"A vestige of the Korean American presence remains alive in downtown Flushing with the opening of Bunsik. The new restaurant doles out generous portions of Korean street food. Here, nearly every table has an order of rosé tteokbokki: chewy cylinders of tteok and sheets of fish cake slathered in a sauce of gochujang and cream. The various versions of kimbap are filled with more fixings than rice. Order the kkaenip (perilla leaf) as an add-on for a slightly vegetal finish. The ketchup bap omurice will make any Korean adult’s inner child happy." - Caroline Shin, Eater Staff

HIDDEN GEM!! Came here on two separate occasions, friend tried Korean food for the first time and she loved it 😝 We were seated quick, food is gas and chill vibes! Super nice and attentive staff as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the seafood cream udon🤌🤌 (on the sweeter side)

Great service & delicious food! I love this place because it’s not crowded so they don’t rush you out the door (but they have healthy load of online orders) and the server is very attentive. If they get the order wrong, they will make it right for you. I love how the food is very flavorful. We’ve tried the rose rice cake, Kim bop, seafood pancake, tofu soup, ranyum & steamed egg. All delicious! I come to this place every time we come to Flushing.

The seaweed side dish was so crisp and refreshing but not too ocean briney. The server welcomed and talked to everyone in such a way you would only do if you liked your job.

I loved this place! The food was amazing and the staff was great. There was a friendly young lady serving us and she was so kind!! 😭🫶 (thank you!!) I enjoyed the crabmeat roll and my creamy seafood udon the most - I’m still thinking about it tbh. I’ll have to come back for them, but I’m also excited to try other items on the menu. There were complimentary miso soup at the beginning of our meal and a free korean cookie at the end (which was really yummy too). 10/10 food, service, and staff. I’d come back again! ^-^

We ordered the Curry Pork Katsu, hamburger steak, and tofu beef stew. The order came with radish and kimchi side dish. First impressions we were surprised about how little rice they gave with our meal. But the waitress came and gave us extra rice and side dishes after finishing the first round. The tofu stew was more on the sweeter side, and the katsu was very hard to cut up, while the Hamburger steak was done very well, it was also quite salty. Nonetheless this place is a very hole in the wall spot, not much customers so they’re not ever in a rush to kick customers out. The waitress is very up beat, greeting customers as they enter and exit the establishment. Overall very happy with service and food.

Google
Food was excellent. The portion size was filling. Bulgogi had a good ratio of beef. Onions also had good flavor. Fried Squid imo was also really delicious. But it was expensive for the quantity provided.

Google
Very delicious food! The staff was very friendly and they were able to accommodate us and make many dishes vegetarian. The restaurant itself was nice, trendy and cozy and was playing a good selection of songs. We got the rose rice cakes and the curry udon and it was so delicious. The portions are kinda big too! The prices were very reasonable as well and they had a great selection to choose from. I would def come back with a bigger group of friends next time I’m in the area!

Visited this restaurant about a month ago since it was conveniently located where my party and I were having our outing. As it was their grand opening (opened for only 2 weeks when we were there in mid-May), we weren't sure what to expect and we were the only customers there as well. The menu offered an extensive range of delectable choices and we were pleasantly surprised to find how cheap everything was. Additionally, our waitress was extremely friendly and to our delight, the drinks were on the house as part of the grand opening celebration! We ended up ordering a variety of dishes, including the spicy rice cake with ramyun noodles ($13), buldock roll ($8), kimchi fish cake udon ($14), bibimbab ($13), baby octopus over rice ($15) and ramyun ($8.50). Every dish was delicious and we had no complaints. Food was definitely worth the price and so I took some rolls to-go! Overall, we had a wonderful experience and I will definitely be returning in the future should I be in the area.

Yelp
This morning, I called Bunsik and asked an employee about my food allergy question. My family and I decided to try Bunsik for the first time today. The ambiance was perfect for brunch, lunch, and dinner dates. Complimentary Hot Tea Banchan Food *sharing is caring* N4. Seafood Ramyun (Less Spicy) - The delicious ramyun came in a stone bowl with broth, mussels, shrimp, squid, bean sprouts, and scallions. R10. Beef Over Rice (Less Spicy) F4. French Fries - I was disappointed with the french fries because they weren't crispy. N16. Curry Cream Udon - The udon was creamy with every slurp. One word: Scrumptious Lunch Combo (Monday to Friday 12 PM - 3 PM) Combo D Squid - The spicy stir-fry squid was delicious. + Spicy Kimchi Tofu Soup Bookmark this spot to try!

Yelp
I've yet to do a sit down meal but I've done several take out meals and never disappoints. I usually order ahead on one of the food apps to save time given my orders are often large. The food is always packed with care and super organized. No spillage and no leaky containers. They know to separate sauces and soups without asking. Love their thoughtful packaging! Already have a few favorites even though it's not my favorite in this street food genre, it's been a consistent and reliable dish each time. Must try/the kiddos like: the omelette rice - since is already mixed into the rice which is unlike the other spots I've had so if you don't like it that way, you've been told! Egg is quite well done so it's not silky but if you're a fan of eggs any time, any meal, it's fine any way it's cooked. - the pork cutlets with or without cheese. I've had it both ways and love the gravy sauce it is paired with. The entree comes with cabbage, pickled radish and rice, all packed in a bento style platter. - the fried fish entree is another generous entree with 3-4 pieces of fish depending on the size. Very meaty and good Street food, comes with tartar sauce on the side. Corn, rice and cabbage slaw as well plated in a platter style container. These entrees are an excellent value. - the japchae and variety of rice triangles are my go to take out requests as well. Good for sharing and for appetizers so that's why we always get them. Please excuse my terrible photos because I thought I had Yelped before and it turns out I was in a mad rush. I'm sure the sit down table service is a very different experience given the TV's playing Korean cooking and K-pop videos while you eat. Fun bar vibes too! Great casual spot for drinking and eating more Street food!

Yelp
Located a block away from both Northern Blvd and Main St (long block) in Downtown Flushing. Very casual place, still with Halloween decor (i guess why not :)) We were seated at the longest table, separated by tall partitions so when we needed something, had to stand up to be seen. The only person there was nice, and would come right away, and did check on us. Added points for this. Seafood ramyun had a shrimp still in shell, small pcs of shrimp and squid, but the one mussel in it was not even opened. For me, the broth was still spicy (even when asked for less) so I only had the noodles/toppings. It was ok but will not get again. Spicy pork with onions over rice was ok. Not too spicy was good for me. The cutlet combo had hamburg steak (meat still juicy), cutlet (bit dry), and fried fish (crispy). Cheese pork cutlet had 2 pcs, topped with melted cheese, usually with gravy but we asked for none. Was good. Aside for ramyun, dishes had rice, small cabbage salad and corn. Pickled radish, kimchi, and sweet/vinegary greens were also served.

Yelp
I have been sad my entire trip on New York, after eating this it felt like I am a whole new person. Thank you for making good food, the last place I went to tasted weird and the food was all frozen food being heated up. This udon is amazing and perfect. I didn't go here in real life, I ordered. The place is nice as well.

Matt A.

Yelp
My friends and I ate here a few days ago and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience so I thought I would write about it and support a restaurant in my area. The food here was pretty good it definitely exceeded expectations. We got the seafood cream udon, eel roll seafood pancake, and spicy beef over rice. I would say the appetizers were pretty standard but I was pleasantly blown away with the entrees. I thought the food here was actually really good the service was fast and I felt like for the price especially for the price the food was really worth it. I think I wouldn't order the appetizers again but I would also chalk it up to an off day and just you know give it my best shot. I thought the service here was really good the place itself was tucked away very calming atmosphere and they absolutely deserve more business.

Yelp
Had this for Uber Eats and out of the nearby Korean fast food options, this would probably be the one I reach out least to. I got their Pork Katsu Roll and Chicken Roll. The Pork Katsu one was way better, but both had a peculiar rice pellets where something about the texture was just off to me. Their Fish Cake Soup was also MSG heavy and salty where I needed to gulp down water after.

Howard H.

Yelp
There's nothing like Korean student/comfort food when you're in the mood. The Bunsik has what you crave, cutlets, kim bap, onigiri, ramen and rice cakes all at a reasonable price. The decor is more like a bar/lounge than a restaurant but it's comfy enough. Food here is pretty good - fresh and tasty. The eel kim bap was freshly rolled and tasted good although they skimped on the eel. It was mostly veggies. Katsu was good - fish was fried well and the tartar sauce was a great complement while the hamburg was soft and tasty. Pork katsu was a bit dry but the sauce was tangy and paired well with the meat. Rice is just a tiny scoop but I didn't mind that. Some might. Service was friendly but a tad slow. Not really an issue since the vibe of the place was chill. Good place in downtown Flushing if you're looking for this type of Korean food.

Judith A.

Yelp
I always go for the tteok-bokki which is very delicious. Also very welcoming service and delicious food!

Chelsea Z.

Yelp
Came into this tucked away newly opened place on a whim. Ambiance is great for casual hangout or even a date. And the owner(?) or server was super sweet. Prices are friendly for the wallet given the great service and ample portion sizes. My favorite was the bimbap and the chicken wings. Docked a star for omurice because of the texture - it tasted not like other omurices maybe this is supposed to be Korean style only?

Francine Y.

Yelp
Service was great and fast. Server was so friendly and food was good. Going to come back soon to try more items on the menu. Korean street food and beer is on point. Pork cutlet udon had good flavor, my cousin loved his Hamburg steak so much he scarfed it down so fast along with his Kloud beer. Location is great, close to buses, public parking lot and 7 train.

Amy C.

Yelp
Dined in on a Thursday night and it was fairly empty. The host was very energetic and welcoming. Spicy squid over rice (4/5) - well cooked squid and sautéed onions and veggies coated in a flavorful spicy and savory sauce. I would recommend the spicy squid and pork over rice!

Matt L.

Yelp
Service was incredibly friendly and caring about what we ate. The portions feel pretty large and the prices are pretty standard compared to other Korean restaurants in the region. The cheese pork katsu, I thought, was a great deal. Two huge pork cutlets with a scoop of rice to go with the sauce. Though I wish I had more rice to pair with the pork, I certainly was more than full by the end of the dish. Spicy tuna roll is spicier than your average kimbap, so go for it if you enjoy spice. Vegetable fried rice was aromatic with the fragrance and taste of sesame oil.

Dana H.

Yelp
Great food and quick take out experience. I got their omelet rice and eel roll for takeout, and while it was a bit hard to locate because the windows were tinted, the food was really good. The omelet rice had a stronger tomato flavor to it but was well made. Their eel roll was also good, but I ended up not finishing it since I was so full. When I got there at around 930 pm, there were 2 tables seated, and the food looked really great. I do wish it was a bit easier to locate since from the outside, it looked closed. I wouldn't have found it if not for the bright neon open sign. Otherwise, great food so far. I look forward to having a sit down meal here!

Holly C.

Yelp
My go to place for easy simple Korean food! Their kimbap selection is almost endless and their other comfort food options are pretty solid! Went there for both dine in and ordered delivery - dine in is pretty easy as it does seem to be hidden from the main areas of flushing, but don't let how empty it is intimidate you. It's one of my favorite hole in the walls and you're guaranteed to find good food.

Anthony L.

Yelp
Delicious food alert! Bunsik is a new Korean restaurant in Downtown Flushing. This place is great! Located in a nice quaint building with a storefront that you just can't ignore. And then the interior design is very unique and allows for a very comforting environment. Now onto the food: Spicy tuna kimbap (5/5): this kimbap was just amazing. The spicy tuna filling was plentiful and extremely flavorful. On top of that, there was just a perfect layer of rice, not too much. And if you care about price, it's $1-2 less than others in flushing and taste is on par. Cutlet combo (4/5): can you even go wrong with this dish. The pork cutlet was pretty standard and good. The Hamburg was better than most places and had a nice amount of juiciness to each bite. And the fish was a little on the smaller side but the meat was very chunky and the batter was light and crispy. Rice cakes with chewy noodles (5/5): these rice cakes are more on the sweeter side which I personally prefer. And they give so much... it was a pleasant surprise. This includes a hefty servicing of chewy noodles which gave another texture to the meal. Service was friendly and accommodating. Overall, a fantastic experience and I am definitely coming back. This place is worth the visit!

Gerardine R.

Yelp
Wanted to try this spot and this did not dissapoint. They have an assortment of things on their menu and the prices were really reasonable. Food was tasty and really filling. Staff was really nice and attentive. We will def be back!

Mel K.

Yelp
Decent Korean fast food restaurant. Dumplings good but I would pass on the chicken fried rice. Too oily and not enough veggies.

Susie W.

Yelp
Overall, the food was very delicious! The service was super pleasant and fast and the vibe at the store was very chill :) I got the cutlet combo, which was 5/5 and there was a lot of meat to go around. The spicy tuna kimbap was packed with the filling and actually was spicy, which is a plus! Lastly, the spicy ricecake with the chewy noodles was on the sweeter side but still had a kick and very filling. There was so much quantity of it, to the point it felt like it never ended no matter how much I ate I would recommend this place for a friendly outgoing or even a simple date cause the price is also very affordable

Yelp
I've walked pass this place maybe a handful of times, but never really looked inside or the anything... . It's very similar to kimganae and chungmoo on Union... offering kimbab, rice dishes, rice cakes, fried foods, ramyun, noodle soups, and some western/fusion dishes. . Kimganae is good, but I think it was better pre pandemic. while they list it closes at 9, the kitchen is closed before that. Also, their seating is very tight, no space in between, definitely just and quick bite and no time to chat and eat in there... time is money for them... . Chungmoo - I like their food but I don't like that they don't have table service. They have self seating but when it's hot, it too hot to eat there. No AC or ventilation. . This is not the case at @bunsik_ny - they have nice/comfy/spacious seating, AC game pretty strong for this hot summer we are having, opens late(r) and they serve alcohol. . Everything we have ate there has been really good. They make really good kimbap, maybe the best in the downtown flushing area... . Omurice - it was very tasty, but for those who don't like ketchup, maybe you won't like it, the rice is coated with ketchup, so it's tangy and sweet. They fry the egg with butter so you taste the better. The fried egg was pretty thick and kept intact when you cut through it. Also, a pet peeve of mine is when restaurants use frozen veggies in their dishes, and they don't cook it thoroughly, where they are still hard to bite into, but not the case here, the carrots and peas were cooked long enough where it was soft... . Ramyun- who doesn't love a hot/noodle dish cooked and served in an earthen ware pot? For me, I love my noodles/soups piping hot and this kept the dish hot for awhile... . Pork Cutlet and Hamburg Rice Platters - also good, and they give you very good portions of the protein.. trust me, you won't leave there hungry... . Do check them out if you like Korean fast/comfort food..

Helen G.

Yelp
Thumbs up to the kimbap. Excellent service from the owner. We haven't been there for a few months and decided to try the newer dish on the menu today. Hot stone bimbimbap looked excellent. However, the bottom of the bowl had wayyy too much oil. The rice was pretty much soaked in oil. Soft tofu soup was ok. The soup tasted more like gochujang. Seafood pancake had too much oil on the serving pan too. Although there were plenty of Shrimp and squid, it was so oily and lack of pancake taste. They gave small free appetizers such as kimchi and seaweed which they didn't offer them before. That was nice and tasty. We will go back. But we will stick with our favor dishes: kimbap (of course), kimchi fried rice, spicy rice cake and hamburger cutlet combo.

Rossana A.

Yelp
Had the Japchae and Chicken Kimbab. The noodles were very tasty and well seasoned but most of the meat was tough. Wish they were more generous with the pieces of chicken in the kimbab. Loved the broth it came with! So flavorful and satisfying.

Ahri K.

Yelp
Food: 100/10 Service: 100/10 I tried here with my best friend the very first time. We got Hambuger Steak & the Rose Spicy Rice Cake. When I came here the second time I got the same thing as the first time I came (I came with my husband) and because WE were on a time frame to go home after dinner. We ended up getting the same thing. I just wanna give the server a very very loving review. Because the 2 times I've been here, the server welcomes and greets you with the friendliest smile and the warmest "hello". The food here is great. I really wanna be a regular customer to this restaurant. Not only the food and the service is great. The place feels like home. It's so cozy. Its not TOO dark OR too bright. And If I'm being honest I would recommend Bunsik Korean Street food OVER KIMGANAE.

L N.

Yelp
I've been here twice now and I've had a great experience both times. All of the food is fresh, and the sides are delish! The first time the very friendly server got my order wrong and was so apologetic when I returned a plate saying I didn't order that, she fixed the mistake right away very graciously. She's honestly so nice it's 100% a factor in why I decided to come back. I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu to compare it to two other Korean street food places I frequent nearby but the freshness and good quality of the food since this place is new compared to those is noticeable already. This place will be a part of my regular rotation.

Miss S.

Yelp
This place is definitely a hidden gem! The cheesy pork cutlet was so good and the fish cake soup was spicy. Will come by again!

Carlos S.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and the quality has gone downhill. I typically go to Kimganae which is a few blocks away on Union St, near the subway. I wanted to support this restaurant as it's relatively newer than other places. They did not have hot tea, which is disappointing. The chopsticks were sticky, and the table was sticky too. Hmm, not good for a new place. The kimbap was good, but it fell apart when I picked it up. I do like their hamburg entree, which tastes better than the other place. The restaurant was pretty quiet while I had lunch, eventually one other table of customers came in. The one good thing about this place is there is a bar, so they serve liquor.

Jude C.

Yelp
Came here to get dinner, and I was immediately drawn towards the combination platter, as it lets me try 3 different meats, a hamburg steak, a fried pork cutlet, and a piece of fried fish. The hamburg steak and pork cutlet were juicy, with a tasty sauce on top of both. The fried fish was crunchy with a nice tartar sauce on it. The service was good and the food came out rather quickly, so I didn't need to wait too long for my food. The restaraunt was clean and had a nice look. I'd definitely be coming back here.

Yusen L.

Yelp
The place have great ambiance. The server lady is so bubbly and energetic which greatly enhanced our experience there. In term of food, I got three different dishes. The food came out quick and fresh and warm. I didn't like the texture of the spicy tuna, besides that everything else tasted great.

Yi Z.

Yelp
Ive been here twice. Good service. However... First time was good. Second time, the onions were not peeled correctly, and a lot of outer skin were left in the food, and was extremely hard to chew.

Jack Y.

Yelp
Portions are great and fairly priced, good variety of appetizers, attentive staff - definitely worth checking out

Will T.

Yelp
Great food, friendly service. Went with family, but it's great for groups of all ages. Had the omelette rice, curry pork cutlet, and crab meat roll. All were delicious and definitely worth getting. Was very open too, lots of seats at 11 am on a Sunday.

Timothy F.

Yelp
Waited over an hour for two rolls. Mediocre food, there's so many better Korean spots in Flushing. They hired a new hostess who wasn't particularly good either. Last time I come here.

Annie T.

Yelp
First off I want to say I never leave a bad review. I waited 2 hours for food that never arrived that was supposed to take 30-45 minutes. After an hour I called the restaurant for an update. The lady on the phone told me that my order already was made and picked up by the Uber driver 10 minutes ago. I explained to her that my Ubereats app showed me he was there and waiting for my order. That's when she gave me a nasty attitude saying my order already left. I saw a second Uber driver trying to pick up my order on the Uber app. Why would another driver go if my order was being delivered? I called the second Uber driver after seeing he was there for at least 15 minutes and asked him if he picked up my order. He said that the lady said it wasn't ready yet. I told him that I already called the restaurant prior and she told me it was being delivered and I didn't want him to wait there for a misunderstanding. This restaurant is a mess. He tried to ask the lady about my order and I heard her screaming and yelling on speakerphone. If ur restaurant can't handle a lunch rush. Turn off ubereats. There are many Korean restaurants in flushing that make the same food. You are nothing special and u are replaceable. Be humble and be kind.

Min Y.

Yelp
The best place for Korean street food (Bunsik 분식). Every selection in the menu is wonderful the staff are kind and patient, the restaurant has a homey vibe. Overall, I'm happy with this place

Jannie L.

Yelp
Food was decent but it took so long to come out!! And the place was pretty empty for lunch on a weekday! On top of that, they delivered someone else's dish to us instead. While we were waiting, we saw people walk out after being ignored. **the waitress said one of the cooks took off and did try to make up for the long wait by giving us 2 free sodas.

Nicole C.

Yelp
really big portion sizes, rose ttebboki and kimbap were amazing!! super fast take out service! changed my family's mind on korean food :)))

Albert Z.

Yelp
This udon is extraordinary. I think some of the best udon i've ever had. The soup is so good and the meat is crispy despite soaking in the soup. Extremely flavorful and good portion size.

Shivanand S.

Yelp
Definitely worth taking the risk. Great food and atmosphere. Toy, our server was great. He was very attentive and polite. Definitely a hidden gem worth trying. Oh! Definitely get their fries. They're banging with flavor

Robert F.

Yelp
Quiet atmosphere and excellent service first time here. I think I keep coming back I'm a sake and introduced to Dassai sake sweet great
