ranch over the summer when my parents came to town on a friends recommendation. My dad is an avid fisherman and really wanted to take my daughter fishing. After a 45 min drive we arrived. Now when you arrive you still have about an mile drive va k into the woods which was really neat! The family that were operating this trout farm were so wonderful and helpful. The provide all needs poles and fish food and my dad was able to take his granddaughter fishing. At the end they will clean and filet your fish and pack them in ice for you. I have even seen Bucksnort trout at some of the fancier dining establishments here in Nashville! Great experience!

First time going this past Saturday! We started fly fishing in the Smokies a couple years ago...and still learning. This place is a great place to practice casting and hooking your trout...and...you get to take the fish with you! They aren't tiny ones you catch in the Smokies...they are decent size! We had a great time...we cooked it that night...and they tasted great! No fishy smell...just some yummy goodness! Thank you guys!!

It's under new ownership. Tons of fun for the family. Beautiful outdoor landscape. Right off the interstate. My little girl loved seeing so many fish. She easily caught one. Their set up is great! Say hi to the new owner, Jim, if you see him. He's awesome!
