"You have to admire a restaurant that lets you know exactly what to expect, right in its name. Burger & Lobster is the only U.S. outpost of an upscale international chain that originated in London. Though you may be seated beside multiple families of tourists, the vibe here is, disconcertingly, a little sexy: artfully distressed metal lobster tails and claws hang overhead in the spacious dining room, which also features red leather banquettes and a sculptural wall of lobster traps. A neon sign of a Samuel Beckett quote glows on a wall near the (slightly depressing) tanks in the lobby. photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick We have a very specific prescription for you here: Skip the burger altogether, and proceed directly to the Classic Lobster Roll. It’s neither a particularly good nor a particularly bad lobster roll, but it comes with a silver sauce boat—nearly the size of the sandwich itself—filled with creamy lemon and garlic butter. Douse anything in that stuff, possibly even one of those decorative metal lobster claws, and it will be delicious. Served with fries or salad (get the fries, and dip them in that butter), it’s $30, which, this close to Times Square—and in the context of New York City lobster prices in general—isn’t wildly unreasonable. There are much worse options for convenient pre-Broadway meals, especially when you consider that Burger & Lobster is in the very same building as the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. Food Rundown photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick Original Burger It’s a great-looking burger, studded with black and white sesame seeds and stacked with a couple thick slabs of bacon, but the bun is way dry. If you’re craving beef around these parts, we’d sooner send you to the Shack Shack inside Grand Central. Connecticut Lobster Roll The warm, buttery lobster has its charms, but it’s slightly overcooked, and a little mushy. photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick Classic Lobster Roll The chilled filling is refreshing, tossed with bright lemon mayo and sprinkled with chives, but the brioche is a bit of a dud. This would be a fine, if unexceptional lobster roll, if not for the cheat code that is the side of lemon garlic butter. Not for purists, but—wow. Truffle And Parmesan Chunky Fries These fries are pleasantly fluffy on the inside, but the truffle is overpowering. Try the rosemary and garlic flavor instead." - Molly Fitzpatrick

This place was highly recommended to us by a friend so we had to check it out. We visited on a Friday night and we did not have to wait for a table, we were seated immediately. They had a high chair for my toddler daughter which I mention because a couple of NYC restaurants we visited did not have highchairs. I ordered the lobster pasta. I can't remember the menu name but it was good! It was a smaller portion than I expected but in reality, it was just the right amount, I didn't get too full. We also ordered the calamari for an appetizer. I wasn't blown away, it didn't have much flavor to me. I wish I would have gotten the lobster Mac n Cheese. My fiance ordered the burger and lobster and he enjoyed his meal. He said he's glad he got the whole instead of the half because it wouldn't have been enough. Our waiter was very friendly, she made sure we had everything we didn't and the establishment was very clean from what I saw.

Never had a bad experience here. I came here 7 years ago, 6 years ago, and finally, once again, today. Their food quality is always consistent. The waiters are great and check up on ya. Burger was cooked perfectly. Lobster was fire. I think they make their pickles in house cuz they are unique and full of flavor. Well priced, great ambiance, love everything about this place.

First time at this restaurant, would go again! The apps were delicious! Came in on a Saturday evening at the start of dinner rush. What was weird, was that we were told we had to wait a few minutes (completely fine) but we were not asked to give our name. That did make it a hassle when the time came to start seating parties. But after about 20 minutes, were we able to get seated. The fried calamari was some of the best I’ve had. The crab bites had a kick, but were still flavorful. There were three in my party and we all had the same entree. The only difference was that I got a boiled lobster with the lemon garlic butter. The butter had a weird texture, but also, I’m not sure if I am a lobster fan. Still a great dish, but personally, I would just get the burger and fries. I would have preferred a brioche bun instead of the seeded. But the homemade pickles and the fries were amazing! Also, the La Paloma margarita were delicious and definitely worth a second round.

Very nice restaurant. We had the lobster roll and the bread was soft and it complimented the lobster meat inside. They have happy hour, but only at the bar. We went on a Wednesday and it was that busy. The server was very attentive and socialable

We hit this place at happy hour. Being from Texas a good margarita is a must and they were good. We ate mostly off the appetizer menu. Had the BLLT lobster roll, fried calamari and two dozen raw oysters on the half shell since they were $1 each! Highly recommend, the service was great and the food was delicious. But we ended with the lobster bisque and the London burger.

Burger & Lobster have remained consistent through the years of its inception. I mean every table had the Combo meal. Why come to Burger & Lobster and not have a Burger & a Lobster. The music, the decor the service all fits together well. There perfect balance allows me to feel and taste the wonderful flavors of the juicy burger as I dip my lobster in the garlic butter for a very smooth taste., And there is no hesitation refilling my table of 3 glasses of coke & water.

Went here for lunch with a coworker and we were both very pleasantly surprised with how good everything we had was! I ordered the lunch version of the lobster roll and could not believe just how much lobster was actually in the roll despite it only being $25. We also both ordered margheritas and were very happy with those as well. It was very empty when we went but the restaurant is quite large and looks very nice!

We were there on Valentine's Day, arrived too late and missed our slot, but the welcome was very nice and they still tried to seat us quickly: Sorry and thank you for that! Our waitress at the table tried hard, but wasn't quite as good as the one at the next table. The ice cubes we ordered only arrived when the drink was already empty and the fries were unfortunately only warm. The lobster tongs were missing. We would have liked to have said something, but the waiter simply didn't come for a long time, which we thought was a shame. It was really busy, but we would have appreciated a little more attention. All in all, 4 stars and a little room for improvement!
